Ammunition exist to be consumed. And consumed they will be, if not by this war then by some future. By what right does this forgotten future seek to deny us our birthright? None I say! Let us take what is ours, fire and reload our guns.

The engine block is the armor. That ship fricks my dude, you can lose half the ship and keep fighting.

Things I have learned in 400 hours of Highfleet sans wiki or forum
    >you can condense 2x4 into a 2x3 space using triangles and the corner square
This is useful for tight, space efficient ships and you can overlap some mounted modules as well but after patching, only with propulsion and landing gear and only in certain configurations.
    >Maneuvering thrusters may overlap ammo, engines, crew, everything but guns and themselves.
    >Directional thrusters don't work with anything but MTs and landing gear.
You can also fit a triangle in a 1x2 L shaped space and full sized 2x2 modules like ammo, crew, engines will fit. I find this useful for uparmoring by tucking crew on the outer edges, in between hull and armor propper
    >armor can be a ything you want. Even armor!
Armor is fricking heavy. Maybe you want a lighter ship but without your skeleton so exposed. Stick some tarmac to the sides. It wieghts the same as a light 1x2 hull piece. It's unwieldy but if your willing to accept the additional bulk and with a bit of practice, you can take more than a few hits with a fast and light ship.
    >7 is the sweet spot
This is highly subjective but I find going lower than a t/w of 7 results in less than adequate performance out of ships designed for air superiority

      >knocked landing gear is good
I'm still testing this but I've noticed turning the knees inward seems to yield higher joint strength. If true, you can shave some wieght off of heavier builds without collapsing on the pad.
      >A237 is viable as missile defence
Not a mystery but way heavier, and more expensive than APS
      >APS (palash) is expensive
But space efficient and effective if you know how to work with it.
      >chaff flare chaff flare chaff flare altitude
You can flares in some wierd places. Like on the outer corner of a 2x2 with two other blocks crowding each side of its cone with no obstruction. Then you can cap it with an armor shard and it will still work.
      >where do the bugs end and feature begin?
You can do certain things like put flares on a small triangle perpendicular to its slope and it will mount and clear the hull. But only in one or two directions. If you try the other, it mounts too deep and doesn't clear the hull. Unusable. There are a few other oddities like this that I can't remember but I know you can mitigate some of them by
      >attaching pieces, hull first
You will get different mounting results for some modules (canisters, flairs, APS, maybe 1 or 2 other) depending on whether you grab the module and apply it to the hull or grab the hull and apply it to the mod. Experiment a bit and you might find the sollution to that configuration that didn't work out before.

the best air/missile defense is AK-100s with proximity fuze IMO, and they also work against other ships and cruise missiles

Little spendy for my taste. I try to get bye on flairs and maneuvering but more than both, I try to set up my engagements to adhear to my time and terms.
Now that I think about it, the cost is probably offset by not having a bunch of APS stuck to the sides and fewer maneuvering thrusters chugging down fuel.

        >internal armor
If you know what your doing, you can rig up a condensed 2x3, mount mods on them, and still find an open 1x1 triangle hiding in there. Only triangle armor shards slot in these spaces. I never factor this into my designs but you should be able to string a row of triangles at strategic points within the hull. This doesn't sound very useful but I'm also not well practiced at designing massive wastes of liquid methane when we're experiencing the worst fuel crises to ever hit Gerat. I'm not made of money and space is at a premium! They know this and my generals still complain about selling the evac pods! Alsas, it may be time to purge high command of dissidents, again.
        >sell or exclude evacpods
The ship is the evac pod.
        >crew expendable
"Destroying non-critical components will surely bring them down! " - No one, ever
Crew compartments make good soft armor. So do engines but care must be taken as you might expect.
        >light ships don't need landing gear
If your light enough, you won't collapse under your own weight or land with e ought force to critically damage your ship. I have a tanker in inventory that requires no input to land as long as it strikes a flat surface.

      >3D
      For what purpose

It's likely to make development easier. I don't know his intentions but I'd wager he's going to bake them into 2D or else keep the same perspective but use 3D models. He may also be updating the assets. You might have noticed already but this game was not innitially designed for HD. You can see this quite clearly if you look at the mountains in the background of a city.

I wonder what's next for the developer. Another Highfleet game but with actual formations with multiple units to order around and fight alongside?

With all the bullshit going on in that part of the world, I wonder how much he can do. Last I heard, dlc was in the works. As to the contents? Ground vehicles will surely be in. I'd like to see some tweaks to the ai and missile spam. I don't mind the difficulty but dodging missiles forever stips being fun pretty quick and I'd like the option to death march straight to the capital in addition to more careful strats. And while I'm dreaming, some new guns would be nice. Plenty of room to expand but it seems he is still mostly a one man show. It took him roughly 10 years to put Highfleet out, I had been waiting since hammer fight perhaps that provides an idea of wait time.

I just want an actual ending. Even just one more scene would be fine. This game has the most abrupt non-ending I've ever seen.

The dev should be fine. The people in the cities aren't being drafted, Russia has so much more manpower than Ukraine does. Still pretty rough shit being a country at war though I guess.

That good to hear but I worry my country is going to shit itself again and sign some bullshit that prevents access our market. For all its flaws, this game was made for me and there are not many US presidents that I wouldn't assassinate in order to secure its place in the store.

        >I'd like the option to death march straight to the capital
I spent awhile trying to make a ship that could do ur to khiva in one tank, my best attempt came to something like 17500km so I like to think it could be done.
This strat would hinge on getting enough faith checks with other ships so you could recruit the lord governor and use the Varyag against the khiva garrison
