Appreciate it but I'd rather figure it out myself. Hard mode is no fucking joke. Even the more straightforward ones are ones I clear through sheer dumb luck.
B052+ is breaking me, I get so close I can taste it but there's always something I screw up on.
I need help on B052+ as well. Any hints? Pic related is as far as I've got. I assume the next step is to lure the smile on to the button while you run to the exit, but not sure.
What is this game even? Why am I collecting locusts? Why did a comatose guy take all of them? Why can't this idiot look to one side without jumping in that direction? Why does resting just shut the game off?
>What is this game even?
Sokoban puzzles with a multi-generational narrative >Why am I collecting locusts?
Locusts are demon food >Why did a comatose guy take all of them?
The statue does that. The jiangshi-looking one also does that. Both for the same reasons but different methods. >Why can't this idiot look to one side without jumping in that direction?
Restrictive movement is a major part of sokoban puzzle games. >Why does resting just shut the game off?
Artistic choice, but I agree it is really stupid.
I believe if you give them enough they will transform into a rock. The main purpose of being able to give the zombie guys locusts one at a time is to reduce your locust count faster than dying over and over again (that is my guess at least).
I'm missing 6 gems and they're probably some of those picross ones. I've grabbed like 3 or 4 hidden ones accidentally
I'm down to 21 left. Do you know if any of them showed up only in NG+ with Lillie? I already saw one new on in NG+ that I didn't see with Gray. I suspect there are more like that?
Once I finish the game voided, will I have to play it again to get all the murals or do I get into NG+ right away? Right now I only have the sword and I'm at B160 something.
For now, just stop thinking and blast through the remaining floors on instinct, enjoy the show. After that, you'll have to try again but don't get voided, and for the love of god GET THE FUCKING
WINGS or you WILL want to have a nice day when you get to NG+
.
After doing voided, you'll at least be able to solve the other murals that aren't broken in the next run. The rest you could maybe do, but not as important doing them then.
Depends, there's secrets that tie to it hidden and main plot later.
In the launch trailer, it looks like Cif is the one that makes the deal with Gray that takes her womb, given it's the form Cif has in her brand, the start of Lillie's route, and the Cif fight.
But it makes a lot more sense that Add is the one that made the deal with Gray, since Gray has demon power at least as early as getting "killed" by Johann and being able to do damage to Bee in demon form, if not even before then and it being why she was able to be Gray the Destroyer.
I think Add's demon form is identical to what Cif presents as her's since Cif herself is just the little fetus off to the side in the fight, and her associated enemy might be the shadow clones since they also copy the exact silhouette of endgame Add. At least, that's a way it makes more sense that Add comes in contact with Gray first to give the pendant/take the womb, and so that Cif doesn't just happen to not remember someone she made a contract with and took the womb of.
I just got the DIS ending, where do i go from here?
Do i go back on Gray to get CIFs brand or do i do the Lilie brand?
Also i never did my own brand as it sadly requires free corners and the first brand floor doesn't have enough tiles. What am i missing?
Reposting my question, because I'm honestly lost and I'd appreciate some help >NG++ I beat Mon, got Cif's bran, saved Bee and the title screen has changed. What now?
The rock in Cif's workshop(?) place after her brand tells you what to do next
Start back up as Gray and solve any murals you've missed they'll eventually lead you to a final zone. Feel free to ask if you need any help like where to start/which ones especially are needed.

there's two crowds of people on Ganker:
those who enjoy playing and discussing games
and those who enjoy shitposting.
Popular games attract shitposters, so a niche game with autistic secrets like this is peak Ganker since you'll be playing and sharing findings with your fellow anons.
If it's your first time through, there's a valuable lesson to be learned that you won't be taught otherwise unless you stumble into it. Or get blindsided by it in NG+.
And also, you can retry as many times as you want without penalty.
It's your discovery/story mode that you can use to start gathering puzzles solutions and informations about secrets and mechanics. Plus it has a cool ending. Then you will be able to tackle the game in earnest.
Reminder to not draw attention to frogs, do not reply to them, do not even mention them indirectly, they are a cancer killing this site and any post containing a frog is automatically bait.
So I have Saved Bee
Went through the Seventh Circle as Grey really quick to see if anything is different (I didn't see anything)
Did Cif's brand
Killed the traitors
Got the upgraded staff So now I'm guessing it's time for DIS which I'm assuming is the final blank mural at 225 but I don't know the pattern. Is that normal? Did I miss something?
>finish gray playthrough >start lillie playthrough >acquire rod and head next floor >this starts playing
I get that things get carried over but damn I didnt your sins get carried over lmaooo
I just noticed this and I doubt it's at all relevant but when you pull the infinity out of the locust counter, the screen doesn't show infinity, it shows NEGATIVE infinity.
I have no idea what the fuck the former is, but in terms of obtuse puzzles it's nowhere close to blindly decoding a phonetic alphabet in a non-english language. I'd place it somewhere around ESA or Anodyne in terms of difficulty.
Actual tier list right here
You know the average "who suffered the most" charts? They made hundreds to millions of people experience the "suffered the most" experience but as an actual egg unable of any movement
There's another one for if the screen shows "you have fallen" and you close the game before the fadeout completes. The crime is "cheating certain death"
They didn't say anything? If you mean I should attack the two embryo things I don't see a way to get close to them, they start shooting danmaku point blank when I get in their face
Is this remotely close? I'm assuming its in order of the zones going down the void, but I don't remember who the rule statue and arrow statue were for.
thought I fucked up when i got it, but remembered I had a block already
That CIF fight is fucked up. Is there some sort of efficient way of doing it? Why is it so fucking pointlessly hard. They after you're done with two phases you get super hexagon square mode where you have to bounce over the radiating square energy, all while other projectiles keep raining down on you. What is the fucking point?
2h in to the game, and at B080 and seeing review with 50h of play makes me scared.
How the fuck does this game keep up the puzzles for 50h?
At B080 they are already feeling a bit samey
Simply put, there's 224 floors. In the main path. There's another 224 in NG+ that are way harder. And even more in various "side" areas. There's also a NG++ After a few loops on NG, you get proficient at them and they feel less samey and more familiar.
Just beat my first runs Void locket ending first, and then I got the three items and unlocked the other ending with a new character Do you get anything for beating regular NG without items? Is it better to push with the new character now or should I go back as Gray to try and figure out the remaining murals first?
ok so i replayed with grey to get all the items so my lillie run doesnt feel like cbt, do i need to finish the run with grey again or can i just refuse to eat the fruit and reset for the item brands?
Uh I think I beat DIS? There was a shmup section I absolutely sucked at and when the boss entered final phase I'm pretty sure I got hit and lost and was prepared for my save data to be erased but still watched credits and a cutscene of Lily coming down do earth, is that it? I didn't understand anything. What to do next, engrave SE brand?
Okay I saw some nice pictures, fucked up enemy and a cute fat girl but that wasn't much, where to go next?
I think I saw enough endings with minimal guidance so I don't care about being spoiled anymore.
You can do DIS with Lillie which is the only way Gray and Lillie can be canon at the same time
I personally think Add was just sealed in the rod but some people think she somewhat fused with Gray when she makes the devil deal in the store page trailer
>finish this game, need something similar >try La Mulana, make it 10 hours in >get filtered by the bosses >try Baba Is You, make it 10 hours in >get filtered by the puzzles
fuck, this game's difficulty was perfect
I have the knife, but I suck at getting close to bosses without running into them. also have the gun (out of ammo, though I guess I could save for more) and a handful of other subweapons but none are very powerful. I read that you could get an axe but not feasibly without spoiling how. I might do it anyway because I don't see a way to continue without it
>The game also allows players to import their saved game from Mass Effect 2, which Stormdancer says is part of a larger puzzle.
kek what in the goddamn?
la mulana is legitimately bullshit, you're meant to whack and walk into every single fucking wall or you won't be able to clear it without a guide
drop it, there's still time. void strangers doesn't contain 1% of the bullshit la mulana has
La mulana 1 has a few really obscure ass puzzles you might want to google. 2 doesn't have any like that. Although both of them do expect you to learn the mantra systems for the end game puzzles. There also are hints for every single puzzle in both games (besides maybe how to access hell?). how well you do will be a testament to how god your notes end up being
I am? There is a monument for every single complicated puzzle in both games. Even the mario and MJ ones
I believe if you give them enough they will transform into a rock. The main purpose of being able to give the zombie guys locusts one at a time is to reduce your locust count faster than dying over and over again (that is my guess at least).

