>Havent bought the game is it worth the full price or should i just wait for sale?
I found it worth the 12 euroshekels, though your mileage may vary. >How much meta puzzles does the game have and how long is it?
Many. If you want to actually see everything known so far, budget 40-60 hours in total.
>is it worth the full price
Personally? Yes. I'm currently at almost 50hrs and I still have thing I want to do/try >meta puzzles
Depends on your definition I guess? There are a couple things where you definitely need to mess up with the UI, but for the rest you can simply ignore it most of the time
thanks anons, I guess if the game doesnt go on a discount next sale I'll get it full price

Wait you're not pulling my leg, are you? What happens if yo press Escape? I've noticed that during the memory moments if I keep pressing Enter it starts doing something, but I wanted to watch the memory so I never saw what happened if I kept doing it.
>Wait you're not pulling my leg, are you? What happens if yo press Escape? Holding it just quits the game. The spicy stairs give you just enough time to quit before you get resetted
>I've noticed that during the memory moments if I keep pressing Enter it starts doing something, but I wanted to watch the memory so I never saw what happened if I kept doing it. It just skips the cutscene. Useful if you seen it already
Question regarding the white space area.
Lady's statue offers me to start again, but that resets the progress?
Does it differ in any way from using void egg in the dark space? Is it going to completely wipe my save data or something?
Well, gotta save it for the very end I guess. Wanted to see if there is perhaps a different dialogue if you get there as Cif. There was a neat little cutscene at the final tree though.
>trial if you try to save edit your save
Huh
I always assumed the save files were a red herring because of the way they look
Is there a video of the trial? Not on my PC right now
Specifically this is the one for editing your floor.
Maybe the others are different, but this was the only time I got this scene to show, there's some trick to the trigger I'm missing.
Also you can make really long webms of this game, I've never hit Ganker's 2-minute limit before.
The two tiles to the far left are your break, you probably want to grab one of those. Do you have the items or are you doing itemless like a total psycho?

oh, you pushed the wrong tan statue I think, you can push the one on the left using Lillie while keeping the doppelganger out of trouble, and then you go back to the left and have the doppelganger put the other statue on the button
There's usually an anon or two who mentions it every time there's a shmup thread, but shmups in general don't get brought up often unless if they're Touhou.
It's less Sokoban and more of a grid based puzzler where positioning and floor tile manipulation matter, but if you don't like grid based puzzlers in general then this isn't the game for you. The real schizo shit is hidden behind some proper puzzle gaming chops.
I am currently trying a no void run with the daughter Lillie and the puzzles are starting to burn me out. Each one taking longer and longer to solve. I've heard the game has items to help. Can someone give me some quick info on them?
>voidless itemless NG+
Welcome to hell, this is actually even harder than the late endgame content. As for the items, you should take notes of the murals inscribed on the walls, if you're paying attention they should become fairly obvious fairly soon.
Consider killing yourself so you can redo the levels as Gray and grab the items, once you get an ending sequence with them you'll unlock the secret brands that let you pre-equip yourself with the good shit.
>Consider killing yourself so you can redo the levels as Gray and grab the items
Ok. I think I will do that. NG+ Lillie with no items is sucking the fun of the puzzles I had playing as Gray.

I did it as Gray. I completed DIS as both Gray and Lillie, and then went back to Gray to win the fight properly and also not frick up the last section of the shmup.
I just started. Are these a thing? Just a statue? or is there something else I can do with them, they always spawn in corners/walls so I can never push them
If something in this game seems suspicious but you can't understand it, just keep playing and you'll figure it out later. This is especially true with these statues.

Oh for sure. I actually managed to finish that first try, but I was already hardened by a bunch of other grid based puzzlers (including 100%ing Baba Is You) and it still was an absolute rat bastard to finish.
Bigspoiler: I just finished my third playthrough as Cif and rescued Bee, I'm thinking of starting another playthrough with all runes enabled in the morning or is that ill advised
No, is pic related Cifs? I know it's supposed to be hidden in one of the stages but I wasn't sure which yet and this seems like the only one that might fit, but its only 5 rows. I'm not sure which one would be Eus
My notes are pretty bad but I did record some of my runs so I can at least look through the stages, I originally thought it was this one but when I went to put it into a stage I realized they're usually 6x6 and this is 7 wide
Expanding your field of vision so you can look at your ship and enemies at the same time is crucial, particularly for bosses. I usually look in between me and the boss. Also earning the ins-and-outs of the scoring system is very helpful since filling that score bar gets you extra lives. It's worth replaying levels so you can figure out the best ways to keep combos going. The secret bonuses in each stage are worth memorizing too since those are worth tons of points.
was it with type B or C?
I always choke on my own shit and perish shamefully at the last possible moment with C
frickin sucks since I way prefer it to B
how?
Also why play B instead of C with ZeroRanger. Harder? Personal Preference?
>why play B instead of C
stronger defensively and requires less precision, at the cost of not melting bosses as fast due to spread
it's a lot harder to frick up and die to popcorn enemies or waste time on bosses from dodging when type B has better coverage on everything
Type B's charge shot is good for survival as it can act as a shield and absorb a lethal hit. It saved me from bullshit that I didn't deserve to survive.
If you're talking about Cif, she has 28 HP and phase 2 starts after 16 hits. I've read that she heals some HP and takes half damage during phase transition, but you can skip phase 2 if you time your hits properly.
How much does it matter if you die and eat the fruit? I'm really new to this and idk if this is a game where I just go or something's I should be aware of first
You'll notice your HP is now listed as VOID. You can now die as many times as you want regardless of locust count. However, you'll get a different ending if you beat the game as Voided.
Don't feel bad about taking the fruit if you need it. It's very helpful when you're new to the game. Just be aware that it's a commitment and you'll want to try playing without it after you're used to things.
Wouldn't a non-void run be easy then? Like you just memorize the floors and shouldn't have an issue running out of loctus
Yup, that's the plan! Once you go through it voided without having to worry about dying and conserving locusts, you can experiment and learn the floors/mechanics/etc. Then when you go back to the beginning it'll all be much easier. Sure, you'll not memorize them all but you'll figure it out a lot faster.
There are bonus gemstones that only show up when non-void.
But yeah. It helps if you figure out the less obvious game mechanics that might let you take shortcuts.

Yes you'll start dogshit, but you'll get better the game is made specifically to get you decent at shumps. I never played a shump before it and finished it in like 25ish hours. Plus it's incredibly kino.
Alright I'm sold. I assume there's plenty of secrets like in VS. Should I play on keyboard, controller or arcade stick?

Lure the one at the top, then middle, then bottom. Slowly weave your way down while getting rid of them while allowing yourself a path to move downwards.
I can't remember the exact path I used. It may have been this one, pic related.
I just remember stealing the tile in front and making the mimic fall, and then going to the next one (making a diagnol pattern).
Ok. The first half was correct. That glass tile next to mouth 2 won't be there after it moves but I saw that an immediate swerve up instead after taking it out lured mouth 3 upward on the disappearing trap that mouth 2 crawled over. Thanks
I recall this at minute 20 of gameplay or something, in Gray's run floors 08-20 ish there's a room with two maggots close to the stairs and a wide area to the left, sometimes a centipede pokes out of the left wall and at the time you could only hit it or "talk" to it and are told that you should avoid it. Has anyone else encountered that and if so, what does that thing do?
Do you mean the horshoe crab fossil thing sticking out of the wall on the left side? I think its a rare encounter you can talk to. I saw it twice early on, but I didn't have the ability to talk to it at the time.
I heard its tied to the secret items you may come across in the game. They are hidden under tiles that you usually have to go out of your way to collect.
Anything other than grey plus the rainbow and you're going to need to mod. Fruits unlocking palettes was a rumour that never amounted to anything. https://github.com/Skirlez/voidstranger-palette-maker
How do you get items with Lillie? I've gone 70 floors voided now but the difficulty of the puzzles have become quite disheartening and I have no prospects of progressing the narrative in any meaningful way as it stands right now. Do I have to fill in the brand on a reset or something?
If you had the items as Grey and went straight to NG+, they'll all be missing for Lillie. Resetting at all will allow them to appear naturally, and you'll also be able to enter the brands to start with them if you so desire.
oh and i guess also end game stuff i saw people mentioning a shmup brand? Is that a thing lol
If you're the end-game cleanup anon above, you normally get it after the dev room if you take the spicy stairs instead of heading to NOWAY.

