being a smoothbrain is suffering
are you playing itemless?
Time to use items
Same
Ng+ B119
I don't get it
Help, ;_;
oh hey that's exactly where I am. I assume you have to kill the eye then move the A statue onto the button using the mimic and then make the mimic an hero to clear the other statues, but it's tough working out how
Holy shit, thanks!
Having drunk 5 beers might not have been the best idea, lmao
Wait, i'm really drunk
Don't drink and puzzle guys
secure the mimic
push statue out
go in
kill hand
go back
have mimic push one of the statues into the button
I'm making some progress but it's really slow...
FRICK bulls, FRICK mimics, I wish there was a genocide run
Help, I am getting sokobanned from finishing the game. This level feels like a fricking dis track.
There's not enough moves, my routing is shit and I do not understand how to juggle the tiles correctly.
Anon... That's the easiest DIS level...
Previous 20 floors were much easier. Or maybe my brain is really shit at planning ahead.
You can't complete the puzzle before the snake dies. Set it up so all the remaining moves are shielded by the statues instead.
here, the non-shard solution
You're overthinking it.
For a bigger hint, you don't need to use the rod on that level at all outside of the shard.
WHAT THE FRICK
Thank you anon.
Frick.
So I did a non void NG and both NG+ and NG++ , I'm unsure if I should go back to do a void NG at all or if I'm missing something substantial before I hunt for the real secritive stuff
Can I solve 255 or is this a suicide only level?
Hold up the level didn't crash
There's nothing to solve there, you have reached the "end" of a normal run. Restart the game a few times, have a nice day or yoink B2 and wander.
Yeah, can I do something in the void or is just restart from scratch and do something different?
Cross screen boundaries and follow the sound.
D-Do I catch it? It goes away every time
Why have you fricked this guy so hard?
Ignore that moron, dig a hole on 255 and fall in it.
I mean, he's the one who decided to pull B2 instead of falling in a pit.
If you don't want to do that, you can always close the game and it'll take you back to B255, FYI. The other guy is right, you probably should save this for later.
jump into a hole
I'm missing about 24 crystals, and I've uncovered a crystal before that was hidden under an umarked tile. Are there more hidden crystals in levels? Any instances of getting more than one crystal on a floor?
Do your Picrosses, anon.
Thank you anon. Oh.. I forgot about those. I guess I better get to it then.
I solved one of the Picross puzzles, but this one seems impossible? Am I a brainlet missing something here? I heard the game got updated and I'm playing on ver.1.0, so may be the puzzle is wrong?
Version 1.0.2
https://mega.nz/file/ByZyhIYQ#ygquy9J1enMZBcYEAwlc13nZYvFda1YACI9KhobGCDE
Go update your shit.
That explains it, thanks! I ignored the update, but now its affecting me. Guessing the floor will be obvious anyay, so I may just move forward until I see a floor similar to it.
I think skips are good, either way you will be fine. You may skip over levels that had collectibles you missed or other shortcuts. You can always loop back or skip around to other levels if you need to though. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th loop/restart by now.
NO WAY!
NO WAY NO WAY I THINK YOU NEED A NEW ONE
The hint made it seem like I should set the layout to match a previous floor?
Did I miss something or must I not trigger any statues?
assuming you left the previous floor alone, that should be good
you just don't get any sort of confirmation you did it right, you gotta have faith
Thx. Guess it went well.
This all could have been avoided if Gray just ran away with the princess and /ll/'d her.
any tips for 0st ranger mode? i don't understand the scoring, or how to find the secrets, or anything really.
yeah, ignore it and play zero ranger instead 0st ranger sucks
Please answer yes and no.
the locust tip with
>straight road and fall before your reflection
Is the shortcut
A: in either of the stages that are completely black with pentagram tiles and statues watching (I think its the first and the last stage of that domain)
B: on the stage with the tree
C: something with your own brand (which I think I saw somewhere but forgot where exactly)
Level with a linear hallway, a staircase one tile behind you and a doppelganger at the end of the hall. There is nothing to do besides go down the stairs or lift up the stairs and fall in the pit
YES AND NO
i considered that at one point but thought ill check that out later and forgot about it.
i also dropped in the hole at the other site before on that stage. damn.
wasnt that stage also in a different domain? my super screenshot map pool is not complete
ty anon.
no
no
no
To beat the second playthrough do i have to use **infinite**? I wanna be able to skip levels, and idk if i can without a number to swap
Infinity is removable via the usual method that would reduce locusts to zero.
