I'm on my second run, trying not to die. Can you still use shortcuts related to falling, like the smiling idols? Also, getting some crystals, but I'm not sure if they have any use outside of art unlocks?

The crystals? Oh yeah, you can spend them when you are voided or not. The downside is they can't be collected when you are voided though. You'll have to get through the game not voided to collect the remaining. There are also hidden ones you can find per the puzzles (read there were 8 puzzles/hidden crystals).
No, I meant the smiling idols. Wasn't sure since they make you fall.
And I've only found a couple of these ladies so far.
Using the trick associated with the smiling statues drains all your locusts and skips you ahead as many floors as you had locusts. If you know how to collect a bunch of locusts and know when to use the trick, you can pretty much get to the very end, but if you're not careful you'll just end up on a lategame floor with zero locusts and be at risk of dying to the next tap and will have to either void yourself or reset the run.

Yeah the crystal just unlock the Memory photos.
There are shortcuts, but they aren't that obvious. If you have over a certain amount of locusts, a character may appear on certain floors that will ask to exchange your locusts for a shortcut hint.
Doing pretty good, but taking a break. I am going to go after the remaining crystals next, and then the secret item upgrade I keep seeing people posting about. I don't know where to fight the third traitor, which I think is Bee?

I feel like stalling out on the game cause I ended up warping myself back like 80 floors. I don't have it in me to redo every goddamn puzzle I just did.
I did this with almost 60 floors because I wanted to see what would happen. About as well thought through as my puzzle attempts. But keep at it. It doesn't take too long to get back since the solutions will probably come to you much faster (plus you can skip a bunch of chests if you want).

I'm in DIS' domain. Have been for quite a few days, actually. I'm taking it slow since solving just one of these floors can get pretty exhausting.
Just started hard mode? after collecting all the items. Did I miss out on anything by skipping the ??? floor on B193? - I'm not sure if I should've been there to begin with.

Practice the first two phases until you can somewhat consistently finish them getting hit once at most. Pay attention to way they flash in the second phase as you shoot them. The flashing gets darker the lower they are on health, which is helpful since you need to kill them both around the same time so they don't revive each other. Study others' playthroughs on YouTube for the last phase since it isn't available in practice mode.

This was a separate court case, where they specifically went after me for hoarding locust. Seems afterwards it saves me taking a locust and restarting the same level.
RIP, it happened again with like 4 locust. Maybe taking one from a floor more than once triggers that one? Not the most fun interaction.
Just don't cheat locusts. You'll learn how to cheat them without getting the courts attention later.

I entered hard mode without getting much of any secrets. Used the first pattern I discovered (infinity) to brute force the first part unvoided. No sword, no wings. Died swiftly in Hard mode and voided and now I appear to be hardlocked on b43 - can't die, can't restart run, puzzle seems unsolveable. How bad did I frick up?
Die repeatably in rapid succession. If you are on the latest patch you'll die for good and be free.
If you're on 1.0.2 or higher dying over and over while voided will let you end it all
All of the numbered puzzles are possible without items. It won't be easy though If you make it to the tree room you can escape using the void egg ending.

What's the gameplay of this game like? I've heard people like this and the consistent general seems to imply something good about this, but I just straight up don't play platformers or bullet hells.
Most often, it's tile-based puzzle rooms. Bite-sized brain-flexing challenges. The game has very consistent rules, but things really open up once you learn to start bending them.

You have to go through the game as Gray itemless, have the delinquent push you down the hole, then talk to her on NG+ as Lillie.

You might be able to for that interaction, but it doesn't matter because you have to beat DIS to get the NPC endings anyway. So the only way to view it without cheating would be itemless Gray into NG+ DIS ending Lillie.

there's only when when you slap her and then over the fight more of them turn white. I assume thats actually her hitpoint count. white fly= depleted hp. also makes it harder to harm her in fly phase in later bits where the big mode is harder to deal with
I meant in the beginning of the fight there is less of them which makes them conspicuous to the player. Kind of seems weird from a gameplay perspective to confuse players like that, but maybe that was the intent? Gameplay wise your statement makes sense thoough.
I think there's zero at the beginning, and as you kill the flies they get replaced with illusions so the fight doesn't get easier as you progress.

