I'm fricking done playing souls. 1 was great, 2 was good for a playthrough, 3 was okay. Elden Ring is a great step forward EXCEPT THEY REMOVED THE KICK. If there's some ash bullshit to let swords parry then Eldring beats anything in the DS trilogy hands down

It's not the worst but it certainly is flawed. The most egregious issues to me are:

>nostalgia bait that detracts from new elements in the story: I would have much preferred to learn more about Ariandel or Londor than deal with another fricking onion knight
>bonfires every three steps breaking game tension: what were they thinking adding a bonfire before, at, and right after the dragonslayer armor?
>constant pandering to sweaty pvpgays: this led to nerfing hollow builds which is moronic when it was a large chunk of the story with it's own separate ending
>boss music is melodramatic opera music....it worked for bloodborne but felt too contrived here, I mean seriously, try to hum one of the tunes to yourself, it's just loud screaming. DeS did music the best and had an eclectic mix that is still memorable

I have played DeS, DaS, Das II, DaS III, and Elden Ring. I do not rank the games against eachother and just enjoy them for what they are. I had fun playing all of them.

Dark Souls seems ROUGH to me in retrospect. Dark Souls was just an open world take on what they did already with a level-hub, but it sold so many copies that they cashed that cow in. Darks II and III seemed to me like they were trying to refine the gameplay elements while tossing in whatever for settings and rehashing the plot. The area they really focused on through the series was the bosses.
Elden Ring is the only game that feels like a finished product to me (so far, I'm only 9 hours in a blind playthrough). I only played a bit of Bluburn and Demon Semen on friends' consoles. I would expect Armored Core to be rough for a few titles while they iron out kinks in that genre.

Never played demon souls unfortunately, would buy the re-release for pc.