I don't know what fucking plaque refers to the Mario pipe shit (there's 2 of them), but for the other one, there is a plaque that tells you to seek the dancing man... He only "dances" when changing screens and is very small, but he's there.
I personally think Mulanas would benefit from castlevania mode, shitter ending for people who just want to see credits and true end for people who put up with deciphering bullshit.
La Mulana is a great game, it's just not meant to be played alone. You need to get multiple people in a chatroom or something and compare notes as you play. Everyone is going to stumble onto different things so collectively you'll figure it out, just don't look up guides.
I haven't minded the exploration and puzzles, I downloaded a note software where you can put images or text (I've been OCRing anything you can read) on a giant whiteboard and draw connections between them, so I have both a schizo web of notes for figuring out stuff and a visual map of each area
there's been plenty of bullshit like you say, though I can put up with it so far. but the 3rd and 4th bosses are really reminding me that I suck at video games
...was there any point to doing this again if I already killed the head on this playthrough and now I am realizing that the blob of flesh was the fucking head oh god that was fucked up
but yeah any benefits to having done this other than fun times and level skips which I may undo due to not wanting to miss any new stuff

there is no point to do doing ANYTHING as lilith besides reaching the end-floor to unlock CIF mode. Or anything in CIF mode.
The entire sword-less gor route is just to show how ruthless Bee is. Yes, its fucked up and pointless.

Its just how it is.
If you Use your knowledge of Mon's skips/brand rooms/Locust skips you can skip ALL OF THE ADDITIONAL ENCOUNTERS FOR BOTH LILIE AND CIF without any downsides regarding ending scenes/unlockeables.
Yes, you'll miss out of a little bit of the game experience, particularly lilith's escort/companion, but ultimately you'll still reach the true endgame route anyway.
This game clearly wasn't designed for any one person to reach 100% completion alone/blind, and honestly, not even with help.

For the love of DIS, someone please make a meme out of , there is so much potential
You can cheese the fuck out of Baha with the Caltrops if you bring enough, which will give you super easy access to something you can get on the surface even without that.
Elmac really shouldn't be giving you that much trouble, you just spam Shurikens and whip as needed. It's not worth trying to spam knife even if it's better DPS.
I'd say the next place to find something important though is in Temple of the Sun. Namely, E-3, the screen with the huge sun face.
Neat. went looking for the carcass as Cif and found the jumpscare dude just running in place on one screen. I guess that's where he starts. He didn't go for me for several seconds.
I just found four fake rocks that lead to a pit
I am very close to finishing my first unvoided run and I don't want to do anything that might make me have to start over, should I go in?

Such small pleasure, such a huge impact.
I'd call the soundtrack of this game a shit if it didn't nail such small moments this fucking well.
ultra-endgame spoilers ahead. It makes Gray feel uneasy because its the lesser version of the rod that Gray herself hid from all her allies. There's no extra lore reason for why it makes Lilith uneasy besides the fact that everything makes you uneasy in that playthrough.
I'm still not sure I fully buy Gray actually being Add. In the Steam trailer Gray makes a deal with Cif that involves her giving up her womb, and I don't see Cif giving her mother she idolizes so much that kind of fee. Or hell, Add even needing a demonic deal to begin with.
100% as a brainlet? No.
With looking up hints when you get stuck/can't figure out meta/puzzles? Yes.
Basically Baba is You, but without needing to spoil the specific puzzles to get to all the hidden content. And deeper lore.
Really need an in depth 0stRanger mechanics explanation, I have no clue what's going on there.
What are the orbs doing? How to power up? How the lives counter works? How the cats work? Sometimes I explode for no reason without being hit? I managed to beat it I guess but without TLB I saw in story mode so how to get it?
See those 5 dots on bottom right? Each thing you kill fills that, 5 kills and an orb spawns. Picking an orb powers your shot and gives you a score multiplier for a couple seconds, that can stack up to x128. If you break an orb all enemy bullets are converted into medals for score. Your shot power is also your life, when you're hit you lose power, if you take a hit at minimum power you die.
Cats, you need to find them hidden in the stage, sword them for them to appear, then shoot them to rack up points.
If you beat the high score (2 million) you'll get told how to unlock something.
>Your shot power is also your life, when you're hit you lose power Would be really cool if there actually was a power/life in the UI, would be much more useful than a kill counter
This may show you some ways to proceed if you want to try the standalone shmup mode, it's pretty fun.

Every five kills spawns an orb? Huh, that's good to know.
SO,
did anyone figure out yet how sequentially-unlocked things work?
some anon posted about a CIF route using the upgraded rod to get into DIS, do you really have to port to b000 as grey with both seals broken, not open the chest, finish the run, finish the automatically-started-lilith run, then go back to b000 as CIF to get it?
Cif cannot get the true staff, if you kill the lords to make the staff accessible as Lillie and go there as Cif you get a joke ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aIKIvS61dw
>copping the black souls post and just spoilering everything
At least leave a few hints for first-timers still up and some coomer-gayry up that doesn't matter so it actually fits.
so for item rooms
is it always just "the next 6x6 room you enter correlates to the last mural you found"?
or can you just do any mural in any room provided you're good enough, or what?
Benis spoilers ahead Every mural presented is "supposed" to be entered in the very next 6x6 room.
Some 6x6 rooms support more than one brand.
All 6x6 rooms support two or more brands with the upgraded rod.
Brand rooms double as teleports. With the upgraded rod, you can teleport to/from 23/223 freely at brand rooms.
You should probably go with the infinity brand instead, there are a lot of easy crystals there,
notably, one for each alphabet letter at the end
Oh, unless you want a ballbusting experience you should probably die, I think killing yourself repeatedly should work on 1.0.2 but I haven't tried it

(me) Also you'll get the option to start with any items you unlocked previously which will make NG+ bearable if you aren't a masochist or a puzzle genius
Uhhh... I first beat the game voided but I didn't write down the infinity brand anywhere, I don't even remember seeing it. Did I zoom past it? Do you have an image?
So I just beat the game with the first character. Had to restart hard mode but does anything bad happen if I use the infinite locust brand, or sword/wings/memory
you're fine, they make NG+ easier. there are ways to get rid of the infinite locusts if you want to later
why do some steam reviews say the game is trash with no reset button or that you have to beat the game to unlock the game or something?
there's a good amount of repetition and frustration in this game, so for anxious players and backlogfags it's a pretty solid filter. there is a mega link posted in an earlier thread, btw

I personally think that you're first time around should be done with no items. Early they aren't to helpful but they really trivialize the later floors. But of coarse they are supposed to be a reward for finding them along the way.
But in NG+ that shit with no items is balls to the walls and you'll struggle even with items, I know I did.
Anonymous
Even with them the later part of Lillie still stumped me, you can't even use the items for a lot of clones and animal herding levels.
Don't know if I'm retarded but there was one NG+ doppelganger puzzle, forget the floor number the one with the two glass bridges, that I barely completed with wings enabled. 30 minutes on that puzzle bare minimum, probably closer to an hour.
I would need video evidence that room is completeable without items because I literally can't think of a way it's possible

I consider using items to be skipping a puzzle. Which I don't think anyone needs to be blamed for. But, it's a puzzle game, presumably you bought it partly because you wanted to do the puzzles, so skipping them kind of feels like missing the point.

i do also want to see however much of the game i can see without getting mindbroken and without spending the rest of my life playing, though.
there are people out there who treat video games as a checklist to be rushed through, checked off, and forgotten about as quickly as possible. so to them, a game that asks you to do a lot of repetition, a lot of grasping blindly at nothing (potentially for no reward because you were completely wrong), it's just too much. i think void stranger's audience is small but the people who like it will love it.
>no reset button
Correct, its a sokoban where the "reset button" requires expendable "lives" that can't be farmed.
There's much more to that, but ultimately, you can't just brainlessly bruteforce every level. Thats what the complaint boils down to. You sometimes have to plan out barely a dozen moves in advance instead of "wasting" a life trying it for real.
This isn't even a "casual" filter, its a "total fucking dumb retard" filter.
>farm restarts by teleporting backwards via UI manipulation or CIF statue stair teleporting >effectively waste time that should've been spent unlocking the infinite locust brand >"farm" restarts by closing and reopening game on a level with a chest >get judged and get let off as long as you don't keep doing it >"farm" restards by copypasting your .save file on a hard level >actually effctively bypass the lives counter at the cost of your soul
not much of a win, my dude
The game doesn't properly start until you beat it as Gray without voiding. That said I dunno why they complain, normal mode is really easy, even if you're not good at sokoban games so it's no problem and it teaches you the mechanics.
What was the point of 07HP besides maybe brane manipulation? I think I finished most of the game content but outside of the healing succubus I don't think it ever mattered.

said. No one's going to have their experience ruined if you post a floor number or allude to a lore tidbit unspoilered.
This is fine when its a decade-old+ game.
Anons should know better than to visit threads about that game.
For a new game? that revolves around mysteries and secrets? that lauched less than a year ago?
come the fuck on.
Oh is this the sound player brand? I thought we hadn't figured that out yet. I just throw this into any brand room right? Do I need the fancy wand or does the starter one work.
Thief NPC that steals your staff, 0st Ranger IF secret boss, NOWAY dev room sliding puzzle and Carcass ending all have unique soundtracks, those are the ones most people miss. Mostly the IF one since holy fuck that is hard, but "at least" you don't need to beat the secret boss, only reaching his scene is enough

I got her to show up with the wings on so it's definitely not that.
You input that one in the menu, along with item brands etc. It was figured out some time ago, it just required listening to all songs in the game. The secret boss of the secret difficulty of 0st Ranger is what most people got blocked on
Also, the game's composer is uploading tracks on his yt channel if you want to see the names there.