I think the only ones who are conditional are teen and thief, teen requires talking to her with no wings (I think turning them off isn't enough) as gray (only needs to be done once) and then talking to her as Lillie, thief requires no sword for her to spawn (turning it off isn't enough)
the escort mission as lillie doesn’t always spawn and I’m not sure what the trigger for that one is.
I only ever got her to spawn once, in my first Lillie run, but I don't know if that gets a cg she, the bandit and the king have a bust in the credit sequence and the other two got no cg even though I interacted with then in my dis run
She spawned on my first and third runs. 2nd run I used a bee statue skip, maybe that caused it? Heard a couple people theorize that could be it, not sure though.

Pretty sure she laughs if you hit those, they are fake. when you hit the other ones you see the tan statue flash, and the more you hit bee the fewer normal flies you see because they are actually her hit points

Happened to me too and I'm still mad about it. The game kept alluding to Cif's true form so I thought that was going to be the only way to hurt her. But no it just gives you an anticlimactic boss fight.

If you want all of them in one credits scene you have to do Gray itemless normal into lillie DIS, which also means lillie starting off itemless.

They're safe to use iirc. Only thing that ends a "run" is is dying and accepting true death and returning to the brand input menu. At least I think. I'm sure if I'm wrong an anon will correct me.

you're not intended to win that fight, it has 4 phases iirc and the second one alone can have unavoidable patterns, it's super bullshit, I've spent hours on it and only gotten to phase 3

I've dumpstered the whole puzzle in the thrash by looking up the solution. I'm goddamn mad. When I purchased this game I breezed through the Gray/Lillie/Cif playthrough in one day and since then I've been stuck on this snek puzzle for 2 weeks. I've been trying every esoteric approaches under the sun involving the alphabet and the lore because I refused to believe the solution was to cut and past pixels into random ass floating spaghetti snake. The puzzle quality in this game was so good, there had to be more to it. Why does the puzzle even specifies "at least back when they were alive...", and why does the snek has a backstory about being born from a mutilated god's corpse, none of this changes the solution that is cutting and pasting pixels into spaghetti snake, but the game throws that shit in my face just to make me waste my time wondering why it's doing that. And the story just had to reveal more and morel traitors, Including one that turns into the tail of a centipede, just to maximize my amount of wasted time on alternate theories? Bros I've been filtered so hard by spaghetti snakes. Please tell me this is considered the worst puzzle in the game and it's all uphill from here. I'm not picky about my puzzles, I swear, I'll tell you what, I've been hitting every objects in the game six times and waiting six seconds just because a rock told me to do it on a chest once. And you know what? Everytime I got a tiny reaction out of those love taps I considered it a fun little bit of puzzling, that's just how low I set the bar. I've jiggled giant snake boobs six times and waited six seconds just in case the giant snake boobs were a puzzle. But this? I draw the line at this. Frick spaghetti snake. This is not a puzzle.

easily the worst aspect of the game I would say, it doesn't really match the way the other puzzles are designed and is kinda there as its own thing.
The actual worst puzzle is yet to come, it's the one where entering the pause menu makes the statue inch up one square every time and the only clue you get is some vague bullshit from the friendly neighborhood rock. Fortunately that's the only nugget of shit left in the game, outside of that the endgame dungeon is just difficult but fair.

You're speaking to highly of that rock. There is no hint whatsoever, it is just a bullshit room that should be entirely removed from the game.
the rock actually asks you if you tried different color palettes already if you talk to it multiple times, hinting that you should pause.
That's just extra dogshit because nearly every other rock in the game just repeats the same dialogue no matter how many times you talk to them, outside of that one in B002 that reacts to you messing around with the chest trick.