Just keep following the sound. The creatures aren't what you're looking for.
anon what the frick are you doing go complete your unvoided playthrough you can visit the egg anytime
I just bump on it and it makes noises. I actually came here by mistake, I was doing a 'normal playthrough' with Infinite and the head didn't let me pass so I ended up on 300~ish levels that showed me an alphabet, then I got stuck on 255. Guess I should head back. I really like this game but replaying the same puzzles because you did some mistakes is a bit of a chore
Just close and reopen the game and do what that other anon told you to do. Pull 55 and fall in the hole.
For reference though, if you end up in that egg room again, the sound the egg makes should be familiar to you.
I can see why people were telling me to euthanize on 255.
Thanks anons
Oh no its fricking hard mode? I was already bad enough on the regular puzzles T-Thanks
To make it easier: have a nice day, refuse the fruit and input the brands
No, that's normal mode. You were on easy mode the whole time. Har har har.
>game but replaying the same puzzles because you did some mistakes is a bit of a chore
in return the game rewards you with stuff that can help you get through the floors faster
I found a cube anons.
I dont know if i was supposed to yet, i was fricking around
Did i do shit out of order? (2nd playthrough)
You're fine.
I got it purely by fricking around. Was i supposed to be following a hint or clue or something?
did you notice anything unusual about the room you got there from? did it look like something else?
yes
notice the mural on the first floor and then the floor that you fell through that led you to the cube
Did you use a guide? If the answer is no, it's intentional. The things that are truly difficult to figure out are impossible to do by accident.
not him but are there even any guides at this point?
You're doing fine, now try to get the other 2
So is the means of getting unvoided the spicy staircase ?
do you get anything from playing 0st ranger or am i done
can one of you fricks answer my question
Getting over 2 million points unlocks hard mode, which can be accessed by holding down for 6 seconds on the title screen. Getting to the second phase in hard mode unlocks the music player brand, assuming you've heard every other song in the game. Beating the third phase in hard mode unlocks up to 3 new ending graphics, and a bonus image in the music mode.
thank you anon
Im sure the game closes itself on purpose (Annoying as it is) but its not because i cracked the game, right anons? Lol
It's on purpose.
>done
Lol. Lmao, even.
please answer if i get anything from grinding 0st ranger
So... what words have we tried to input as an answer to the riddle?
I guess void, null, zero for being obvious 4 letter choices that fit most of the hints and jut go with the title of the game. Someone also said hope i think? idk if anything worked yet so far. might check some myself.
I've been staring at this for a while now and can't figure it out. First one so far to stump me. Am I really supposed to kill both of them using the statue or is there a trick to it? After killing the first one I need to get the statue off the edge somehow; to do that I'd need to place tiles there, which I don't see how it would be possible with this flooring everywhere.
I solved it with a trick, i dunno how to do it legitly
Push the statue left and down. All you've got to do is make the 2x2 of safe tiles and you can rebuild the whole level.
......Wait how did I not figure that out myself? Once you have a 2x2 of safe tiles it's trivial to move everything out of the way. I thought the solution would be some complicated moves done in some exact order.
crazy level isn't it?
you go from "I can't do anything" to "I can do anything I want"
walk to 1, pick up 2 and then cross to the other side. after that you should have enough white tiles to make a raft and go anywhere
All i remember is putting three tiles below the bottom hand
Hit the spicy staircase on B120+
AAAAAAHHH, FRICK
Oh well, no use crying about spilled milk
Did the game take away my chievo during the whole NG+ or was it just steam shitting up?
if you have the pendant, you have the cheevo
simple as
That's what I thought but I've never seen a game take away your achievements, didn't even know that was possible.
nope but the steam API allows you to display the steam achievement even if its unlocked
very quirky way to kinda abuse it like that I didn't know someone would use it in a game
just beaten Lillie, now at room 176 of Cif, does it get hard or am I missing something?
you're really close to where you need to be keeping an eye out for things
You'll get it.
Why doesn't Cif have any lore eggs?
she's not very talkative.
Ok so I just got to floor ??? and got sent back to the start without the VOID status, so I am assuming that I will have to get through again without making too much mistakes and/or doing something with the sigils I took screenshots of? Is there anything I am missing or is this the beginning of attempt 2 which will be like attempt 1 but I won't frick up as much
OH SO JUST USING A STAIRCASE IN FRONT OF THE THREE EYE STATUE WILL RESET YOU, OK THANKS, FRICK
Other question:
I remember a character saying that the rocks or whatever are eggs and can talk? I think I may have missed a hint there, is there something I missed or will I obtain an answer later
You need a way to hear them first.
those murals you see aren't just there to jack up the property values
I did this out of curiosity and it reset my fricking game.
