PLA probably had richer gameplay than the mainline games (at the cost of an EV system more similar to that of Gen I but with feeding them some rock powder rather than fighting), so I would say that it is, indeed, a good break from the never-changing mainline series and I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed finding em glitches and weird collision boxes.