You go through the dev room, dive into eclipse, get spiced and immediately grab the staff
>decide from the start I'll only finish the game if I beat it without continues >play the levels, trying to get all gems, keep resetting run when run out of locusts. >play beginning enough I ace it and get characters which tell me where shortcuts are, decide to ignore them since they mean getting less locusts >get far then fall into pit next to statue, get teleported to weird area with clones of gray, die since no locusts >next run go farther on regular route, only to reach talking head which told me what I did last run, and basically forcing me to TP again without any locusts >just died again in that area, unsure if to continue or try again I know it's basically a self impose challenge to beat without continues on the first try, but the entire game so far meant later runs are easier to do since you get more locusts early on, and don't have to redo the gems. The game now basically blocks you from that, unless you do all those stages without dying once early on, which is just too hard. Is the only way to beat it without continues really just memorising solutions after you played it with?
[...] Frick it then, I'm reseting and trying again. I'll keep at it until my first completion is without continues
Honestly, you're just setting yourself up for misery by being overly stubborn. It is possible to make it to the end without eating the fruit as you are currently, but knowing what the lategame floors are like DOES help a bit. Still, it seems like you are missing some critical information beyond that and you may not even realise it yet, partly because you're so focused on getting to the end.
>setting yourself up for misery by being overly stubborn
I've played multiple games like this, its this stubborness that defines me. Because of this, I have a higher tolerance through playstyles which will likely bore or annoy other people. When I will finish this game, not just beat but find all the tiny secrets and stuff, I'll vividly remember it as "the game I played like a dumbass and had a blast with it".
Another game where I'm incredibly stubborn is noita, despite many hundreds of hours I still have so much shit to find, while avoiding its players like the plague so I don't see even viable wands, nevermind secrets, leading to many runs where I didn't find shit, and limited by my knowledge. >missing some critical information beyond that and you may not even realise it yet
Oh I fully realize that I'm missing a lot. I haven't touched the brands system or the colour palletes, and have seen many rooms which curently don't seem to make much sense unless I could interact with them differently. There's also bullshit like randomly hitting a tile and getting a secret gem, which I assume would've been easier to find with a hint. I assume I'll go past 7 health as well.
Still, keep playing like this since despite it all I'm having a blast

Well, if you're absolutely committed to doing shit un-voided, I suppose there's no harm in telling you what happens when you ARE voided. Read the spoiler in case you're interested. Getting to the bottom while voided nets you one of the cooler cutscenes in the game. You're then booted back to B001 while your void status is purged. For most players, this is the first big sign that you ought to start thinking about more things besides just reaching the next staircase. You might question what the point of voiding yourself is, then; but as I said, knowing how some of those later floors work and how the labyrinth is structured is going to help when you go for the non-void run, even if you also end up discovering some other things that might aid you.
The game kind of expects your first playthrough to use the continue, finishing a voided run rewards you with some important hints (especially if you found the cube) and one of the best setpieces in the game you can never access otherwise. I can't stop you from going continueless, but know that you're absolutely setting yourself up for misery in the beginning and ULTRA misery afterwards when you finally finish that run because you're going to be too stubborn to turn away from that one funhouse to lick your wounds.

Oh boy you're in for some fun, it took me a whole day of continuous tries before understanding what to do and eventually how to do it. It's a mix of multipliers, secrets and cats
My strat when I finally did it was (don't read if you want to uncover the secrets yourself) >reset autistically the very first few seconds if by the first secret I didn't have at least 300k, this run in particular gave me 360k by then >proceed like normal, reset if by the end of the first battleships and first Lev appearance (second and third secrets) I don't have at least 600k, can't remember how much I had this run >destroy everything on sight until Lev becomes a supernova bouncing around the screen, if after destroying that form (5th secret) I have less than 1m reset, this run was good since I had 1.2m by then >proceed second battleship phase unable to do anything, praying my score is at least 1.5m by the 6th secret otherwise reset (ended up this phase with 1.7m) >proceed killing the boss, trying to destroy the orbs when there are tons of bullets on screen for mad score
Some people seem to be able to rack over 1m points during the second battleship part, but despite trying my best and knowing how to do it, I have never been able to replicate that
>Have to avoid the orbs on top of enemy attacks
That's such a stupid mechanic with how wide they move

I saw in a new video that in the newer patches, the x128 was removed so the new cap is x64, and medals are higher value. I only got my 2m with getting a x128 on the battleship section...
Frankly I'd like for a patch to fricking fix IF mode to be actually playable.
I thought that you couldn't do anything to the flying things, so I kept trying to beat Cif normally, and failing at the second phase of the fight. Thankfully now I managed to get through.
An important thing to remember is that you moving onto stairs takes priority over enemy movement. By the way there's a israeliteel two tiles to the right of the rock
Whether you die or not will not affect this. I haven't gone through the brands, but she can only progress when she's cheering, so if she stops cheering after removing the stairs for the brands, i'd assume she will not follow you
I guess it's dumb asking this on a dedicated thread to the game, but is the gameplay fun? I'm not exactly excited to try out a sokoban puzzler. Does the game respect your time? Or am I expected to spend many hours to finish it? Are the puzzle elements outside of the sokoban gameplay worth it?
It's not so much autistic sokobahn turn ordering as it is understanding generally applicable mechanics, though there is some of that.
Although there is a lot of repetition and """backtracking""", is say the game has always respected my time 40 hours in There are also features that let you skip/cheat through sokoban puzzles by doing more of the out of the box cryptic puzzle solving
You will have to go through parts of the game multiple times and the gameplay can be pretty tedious sometimes.
You learn stuff that makes going through the game easier and opens new ways to navigate it. This is where a lot of the fun comes from: Learning those "Wait WHAT i could always do that?" moments.
This is a game for those who like to chew and pick at something so if you're looking to get a quick and enjoyable experience, this isn't it.
I just rescued Bee, what's the goal for my next playthrough, should I start like this? I thought perhaps something interesting might happen with the NPCs now and new dialogue with Tail
Interesting, what's the hint for that? I wouldn't have guessed but I suppose this screen has given me her brand, the bottom right one in my screenshot? I'll do Grey just because she'll be easier, thanks anon
If you want a slightly more explicative hint about the whereabouts of the location, but not too spoilery : do again the part around B198-224 with Gray or Lillie, and stay focused.
So I've finished Gray voided and unvoided, Lillie voided, and Cif..
I've found the brand in the B198-B224 part.
It's said there by an egg / a rock that I have to kill the remaining treatorous lords.
I'm trying to do this now. But from what I understand, I have to kill Eus / Tail, kill Gor's head, and kill Mon. I know how to do the first two and did it with Gray, but I can't trigger the centipede fight with her. Do I have to do this with Cif ? Or am I missing something ? If so, can I have a hint ? (not a full solution please). Also I have to try to go to "zero", I think I have an idea, tho I'm not sure it's different from eithererasing the B on the HUD orgoing to floor >255.
Any hint ?
Just to clarify. You mean I've said one of the right thing in the spoilers? I've went to both places, but haven't found anything... I was also thinking to try altering the floor number to "B000", but not even sure it's possible.
Just after typing I tried getting my number of locust to 0, I was afraid the icon and the value would disappear like when you start the game, but no. Thanks a lot Anon !
Make a bridge on the left side for the doppleganger, glass is fine.
You need to make a solid white path on the bottom and move the button over to the right. Doesn't have to be all the way over, a bit over half should do.
Then move the stairs near the middle, whever lets you line it up with the doppleganger.
did the devs advertise this game at all prior to release? i played finalboss(now zero ranger) way back when i was in high school and first getting into shmups. so i’ve been following their work for a long time, but only learned of this through word of mouth.
It's kind of a stretch/joke, but it's the most Zelda-like puzzle in the game, where you literally just have to push a block into the free space in a wall of similar blocks.
That's because by the point you get to that room, you got so used at thinking outside the box that the simplest solution is the one that make you think "there's no way it can be that"
And that's one of the reason why I love this game
What's so suspicious about this one? It's a little more interesting without wings, requiring you to remember one interaction I often forget about, but there isn't anything else here to my knowledge.
>You have to reach the end not voided
seriously? thats cringe, I have all my crickets to the zombies in hope that something would happen. And then I died.
Why doesn't the game tell you what you need to do?
>Why doesn't the game tell you what you need to do? >why doesn't puzzle game just tell me the solution
The game literally tells you at the end of your voided playthrough, if you're not braindead.
But it's extremely bad game design. Why do I need to do all the puzzles again? It's boring. I already know the solution