Oh, so that's what the locusts are for.
Not him but what do you mean
just accidentally reset my game too
Wait nevermind I get it
the gift that keeps on giving
>around 10 seconds worth of animation before your save is reset
How do people keep falling for it?
Just press ALT + F4
Like making a mistake in a puzzle, I just take the L.
>just cheat
coal
You may only reply this point if you were never sent to a trial.
>he didn't motorboat the snake tiddies
>being proud about being such a homo
I did it for a good 10-20 times to see if she would say something about it but nothing happened
you get sent to court if you slap her knockers around enough
>he didn't touch snake tiddy
69 times
2nd playthrough
?
Take the plunge. You won't die
ALSO
I remember being told that there were ways to skip levels during playthrough 1, but feel that when I got VOIDED that some floors that had just static statues should have had something... alive in there. Should I worry about doing every level or are some skips ok?
any reason why I just got teleported ~10 floors ahead after putting mon's brand in b089 on a lillie run?
I haven't seen this many black bars since anon went to alice. What the frick is this?
just go play it
it's good
>he doesn't know
Frick I forgot to add text
oh frick I found the Defender of the Polyverse, or the Cube of Zoe, whichever joke you prefer
I have this since my first hour and I don't even know what it does
It lets you talk to things and translate stuff. Before if you were to interact with objects you'd get a ? above your head. It took me too long to realize that because I didn't interact with much before.
oh ok, I was confused because I also got the memory brand in my first hour and I've always been playing with that too, seems they're both the same thing, which makes sense since it's by finding the cube that I learned about bonking 6 times into things
Quitting won't void me, right?
it's probably been figured out already a million times and maybe that's even a cutscene in the game but I found some text to translate in the trailer
?t=27
There is also endless despair in the itch.io trailer, and a few others i didn't bother to translate in the announcement trailer from way back, if you're curious.
>haha today I will finish Dis
>4 floors and 5 hours later
>I will finish Dis tomorrow haha
so i got justice during my first playthrough for I am assuming alt-f4'ing a few times, and I think that gave me a permanent drain on my locusts. what is the specifics of that one JUSTICE and also maybe the cricket hoarding one because I do not want to lose crickets
IT COUNTS???
Deleted file because I forgot to spoiler it
I've finished what I assume is the first phase of the game. So apparently you activate those black statues by putting the stairs directly below them. Using them only puts me back at the beginning so I assume I shouldn't waste my time with them yet and just keep going down again?
.....Was it possible to do this before as well and accidentally reset you to the beginning?
Yes to both. Now finish an unvoided run
Okay so I finished pretty much all the game has to offer and now my enjoyment of any other games has dropped to 0
What can I do until the next system erasure game is released?
If you haven't played La Mulana, that hits similar cryptic puzzle feelings.
NG++
>Start writing down what the rock says.
>Black tentacle monster appears are starts eating(?) the floor
>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>Start booking it to the stairs.
>Keep going.
>Reach the bottom.
I want to get off Mr. Bones' Wild Ride.
WAIT?! It did a hard reset? All the brands are gone?
ohnonononono
That wasn't there before!
Isn't that just based on your justice value? I'm 99% sure I saw those during my first or second run.
Why is mon so fricking hard
I don't like bulls.
someone gets filtered in this floor every single thread, it's amazing
I don't even want to think about doing this without wings.
This one's so hard, I don't even know if my strat is best but it's a lot of backs and forths trying to put the pieces together
I ended up putting the other two buttons at the bottom of the screen and making them run at me while I sit on the stairs. dunno if its intended but it worked.
Just give me a tip in regards to the Void Blade. I thought I had to kill myself and become Voided on the one room with the blank Brand near the end of the dungeon but that wasn't it. Please just give me a little nudge towards a direction because I'm kind of out of ideas now
wayyyy past it
roughly halfway down or so
i wanna say around B100~
onlygnawingrageremains
I'm sorry I need another hint I can't figure it out
Have you figured out how to use the suspiciously easy 6x6 rooms in each zone yet?