Whats the point of the Void Lords why were they even made? To make weirdo deals with mortals? Whats the point of DIS? It was only revealed that it was made for humans but throughout the story it doesnt look like it helped people at all. It only spread misery. The void itself seems to be used as some sort of purgatory but its not really for dead people but for people who entered the hole specifically.
Seems like Lord Add just arrived on earth at some point and then created the void and the lords and they did their thing until the betrayal and Levs scheming.
Adds plan also seems a bit moronic because if she wasnt aware of being Add as Gray then it all hinged on Gray finding her way into the void and doing all this shit in the first place. And this supposed immortal god being just died like that in Lillie story with no real explanation?

The judge is not a void lord. She's from ZeroRanger. How she's there and why isn't clear though.
The final memory picture and carcass ending is making me think that the DIS ending leads into ZeroRanger in an extended multi-timeline loop, but that's a literal wild guess on my part.

A lot of things are up to interpretation, but here's what I've gathered:

They're Add's attempts at creating life. From Cif's monologue during her fight: "Add.. Long time ago, you created me and my sisters. Nutured us. Guided us.
You made us immovable. Everlasting. So that we'd able to continue your work."
Them making deals with mortals under DIS's instructions was to find the one DIS deemed worthy (which ended up being Lily). Why this is isn't explained, but it probably has something to do with Erasure saying she reminds her of someone (you'll know what I mean if you beat ZeroRanger).
DIS is a research facility created by humans that according to Erasure housed research on topics like interstellar travel and gene splicing. From analyzing the carcass ending and the shmup intro flashes me can gather that the black box Dr. Lily was researching was the lotus israeliteel from the primeval fighter from ZeroRanger, found floating out in space. Research on the lotus israeliteel is linked to the black comet (Lilith) appearing, which Add arrived on. The void was created after the comet impacted DIS, which set humanity back to at least the medieval times in terms of technology, as seen in Gray's playthrough.

I'd wager it's because DIS only accepts mortals, so she took her chances and reduced herself to a near-mortal in terms of ability. She died in Lillie's route because she never got her memories or powers back.

They can't, Erasure (the judge) is a "stranger" to the void and not a void lord.

Timeline frickery. They way I see it NG+ and ++ and DIS routes are both canon in their own timelines. Also Lily getting sent back to the past is a new timeline where the black comet was destroyed and the void lords no longer exist.
I reconsidered my statement about Adds plan after making the post.
When you do DIS route as Lillie she gets possessed by Add by the end like Gray was. Its possible that Gray is not Add specifically and just gets taken over after getting all the items so she becomes Gray+Add.
That would make Adds plan much more reasonable because it would only require a human who has the balls to make it to the end and reach DIS too which is the actual hard part because it looks like others made it to the end before.
And I guess Johann actually made it to the end and wished for immortality? Makes me wonder why the Void Lords asked for a whole countries worth of souls and if impregnating the princess was part of the deal and if so why.

There's a lot of obscure things that point to Gray being Add all along. Some of the big ones are Gray's pendant being on Add's statue at B002, Lev saying Add possessing a mortal is sickening on Lillie's DIS route, this pause screen if you talk to a mimic in Gor's domain, and the womb room dialogue: as Gray it's "You feel a familiar warmth." OR, 1/256 chance for "Why would you return here...?"
As Lillie it's "You shouldn't be here."
As Cif it's "Why did Add leave us?"

There's Gor's quest thing when you get to her without the sword and use the staff where she can see it. It's not a big lore thing but it leads to an extra area. Don't overthink it.

When you only shoot 2 projectiles forward and nothing else, you are at 1hp.
Cats are just for scoring. Slashing reveals them, shooting them gives more points.

So, the princess/king shit was fake / someone else's memories that Lilith and Abaddon were inserting themselves into. But this leaves the reason why Lilith is being held in the dungeon, or how she got pregnant, completely unexplained, unless I'm missing something ? Does anyoen know something about that ?
Also who the frick was that in the egg ending, the big thing that broke reality ? It didn't match the appearance of anything else in the game. Is it the "true void king" Mammon alluded to in the Lucifer ending, or was he just talking about Leviathan then ?

Lilith herself says it verbatim during the Grey DIS ending. She mentions she was lonely in someone else's memory and Add was keeping her company inserting themselves as Gray. She then proceeds to talk about Gray like it's someone she never met, saying "man their life sounded hard".