Some games are just designed like that where there are specific design decisions that may actively harm the moment to moment enjoyment to serve some specific experience.
This kind of experimental game design is less common nowadays and it can also really be hit or miss but that's part of the fun with engaging with this type of indie game.
Modern Game Design can feel way too clean and streamlined sometimes that i respect a game that intentionally risks something.
In the end this will alienate a lot of people and you can't really blame someone not putting up with a certain level of bullshit, but for others this makes the game more *real*

There's ways to take shortcuts and skip ahead. Multiple in fact. But you have to experiment and find them.
OKay so some Indian looking b***h Stole my staff from me and I got it back but I pushed her into the void because I had no other way around her. Is there a way to save her? I know she's a thief but I wanted to try rape correction
Let's say that I'm looping clockwise, and I have exactly 1 space between me and the last shade when doing the loop.
How many more would I need and where would I need to make them? I can get that far but then I frick up.
If you do it clockwise, you need to do some really fricking weird maneuvering.
You don't even need to form a long chain on the easier Gray version because in case you didn't notice, the Gray version has no zapper.

I know about the Gray version, I just thought it would be funnier to do the conga. NG+

She's at all but one tree room and has a continuing conversation across them. She starts calling Cif big horns pretty early in them. The onr tree she isn't at both her and Cif comment on missing each other at the next one.
Your progress in talking to her is tracked as well, so if you've spoken to her in a few she wont be there on other cif runs and will be at the next spot.

She's also in Mon's fun house if you go there as Gray.
ah, that's from a secret area that's somewhat easy to accidentally find when you're still figuring things out, but it doesn't have many hints if you're actively looking for how to get started finding it You need to NOT have the sword and go to Gor.
Then you need a way to get her to really pay attention to you (staff.
Then you get a quest and a tutorial of sorts. Don't overthink it
Wait does using the sword give negative karma? I saw light balls on my first run, but the moment I got the swords and started killing stuff I started to see the failed lords. Or is something else giving me negative karma?
I just did this one a little while ago, the trick is you need a larger number of shades than what would fit in the entire outer ring. How do you achieve this while still being able to reach the stairs?
EVEN AFTER THEY LEARNED HOW TO CREATE SENTIENT LIFE, ADD WAS NOT PLEASED WITH THEIR RESULTS. SO THEY CHANGED THEIR APPROACH. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY DID DIFFERENTLY. BUT EVEN ADD UNDERSTOOD SOMETHING WAS WRONG WHEN THEY CREATED MON. AND EVEN WHEN ADD WOULD LATER RESORT TO THIS METHOD MOST WOULD STILL SAY THAT MON REMAINED THE MOST REPUGNANT OF ALL THOSE WHO WERE CREATED
Which floor was the Cif tree on? I went for seconds and skipped exactly one tree due to a shortcut taking me farther than expected, I hope it isn't the one I didn't visit. Also for what it's worth, I didn't see the clueless big booba lady on the way either, normally you're supposed to encounter her a bunch of times, no?
>floors after where a voided run ends
jesus frick should’ve expected more puzzles, and the game really isn’t fricking around anymore. gonna take a break and hope my brain can figure out where to even begin with this stuff later. also feeling a lot of pressure to not void again
the frick is that thing in cif white room, the very last one, is that their creator? also had to exit the game because i seriously didnt know what to do and now im back at the last lotus tree
I don't know anything about Eus yet so I moved on, I got the locusts but I'm unsure what to do with it now, it said I should go to zero so I'm thinking of trying B000?
You've got the right idea. As for Eus, listen to the snake tiddy story for relevant lore and the egg beside the broken mural for a hint. Yes, you'll need to take screenshots.
I don't know why you guys are spoilering any of this shit. I have no idea what the frick a Eus mural is, nor do I have any conception of optional cutscenes.
I really didn't catch that, I'm going to assume The snake is Eus and I get to that one by solving the Tail puzzle, the skull is Gor(?) that the head mentioned you had to slay but I'm not sure where to begin for finding him Does anyone have the large screenshot solution for Tails mural?
Just started NG+, man what a ride. It's weird seing voidlords in person after learning so much about them. Bee is a cute. But who where the other two? Lev and Cif? Which is which?
So I've already died to the fricking evangelion cube and I'm wondering should I void myself or should I give up and enter brands to get all the items back? What is the implication of this. Anys downsides to being voided / non voided this time?
So I should refuse the fruit then. IS THERE ANY NEGATIVE OUTCOME? I've been told, if this was NG+ to NG++ instead of just NG toNG+ that it would indeed have some sort of impact. Also what am I in for, grays levels but much harder?
Also, should I change the color palate? Since I'm not playing gray anymore? The game wont change it by itself like it did in Zero Ranger, right?
The only negative outcome is that you won't be able to brag about finishing ng+ itemless.
You seen that evangelion cube on the first level? Game will throw endgame-tier puzzles at you from the very beginning. They are difficult even with items.
You can change the palette, it has no impact on gameplay.
I'd say die and grab the items, NG+ itemless is doable but exceptionally difficult. Your void status doesn't matter at this time, especially since it doesn't make the damn puzzles any easier.
Bros, it's my first time asking for help but it feels like it's the one last thing I need to do to progress now, I'm 40 hours into the game and I can't figure this out.
It's obvious that there's something here but don't ask how I know.
You can't physically connect all tiles, you'll have to extrapolate based off corners a bit (protip: watch the shaded part). Also don't edit out the status bars or you'll frick with the pattern and make it unmatchable.
Does anyone know how to get this girl's scene in the ending credits? She shoved me down the hole on this run since I had to skip the wings to trigger the thief, so that isn't the solution.
there's not a way to turn while staying on a tile right? My big issue is the special tiles prevent me from ever turning around so I basically have 1 chance to pick something up and I can only ever drop them on corners which doesn't seem to do a lot
Here's a helpful visual tool that might assist you, or at least let you vent a bit of frustration. Click both the left and right mouse buttons. Something will appear if you do it right.
And if you give up, I'll leave the opening moves here. Past this, the solution should be obvious: Up, grab, down, place, right, grab
You do not need the statue. Just remember that any tile you can walk on, you can also pick up, and go from there.