>beat the centipede without a guide by just bumping the walls occasionally to frick up its pattern
damn that's a lot of dopamine I just got for free
you could have just wacked the body with the sword until the face lined up with you
I managed to do it myself as well, felt really good
Should I focus on completing a run without being voided, or look for secrets?
Probably voided first just so you can go for secrets and learn first time around. Unvoided next time and a bit more cleanup on stuff you noticed.
I've completed a voided run "legit" only had to look up hints for 3 stages, is it fine if I go nuts with infinity brand + wings + swords for my second unvoided run? I've also found two skips during my first run
sure
Frick why am I so dumb
>he didn't skip
I thought I had to play through the whole thing again
So what was cif's challenge that someone posted the brand for? and have we just given up on the light ball riddle? is this it?
THE BODY OF THE TRAITOROUS LORD CONNECTS THE BRAND
I just don't see how...
I tried this too, but in yellow. I am also stumped
Me neither anons. Unless you must rotate the images. I just don't see how,
You can use the partial vision of the brand to help with piecing it together
I gave up and looked the solution since I spent like 20 minutes on MS paint though
The puzzle is fundamentally flawed because at the same time it requires that pieces fit perfectly together but also that you imagine how imaginary pieces make it fit in empty spaces
There is more to the puzzle than that.
If you perfectly matched all the pieces together you can ignore the snake. There is only one possible way to arrange your 4 big pieces to fit into the empty spaces of the mural.
Evidently not the solution.
Use the broken mural as a base to make the finished one, and don't forget the snake tails represent the hole spots, not the spots with tiles
>the snake tails represent the hole spots, not the spots with tiles
Oh snap, I think i got it!
>the snake tails represent the hole spots, not the spots with tiles
I knew I should have bought some stronger alcohol while at the store today.
Where did the tail go?
I feel like i can't engage with these threads because I want to explore things on my own for now, but by the time I really earnestly dig as hard as I can it'll be the weekend and everything 100% will have been found so what's the point? Sad.
You'll still have the joy of finding it all yourself. I did the same, it's fun, think of it as a personal hobby challenge. I almost drowned in both physical and digital notes.
Tasukete
Jesus Christ how many more levels of ballbusting
This is as far as I go today, frick the flesh hell
guys i need more obvious help on late game progression, i just beat ng++ as cif, dont have the super rod, dont really know what to do. did a full non-voided run as cif and explored the sneaky boulders but didnt really see much new. still dunno how to interact with picross either. what do i do next?
visit cif's brand room for starters
sorry what i meant was afterwards i did a full non-voided run as gray, not cif
Bros I've been stuck in this NG+ one for like two days. I'm so moron not even the wings can help me. Any tip
just grab the button and place it near the stairs
What do you mean?. Do I need to change the position of the button for the stairs?
I also spent so much time on this level itemless that I even wrote an in depth guide for it
Holy shit that's a lot of movements. Thx!
Haven't been keeping up with things lately. Any new discoveries regarding
the light balls or how you're supposed to find the CC mode brand?
>spicy stairs myself on ng+
don't zone out lads.
happened to me twice
why this is a thing I don't know, it's the only time the game really feels like it's punishing you
What do?
I don't want to spicy stair
the rock
Thank you, I didn't realize order matters
I got the 99 locust chest
What do?
A: as gray play to end in hope a new npc appears?
B: as gray start from stage 1 with 99 locust in hope a new npc appears?
C: as gray feed 99 locust to locust statue in hope I get to somewhere new
D: pick different character
Talk to the stone in the same room.
I did. Does that mean the 99 locust are just a goody and the real treasure was the floor zero info?
Essentially yes, although the 99 locust will be helpful if you plan on doing the next big challenge unvoided.
i sure hope you dont mean playing through hard again~
No_
Playtrough as Gray without any special brands?
Just follow the hint and solve all remaining murals.
my notes are trash
what levels are the two traitorous lord fights on?
if I kill tail, will they be dead for any run now? I feel bad
I need to know which rooms are "mural" rooms so I don't miss anything like a fricking idiot
Any tips or
The ones with murals, obviously.
For the ones to input the murals, pay attention to the size of the mural grids. They all have the same grid size
The room with the mural is always at the beginning of each zone (after the tree room), every 28 levels. If the mural's destroyed, it's still the best place to find hints.
The room where you put the mural is always the same size, and there's one in each zone. If you don't find one in a zone you must have somehow skipped it.
