Kind of. Color coded enemies take damage but don’t stagger/knock back from non aligned weapon. Frick DE is the only “DMC” game in my x box one that gets errors. Also style no taunts. Must style and god must die were neat.

That’s the jack shit part Itsuno had to deal with. Poor dude made DMC 3 so he wasn’t stuck as the dude that made DMC 2.
There was a director in charge of DMC 2 before Itsuno. Itsuno was brought in 4 to 6 months before the release of 2. When he arrived all the team had was jack shit and had to turn what was left of two into a full game.

Your attacks do a lot of damage compared to later DMC games, so as a kid if you just bumrush and whale on him eventually you'll get lucky

All these games are short, that's not an argument. The game would be better with mission select.
It would be nice but the game's structure is built as an RE, you are not supposed to be farming or retrying one attempt secret missions by save scumming, but you can do it anyways.
Later games, which are longer than 1 btw, don't have this problem.

But the game literally has grades for every mission. If you get a bad grade your only option is to retry the mission without going forwards, which is just a buzz kill.

Not that anon but I actually really like not having fast switching. Choosing between weapons felt more like I was planning for battles tactically since changing weapons is more out of the way. That being said, it would be interesting to see what the game would look like with more depth.
I would even settle with a switch like Alastor and Ifrit where you have to go through an animation, but it doesn't break the flow of combat like pausing and going to a menu just to change your guns.
I think carrying two, like in DMC3 would be the best option.
Can have most of those with mods on PC at least.
I’m playing dmc1, when does the game get good? I’m already a third of the way through and nothing interesting has happened yet. There’s nothing really wrong with the game but It just seems like nothings happening. The story hasn’t progressed at all and the gameplay is pretty simple.

Yeah it's just one of those games that's fun to have a play through to appreciate the origins of an IP, and see how their ideas have developed over time in newer installments.
it starts popping once you get the fire gloves and then it's a steady uphill of slow methodical action awesomeness. However, the game peaks with Mission 17, the best level in the game and has the best boss. After that, the game goes to shit with the gimmicky frickery.
I just finished DMC1 for the first time myself. I thought it got consistently better after Nelo Angelo I and only had a low point during Mundus' fight, specifically the inverted plane controls during the first phase. They were even fine during the actual plane scene at the end but it just sucked for the boss.

I can play earlier DMCs easily but I just can't deal with Vergil in DMC3 and 4 because DMC5 Vergil is just a straight upgrade compared to them. Dante at least plays reasonably differently aside from his main weapons.
I can manage 3Vergil as he is much more simple and unga than his later iterations, 4Vergil on the other hand is just a downgrade to 5's. Nero is the only one from 4 that's also playable in 5 I still find fun to play.
I would welcome a DMC1 remake with open arms if it sets out to match this grandiose feeling of atmosphere the RE4? concept arts had. It just makes me go to the gallery in the HD Collection and stare at my TV for five minutes.

No game is ever going to live up to the concept art, Anon. It's meant to engage a completely different part of your mind.
I know, but a remake of 1 would probably drop the fixed camera, and the higher level of fidelity could require to fill in some blanks that the original doesn't have, so, why not take some inspiration from the concept arts? Plus having the castle and outdoor areas be bigger but somehow clausthrophobic wouldn't be bad at all. Further cementing 1 as the game with the unmatched atmosphere.

Black Orbs taste like black liquorice and Dante hates the taste of black liquorice so they'd cause damage.