I met balls of light in B054 and B077, each time giving me "hints" in the form of riddles. I still don't know what the frick that was about or if there's more, or when they spawn

These creatures show if you're at low karma (yes there's a hidden justice system) and give you cool lore. They're all Add's "failures" at creating life.
Also the light balls are if you're at high karma, but they only spout bullshit, their riddles lead nowhere.

Gray's and Lillie's fights and falling out, and Gray's inability to let Lillie live her own life, mirrors how Add tried to keep the void lords under his rule, despite three of them wanting to be free.

They're Add's attempts at creating life. From Cif's monologue during her fight: "Add.. Long time ago, you created me and my sisters. Nutured us. Guided us.

Them making deals with mortals under DIS's instructions was to find the one DIS deemed worthy (which ended up being Lily). Why this is isn't explained, but it probably has something to do with Erasure saying she reminds her of someone (you'll know what I mean if you beat ZeroRanger).
DIS is a research facility created by humans that according to Erasure housed research on topics like interstellar travel and gene splicing. From analyzing the carcass ending and the shmup intro flashes me can gather that the black box Dr. Lily was researching was the lotus israeliteel from the primeval fighter from ZeroRanger, found floating out in space. Research on the lotus israeliteel is linked to the black comet (Lilith) appearing, which Add arrived on. The void was created after the comet impacted DIS, which set humanity back to at least the medieval times in terms of technology, as seen in Gray's playthrough.

After giving it some thought I think that (some of?) the Void Lords are the octahedrons, as both Gray and Lillie can become Add, and when they transform the sphere even turns into an octahedron and another(?) one is embedded into their bodies. Lev is probably the octahedron embedded into the body of Dr. Lily.
Also the onion things in the carcass ending also have octahedrons embedded in them, but I didn't play Zero Ranger so I have no idea if this already means anything.

Yes, you need to kill Tail and Gor again, get the superrod again AND THEN do all of DIS again. Yes, it's pulling Zer0Ranger all over again. From looking at israelitetube, if you pull it off, you get additional 3 to 5 minutes of ending content.

I took more at face value. She's thanking Gray for letting her see memories of her, some being parts if Gray's life she didn't know about, since Gray was dead by the time Lillie's play through starts.

It's a crude imitation of Cif's true form, which also has four eyes, so I guess it's a pun. Also the only human scientist that likely served as the basis / inspiration for Cif is also the only one with glasses. It's also worth noting that Add tried to create artificial humans with human limitations on order to give them meaning (alluded to in Cifs monologue in her boss fight), and Cif is the most successful of Adds experiments in creating a flawed being (aka human) so her needing glasses makes sense.

Anon that WAS Cif. That was Cif casting the projected giant shadow demon and the fake embryo on the left side with infinite HP. That's why that one embryo is always glowing and the fake one isn't. If you beat Cif the hard way and she "burns out" literally the last thing to go, when light consumes the screen, is the embryo.

New player here . Somebody tell me how many endings there are . I just want to know when i have done everything there is to do. I haven't been clicking spoilers , wanted to figure out the puzzles myself. So far im getting filtered pretty hard . Three-ish hours in , before floor 150 i die and get void status , which i assume is bad even tho no negative side effects are noticable so far, and after a while i get stuck on one room for 10 minutes and in my boredom ran into a enemy mulltiple times , and saw a animation of my character in a black void , turning into one of those pushable boulders. Little did i know i had to mash the use button and that if i only press it once and wait to see what happens that my goddamn save file will get deleted . The game is just mocking me and my lack of willpower. I assume the game gets harder and more bullshit from here on out. Should i try to not get void status in my next try? Does it prevent you from getting some endings? What does it do?