What are those weird grid things I find in hidden rooms? I've noticed that specific coordinates glow, are they showing me the location of a gem or something?
once you learn basic strats for solving that type of puzzle they're easy. honestly it was the first type of puzzle in this game where i said "oh thank god, that's it? sweet." now, figuring out what the FUCK to do with the solutions is another matter, but that's void stranger for ya...
If I delete my save at the white lady in the overflow zone do I get a special cutscene when I start the game like with the black egg or just regular intro?

Eitther you're you've been way overesterimating or you just can't count.
this part of the story memory makes no sense to me, if Gray was for all intents and purposes Lily's surrogate mother, why would she sugg and fugg Johann to get him to marry his daughter? Feels like people are reading something else into the text.
It was medieval times yo. Young aristocrat daughters getting married off to higher standing nobles and whatnot. Thing was Johann supposedly had no reason to marry Lily so Grey sweetened the deal to make it happen.
It's been a while since I did Grey's memory scenes but the last couple in the garden and the ceremony scene I definitely remember there being implications that they got busy
Finished ZeroRanger (or at least got to the updated intro screen about the great oppressor, loved it except for THAT part (but I did love how reminiscent it was of the dev's old fraxy videos). Didn't particularly care for its style of storytelling what with it being kinda meta and incorporating individual playthroughs and messing around with the title screens.
I'm assuming this game's gonna have similar storytelling so how much can I expect to get out of this game if that stuff doesn't really appeal to me? Like a silly question to ask, I'm fairly early on in it (~B80) and I'm at least having fun so far. Just not sure if I can stick with it the whole way through and end up not having a satisfying ending.
ZeroRanger's meta elements are presented in a format that implies the game itself is speaking to you, the player, because it is in some way sentient. Haunted, cursed, just an AI gone wrong, whatever. When you get the postgame mode, you've purged the game of what ails it, and left in its place something playable and filled with joy.
In comparison, and without proper spoilers for the game, Void Stranger is not that. There's a layer of plausible deniability to everything that seems meta once you pay attention to the setting and story, and the game doesn't ever truly try to speak to you- it just tries to pull the "weirdly prescient game" trick a few times, at worst. It's meta adjacent and feels very in tune with you as you play, but is not what I would call genuinely meta. The style of storytelling is also a lot less dense, slower-paced, and benefits a TON from it. There's so much mood squeezed out of every event as it all has time to sink in.
I had never done a picross puzzle before playing this game. I learned how to solve them just to find some gems and now I sit down and do a few every day they're a lot of fun
They are really fun, I was addicted to them a couple of years ago and would spend hours on those massive ones. I wish the ones on this game were harder
that one's a bitch of a puzzle
best to save it for later, if you have anything else Look for rooms with a huge snake in the wall.
Each such room represents an empty tile. Piece them together.
newfag who just bought the game. what's the suggested way to play it for a first playthrough? i can already tell im gonna replay the game, do wanna restart the whole thing every time i die or should i just play blind like normal to start
take it from a habitual savescummer, the hardest lesson to learn is that there is no actual "failstate" in this game
something will happen if you die too much and it will feel like one, but the game ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT treat it as a failure.
Just keep puzzling.
your first playthrough should be as naive as possible, and it's fine if you die. once you finish that, you will have a sense of what you need to do on other playthroughs.

>look at negative steam reviews >shitters complaining that they have to do puzzles in a puzzle game and that they are being punished for failing too much and that they're offended by one of the endings
get the fuck out of my vidya
>figured out gimmick of the murals early in my playthough >first thing I got didn't really change the gameplay just gave lore >2nd one I figured out gave the [wings]
It feels like it was supposed to be postgame/ng+ stuff that I stumbled upon early. Should I turn it off? I just finished B110 if that matters.
It's more impactful to find it after you finish your first Voided run, but you might as well leave them on and start chewing on secrets. You'll be going through these levels quite a few times.
I feel NG is a pretty accessible challenge without items, so I'd do it without them. But NG+ is really hard without that extra help, so I'd use them there so levels don't all become half-hour obstacles in the way of discovering new lore. And if you really love puzzles then they're still there once you've uncovered the game's secrets.
I'm sorry anon but I am a super retard, I got stuck on B93 without wings and I had to go back and get them.
Here's the retard wing only solution. Grab a trance tile on the left corner and place it to the right of the left temp tile.
Then do same but with the white tile in top right.
You now have a loop you can just keep running around until you have enough shadows to win.

A few secrets involve it, and it's good for speedrunning and going back for items you missed. It's also very useful in certain levels but I don't think it's mandatory on them.
do NOT do this Lillie voids no matter what in the end, there's no reason to resetting it. The only thing you miss are memory crystals but you can run through again later (with burdens) to get them
FUCK I've spent too long in SE's discord, refresh your page and get that shit off there sorry about that
drop into the eclipse talk to the developer and then go through the black statue statues DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GAME, COLLECT THE STAFF ON B002 I REPEAT, DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GAME, COLLECT THE STAFF ON B002 Enjoy what you receive 🙂
>is this the only one like this?
Thankfully, yeah. Actually I kinda appreciate how bullshit this room is, even if I initially seethed super hard at it. It's an interesting curveball and is really fitting for DIS, which already bends existing rules and adds new ones quite a bit
So someone tell me how wrong is my headcanon.
The game builds on top of ZeroRanger. In that game, humanity steals a garden gnomeel and all aliens hate them until they are wiped off from the universe.
Now in Void Stranger, we are told of Add, a Void Lord. Cheekily Add is refered by the title of the game and the title of the shmup setion,
i.e. Add is the Void Stranger -> 0st Ranger -> 0ranger -> [Great] Oranger -> the big bad from the ZeroRanger.
At multiple points in the story we are shown a Big Black Comet (BBC) coming down to earth and killing of people.
(A cutscene says something like "humanity learned to fear the stars")
Having said that, Add is not alone, it has children the 7 sin demons. One of them, Eus, commits sin (loving / not killing people) then somehow Add decides to do the same and lives as the mortal Gray (most likely because Add was in lesbians with the queen).
In Add's absence, it setups DIS (a machine surrogate) so that the void/hell/dungeon is under control and to protect its powers and memories.
In the meanwhile, Bee is heartbroken, Cif is looking after everyone, Lev is trying to usurp Adds powers, Mon simps after Lev, Gor mops not having a body, Tan is in seclusion, Erasure(?? computer thing from zeroranger, super sentai character, zero justice) shows up one day to study DIS and acts as its herald.
Then the tree cutscenes happen, gray goes to the void, there's a locker inside of me, then either lillie route happens or gray loops with Hispanicy stairs during thousands of years until she manages to get the super rod and the true ending.
During the true ending Lily, Lev, and Gray/Add or Lillie end up time traveling/looping to the beginning of times (idk why but the same thing happens in zeroranger).
Lev space fight happens, asks for Adds memories, gets pwned, they happily wake up at the beach. Shmup IF is another route in fight.
During all those years gray spends looping the void, modern human scientists are studying the meteor/void/dis.
Where did the whole 'Grey is in love with the Queen' thing come from?
I keep seeing people saying it but can't remember a single time where she ever mentions her (aside from the 'which star is she' bit in the true ending).
I think its implied by the snake. The lillie route says that the snake takes the form of what you love the most. I think at some other point we see the queen had a big rack to.
It's a stretch in my opinion, but most of the scenes at her grave are emotive. It also sets parallel with how she decided raising Lillie for Lily, and raising Lily for the Queen. Instead of continuing being a mercenary.
Tail. During a lillie run, she says that she appears as one's true love. Lillie evidently doesn't have one, but how Tail looks in Gray's route is evidently Gray's true love. And we see what the queen looks like in one of the endings and it perfectly matches Tail.
Kinda forgot about that, probably didn't even put 2 and 2 together in the first place. Her knockers aren't nearly as BEEG as Tail's, but I guess the hair is the same. Hm. Maybe Gray did love the Queen, but wanted something... More.
>neither What about Lev?
Cursed image. I suppose you can draw some parallels, but it's a bit of a stretch anyway.
Didnt finish the game fully yet so not reading it all but should I play Zero Ranger next?
You should play ZeroRanger anyway, it's really good. Comparatively light in terms of story, though it still has some lore and cool (really cool) moments.

Not him but I'm playing Zero Ranger and stage 2 is fucking me up hard, reminds me of stage 2 of Ikaruga which I also struggled with. Glad the game seems to expect you to use continues. I do want that 1cc eventually though.
The developers have clearly played undertale based off past twitter posts so I think it's probably deliberate.

I take it you haven't seen the monk boss fight in ZeroRanger then?

