Have you ever thought you were addicted to video games? What was the longest time you've gone without playing? What was your longest gaming session? How did you feel during those times?

only thing I'm addicted to is whiskey, pic rel tonights haul
Grand Dad??
>Have you ever thought you were addicted to video games?
Yes
>What was the longest time you've gone without playing?
Dunno, probably a week or so
>What was your longest gaming session?
18 hours
>How did you feel during those times?
It was fun until it stopped. Being a turbo neet at the time and a dawn of war dark crusade online addict I played an unhealthy amount. The above 18hour session is what actually broke the camel's back - I played that 18 hours with Slayer's discography on loop and when I stopped to sleep not only was I frazzled from the length of play my mind was utterly fricked by the music. I then spent the next 2 or so hours trying to sleep effectively haunted by a never-ending mish-mash of guitar riffs. The next day day I woke up and realised I can't go on like this and enormously cut back my play time and effectively cut out all online gaming.
To this day any game where people say "it gets good 15 hours in" or "bro you need to play online to fully experience it" or some variation thereof I refuse to play. Vidya is still my main hobby but a combination of the above and being that bit older (and I like to think, wiser) means I can see the warning signs and stop before the point of no return. This applies not just to vidya but other things like booze and porn - never, ever again shall I get sucked into a cycle of NEEDING to consume something to feel normal.
Pic only semi related.
Reminds me of a guy I occasionally play tome TT wargaming with - for a while he was a legit alcoholic and would neck an entire bottle of vodka in a morning until he got his life sorted out.
I more have a buy video games on sale and never play them addiction
6500 games on steam now, still play the same 2 games
longest gaming session was around 36 hours once
on several other occasions more times than I would like to admit I have played non stop for 18-24 hours
most of the time I did this with friends and not on my own
Its the equivalent to a book nerd in medieval times or a drama nerd in the ancient greeks or their diverse alternates in other cultures of course
Ps. 60 second timer really helps with spelling, maybes you only get the 60 seconds timer if they detect misspelled words???
almost all people couldn't read in medieval times even most lords couldn't
most greeks didn't care about drama and the such most only cared about day to day survival
video games are a whole other beast pretty much everyone is addicted to them and yes it is an addiction that causes brain rot
No, the entire concept of "hurrr he's addicted to vidyo games" is literal conservative boomer propaganda because new thing bad, technology scary, TV good but video game bad
Yeah same goes for Heroin, nothing wrong with that shit. Cringe boomers just don't get it.
Boomers are all senile corpses. They don't care about video games.
This.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/273829/average-game-hours-per-day-of-video-gamers-in-selected-countries/
>Average time gaming per week is 8.45 hours globally
If you can't see the graph, just read the description.
>addicted to video games
>Ganker
Ahahahaha
No one here plays video games, newbie
I’m assuming addiction requires you to continue doing something compulsively without enjoying it, but every time I play video games I’m smiling and happy because I love them so much. So even though I spend most of my time playing them I wouldn’t say I’m addicted
if you can delete your steam account right now and not care at all, then gaming is not an addiction for you.
That's moronic since people spend money on their accounts
Not wanting to delete someonye you invested money into is normal
addict mentality
throw away your pipes(games) ya crackheads
Games are not more addictive than the Internet or watching YouTube.
See
The idea of games being especially addictive has always been boomer propaganda
If you think otherwise, post proof
Idk what this cope is, everybody knows games can be addictive. A lot of games are deliberately designed to be addictive even. Boomers tend to blow it a little out of proportion (and don't know the difference between Max Payne and World of Warcraft) but still, vidya addiction is very real
It's real but it's not more addictive than YouTube or social media. As I have proven with stats
Boomers exaggerate the addictiveness of games because they hate them.
>if i just threw away everything in your bedroom and you got mad you are addicted
You are fricking moronic. Anyone getting rid of years worth of monetary possessions would be upset.
Why would you have a steam botnet account in the first place???
Nah I only use them to avoid facing my life, I'm not really that into them for their own sake
so what?
I've never been addicted to Vidya. I generally stop playing after 1.5 to 2 hours per day.
I think most normalgays are the same too
Most people just play a few rounds of call of duty or fortnite, and that's all gaming is to them.
I think I might have been 'addicted' in my early 20s until about when I was 24-25. Playing pretty much daily and weekends CS 1.3 and 1.6 on LAN in Internet cafes with friends.. then I suddenly lost interest and stopped pretty much, except later on some casual fun zombie mod games on source. Nowadays I only play single player games, if at all. So I don't know if you can call it an addiction, though I also have a chronic depression with fatigue syndrome since a long time and that might have stopped the addiction, if it was one?
>zombie panic
>zombie master
>zombie escape
I probably was at some point, bit now I'm addicted to this stupid fricking website. Like actually addicted. Not specifically to this place I guess, just anywhere I can scroll really but I keep coming back here the most.
My brain is mush
I have gone almost a year without access to my PC so there's that
but I don't think I'll ever quit gaming so I guess I'm addicted
I really have to force myself to play these days. Shitposting is more interesting than any vidya.
I've probably played a total of like five hours of games in all of 2024. I just like watching this place shit itself over nothing then move onto the next game to do it all again
No. The same people that used to say so were also the people that watched tv all day.
Weeks.
12 hours. Modern Warfare 2 release. 2009.
Good. I miss being engrossed in games. It just passes the time now.
is porn addiction real
People who talk about media addiction of any form should be fricking castrated. It was bad enough during the time of lead-addled gen X fricks abusing their kids and forcing them to take meds because they liked Pokemon too much, but now people who are fully unfettered by the old-world neurotoxins are parroting the same shit. It’s fricking disgusting. You have to be evil to believe in video game addiction.
>What was the longest time you've gone without playing?
a week on an off
>What was your longest gaming session?
i would be pushing 12 hours when I used to play runescape i don't play anymore dropped down to 3-6 hours a day i cut down a lot i get bored to easy now and lose motivation
I quit my job last year to catch up on vidya that accumulated while I was wage cucking. Saved up enough to comfortably NEET in mom's basement and put something like 3000+ hours into just my Switch last year.
>longest dry spell
Hmm, probably no longer than 3 weeks
>longest gaming session
Either Factorio shortly after I bought it or Terraria with friends when 1.2 came out
>What was your longest gaming session
I had a 16 hour session of TotK when it first came out.
The frick else is there to do? Participate in society? lol
