I am looking forward to Starfield as much as everybody else. I actually bought the pre-order from my own pocket to support Bethesda and will play it. Yeah I know, throw shit my way for doing this. There is some reason behind this decision. But frick them for the fallout 76 fiasco.
It will either be genuinely great and enjoyable and there will be stuff to report on for months, or it will be a shitfest due to the bugs, instabilities, crashes, frame drops and then shitposting will be hilarious and we'll have fun with that. Either way, I am paid per article written so it will pay itself off pretty fast (can't share the numbers though) and then I will be in net profit.
Otherwise, no, I would never pre-order a game.

I've seen other journalists (I'd prefer not to specify whom) argue that games journalists should be morally obligated to fight against terrible publisher misdeeds.
Specifically, they've argued in favor of either labelling coverage of those companies' games with warnings about their misdeeds, or boycotting them completely. And if the news site refuses to do so, quit.