Step on the trap tile and grab the floor tile next to it. This gives you enough room to work freely from there.
[...]
You're close. The final room is a doozy.
There are 2 ways to turn while staying on the same tile, but neither can be done on that stage.
The length and girth of my metaphysical penis, which is a metaphor for my capabilities. Just personal challenge, honestly. They cheese levels far too much.
Question, do the Picross images always display rooms that come after them, like the murals? As in, I will come across Picross 1, then Room 1, then Picross 2, then Room 2, and so on?
>Spent 5 hours trying to beat the Cif boss after the DIS rooms >Managed to get phase 3 but no idea what to do there and I'm at my limit >Look up a video, find out the boss is optional and skippable
The final one with a bunch of random crap strewn about is probably the intended one, you need a room with glass and/or trap tiles and no statues or rocks stuck in corners, afaik the final 6x6 room is the only one that meets the criteria (the corner statue is standing on a primed trap).
yeah i hate pokemon ghost.
I made it here as Cif, am I supposed to do something special? The chest was empty, I'm afraid of messing up another Cif run
The thing you're looking for appears on the regular floors. You'll know when you see it and it's pretty obvious what you need to do there.
Thanks anon, I did notice the footsteps the first time I played through with her but didn't see the end of it. We're making progress now
but what does it MEAN
is this Johann's lightning?
Havent bought the game is it worth the full price or should i just wait for sale?
How much meta puzzles does the game have and how long is it?
>Havent bought the game is it worth the full price or should i just wait for sale?
I found it worth the 12 euroshekels, though your mileage may vary.
>How much meta puzzles does the game have and how long is it?
Many. If you want to actually see everything known so far, budget 40-60 hours in total.
thanks anons, I guess if the game doesnt go on a discount next sale I'll get it full price
>is it worth the full price
Personally? Yes. I'm currently at almost 50hrs and I still have thing I want to do/try
>meta puzzles
Depends on your definition I guess? There are a couple things where you definitely need to mess up with the UI, but for the rest you can simply ignore it most of the time
>fell for the spicy staircase on B121 in NG+
That's it, I'm using items as much as I can this time
You can cancel it by holding ESC
Thanks anon! Wow, that is nice. I will keep that in mind if I ever fall for it again. Its always the floors that look just a little too easy..
I'm never going to get 100% at this rate.
I keep forgetting to use spoilers, bleh.
Move the statue and then try getting in there yourself.
Thanks anon, good hint
Did I just frick up the entire Cif section because I didn't take the last hole and instead took the stairs? End me..
yes, I did the same
Don't worry, mon is gone for good.
The filter take me one more
Question regarding the white space area.
Lady's statue offers me to start again, but that resets the progress?
Does it differ in any way from using void egg in the dark space? Is it going to completely wipe my save data or something?
>Is it going to completely wipe my save data or something?
Yep
This is the hard reset.
Equivalent to finding your save files and deleting them.
You probably don't want it.
yep, she literally wipes your save
Well, gotta save it for the very end I guess. Wanted to see if there is perhaps a different dialogue if you get there as Cif. There was a neat little cutscene at the final tree though.
Post more Stranger 2!

anyone have the sound test brand? i'd grind out 0stranger but it already took me 60 hours just to clear the white vanilla boss
I need help with IF
Any survival tips?
I didn't know about this
I might just end up up drawing a full ZR doujin honestly it's kinda fun
Dumb Mido
I wonder if green orange would be a better color palette for this
I don't think it really looks that good honestly
theres no possible way to get the chests, right? The hand thing doesnt move
Hint: those statues aren't on white blocks
Light the fuse.
The hand indeed doesn't move, but you can move the trap square.
>you get another trial if you try to save edit your save
>also another trial if you quit the game to avoid losing locusts
based
There should be a trial for entering Mon's funhouse as Gray honestly that'd be funny
I did that after I forgot I had already entered. There is no bossfight, in fact it was a waste of time.
>trial if you try to save edit your save
Huh
I always assumed the save files were a red herring because of the way they look
Is there a video of the trial? Not on my PC right now
Just for you.
It sends you back to B001, too.
Specifically this is the one for editing your floor.
Maybe the others are different, but this was the only time I got this scene to show, there's some trick to the trigger I'm missing.
Also you can make really long webms of this game, I've never hit Ganker's 2-minute limit before.
>Fatty horns fatty horns fatty horns fatty horns fatty horns fatty horns
My god I love Bee
how many of my fricking locusts does this corpse guy need!?
The two tiles to the far left are your break, you probably want to grab one of those. Do you have the items or are you doing itemless like a total psycho?
So what do you think it is anon?
PRICK DICKS
Prima Donnas
Prima Donnas.
>shadows dying kills you