I am bad at shmups and haven't gotten around to ZeroRanger yet. What did I miss?

Anonymous
There's a boss fight in ZeroRanger which is straight-up an Undertale fight, with the enemy sprite at the top of the screen and you in a little box at the bottom dodging attacks.

Anonymous
Yeah, that's a lot more explicit.

I am bad at shmups and haven't gotten around to ZeroRanger yet. What did I miss?
And not just some random enemy either, it's pretty much sans undertale.
The only thing here I feel like adding is that DIS existed prior to the black comet's collision with Earth (as seen in the carcass ending)
Where did the whole 'Grey is in love with the Queen' thing come from?
I keep seeing people saying it but can't remember a single time where she ever mentions her (aside from the 'which star is she' bit in the true ending).
Tail takes on the Queen's appearance to Gray, and in Lillie's path Tail says she takes on the appearance of one's lover. The Queen is seen in Lillie's DIS ending, hairstyle matches perfectly.
>Also, I dont know what to make of the womb at the player's brand room. That's likely the womb taken from Gray as part of Cif's deal, if you watch the Steam trailer.
I slept at all the trees and saw the scenes. The trees are back now after dying and not eating the fruit. Is there any reason to rewatch the scenes again or am I good?
You're mostly good. Some of the scenes have paths with extra dialogue (e.g. winning/drawing/losing to the princess tantrum, DDR performance), but don't worry about it unless you're an ultra-completionist.
I claim this thread in the name of Bee.
I prefer my horns fat.
The things I would do to Cif's horns.
B052+ is breaking me, I get so close I can taste it but there's always something I screw up on.
I have a video of it, if you're at your wits end.
Appreciate it but I'd rather figure it out myself. Hard mode is no fucking joke. Even the more straightforward ones are ones I clear through sheer dumb luck.
There's actually only like 3 of those really hard ones, that take almost 2 minutes of flawless execution to clear.
I need help on B052+ as well. Any hints? Pic related is as far as I've got. I assume the next step is to lure the smile on to the button while you run to the exit, but not sure.
Failing the lore check right now, which ones did I get wrong? I really don't want to reset...
You've got Mon and Bee swapped.
Damn, I was so sure "got locusts" guy was Mon, it worked, thanks
If you did Mon's fight as Cif, the freezing tail should be pretty easy to associate with the freezing statue
You got 3 and 4 mixed
>Couldn't figure out the statues from the lore
>figured it out from the brand images instead
Does it just reset you if you fail?
Room repeats endlessly if you get them wrong but there's a hole to reset if you want to go back
How?
You go there as another character
mfw
Playing it makes me feel UN-EASY because the puzzles are so HARD.
Can someone spoil me the last brand? I suck at shmups and just want to see what it is.
What is this game even? Why am I collecting locusts? Why did a comatose guy take all of them? Why can't this idiot look to one side without jumping in that direction? Why does resting just shut the game off?
Shutting my game off without warning is not fun.
>What is this game even?
Sokoban puzzles with a multi-generational narrative
>Why am I collecting locusts?
Locusts are demon food
>Why did a comatose guy take all of them?
The statue does that. The jiangshi-looking one also does that. Both for the same reasons but different methods.
>Why can't this idiot look to one side without jumping in that direction?
Restrictive movement is a major part of sokoban puzzle games.
>Why does resting just shut the game off?
Artistic choice, but I agree it is really stupid.
>Both for the same reasons but different methods.
what
Shortcuts
>>Why does resting just shut the game off?
>Artistic choice, but I agree it is really stupid.
disagree you are suposse to take a break and comeback
Is there a point to giving locusts to the zombie boys? They just keep taking them
I believe if you give them enough they will transform into a rock. The main purpose of being able to give the zombie guys locusts one at a time is to reduce your locust count faster than dying over and over again (that is my guess at least).
When does this tie into zero ranger?
For now, just stop thinking and blast through the remaining floors on instinct, enjoy the show. After that, you'll have to try again but don't get voided, and for the love of god GET THE FUCKING
WINGS or you WILL want to have a nice day when you get to NG+
.
After doing voided, you'll at least be able to solve the other murals that aren't broken in the next run. The rest you could maybe do, but not as important doing them then.
Depends, there's secrets that tie to it hidden and main plot later.
You unlock NG+ by completing a non-voided run
Plot spoiler observation:
At least, that's a way it makes more sense that Add comes in contact with Gray first to give the pendant/take the womb, and so that Cif doesn't just happen to not remember someone she made a contract with and took the womb of.
should the hole not be here? what did I misunderstand
Where the leech and the maggot collide
I feel like I'm over thinking this, but I keep getting corner cucked or 2block cucked on covering the second button. DIS floor
you'll use the rod to fill one of those holes
Start on the left
>Simply playing it makes you feel uneasy
It actually does
I just got the DIS ending, where do i go from here?
Do i go back on Gray to get CIFs brand or do i do the Lilie brand?
Also i never did my own brand as it sadly requires free corners and the first brand floor doesn't have enough tiles. What am i missing?
Soul! Soul! The answer is Soul. Praise me.
That makes zero sense as an answer. Moreover, we're not just solving for what, but also where and how.
Reposting my question, because I'm honestly lost and I'd appreciate some help
>NG++
I beat Mon, got Cif's bran, saved Bee and the title screen has changed. What now?
Now you go back to Gray and beat the final dungeon.
Oh shit, ok, thanks.
The rock in Cif's workshop(?) place after her brand tells you what to do next
Start back up as Gray and solve any murals you've missed they'll eventually lead you to a final zone. Feel free to ask if you need any help like where to start/which ones especially are needed.
>female protagonist
>pixelshit
>indieshit
Yet Ganker loves it. Did I wake up in the wrong timeline or something???
It's this new thing called "Discussing videogames", I highly recommend trying it out instead of frogshitting.
By the empowerment what is that vile?
Hitoha from Mitsudomoe being angry. Go watch it, it's hilarious.
there's two crowds of people on Ganker:
those who enjoy playing and discussing games
and those who enjoy shitposting.
Popular games attract shitposters, so a niche game with autistic secrets like this is peak Ganker since you'll be playing and sharing findings with your fellow anons.
nothing wrong with female protags as long as they're at least cute or hot, preferably in an eastern art style
also the pixel art style is actually well done and detailed when it needs to be, lots of very nice scenes
and booba
Is there ANY reason I should be playing through the game with VOID after dying instead of restarting?
If it's your first time through, there's a valuable lesson to be learned that you won't be taught otherwise unless you stumble into it. Or get blindsided by it in NG+.
And also, you can retry as many times as you want without penalty.
keep going you will learn a lot of Hispanicy things along the way
Quite a few actually. It's worth beating the game while voided once.
It's your discovery/story mode that you can use to start gathering puzzles solutions and informations about secrets and mechanics. Plus it has a cool ending. Then you will be able to tackle the game in earnest.
The ending sequence.
banger song
i too ate the fruit after too much fucking around early on. just gonna carry my shame and see what happens
At any case i think anyone should play through the game voided at least once.

>frogposter
Reminder to not draw attention to frogs, do not reply to them, do not even mention them indirectly, they are a cancer killing this site and any post containing a frog is automatically bait.
So I have
Saved Bee
Went through the Seventh Circle as Grey really quick to see if anything is different (I didn't see anything)
Did Cif's brand
Killed the traitors
Got the upgraded staff
So now I'm guessing it's time for DIS which I'm assuming is the final blank mural at 225 but I don't know the pattern. Is that normal? Did I miss something?
You already said the pattern it was, what's the issue?
>finish gray playthrough
>start lillie playthrough
>acquire rod and head next floor
>this starts playing
I get that things get carried over but damn I didnt your sins get carried over lmaooo
Nani?
It's an eldritch DJ :3
Yume Nikki reference?
I just noticed this and I doubt it's at all relevant but when you pull the infinity out of the locust counter, the screen doesn't show infinity, it shows NEGATIVE infinity.
That's common in computer systems when dealing with overflows
Is this game more like Stephen's Sausage Roll or more like Tunic?
More like Tunic.
There are some Hispanicy puzzles, but the game is mainly about learning about hidden mechanics and finding secrets.
I have no idea what the fuck the former is, but in terms of obtuse puzzles it's nowhere close to blindly decoding a phonetic alphabet in a non-english language. I'd place it somewhere around ESA or Anodyne in terms of difficulty.