You should use void to frick around and figure stuff out, you can aim at reaching the bottom alive when you're more familiar with the game.
There are shortcuts if you can find them. Certain game mechanics that could help if you discover how to use them.
Oh yeah it'll get harder. Some floors are harder than others, but the difficulty does ramp up and doesn't stop.
Void just lets you die without having to use locusts. You won't be able to collect crystals either. You'll get a unique ending beating the game while Voided versus beating the game not Voided. The game ends at Floor B220 something while Voided, but it continues on past that while not Voided.
It is usually good to get voided for a person's first playthrough since you get to keep trying and experimenting without worry of losing much. When you replay it from the beginning you'll know how to solve (most) floors nearly immediately. You can do it, you got it.

Anybody find it strange that Gray has no dialog boxes outside of memories? We see her thoughts and a summary of what she is saying but she doesn't get a portrait like Lillie, Cif, and all the NPCs. In fact the only time we see her directly speak is in her ending. Is there a narrative reason for this or?
Its been bugging me for a while will take headcanons at this point.
Probably because Gray was finished before Lillie was even a thing in the minds of the developers.
I'd bet on it being something the devs did to make it seem like Gray herself isn't *that* important at first, to make her fit into a "silent blank slate player stand-in protagonist" role, even if that quickly falls apart as you uncover more of the memories and the story in general. By the time you play as Lillie, shit's inevitably more personal for the player as you choose to press on and play more of the game even though you already witnessed the credits once and the levels have gotten significantly harder.
I've reach the point where I have to deal with the the Super Metroid statue[/spoiler and I know I have to [spoiler]eliminate the remains of the traitors but I can only trigger the centipede fight when playing as Cif and the Super Metroid statue is only there when NOT playing as Cif. I have a hard time figuring out sometimes what the game is trying to hint, so I'd love if anon could confirm if the lack of statue on Cif's route is just random junk that doesn't matter, or whether this is an eldritch hint to figure some way to trigger the Centipede fight with other characters than Cif. I don't see how that'd work, given there's nothing down that dungeon when I go there as Gray and the way is blocked for Lillie. I'm getting conflicting vibes here.
Also is Cute Sleepy Head part of the stab-the-traitor list? She doesn't seem to be hinted as part of the deal by the design of the statue but she is also explicitly called a traitor by some rocks so idk.[/spoiler]

Mon's seal is already broken, she somehow tricked the system by faking her death. That's why the statue's eye is already off, you don't need to kill Mon. Just the other two.
And yes, Gor is one of the two you have to kill.
Thanks for the clarification, I never would have suspected the "tricked the system" interpretation. Those dumb seals need better detection software. I mean, Mon is literally walking around pretending to be a hint NPC and israeliteing people out of bug snacks. Also man why do I have to kill the only people in this game who aren't complete dicks?

That's a good point, but since Cif stubbornly refuses to kill her and promised to "make amends", I was hoping she could be fixed with a new body. I have no doubt Gor with a new body would immediately go back to being a lazy piece of shit and sleep all day and wish/pretend to be dead, but at least she'd stop getting punched for blocking stairs.

You can't kill Mon as either of them and considering the beach ending is technically a game over, he would resurrect anyways. However NONE OF THIS MATTERS because Mon faking his death broke the seal, "kill the remaining traitors" only applies to Eus and Gor. Nobody else.

The black statue only returns you to B001 and unvoids you, it does not undo any progress you made in other regards.

Only way out is to Egg yourself or do Mon's funhouse all over again.
Here's a fancy secret tip for quick-ending your Cif run without having to go on Mon's fun centipede ride. Prepare yourself cause stuff gets weird. First, go to a level that allows floor digit manipulation, and crash the game by removing the "B0", but wait, isn't that place empty? Make 2-3 steps around your immediate surrounding, try every direction, in one direction, you'll see a mystery shadow. Follow it. Find mystery egg. Give mystery egg six love taps and wait six seconds (like that one chest), prepare yourself for max spooky, and your Cif run is now over.
I have no idea what the flying frick this spooky egg business is about, all I know is it can be used for run-ending. I really wish there was just a button in the pause menu for that.