This was the worst room for me.
Hint: Reduce the space Lillie can move in.
Big hint: Push the statue next to the button left.
christ I keep dying from moving too much even with wings on the big hint part
I know im getting close
Oh, that one, you just gotta push the tan statue into the hand, then you maneuver the doppelganger around to put the lev statue on the button.
the lev statue is the one thats alive after you kill the enemies rights?
Yeah, the dragon looking homie.
man I keep ending up in the situation here
where i'm stuck because if I go down, I'll die due to pushing the statue
got it, started with the other statue
oh, you pushed the wrong tan statue I think, you can push the one on the left using Lillie while keeping the doppelganger out of trouble, and then you go back to the left and have the doppelganger put the other statue on the button
Damn, ZeroRanger is fricking sick.
How did I never hear of this game?
There's usually an anon or two who mentions it every time there's a shmup thread, but shmups in general don't get brought up often unless if they're Touhou.
I'm not a fan of sokoban, but I love schizo games with secrets. Should I play this game?
It's less Sokoban and more of a grid based puzzler where positioning and floor tile manipulation matter, but if you don't like grid based puzzlers in general then this isn't the game for you. The real schizo shit is hidden behind some proper puzzle gaming chops.
>voidless itemless NG+
I just got the Super Rod but I have no idea what to do with it or where to go next. Please give me hint on next objective
now you can do brands that you couldn't before 🙂
is this the new "challenge mode"?
I am currently trying a no void run with the daughter Lillie and the puzzles are starting to burn me out. Each one taking longer and longer to solve. I've heard the game has items to help. Can someone give me some quick info on them?
Each Mural refers to a secret
The secret is on a floor on that domain
Domain is a term meaning from mural to next mural I am guessing? Or is it tree defined?
Mural
It's the same either way, since each mural is directly after a tree room, every 28 floors.
Finally, I'm done. This fight was HARD.
What route?
I did it as Gray. I completed DIS as both Gray and Lillie, and then went back to Gray to win the fight properly and also not frick up the last section of the shmup.
Did you get all of the npc vignettes in the credits though
What's up with the weird trophy stuff?
I just started. Are these a thing? Just a statue? or is there something else I can do with them, they always spawn in corners/walls so I can never push them
If something in this game seems suspicious but you can't understand it, just keep playing and you'll figure it out later. This is especially true with these statues.
>NG+ Lillie with no items is sucking the fun of the puzzles I had playing as Gray.
It's what you probably should do actually. Have you figured out the murals for _Cif_ and _Eus_ yet?
No, is pic related Cifs? I know it's supposed to be hidden in one of the stages but I wasn't sure which yet and this seems like the only one that might fit, but its only 5 rows. I'm not sure which one would be Eus
That's not the one. Just keep notes and make extremely sure you don't miss anything.
My notes are pretty bad but I did record some of my runs so I can at least look through the stages, I originally thought it was this one but when I went to put it into a stage I realized they're usually 6x6 and this is 7 wide
Don't forget to take note of which floors you have visited
I have lost hope
You have plenty of space to move the buttons and the two tiles adjacent to the exit.
figured out
weird how the next 2 are so easy
I have no idea
moving the clonepad does nothing and I cant reach the demon statue with 1 box
I keep posting this and immediately figuring it out
Just got a 1CC in Zero Ranger! Almost choked at the final boss but I pulled through.
Any tips? I'm complete ass at bullet hells
Don't get hit by oncoming projectiles.
im about to be oncoming your mom
Expanding your field of vision so you can look at your ship and enemies at the same time is crucial, particularly for bosses. I usually look in between me and the boss. Also earning the ins-and-outs of the scoring system is very helpful since filling that score bar gets you extra lives. It's worth replaying levels so you can figure out the best ways to keep combos going. The secret bonuses in each stage are worth memorizing too since those are worth tons of points.
was it with type B or C?
I always choke on my own shit and perish shamefully at the last possible moment with C
frickin sucks since I way prefer it to B
>why play B instead of C
stronger defensively and requires less precision, at the cost of not melting bosses as fast due to spread
it's a lot harder to frick up and die to popcorn enemies or waste time on bosses from dodging when type B has better coverage on everything
>was it with type B or C?
B with I III V
I wanna try doing C next
God I still need to go back and finish my 1CC
how?
Also why play B instead of C with ZeroRanger. Harder? Personal Preference?
So any tips to beat cif legit?
Bro push that statue out so you can use your rod along the bulls
Type B's charge shot is good for survival as it can act as a shield and absorb a lethal hit. It saved me from bullshit that I didn't deserve to survive.
okay someone just tell me: how many hits is it for you know who
voldemort? sorry anon, but we're not talking about dog shit here.
no clue who you're talking about since i'm on lillith still
If you're talking about Cif, she has 28 HP and phase 2 starts after 16 hits. I've read that she heals some HP and takes half damage during phase transition, but you can skip phase 2 if you time your hits properly.
uhhhhh shouldnt the statues blow up after I get rid of the mouth things?
the shadow is also an enemy
god dammit
Its always kinda funny to see people do this. No realization that they can move the buttons
Wouldn't a non-void run be easy then? Like you just memorize the floors and shouldn't have an issue running out of loctus
Just play the game
Yup, that's the plan! Once you go through it voided without having to worry about dying and conserving locusts, you can experiment and learn the floors/mechanics/etc. Then when you go back to the beginning it'll all be much easier. Sure, you'll not memorize them all but you'll figure it out a lot faster.
Do you really think we'd have so many spoiler-filled threads if it was that easy?
There are bonus gemstones that only show up when non-void.
But yeah. It helps if you figure out the less obvious game mechanics that might let you take shortcuts.
Don't feel bad about taking the fruit if you need it. It's very helpful when you're new to the game. Just be aware that it's a commitment and you'll want to try playing without it after you're used to things.
Here's another trial (for scumming locust chests) for anyone interested.
I'm interested in ZeroRanger now, but I'm also absolute dogshit at shmups. Would anyone recommend it?
It's a great entry-point shmup that isn't crimzon clover, might be better if you're not fond of bullet hells
Alright I'm sold. I assume there's plenty of secrets like in VS. Should I play on keyboard, controller or arcade stick?
Whichever is comfortable for you its not super input heavy more patern recognition and adaption
There are some secrets but I wouldn't go play ZR expecting some la-mulana tier secrets.
Enjoy it for the hype
Stage 4 is such a fricking ride.
>mfw 4th gear
>mfw the 500 space buddhas
>mfw the sun glinting off of green orange during the final approach
>mfw unstopping
>mfw trying to keep max multiplier through the whole stage, including that fricking loop-around section
this game kicks way, way too much ass
i must have played through it 50 times and it still rules
maybe today's the day i get that type C all clear
Man using a sword when you broke through as the enemies spawn in is fricking sex
>when unstopping slows down into a somber piano song as you go through the horizontal looping section before picking up again as the eyes appear and the stage becomes a frantic rush of zipping across tunnels to reach the end in one piece
Yes you'll start dogshit, but you'll get better the game is made specifically to get you decent at shumps. I never played a shump before it and finished it in like 25ish hours. Plus it's incredibly kino.
Shmups have a reputation for not being newcomer-friendly, but ZeroRanger does try pretty hard to accomodate everyone.
I am finally stumped.
Lure the one at the top, then middle, then bottom. Slowly weave your way down while getting rid of them while allowing yourself a path to move downwards.
I've been going in that order and am just not seeing the path.
How long is this pleas send help ive been here so long typingas i do this
I think if the background changed you're good to fail.
You're supposed to stop. I spent like 10 minutes there.
like super endgame spoilers i got hit during the white part with the symbols. did i get bad end
No the actual ending is the same but there's a couple of extra little scenes if you don't fail that
cool thanks. Do i have anything left really?
Remember that brand at the end of the credits?
how do you unlock more palettes?
I heard its tied to the secret items you may come across in the game. They are hidden under tiles that you usually have to go out of your way to collect.
oh you mean fruit? credits told me that I found 3 but I don't have any new palette unlocked
You don't. You start with all of them.
Thanks anon! I avoided the obvious reset around the first few floors so I'll go do that real quick.
A quick warning on that note: spicy stairs won't be enough; they only reset locusts and VOID, not items. You need to return to the brand screen.
Damn, I'll see what I can do then.
It's as simple as dying and refusing the fruit.
If you're the end-game cleanup anon above, you normally get it after the dev room if you take the spicy stairs instead of heading to NOWAY.
I took the spicy stairs and didn't get the brand. Is there something specific you have to do after going through them? How soon after are you meant to get it?
You go through the dev room, dive into eclipse, get spiced and immediately grab the staff
end game cleanup help
beat lev as gray, went through the dev room, did the no way room. Anything else Worth Doing?
Should i get the rest of the crystals?
oh and i guess also end game stuff i saw people mentioning a shmup brand? Is that a thing lol
How hard is it to get all the gems?
>decide from the start I'll only finish the game if I beat it without continues
>play the levels, trying to get all gems, keep resetting run when run out of locusts.
>play beginning enough I ace it and get characters which tell me where shortcuts are, decide to ignore them since they mean getting less locusts
>get far then fall into pit next to statue, get teleported to weird area with clones of gray, die since no locusts
>next run go farther on regular route, only to reach talking head which told me what I did last run, and basically forcing me to TP again without any locusts
>just died again in that area, unsure if to continue or try again
I know it's basically a self impose challenge to beat without continues on the first try, but the entire game so far meant later runs are easier to do since you get more locusts early on, and don't have to redo the gems. The game now basically blocks you from that, unless you do all those stages without dying once early on, which is just too hard. Is the only way to beat it without continues really just memorising solutions after you played it with?
>Is the only way to beat it without continues really just memorising solutions after you played it with?
No.
There's a lot to find that makes the experience very different. The head might set you on the right path, if you show it your rod.
Frick it then, I'm reseting and trying again. I'll keep at it until my first completion is without continues
whoops, mistagged, meant
It's finally all over lads. What an experience