B(ee)ased

Actual tier list right here
You know the average "who suffered the most" charts?
They made hundreds to millions of people experience the "suffered the most" experience but as an actual egg unable of any movement
I've seen it posted here a bunch but I've never gotten put on trial. How many times am I supposed to touch snake boobs for that to happen?
So THATS what i've been prosecuted for, and here i was wondering what they were referring to.
Are you actually sleeping at a birch tree?
Trial triggers when you close the game.
A minimum of I think 10.
You can also,
>Edit your save files
>Take a Locust from a chest twice by closing and reopening the game
There's another one for if the screen shows "you have fallen" and you close the game before the fadeout completes. The crime is "cheating certain death"
I've been there for as few as five. I would guess it could go even lower, though probably not if it was only once.
There's also other deadly sins that trigger that.
I got put on trial for 2 (two!) counts.
HOW MANY HITS DOES CIF TAKE?
More than 20 and then an endurance round.
2 if you're a pussy.
What the fuck there's not enough ground to dodge after 15
Give me the pussy way
She restores tiles after too many disappear
There's an attack that respawns all the tiles.
Anyways, you DID do a Cif run before Dis and talk to the doppelgangers, right?
They didn't say anything?
If you mean I should attack the two embryo things I don't see a way to get close to them, they start shooting danmaku point blank when I get in their face
You can safely smack them when they're charging their next attack, anon.
Mon has such a funny oval head
This game is hard. I hate being a brainlet. I want to duck Gray’s tits
I do not want to miss out on this gem. But I'm also not sure how to go about this. I'm guessing I need to drop both rule statues
You're on the right track. Keep in mind that you need to figure out how to drop them simultaneously
Is this remotely close? I'm assuming its in order of the zones going down the void, but I don't remember who the rule statue and arrow statue were for.
thought I fucked up when i got it, but remembered I had a block already
Rule is Add. Not sure what you mean by arrow.
5 of the statues are in correct position.
the one I marked 7 kinda looks like an arrow pointing to me. I'm calling 5 rule statues since they get mad if you break their rules
Ah, then "Arrow" is Add, I thought that's the rule since they disappear when you follow the rules.
And "Rule", or Dragon, is Lev.
Cool, so I was close. just confused two of them entirely this whole time lol
You should spoiler that next time
there is a really easy way to end the fight quickly, however you'll miss out on an extra screen
I really wanna do it but
I have gotten close
2h in to the game, and at B080 and seeing review with 50h of play makes me scared.
How the fuck does this game keep up the puzzles for 50h?
At B080 they are already feeling a bit samey
Simply put, there's 224 floors.
In the main path.
There's another 224 in NG+ that are way harder.
And even more in various "side" areas.
There's also a NG++
After a few loops on NG, you get proficient at them and they feel less samey and more familiar.
got it, thanks
224 for ng sounds good
How the fuck are you suppose to resolve the Mioens mural?
I may have gotten a little carried away...

Sadly not, it's a tomboy rogue.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Sokobon-style puzzle adventure game about a tomboy with fat tits descending into the Void.
I made an autohotkey script to draw brands for you when starting a new game.

I can't make heads or tails of anything going on in the shmup
I had to void for the bee fight. There aren't any Gems between her and Cif were there?
doubt it
she eats all your locusts so unless you kill her first try it's going to happen anyway
I can confirm that there are not. I thought I was possibly missing a gem there but found another Piccross in the stinky hole.
These threads look so comfy, but I can't join in because I'm still trying to go in blind.
Sure ya can, make comments/short blogposts about your experiences.
Just stay out of the *redacted* and ***.
I got busted by the ZERO Judge, Prosecutor, and Defense (which didn't help at all) that accused me of 11 charges of lewd behavior. I plead guilty.
Acceptable. Your punishment for such actions is to be haunted by it.
Just beat my first runs Void locket ending first, and then I got the three items and unlocked the other ending with a new character
Do you get anything for beating regular NG without items?
Is it better to push with the new character now or should I go back as Gray to try and figure out the remaining murals first?
>b83 and some puzzles before it
wiping the sweat from my brow. this game makes me feel like a shitter, but i’m still progressing somehow…
You got a fairly long road ahead of you soldier. Remember to take regular breaks.
ok so i replayed with grey to get all the items so my lillie run doesnt feel like cbt, do i need to finish the run with grey again or can i just refuse to eat the fruit and reset for the item brands?
Uh I think I beat DIS? There was a shmup section I absolutely sucked at and when the boss entered final phase I'm pretty sure I got hit and lost and was prepared for my save data to be erased but still watched credits and a cutscene of Lily coming down do earth, is that it? I didn't understand anything. What to do next, engrave SE brand?
yeah
Okay I saw some nice pictures, fucked up enemy and a cute fat girl but that wasn't much, where to go next?
I think I saw enough endings with minimal guidance so I don't care about being spoiled anymore.
That is the end of the story.
The writing is pretty questionable, Gray was the only planned storyline and it shows.
So Lillie stuff is not canon?
Where do I find background on the shit that happened in the end anyway, I really don't get the Gray being Add thing
You can do DIS with Lillie which is the only way Gray and Lillie can be canon at the same time
I personally think Add was just sealed in the rod but some people think she somewhat fused with Gray when she makes the devil deal in the store page trailer
>DIS with Lillie
Oh god, are the puzzles even harder?
AAAAAAAAAAA FUCK YOUUUUUU
You have no one to blame but yourself.
Come on that's like 3 minutes away
>finish this game, need something similar
>try La Mulana, make it 10 hours in
>get filtered by the bosses
>try Baba Is You, make it 10 hours in
>get filtered by the puzzles
fuck, this game's difficulty was perfect
>get filtered by the bosses
stop fighting bahamut with your shitty whip and explore more
I have the knife, but I suck at getting close to bosses without running into them. also have the gun (out of ammo, though I guess I could save for more) and a handful of other subweapons but none are very powerful. I read that you could get an axe but not feasibly without spoiling how. I might do it anyway because I don't see a way to continue without it
bosses rarely unlocks stuff during the earlygame
just explore more, find more health upgrades and they will become easy
Try ESA or Frog Fractions 2
>The game also allows players to import their saved game from Mass Effect 2, which Stormdancer says is part of a larger puzzle.
kek what in the goddamn?
la mulana is legitimately bullshit, you're meant to whack and walk into every single fucking wall or you won't be able to clear it without a guide
drop it, there's still time. void strangers doesn't contain 1% of the bullshit la mulana has
Is the sequel any better?
in terms of bullshit you'd have no way of knowing it's MILES better, still kinda rough though compared to void strangers
La mulana 1 has a few really obscure ass puzzles you might want to google. 2 doesn't have any like that. Although both of them do expect you to learn the mantra systems for the end game puzzles. There also are hints for every single puzzle in both games (besides maybe how to access hell?). how well you do will be a testament to how god your notes end up being
>There also are hints for every single puzzle in both games
You can't be serious
I am? There is a monument for every single complicated puzzle in both games. Even the mario and MJ ones
NG+ definitely has its own set.
>mario and MJ ones
excuse me?
I don't know what fucking plaque refers to the Mario pipe shit (there's 2 of them), but for the other one, there is a plaque that tells you to seek the dancing man... He only "dances" when changing screens and is very small, but he's there.
I personally think Mulanas would benefit from castlevania mode, shitter ending for people who just want to see credits and true end for people who put up with deciphering bullshit.
>2 doesn't have any like that
Not exactly true.
The Brahma puzzle is pure bullshit, but it's optional.
There are clues for that one too, but it also takes putting together a lot of other lore. Or you can google the real stuff
La Mulana is a great game, it's just not meant to be played alone. You need to get multiple people in a chatroom or something and compare notes as you play. Everyone is going to stumble onto different things so collectively you'll figure it out, just don't look up guides.
I haven't minded the exploration and puzzles, I downloaded a note software where you can put images or text (I've been OCRing anything you can read) on a giant whiteboard and draw connections between them, so I have both a schizo web of notes for figuring out stuff and a visual map of each area
there's been plenty of bullshit like you say, though I can put up with it so far. but the 3rd and 4th bosses are really reminding me that I suck at video games
you legitimately haven't seen the worst the game has to offer still and it'll break you when you find it
>by the bosses
Some of the later bosses in LM are atrocious (Palenque in particular), but getting filtered by Amphisbaena, Sakit, and Elmac? Nah.
>Amphisbaena, Sakit
these were fine so I don't know why I'm struggling so much now
Post your inventory screen and describe the boss you're struggling on and I'll give you an idea of where to explore next.
nta but this was how far I got
...was there any point to doing this again if I already killed the head on this playthrough and now I am realizing that the blob of flesh was the fucking head oh god that was fucked up
but yeah any benefits to having done this other than fun times and level skips which I may undo due to not wanting to miss any new stuff
there is no point to do doing ANYTHING as lilith besides reaching the end-floor to unlock CIF mode. Or anything in CIF mode.
The entire sword-less gor route is just to show how ruthless Bee is. Yes, its fucked up and pointless.
>there is no point to do doing ANYTHING as lilith besides reaching the end-floor to unlock CIF mode
she gets a unique scene at the end of DIS and plays completely differently from Gray in the shmup
If there are no unlocks, its meaningless.
pathetic point of view
after beating absolutely everything I went back and got Gray's void ending just for the PURE KINO you get to experience
Bahamut / Ellmac
You can cheese the fuck out of Baha with the Caltrops if you bring enough, which will give you super easy access to something you can get on the surface even without that.
Elmac really shouldn't be giving you that much trouble, you just spam Shurikens and whip as needed. It's not worth trying to spam knife even if it's better DPS.
I'd say the next place to find something important though is in Temple of the Sun. Namely, E-3, the screen with the huge sun face.
>fuck, this game's difficulty was perfect
this game is to sokoban what ZeroRanger was to shmups
is this a world of horror type scam or is it actually good
it's a finished game, never in EA
thanks
Excuse me?
That's not where you carve it, I just did on B023, don't need the special staff
Why does Grey have such huge tits? I watched the first two dreams, she’s a dyke isn’t she?
Just did smelly hole and stabbed the thing at the end, did I mess up?
Neat. went looking for the carcass as Cif and found the jumpscare dude just running in place on one screen. I guess that's where he starts. He didn't go for me for several seconds.
I just found four fake rocks that lead to a pit
I am very close to finishing my first unvoided run and I don't want to do anything that might make me have to start over, should I go in?
The pit is very likely to make you void, don't recommend
Leave that pit for another time
So has anyone unlocked Cif's challenge the right way?
I'm missing 6 gems and they're probably some of those picross ones. I've grabbed like 3 or 4 hidden ones accidentally
who is this sassy lost child?
this child would call me a gay for forgetting to spoiler my image
also how do I solve this room without either killing myself or the child
>naked monkey
I clapped
So can I avoid the Hispanicy steps at the end of the dev halls?
Yep
how do I do it without killing the clone? I didnt grab any locusts
Is this a brand room? The mural is empty, so...what do I do?
>empty
exactly
but how do I get rid of the solid tiles? and the one with the statue at the bottom left?
you need another staff
So, now is not the time?
also the bottom left statue is in a floor that blows up
yes, it's absolutely impossible with the tools you currently have
should I be paying attention to the shape of these easy rooms?
Come back to it later, it looks like you still have a lot of content to get through. Make sure to take good notes
Anything to do here?
I fell in the hole and it counted. dunno if it goes somewhere different than the stairs
FUCK I've spent too long in SE's discord, refresh your page and get that shit off there sorry about that
drop into the eclipse
talk to the developer and then go through the black statue statues
DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GAME, COLLECT THE STAFF ON B002
I REPEAT, DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GAME, COLLECT THE STAFF ON B002
Enjoy what you receive 🙂
Any help here? I thought I solved this based on the hint, but nothing in the room changed?
PEMDAS
Thank you. I was too caught up in my lust for punishing the traitors of the void.
You sure you're not getting leech and maggot mixed up
651188239
is there a way to finish this room without killing the child, killing yourself, or
you got any locusts?
I have 28 of them and do not want to skip a tree
>Simply playing it makes you feel uneasy
What is this Reddit-tier wankfest? You guys are shilling this retro-style puzzle game so hard. Muh new game+++-=<&
k
Ok retard.
If I finished DIS with Grey, is there a reason to do it again as Lillie?
Also how do I get the "game clear" screen now?
Lillie gets new dialogue and her shots and melee are entirely different from Gray's
Go use that brand in the mural you got at the end and follow what this post says
talk to the developer and then go through the black statue statues
DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GAME, COLLECT THE STAFF ON B002
I REPEAT, DO NOT CLOSE YOUR GAME, COLLECT THE STAFF ON B002
Enjoy what you receive 🙂