In the trailer we see Add becoming Gray but we also see this version of Add more closely resembling her Human prototype so this is presumably right after Add was born. If that is the case HOW THE FRICK IS CIF THERE Unless, that thing is in fact not Cif considering this form is just a Shadow, maybe Add tried to model Cif after this creature?
Also, if Add used the appearance and personality of the colleges of her Human self to create the void lords, how did proto Add turn into Add to begin with, considering Add probably fell off the comet and the comet came as a result of finding the primodial fighter none of this adds up properly. Also I get why the comet is called Lillith. Lillith is considered to be Adams first wife on non canon christan mythology and the mother of all deamons and Grays story she tells Lille implies that the void lords came from the comet. However in the same mythology Lillith and Asmodeus are the source of deamons not Lillith and Abbadon.

It's entirely possible that Gray ISN'T Add and that Lilly isn't Green Orange / Lillith / Whatever and that the memories are bullshit. It IS a lotus eater machine at the end of the day.
It's hinted at in ZeroRanger's demo that Erasure OS was developed by using the lotus israeliteel (or a part of it?) as the main component of a computer.

Why pointless ? It's pretty clear Cif knew about Add hiding inside Gray, it's why she was monitoring her so closely and why she has a strong interest in Lillie and drags her into the dungeon. She wants to understand what Add's plan was. That sequence could just be her inviting a memory wiped Add to the dungeon to observe her

Erasure's consciousness is stored in a "strange, stone-like core" that the planetary defense forces of the planet ZR takes place on used to build a hyper-advanced central computer. In truth, she is a human(?) consciousness stored in a fragment of the Lotus israeliteel's power that at some point got buried in the planet and was later found.
"Despair" is Erasure's sister, who was the pilot of the Primeval Fighter that ancient humans built with the Lotus israeliteel's power and sent to the stars to wipe out alien civilisations, as a preventative measure to protect humans from the rest of the universe's ire for taking the Lotus israeliteel for themselves. The Primeval Fighter eventually lost sight of itself and its task and returned to humanity as its enemy (the alien vessel codenamed Green Orange). Erasure foresaw this attack, and the planetary defense force prepared plenty of firepower including the three experimental, Lotus israeliteel-based fighters that the player characters and their third sister use. Everything except the Type-B and Type-C fighters is taken over by Green Orange, via brainwashing (in the case of fighter Type-A, at least) and Despair hijacking the computer Erasure (which is why you meet it within Green Orange in ZR stage 4). In the ending scenes after the True Last Boss, in the highly unstable state of the universe they find themselves after changing the timeline, Erasure momentarily takes a human-shaped form to talk to the player, and wishes for everyone's happiness in the new universe, whether they all happen to be reborn in it or not.
Alright so I finished the game with Gray (the true end)
Now I'm contemplating the work required to get the super staff and finish with Lilllie, so I killed snake already but I imagine that I have to go 2/3 down to kill big head and then suicide myself to go back to the start so I can retrun to zero, zero, zero... and grab the staff then go all the way down AGAIN.
Lillie's dungeon is a pain in the ass, even the second and third times.

Finished Gray and Lillie's modes and unlocked Cif mode but when I used UI shenanigans to warp to B000there was just an empty floor with stairs, no statue or chest, is there supposed to be anything there?
You can get an ending there but it would require you to intentionally go through the trouble of releasing the chest as Lillie and then NOT picking up the rod, finishing normal Lillie ending, and then going there as Cif
you can find it on Youtube as "joke ending", though I would not recommend searching on youtube until you're all done with the game
okay how the frick do you avoid that one attack in IF, the one where it shoots constant rings of round black bullets that then shoot a bunch of pointy black bullets upon hitting an edge?
What I did was let the first wave home in at me at the botton, then move to the top-right corner of the screen to bait the second wave into going there, then wrap around CCW past the exploding first wave of bullets while baiting the third wave on the left side of the screen, then carefully micrododge back to the bottom center. It's the hardest attack for sure, good luck.
It feels like the musics in the true ending aren't in the OST, or am I wrong ? I'm looking for the tracks during the shmup sequence. Are those from zeroranger ?
If you mean the ones on youtube then they aren't finished uploading, the dev uploads one track a day, if you mean sound test then it's there