Are the two women in Lillie's DIS credits Gray and the Queen? Who shows up during Gray's DIS credits?
Meant these two
How the frick are you suppose to score that high
Multipliers, for the most part.
Some ridiculous scores are possible once you know what you're doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO_qV9hqh_E
>Have to avoid the orbs on top of enemy attacks
That's such a stupid mechanic with how wide they move
Oh boy you're in for some fun, it took me a whole day of continuous tries before understanding what to do and eventually how to do it. It's a mix of multipliers, secrets and cats
My strat when I finally did it was (don't read if you want to uncover the secrets yourself)
>reset autistically the very first few seconds if by the first secret I didn't have at least 300k, this run in particular gave me 360k by then
>proceed like normal, reset if by the end of the first battleships and first Lev appearance (second and third secrets) I don't have at least 600k, can't remember how much I had this run
>destroy everything on sight until Lev becomes a supernova bouncing around the screen, if after destroying that form (5th secret) I have less than 1m reset, this run was good since I had 1.2m by then
>proceed second battleship phase unable to do anything, praying my score is at least 1.5m by the 6th secret otherwise reset (ended up this phase with 1.7m)
>proceed killing the boss, trying to destroy the orbs when there are tons of bullets on screen for mad score
Some people seem to be able to rack over 1m points during the second battleship part, but despite trying my best and knowing how to do it, I have never been able to replicate that
I saw in a new video that in the newer patches, the x128 was removed so the new cap is x64, and medals are higher value. I only got my 2m with getting a x128 on the battleship section...
Frankly I'd like for a patch to fricking fix IF mode to be actually playable.
>the x128 was removed so the new cap is x64
That explains a lot
I've been stuck on Cif fight for 4 hours at this point...
skull issue
You don't know how to cheat or want to beat it "legit" out of stubbornness?
I thought that you couldn't do anything to the flying things, so I kept trying to beat Cif normally, and failing at the second phase of the fight. Thankfully now I managed to get through.
Does setting your PC to the date in the one memory photo do anything special? I tried it as D/M/Y but didn't notice anything.
I'm pretty sure it's just your PC date + 100k years
how
Turn order.
An important thing to remember is that you moving onto stairs takes priority over enemy movement. By the way there's a israeliteel two tiles to the right of the rock
Does the game reset in shmup section happen only on the last phase of Lev fight?
Enemies won't kill this girl, right?
These ones won't.
Also, if I die in a room, will she still be there?
Whether you die or not will not affect this.
I haven't gone through the brands, but she can only progress when she's cheering, so if she stops cheering after removing the stairs for the brands, i'd assume she will not follow you
Or rather, a more specific question: if I do a brand room will she follow me there or not?
I guess it's dumb asking this on a dedicated thread to the game, but is the gameplay fun? I'm not exactly excited to try out a sokoban puzzler. Does the game respect your time? Or am I expected to spend many hours to finish it? Are the puzzle elements outside of the sokoban gameplay worth it?
It's not so much autistic sokobahn turn ordering as it is understanding generally applicable mechanics, though there is some of that.
Although there is a lot of repetition and """backtracking""", is say the game has always respected my time 40 hours in
There are also features that let you skip/cheat through sokoban puzzles by doing more of the out of the box cryptic puzzle solving
I dunno about infinite locusts, but the next thing to do is to find and input cif's brand in her area as gray or lillie
Interesting, what's the hint for that? I wouldn't have guessed but I suppose this screen has given me her brand, the bottom right one in my screenshot? I'll do Grey just because she'll be easier, thanks anon
The hint was extremely obscure, literally blink and you miss it, other than noticing "hey, was there ever a 6x6 room in this section?"
If you want a slightly more explicative hint about the whereabouts of the location, but not too spoilery : do again the part around B198-224 with Gray or Lillie, and stay focused.
Is this the part you meant to do with Grey or should I continue on the normal route?
No, that's the part you should do with Cif. You do NOT want to do it twice.
This looks like a floor I could fit a Mural in
If it's not 6x6 and enclosed by a wall or other solid tiles, it's not a brand room.
Then I've fricked up completely, I didn't notice anything new in those floors other than a gem I missed before
Yeah, you missed it. Make sure you're counting the floor numbers next time.
Alright thanks anons, I've had a genius idea for me, I replaced my HP with the floor so I can check the second half again
should have watched your floor counter.
Does it? You can make shit as wide as you want in here
Why does holding the staff make gray feel uneasy and what was the something wrong?
Pretty much the fact that the movements in the game are definitively altered once she gets the staff. Not sure there is anymore to it.
But when you upgrade the staff everything feels right again
At what point of the game are you? It's something you'll understand only at the very end
Also I have to try to go to "zero", I think I have an idea, tho I'm not sure it's different from either erasing the B on the HUD orgoing to floor >255.
Any hint ?
Don't worry about Mon, and you're on the right track regarding zero.
Just to clarify. You mean I've said one of the right thing in the spoilers? I've went to both places, but haven't found anything... I was also thinking to try altering the floor number to "B000", but not even sure it's possible.
Why wouldn't it be possible? You can get one of the other numbers to 00 safely and then swap the last two numbers in B0xx
Just after typing I tried getting my number of locust to 0, I was afraid the icon and the value would disappear like when you start the game, but no. Thanks a lot Anon !
the steam guide has the worst written instructions i've ever seen
What even is this game?
A puzzle game that is more about discovering secrets and breaking "out of the box" than it is about the actual puzzles
>Have to clear a harder shmup section to unlock the sound test
I fricking hate it
Yeah frick that
Enter ze brand
Is there a faster/easier way to get down to Gor after killing Tail? I hate entering brands in that fricking glass room.
hint please
Button on the right gap, stairs on the left gap
I'm supposed to somehow move the stairs?
If you don't want the button to be on the bottom right corner, yes.
Button on the left gap works too.
Make a bridge on the left side for the doppleganger, glass is fine.
You need to make a solid white path on the bottom and move the button over to the right. Doesn't have to be all the way over, a bit over half should do.
Then move the stairs near the middle, whever lets you line it up with the doppleganger.
did the devs advertise this game at all prior to release? i played finalboss(now zero ranger) way back when i was in high school and first getting into shmups. so i’ve been following their work for a long time, but only learned of this through word of mouth.
not really
They didn't even bother with an "our next game is out" announcement in the ZeroRanger Steam news feed.
any other zelda references?
The puzzle in Cif's brand room.
sorry, couldn't recognize it.
can you remind me more about this one?
It's kind of a stretch/joke, but it's the most Zelda-like puzzle in the game, where you literally just have to push a block into the free space in a wall of similar blocks.
Not the same Anon, but funnily enough, this is so different than other puzzles that I almost missed it when I was there.
That's because by the point you get to that room, you got so used at thinking outside the box that the simplest solution is the one that make you think "there's no way it can be that"
And that's one of the reason why I love this game
Glasses on the table look like spurdo here
to add to the other replies
one puzzle, I believe on the DIS route, was clearly inspired from one at the end of the 2nd dungeon of Link's awakening
this seems supsicious
is there anything here?
What's so suspicious about this one? It's a little more interesting without wings, requiring you to remember one interaction I often forget about, but there isn't anything else here to my knowledge.
Anybody got links to the music from Cif fight and 0st Ranger stage?
Clicked through all 75 tracks uploaded by the chinese guy and they aren't in there
>the link with the uploaded OST by an anon also expired
I can throw you this, it's 44 and 50.
Somehow I need to play everything all over again?
did I have a bad ending or what?
Like one time I didn't rest at the tree.
please respond, it seems nothing really changed?
You have to reach the end not voided
>You have to reach the end not voided
seriously?
thats cringe, I have all my crickets to the zombies in hope that something would happen. And then I died.
Why doesn't the game tell you what you need to do?
>Why doesn't the game tell you what you need to do?
You're the reason modern gaming sucks
Because it's not the kind of game that holds your hand like a toddler. Why the FRICK would you feed all your locusts to those zombies?
The game literally tells you at the end of your voided playthrough, if you're not braindead.
>Why doesn't the game tell you what you need to do?
>why doesn't puzzle game just tell me the solution
You learned a valuable lesson.
Now do it again.