If anyone has no interest in playing La Mulana but is curious about how bullshit the puzzles are I recommend this video
>the opening scene
>the chat boxes when you start the game
>the sound effect that plays after you close the chat box
>the small chant afterwards
>roughly one minute into the first zone's soundtrack
Such small pleasure, such a huge impact.
I'd call the soundtrack of this game a shit if it didn't nail such small moments this fucking well.
I kept seeing threads for this game, so I watched the opening scene and that alone got me to give the game a try. perfect atmosphere
Is there a latest version of the gray map?
>makes you feel uneasy
>game gets easier the more you play
what did they mean by this
ultra-endgame spoilers ahead.
Is this accessible for brainlets (me)
As long as you can connect a few dots, yeah.
You will have to grow your brain in the process and it will be painful
100% as a brainlet? No.
With looking up hints when you get stuck/can't figure out meta/puzzles? Yes.
Basically Baba is You, but without needing to spoil the specific puzzles to get to all the hidden content. And deeper lore.
Nope, Gray's story is the tutorial, but if you know how to get the sword and wings they trivialize MOST of the puzzles.
spoiler that shit moron
You can always ask for help if you get stuck.
>Your shot power is also your life, when you're hit you lose power
Would be really cool if there actually was a power/life in the UI, would be much more useful than a kill counter
This may show you some ways to proceed if you want to try the standalone shmup mode, it's pretty fun.
[Embed]
Every five kills spawns an orb? Huh, that's good to know.
SO,
did anyone figure out yet
how sequentially-unlocked things work?
some anon posted about a CIF route using the upgraded rod to get into DIS, do you really have to port to b000 as grey with both seals broken, not open the chest, finish the run, finish the automatically-started-lilith run, then go back to b000 as CIF to get it?
Cif cannot get the true staff, if you kill the lords to make the staff accessible as Lillie and go there as Cif you get a joke ending
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aIKIvS61dw
what the fuck,
some anon had posted how he got to DIS area as CIF a few threads ago, I thought it was legit
I had seen this before, but only now I noticed we get to see Lev's items
Shit Ive just realized that its the mimic thats talking to you, I thought it was Gray talking.
Now the dialogues make sense.
Yeah and it changes based on the character you're using.
Gray gets a pep talk
Lillie gets a slap in the face
>copping the black souls post and just spoilering everything
At least leave a few hints for first-timers still up and some coomer-gayry up that doesn't matter so it actually fits.
so for item rooms
is it always just "the next 6x6 room you enter correlates to the last mural you found"?
or can you just do any mural in any room provided you're good enough, or what?
The latter but it mostly depends if you have the upgraded rod for some of the murals/rooms combinations, otherwise the former
alright thanks
there sure are a lot of glass tiles in these rooms, makes me want to kms. but every mechanic in this game does i guess
Try dividing the brand in lines or columns and work through the floor like that
57 is a universal brand room, some brands can be input in more than 1 room
Benis spoilers ahead
Every mural presented is "supposed" to be entered in the very next 6x6 room.
Some 6x6 rooms support more than one brand.
All 6x6 rooms support two or more brands with the upgraded rod.
Brand rooms double as teleports. With the upgraded rod, you can teleport to/from 23/223 freely at brand rooms.