But it's extremely bad game design. Why do I need to do all the puzzles again? It's boring. I already know the solution
Anon, you can literally skip 170 floors in one go. Stop being a little b***h.
>But it's extremely bad game design
According to who
>I already know the solution
Then beating the game shouldn't be a problem
>According to who
according to me who is bored with the game.
not doing all that shit again.
then dont
Cry about it.
Yeah, I had to take some breaks with this game when it pulled some sneaky shit and I wasn't paying attention. After a while it ceased bothering me because the overall package was so good, plus I was more proficient by that point. It's my favorite game this year despite the time of mine that it "wasted".
unironically filtered
I don't think anybody who willingly gives up their continues then complains about dying has any right to talk about game design.
>I don't think anybody who willingly gives up their continues
well, I didn't know there was a consequence to "voiding" before coming and asking in this thread.
>suspicious thing offers you a fruit
>you cheated death
>you have a big fat VOID over your HP
>the tree at the end explicitly tells you that you fricked up
There's no cure for moronation
>I already know the solution
If you expect it to take more than five minutes, you don't.
The game isn't about the puzzles, it's about the secrets under the puzzles.
If you're a moron just go play something else.
There's ways to take shortcuts and skip ahead. Multiple in fact. But you have to experiment and find them.
OKay so some Indian looking b***h
Stole my staff from me and I got it back but I pushed her into the void because I had no other way around her. Is there a way to save her? I know she's a thief but I wanted to try rape correction
Yeah
You talk to her until she gives your staff back then magic carpet around her on the top row
I couldn't find a way to place them on the top row, there wasn't space to be able to place a second one, that or I fricked up by breaking glass
Was it the lore check or killing things in order?
Advice?
loop the loop, it's not that hard, you just need to properly calculate how many shades you need
Let's say that I'm looping clockwise, and I have exactly 1 space between me and the last shade when doing the loop.
How many more would I need and where would I need to make them? I can get that far but then I frick up.
>clockwise
You're doing it wrong. Go counterclockwise.
I actually did this one clockwise, while the NG one counterclockwise
I think you can do both just fine if you make a smart use of the clone tiles
If you do it clockwise, you need to do some really fricking weird maneuvering.
You don't even need to form a long chain on the easier Gray version because in case you didn't notice, the Gray version has no zapper.
I know about the Gray version, I just thought it would be funnier to do the conga. NG+
though I couldn't figure out a way to do it counter, and found that clockwise was easier for me
grab exactly 24, without touching the edges, exit out of the bottom right tile moving right out of it, then go clockwise to the stairs
Did Johann fug gray? Is that what he meant by her “enthusiasm”? I missed one of the trees so maybe that part got explained there
General opinion seems to be "yes" but it's not explicitly stated
That kind of thing was common in the middle ages
Where the hell does this one play, I don't remember
It got the Mon's domain motif but also Despair
I'm most likely wrong, but doesn't that play during Lillie's ending?
ok I give up, tell me what to do with the upgraded wand. I've put other murals on different floors but it just acts as a warp? Do I need to do something with the 99 locusts from cif's room?
The rock in Cif's room tells you what to do.
There's one mural that has a brand on it that you haven't constructed. You might have overlooked it as not being a brand due to the content(?) but it is certainly a brand.
There are 9 murals in the game, make a checklist
post your favorite song in the game
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_8erlYwmaul70z7aH32mbmS8UcxkjBuP
wait where is this from
no you can't lose them unless you cheeky stair'd
You hear that for gettng F rank on Cif's challenge
>wait where is this from
I'm going to say it's related to Mon, since her ost actually uses the metal pipe every now and then
No, it's the F-rank sbahj joke from cif's challenge
Lmao, too bad I'm never going to do that since that requires beating 0st if and no way I'll ever be able to do that
vids?
files.catbox.moe/y2b97g.mp4
I WARNED YOU BRO
kek I thought that pic was fanart
That's fricking beautiful
anyone have the other ranking ending screens? lmao
Big horns.
who does she say that to
yes, no, you'll just have to keep on trucking to get more and more info, you certainly won't know what's really happening otherwise. Stay clear if you're a brainlet.
the chubby girl in her tree rooms. You gotta visit every one so she ends up at 254 i think. That's when she says that.
I did talk to her but I didn't remember cif reacting so strongly, she also appeared way sooner for me, pretty sure it was before floor 100
?si=cYGjOPLnZttnjQIa
and
?si=jMpF1iauGmGUbkM-
Yeah, baby!
I'm honestly surprised at Facade from Legend of Zelda's guest appearance lmao
It's fricked up how I saw the god damn credits 6 times and there's still shit I have no idea about, what?
If you want a hint, it's at the end of the stinky hole.
I was making a joke, anon. The boss is clearly a legally distinct reference to pic related from Zelda, though.
ah, that's from a secret area that's somewhat easy to accidentally find when you're still figuring things out, but it doesn't have many hints if you're actively looking for how to get started finding it
You need to NOT have the sword and go to Gor.
Then you need a way to get her to really pay attention to you (staff.
Then you get a quest and a tutorial of sorts. Don't overthink it
If I use one of my item blocks to beat a level, I won't lose it afterwards right?
UI resets every room, you're fine
?t=516
Hold on, what the frick is this ending?
>He didn't hit the button over the heart during the white segment
Time to go back and beat the game for real
(End areq) help plz?
Golem takes the top path and ends up at the entrance to your room. Push the dragon to connect the last statue to the chain
Thank you
How am I supposed to kill the first leech before it gets lightninged?
Just stab it and then stop the collision topside
Use your wings
Holy frick im moronic and DIS is making it worse
thanks again
Wait does using the sword give negative karma? I saw light balls on my first run, but the moment I got the swords and started killing stuff I started to see the failed lords. Or is something else giving me negative karma?
aieeee dont insult me lillith
I can't get them to change sides
That level is a trap for people overthinking it. You need to kill the golem in a pit and use a rock for the button.
how in the frick?
When you have shades following you, it's usually helpful to have a square or rectangle-shaped area to maneuver in.
You got the wings so you can jump a tile to only have two clones, from there just do the konga for 10 minutes
I'm so close. I need a hint. I also feel like I shouldn't have started with all 3 items. NG+ is kind of easy near the end with items
What direction are you facing after opening a chest?
opening a chest makes you face downwards
She turns around when using chest
pro tip: opening a chest forces you to look downwards.
put the clone tiles between the stairs and buttons in the gaps. You have wings so you dont even have to do it the intended way
huh I didnt know that
What walking pattern am I supposed to do? The original was easy
It's congo line time.
I keep conga lining into myself or I forget the pattern I was going
I was so fricking close
Don't touch the borders until you are ready to go
I just did this one a little while ago, the trick is you need a larger number of shades than what would fit in the entire outer ring. How do you achieve this while still being able to reach the stairs?
it's all so tiresome
stay on the inside until its time to go on the outside
There's a reason the last part of my post was what it was.
someone has to have a walk through of this area because I keep messing up.
that was hell
You need to assemble your Congo line to almost the max and then take this route for last.
I'm on floor 150 with no items right now and it's a fricking hell, I have no clue why I'm putting myself through this.
Does anyone have a gif of the dev's wink?
How's this?
Missing the star but pretty good, thanks anon
I see the effect sprites but don't remember exactly how it looked, so if you have a video of it I could add those in.
Did anyone find Mon's failed lord creature? What does it say?
>EVEN ADD UNDERSTOOD SOMETHING WAS WRONG
yeah, no breasts
Which floor was the Cif tree on? I went for seconds and skipped exactly one tree due to a shortcut taking me farther than expected, I hope it isn't the one I didn't visit. Also for what it's worth, I didn't see the clueless big booba lady on the way either, normally you're supposed to encounter her a bunch of times, no?
It's the very last one, 254 iirc
Oh right, I forgot there was one more tree after the alphabet rooms and wouldn't you know it, there it is. I feel moronic now.
>floors after where a voided run ends
jesus frick should’ve expected more puzzles, and the game really isn’t fricking around anymore. gonna take a break and hope my brain can figure out where to even begin with this stuff later. also feeling a lot of pressure to not void again
You mean on NG+? I thought those were pretty free
second playthrough, when the game restarts after the “bad” end. i got all the way back and past b224
If you're playing as Gray the floors past 227 are completely free, go get your ending