spoiler that link retard
In NG+, I'm now voided. Did I make a mistake?
not unless you want crystals
also, if you get stuck on a puzzle you don't have the option of dying and starting over
You should probably go with the infinity brand instead, there are a lot of easy crystals there,
notably, one for each alphabet letter at the end
I don't know what that is!
Have you gone back to the input brand screen since finishing the game with Gray? It should be there.
No, it just started me on a new game
Oh, unless you want a ballbusting experience you should probably die, I think killing yourself repeatedly should work on 1.0.2 but I haven't tried it
(me)
Also you'll get the option to start with any items you unlocked previously which will make NG+ bearable if you aren't a masochist or a puzzle genius
you're fine, Lillie gets voided at the end no matter what you do
you only get the infinity brand if you finish Gray's run voided
Uhhh... I first beat the game voided but I didn't write down the infinity brand anywhere, I don't even remember seeing it. Did I zoom past it? Do you have an image?
it should show up when you go back to the title screen
The ones you have unlocked show on the side of the input panel so don't worry
<<651194179
who are you talking to
if I link his post people can unintentionally mouse over mine and see it even after he deletes it
the title itself is spoilers
I think the only reason people like bee is because she has gigantic tits, she's a nasty mean little cunt otherwise.
I feel like even the game tries to make her feel sympathetic in cif's route.
So I just beat the game with the first character. Had to restart hard mode but does anything bad happen if I use the infinite locust brand, or sword/wings/memory
you're fine, they make NG+ easier. there are ways to get rid of the infinite locusts if you want to later
there's a good amount of repetition and frustration in this game, so for anxious players and backlogfags it's a pretty solid filter. there is a mega link posted in an earlier thread, btw
Why would you want to though?
you can't do floor manipulation because you have no locust count to swap in
it doesn't really matter for NG+ anyway because Lillie always gets voided
So apart from what this anon says
is there any reason I wouldn't put in all brands when restarting?
Not as far as I can tell no, other than the fact that enabling wings is proven to lower your IQ by at least 50 points
Don't listen to this gay no wings is for shittiers that like self torture
see what I mean?
I gotta say, the wings and sword eased up the game so much that I felt like it's borderline cheating. I was already expecting someone to say that I didn't beat the game for using them
I personally think that you're first time around should be done with no items. Early they aren't to helpful but they really trivialize the later floors. But of coarse they are supposed to be a reward for finding them along the way.
But in NG+ that shit with no items is balls to the walls and you'll struggle even with items, I know I did.
I did that one itemless and it pissed me off so much I wrote a step by step guide on the Steam forums out of rage, took me like 3 hours to solve
Even with them the later part of Lillie still stumped me, you can't even use the items for a lot of clones and animal herding levels.
I consider using items to be skipping a puzzle. Which I don't think anyone needs to be blamed for. But, it's a puzzle game, presumably you bought it partly because you wanted to do the puzzles, so skipping them kind of feels like missing the point.
i do also want to see however much of the game i can see without getting mindbroken and without spending the rest of my life playing, though.
why do some steam reviews say the game is trash with no reset button or that you have to beat the game to unlock the game or something?
there are people out there who treat video games as a checklist to be rushed through, checked off, and forgotten about as quickly as possible. so to them, a game that asks you to do a lot of repetition, a lot of grasping blindly at nothing (potentially for no reward because you were completely wrong), it's just too much. i think void stranger's audience is small but the people who like it will love it.
k maybe i'll pirate it
it's a pretty interesting game. if you end up enjoying it and putting a lot of time in, i hope you'll support the devs.
>no reset button
Correct, its a sokoban where the "reset button" requires expendable "lives" that can't be farmed.
There's much more to that, but ultimately, you can't just brainlessly bruteforce every level. Thats what the complaint boils down to. You sometimes have to plan out barely a dozen moves in advance instead of "wasting" a life trying it for real.
This isn't even a "casual" filter, its a "total fucking dumb retard" filter.
>that can't be farmed
he doesn't know
>farm restarts by teleporting backwards via UI manipulation or CIF statue stair teleporting
>effectively waste time that should've been spent unlocking the infinite locust brand
>"farm" restarts by closing and reopening game on a level with a chest
>get judged and get let off as long as you don't keep doing it
>"farm" restards by copypasting your .save file on a hard level
>actually effctively bypass the lives counter at the cost of your soul
not much of a win, my dude
you forgot just being fucking good and never losing a locust
I actually made it through Lillie's entire run without knowing about the 3 locust trick. There were some close calls, though...
Oh come on, that doesn't even count.
The game doesn't properly start until you beat it as Gray without voiding. That said I dunno why they complain, normal mode is really easy, even if you're not good at sokoban games so it's no problem and it teaches you the mechanics.
What was the point of 07HP besides maybe brane manipulation? I think I finished most of the game content but outside of the healing succubus I don't think it ever mattered.
i think it was just a stylistic quirk. Everything hits you for 999hp anyway.
you took fall damage
Quick brand input when?
Undo when?
>
>DUDE NO JUST
>OK BUT
>
, WHAT NOW?
>
! [SPOILERS].
>Don't use spoiler
>"BRO SPOILER THAT SHIT"
Real chads put a hint of what they're talking about before the spoiler so people know if its something they can check or not.
>new post
>it's a block of black
Some people here really need to step up their spoiler posts. Like
I'm slowly naming all the tracks with their youtube names and order. In about a month we should have the whole thing done
There's one way to speed up your work anon.
Oh is this the sound player brand? I thought we hadn't figured that out yet. I just throw this into any brand room right? Do I need the fancy wand or does the starter one work.
You input it at the game start
You must hear all themes in-game at least once to unlock it
Huh, after 4 plays, I wonder what I could have possibly missed? Is there some random npc theme no one remembers?
Thief NPC that steals your staff, 0st Ranger IF secret boss, NOWAY dev room sliding puzzle and Carcass ending all have unique soundtracks, those are the ones most people miss. Mostly the IF one since holy fuck that is hard, but "at least" you don't need to beat the secret boss, only reaching his scene is enough
>Thief NPC
you know, I actually never spawned that npc in all my runs. I must have accidentally warped past it.
More likely you had items that prevented her spawning. I believe that you can't have sword or wings when finding her.
I got her to show up with the wings on so it's definitely not that.
You input that one in the menu, along with item brands etc. It was figured out some time ago, it just required listening to all songs in the game. The secret boss of the secret difficulty of 0st Ranger is what most people got blocked on
Also, the game's composer is uploading tracks on his yt channel if you want to see the names there.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBSUFZVwrf817KAyfi8BX32gSkvi4o1Gc
thanks anon I'm pretty sure I'm just missing then one you mentioned but fuck me is getting enough points to unlock IF hard
I don't think you NEED to hear everything to actually use the brand. It'd just be hearing everything unlocks it legitimately.
Yeah you can use any brands even if you have "unlocked" them.
where do you get this one?
Brrrr brrrr shsh
What are those weird grid things I find in hidden rooms? I've noticed that specific coordinates glow, are they showing me the location of a gem or something?
Your intuition is on point.
are you familiar with picross games?
picross
ffs
don't worry, these are easy
once you learn basic strats for solving that type of puzzle they're easy. honestly it was the first type of puzzle in this game where i said "oh thank god, that's it? sweet."
now, figuring out what the FUCK to do with the solutions is another matter, but that's void stranger for ya...
If I delete my save at the white lady in the overflow zone do I get a special cutscene when I start the game like with the black egg or just regular intro?
regular, I'm not sure why you would ever want to do it
I mean, if it showed me something cool it would be worth it, I'm not particularly attached to my gems
Until I see a no items, all chests, all crystals NG+ run posted here, you're all shitters to me
The third part of Cif makes me want to fucking kill myself and then the developer in that order
This is unacceptable. There's too much visual clutter, you can't fucking see. Holy shit this is so unfair. God fucking damn.
have you tried instantly killing her by smacking the little bro on the right or getting good?
just solve the puzzle, puzzle-solvers
>Feel like playing again
>Start up game
>Forgot I rage quitted the Cif boss and it takes me straight back to it
I hate this is there any way to cheese this stupid fight it needs like 40 blocks to kill
>is there any way to cheese this stupid fight
Bro... consider hitting the fetuses
But they shoot shit at you if you go near them?
see
so if i'm looking to get as many gems as i can in grey's playthrough, does that mean i have to kms down to 1 locust in the room where the only way to progress is to feed the statue a locust? the more you give, the more you skip, right??
There are stairs in that room that you can access. You might find a way eventually.
> the room where the only way to progress is to feed the statue a locust
there is no such room in NG
There IS a room like that, but only if you arrive there under some pretty normal circumstances.
i feel silly, because i literally JUST got that. if i simply would've talked to her again i wouldn't have even had to post. ah well.
>Friend made me pick up this game
>Won't stop talking about this and zerogayry
>Play it
>Its really boring and gay
>Got up to a tree checkpoint
>Stopped playing
Look just because you like anime and KAWAII ECCHI BOOB doesn't mean Im gonna play your game. Music is subbar but not awful I guess.
We dont need fifty of these threads by the way
>finished like 5% of the tutorial
that doesn't seem like enough time to make a very educated judgment, duder.
cry more
Come see my counter thread fags. Im gonna win this culture war
>subbar
yeah confirmed filtered low IQ
>I love the smell of CHIPTUNES HOW HECKIN GROOVIN
Shut up fag
oh man he doesn't even know why I called him low IQ
>We dont need fifty of these threads by the way
I do, shut the fuck up
>We dont need fifty of these threads by the way
There have been less than half that many threads on Ganker.
Eitther you're you've been way overesterimating or you just can't count.
responding to bait ass retard ass moron
So did Johann fucked both Gray and the princess?
seems that way yeah
for a diet Griffith he did pretty alright for himself
Yup. Grey seems to have fucked him in a deal to get him to marry Lily and then he got Lily gregnant before she made her pact
this part of the story memory makes no sense to me, if Gray was for all intents and purposes Lily's surrogate mother, why would she sugg and fugg Johann to get him to marry his daughter? Feels like people are reading something else into the text.
I think it was more of a political marriage and Gray didn't have seggs with him based on her reaction to her friend setting her up on a date imo
Thanks for the reassuring reply anon! Sounds promising!
Is it possible to play picross in game or do I have to screenshot, solve in MS Paint, and look for the level later?
screenshot
http://www.landofcrispy.com/nonogrammer/nonogram.html?mode=build
If you used a solver you didn't beat the game
I had never done a picross puzzle before playing this game. I learned how to solve them just to find some gems and now I sit down and do a few every day they're a lot of fun
I didn't ask
i asked and i care. i'm glad you're having fun with those, they're great.
They are really fun, I was addicted to them a couple of years ago and would spend hours on those massive ones.
I wish the ones on this game were harder
Screenshot and solve in mspaint
They just point to a gem so think if finding the floor is actually worth it to you.
Don't give the troll (You)'s, that how's they thrive. They are the QUIT HAVING FUN guy from that meme.
I did the later.
Does stuff with "Dr. Lily" from the black egg ending gets elaborated on somewhere or it's just random bullshit?
It does, in NG+
Where the fuck, I already went through NG+ NG++ and DIS and didn't see shit
go knock on the egg as Cif
I did that when I got Cif, it was just couple of sentences of someone talking to embryo(Cif?), didn't really add anything
Some text flashes on screen in ZeroRanger's language
OURFLOWER
MANUSYA
DESTROY
So the demons were made by black onions?
You get a portrait of all scientists for collecting all crystals but I don't think it's really expanded upon
I cut the tail and now what?
live with your decisions.
poor gray is too anime autistic for secks
Did you have a specific reason to do that or just did because you could? If you had a reason you should know where to go