the frick is that thing in cif white room, the very last one, is that their creator? also had to exit the game because i seriously didnt know what to do and now im back at the last lotus tree
Is there nothing to do here other than talk to the rock? Or do I have to come back after doing what the rock says?
There's a Zelda puzzle.
You can put the statue in the hole, but the meat of the room is what the rock says, yeah
I'm curious, how do I do that? nothing other than the statue seems to be pushable
He means the gap, not the literal hole you moron
This is a fricking zelda puzzle.
ohhh
what would happen if I use these to go to b299? I want to end this run with a proper ending but this is getting me curious.
There is nothing of value past floor 255.
fill the hole, hole-filler
Anybody knows if there's a gameboy screen shader that works with reshade? Would be a perfect fit for this game but the libretro pack only got CRTs.
I bought this but still haven't played it due to AC6 and Lies of PP, can a brainlet like me even finish this game?
It's surprisingly easygoing for the most part, it doesn't break out the whip until you're well accustomed to how the game works.
Ok cool, the way people phrased these threads it seems like there's a lot of hidden shit I'd never find but I guess we'll see.
you'll at least be able to see the credits, the secret hunting is when shit gets convoluted.
Is the way to progress after Cif's playthrough to set my "level" to 223?
Yep, go see what's in store. You should also take a crack at solving the Eus mural while you're at it.
Oh I saw another anon solving that one, is that required for me to progress now? Otherwise I'll go to 000 first
just before the shmup you can walk around, is there anything that you can do here?
If you're worried about missing the final optional cutscene, it's a good place to make a save backup.
so what the frick is this
A game. Funny, isn't it?
Does anyone have a picture of the Eus mural, I don't really want to solve that particular puzzle myself
I don't know why you guys are spoilering any of this shit. I have no idea what the frick a Eus mural is, nor do I have any conception of optional cutscenes.
are the optional cutscenes what happen when you sleep at hte tree and re-open the game?
So are there any tricks to beat cif "legit"? how many hits do I need and all that
yes, those would be optional
a lot
that's not a number, bro
Sure it is
He has three phases
Phase two deploys harder attacks and respawns all the tiles
Phase 3 is endurance
If you die does the hp counter reset? I never got to the final phase.
then the spoiler tags are fulfilling their intended purpose
What am I supposed to do on B000?
have you played super metroid?
the glowing eyes homie
I really didn't catch that, I'm going to assume The snake is Eus and I get to that one by solving the Tail puzzle, the skull is Gor(?) that the head mentioned you had to slay but I'm not sure where to begin for finding him Does anyone have the large screenshot solution for Tails mural?
you can't miss gor if you play the game normally.
The head IS Gor
Thank you anons!
Getting really sick of these doppelganger puzzles, thankfully this is the last one in this set and is a lot easier than the prior ones.
>skipped form floor 70 to floor 100ish as cliff
Did I miss anything important?
>closed the game after this part and got lillith ending
Can you actually solve this puzzle? Currently on a cliff run
Of course you can solve it, moron.
would it have led to the same ending regardless?
Just started NG+, man what a ride. It's weird seing voidlords in person after learning so much about them. Bee is a cute. But who where the other two? Lev and Cif? Which is which?
So I've already died to the fricking evangelion cube and I'm wondering should I void myself or should I give up and enter brands to get all the items back? What is the implication of this. Anys downsides to being voided / non voided this time?
starting with all items is advisable unless you want CBT
>Shitty indie game gains totally undeserved attention and amplification simply for being "hardcoar" "difficult" cryptic or whatever
Many such cases, sad.
The game has a pretty neat story and the gameplay is surprisingly fun once it clicks.
Don't let people ruin our threads with their nonsense. Just ignore him.
>gains totally undeserved attention
Literally nobody heard of it outside of 100 guys on Ganker
Bros, it's my first time asking for help but it feels like it's the one last thing I need to do to progress now, I'm 40 hours into the game and I can't figure this out.
It's obvious that there's something here but don't ask how I know.
They have to line up on a 6x6 grid, some of them connected through corners, the screens represent empty tiles
You can't physically connect all tiles, you'll have to extrapolate based off corners a bit (protip: watch the shaded part). Also don't edit out the status bars or you'll frick with the pattern and make it unmatchable.
This game good? Cant read the thread since most of it is spoilered. Does it have Black Souls tier lore?
You like Sokoban? Then yeah.
>Does it have Black Souls tier lore?
Hmm. Kinda? Yeah, I think it's comparable. Maybe a bit more compact than BS.
how do I get past this statue?
Just don't get seen.
there must be a leech covering you BEFORE you move below, and there must be a leech covering you AFTER you move below the statue.
Got it. This one is a pain in comparison
There's a LOT more pain in this hole
>tfw had to go through this twice with like 25 hours in between so I couldn't remember shit
Remember Cif, this is a sneaking mission
Does anyone know how to get this girl's scene in the ending credits? She shoved me down the hole on this run since I had to skip the wings to trigger the thief, so that isn't the solution.
apparently if she shoves you down the hole she'll show up for lillie.
>the song when you start playing as cif has an It Might Be Greenish leitmotif
I'm not the first one to point this out, am I?
Ninnie I would like you a lot more if you could be integral to the puzzles rather than an obstacle!
What the hell even is this game? Is it worth playing? I like weird shit
It's a puzzle game that takes a long time to figure out
Sokoban but you can take a tile with you and place it somewhere else, has a ton of secrets and riddles.
Basically La-Mulana if it played like Sokoban.
does anyone have a list of npc and who they appear for and what floor? want to go through the game again but want to skip floor where I can
I am moronic. How the frick can I do this room?
do not forget you can pick up the cloning tiles
I've tried that and tried to go down to the statue but then I end up walking over a clone tile and frick myself. I'll keep trying at it
You do not need the statue. Just remember that any tile you can walk on, you can also pick up, and go from there.
there's not a way to turn while staying on a tile right? My big issue is the special tiles prevent me from ever turning around so I basically have 1 chance to pick something up and I can only ever drop them on corners which doesn't seem to do a lot
There are 2 ways to turn while staying on the same tile, but neither can be done on that stage.
Opening a chest and..?
pushing something
Here's a helpful visual tool that might assist you, or at least let you vent a bit of frustration. Click both the left and right mouse buttons. Something will appear if you do it right.
And if you give up, I'll leave the opening moves here. Past this, the solution should be obvious:
Up, grab, down, place, right, grab
Building outwards helps
Got it. Thanks anon!
Step on the trap tile and grab the floor tile next to it. This gives you enough room to work freely from there.
You're close. The final room is a doozy.
>You're close. The final room is a doozy.
192 right? Hoo boy.
How much longer do I have to babysit this weighted companion cube!?
you could always just ignore her, you know
NEVER!
what incentive is there to turn off the last two items?
The length and girth of my metaphysical penis, which is a metaphor for my capabilities. Just personal challenge, honestly. They cheese levels far too much.
I'M SO FRICKING CLOSE AAAAAH
your shadow isn't targeted by the caramel laser beams
that only makes it harder
How am I supposed to get the shadow and keep the worm down?
you don't need the worm if you have a shadow to block the beam's los
yeah I'm still stuck. I'm going need the solution
I cant get the shadow down there without dying
all you need to do is get to the same point as your screenshot but this time with a shadow.
Post the initial room state.
I got it ty for the help
uh
should I have killed Tail as Cif? I know I'm supposed to for B000 but should I have done it as Cif? Does it matter?
doesn't matter
Question, do the Picross images always display rooms that come after them, like the murals? As in, I will come across Picross 1, then Room 1, then Picross 2, then Room 2, and so on?
pretty sure that's not the case
Fricking hell. Do I NEED to do them to not miss some super cool shit?
they give exactly what they say they do
You don't need them, but the alternative is digging up almost every tile in the game.
>Spent 5 hours trying to beat the Cif boss after the DIS rooms
>Managed to get phase 3 but no idea what to do there and I'm at my limit
>Look up a video, find out the boss is optional and skippable
Which brand room do I completely clear out of blocks? Is it the mimic brand room?
The final one with a bunch of random crap strewn about is probably the intended one, you need a room with glass and/or trap tiles and no statues or rocks stuck in corners, afaik the final 6x6 room is the only one that meets the criteria (the corner statue is standing on a primed trap).
I just made it to DISnuts
Is there a difference whether I go there with one character or another?
Ending cutscene changes, but the puzzles are the same