where the fuck do i put in the cif brand?
at the start
then what do i do on b223, lol
post a picture bro i can't memorize every floor
wtf did i come here for... anything im missing?
holy fuck, TAKE the stairs im such a retard
b223 is automatically solved you just need to grab the stairs lol
what? no fucking way, i remember havimg to solve the fuck out of that
self-own
take the stairs.
Can you do a rodless run? Like jump the hole with wings?
How do I know what the unbroken shape is like?
a certain egg gives you a certain hint
you will never solve this puzzle on your own it's actually built for community effort
that one's a bitch of a puzzle
best to save it for later, if you have anything else
Look for rooms with a huge snake in the wall.
Each such room represents an empty tile. Piece them together.
um bros I dont like this
newfag who just bought the game. what's the suggested way to play it for a first playthrough? i can already tell im gonna replay the game, do wanna restart the whole thing every time i die or should i just play blind like normal to start
regardless of what happens keep pushing forward
take it from a habitual savescummer, the hardest lesson to learn is that there is no actual "failstate" in this game
something will happen if you die too much and it will feel like one, but the game ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT treat it as a failure.
Just keep puzzling.
your first playthrough should be as naive as possible, and it's fine if you die. once you finish that, you will have a sense of what you need to do on other playthroughs.
thanks!
also nobody told me the itch version comes with a free steam key. i could've gifted it to a friend, goddammit
>look at negative steam reviews

>Gor is a slug
I thought she was a squid or something because of her body that chases you in the white void
Maybe I'm misremembering how it looked
>bee - obvious
you mean it's obvious she's a fly, right? the lord of the flies, even
add - some kind of bee/wasp
eus - snake
bee - fly
mon - centipede
tan - goat?
gor - slug
lev - bat
cif - nerd

This shit took me five fucking hours, twice I fucked up at the end of the third phase where the screen goes dark
Fuck that piece of shit, for all the work I did she should fucking fellate me.
How many hits does it even take to get to the second phase? I got to 26-ish before I gave up.
Some autist has done it without wings and only the basic rod.
THREESOME WITH CIF AND BEE
HUGE SECRET STORY SPOILERS
In the voided run if you're paying attention, it is revealed that there's a safety locker... inside of me....
How does it fit?

>Heaving

>figured out gimmick of the murals early in my playthough
>first thing I got didn't really change the gameplay just gave lore
>2nd one I figured out gave the [wings]
It feels like it was supposed to be postgame/ng+ stuff that I stumbled upon early. Should I turn it off? I just finished B110 if that matters.
It's more impactful to find it after you finish your first Voided run, but you might as well leave them on and start chewing on secrets. You'll be going through these levels quite a few times.
depends on whether you want to do the puzzles or not
I feel NG is a pretty accessible challenge without items, so I'd do it without them. But NG+ is really hard without that extra help, so I'd use them there so levels don't all become half-hour obstacles in the way of discovering new lore. And if you really love puzzles then they're still there once you've uncovered the game's secrets.

the chests are placed very conveniently
I'm sorry anon but I am a super retard, I got stuck on B93 without wings and I had to go back and get them.
Thanks
Opening chests leaves your character pointing down every time. It's one of the reasons you can open empty chests
Holy fucking shit are you serious? I had no idea that's what the empty chests were for fuck.
It's one of those small details about the game that you never think about until you go full retard and attempt a NG+ itemless run
...
I finished ___DIS and never knew that
it's also required for the crystal in B144
Here's the retard wing only solution.
Grab a trance tile on the left corner and place it to the right of the left temp tile.
Then do same but with the white tile in top right.
You now have a loop you can just keep running around until you have enough shadows to win.
>You can go to the UI
Is this important later
To get to the end not so much.
To do all secrets a little bit.
Actually you need to to get the clues in Cif's domain that'll allow you to reach the second staff
> use the staff on the ui. Its funny
A few secrets involve it, and it's good for speedrunning and going back for items you missed. It's also very useful in certain levels but I don't think it's mandatory on them.
you retards are getting too loose with the spoilers
Be patient he's a newfag
Oh god oh fuck what do I do
Hm, you can reset/close the game?
If you keep wandering in there you might find something though.
>make it to final floor without dying
>NG+ no items
filtered on the first floor
oh fuck it's so over
Nobody will fault you for using infinite lives, NG+ is bastard hard
That's what happens to most players, I do suggest giving up
do NOT do this
Lillie voids no matter what in the end, there's no reason to resetting it. The only thing you miss are memory crystals but you can run through again later (with burdens) to get them
>NG+ no items
>Just void bro 😉
You really want that guy to suffer, don't you?
ye
Retarded question, but which ones are leeches?
snek
I spend this much time in the dev room and this is what I get?
She isn't even best girl
see
you have one more big thing to unlock
>Accidentally fell in front of the laughing statue while trying to reset the room
>Lost my infiinte locust
It's so fucking over for me
It wants you to grow into a real gamer
Look behind you Bee
Man, Gray had it rought
They're called burdens because its Add's memories right?
What do you miss out on if you take the easy way out of the Cif boss?
A cute picture + some dialogue.
What am I missing besides a few braincells
Nothing its bullshit. Talk to the rock again.
Pause the game, no really.
What the fuck I didn't even notice the change after exiting the menu to take the screenshot, is this the only one like this?
Yes, it's a very bullshit room. The game would be better of without it.
The others are just hard, no absurdist solutions like that.
>is this the only one like this?
Thankfully, yeah. Actually I kinda appreciate how bullshit this room is, even if I initially seethed super hard at it. It's an interesting curveball and is really fitting for DIS, which already bends existing rules and adds new ones quite a bit
DIS should of had a room that forced you to edit your save to get past it.
no
Hey how'd you get that left statue there
So someone tell me how wrong is my headcanon.
If 'character with big titties' is your only criteria then I think Grey was in love with a lot of people.
And we see what the queen looks like in one of the endings and it perfectly matches Tail.
>we see what the queen looks like in one of the endings
Huh, we do?
Neither, thankfully.
>Huh, we do?
Kinda forgot about that, probably didn't even put 2 and 2 together in the first place. Her knockers aren't nearly as BEEG as Tail's, but I guess the hair is the same. Hm. Maybe Gray did love the Queen, but wanted something... More.
Cursed image. I suppose you can draw some parallels, but it's a bit of a stretch anyway.
You should play ZeroRanger anyway, it's really good. Comparatively light in terms of story, though it still has some lore and cool (really cool) moments.
>Little shit that acts like a friendly tutorial character only to fuck you up
>Suddenly transforms into a human devil
>Tricks you into killing characters so he can succeed in his plans
>Big plan is to access something holy powered by 7 souls that ascend him into godhood monster form
Not him but I'm playing Zero Ranger and stage 2 is fucking me up hard, reminds me of stage 2 of Ikaruga which I also struggled with. Glad the game seems to expect you to use continues. I do want that 1cc eventually though.
>neither
What about Lev?
The developers have clearly played undertale based off past twitter posts so I think it's probably deliberate.
>The developers have clearly played based off past twitter posts
I take it you haven't seen the monk boss fight in ZeroRanger then?
I am bad at shmups and haven't gotten around to ZeroRanger yet. What did I miss?
There's a boss fight in ZeroRanger which is straight-up an Undertale fight, with the enemy sprite at the top of the screen and you in a little box at the bottom dodging attacks.
Yeah, that's a lot more explicit.
And not just some random enemy either, it's pretty much sans undertale.
The only thing here I feel like adding is that DIS existed prior to the black comet's collision with Earth (as seen in the carcass ending)
Tail takes on the Queen's appearance to Gray, and in Lillie's path Tail says she takes on the appearance of one's lover. The Queen is seen in Lillie's DIS ending, hairstyle matches perfectly.
Also, I dont know what to make of the womb at the player's brand room.
Maybe CIF's big shadow form can be used by other beings, just like the rhombus thingies dont seem to be exclusive to Lev in the Shmup IF ending
>Also, I dont know what to make of the womb at the player's brand room.
That's likely the womb taken from Gray as part of Cif's deal, if you watch the Steam trailer.
Didnt finish the game fully yet so not reading it all but should I play Zero Ranger next?
Why is this game popular in Ganker?
Is that closer to Omori or Undertale?
I've had Void Symphony stuck in my head for the past four days. Send help.
Time for the thread to get Hispanicy stairsed again
I slept at all the trees and saw the scenes. The trees are back now after dying and not eating the fruit. Is there any reason to rewatch the scenes again or am I good?
You're mostly good.
Some of the scenes have paths with extra dialogue (e.g. winning/drawing/losing to the princess tantrum, DDR performance), but don't worry about it unless you're an ultra-completionist.
Cool
anyone got a pirate link?