I feel completely stuck. I managed to rescue Bee as Cif and get the upgraded rod. But now I'm utterly clueless where to go next. I still havent been able to figure Cifs brand as well
Cif's brand room looks just like the others. If you don't remember seeing such a room, something must have made you miss it. Pay close attention.
If you just want to know, it's on 223
You did not beat the game.
No one has beaten the game 100% completely blind. I refuse to believe it.
What are these things? I saw them once after I touched the big head and reset.
Popped it instead of trying to talk to it and never saw it again.
How do I make them reappear?
Once per run, and you need a certain fun value.
I just got to NG+. Feels like I uncovered a good amount of secrets but without revealing too much am I supposed to be able to complete the picross puzzles by now? I know how to do the puzzles but I haven't figured out how to input the answers. Are they meant to be floor tiles in specific rooms like the 6x6 brands?
They point at specific floor tiles, yes.
Yeah figures, back to the grind
Thanks
not him, but are those pointing out the hidden items? I've just been taking screenshots of the ones I've found and haven't figured out where they're applied yet. I've just been picking up every panel or going to conspicuous points to look for secrets so far
You know those gems that you can optionally collect on some floors as long as you're not VOIDed? The ones you can spend in the pause menu's Memories section? Yeah, there's hidden ones that the picross puzzles point you towards.
Yeah, i've found a bunch. more than I've seen hints for at least. don't even know how to read those
Does anyone have the solution or a hint for this?
Do a bit of piloting in that first statue's alcove.
Ah thanks, got it. Didn't think of pushing the freezing machine into the zap block
>having fun with NG+ itemless
>reach the wing brand floor
>all the determination to do it properly leaves my body
oh well
I beat the game without items, but do I want to beat Ng+ without items? I feel like it's going to be pure masochism
if i remember right there's a spicy staircase around the late 20s, but past that it's a fairly long while until your next one
so if you want to try it without, you can give the first two dozen floors a shot and if it's too much pain just simple memory remains yourself and start again with your stuff
if you keep going past that it gets really ass
it is
that said, there's only one I was completely unable to solve in the end
I still haven't figured it out, I gave in eventually and skipped it
definitely don't go void with no items
Is it even possible to beat the first fricking floor in Ng+ without sword/wing AND talking with the rock?
yep
You don't need one of the glass panes. Get rid of it.
iirc every floor can be completed without items, an anon or two here have pulled it off
oh not including mon and dis floors, those for sure are intended to be cleared with items
Playing as Lilie is NG+ already or is just Story Part 2?
it's what most people call ng+
Oh shit, okay, then maybe I should search for items instead of trying to beat it right away. No wonder the levels are giving me such a hard time.
What does it mean when it says Secret and gives you a radish? Am i supposed to know?
it means you found a secret 🙂
Is the picross the pattern for a floor? none of the ones I've gotten look like any room I've been to
What is this game?
A sokobon-style puzzle game about a girl in the Void.
Very good and challenging puzzle game with a shitload of secrets
Help my brain hurts
I have been trying to do this for an hour and I feel like a fricking idiot
Anon, that mural is for a different floor
...................................FRICK
do you know what mural it is, I have been through an initial playthrough. Unless it is the skip mural, which I do not want to do right now
It's the one on B029
But it's incomplete though. You'll have to figure out the full mural on the way.
I am guessing it is this one? I am playing on my PC and laptop intermittedly so screenshots on one aren't on the other, but I think this is it
Yes
am I supposed to merge it with another mural I find later down the line or is this a "much later on" kind of thing
Also I want to make sure that this isn't the skip mural that skips you far ahead that I heard about by accident
it's not the skip mural, and you don't need to merge it with any other murals
everything you need is on the way from the mural to the ice room, you just need to follow the tail
>follow the tail
nta but im going insane. ive been trying to figure this out for 12 hours now. please straight up tell me what to do. you wouldnt believe the shit i went through.
Using the pieces of the mural you already have, line up the rooms with the tail. The path they make reveals the full brand
Don't ask me how I know..
I have literally no idea what you mean. What pieces of the mural? You mean the broken mural? Am i missing something?
Certain rooms in this zone have a snake running through the edges.
You screenshot them and line them up like a jigsaw puzzle.
The resulting image shows where the empty tiles in the brand are.
Each screen represents one empty tile, so they should all be grid-aligned.
You can't see the entire unbroken snake because it runs through full tiles, which don't have a corresponding room. But every empty tile (visible screen) has at least one other empty tile adjacent, which you'll be able to connect the snake through.
Since the broken mural still has some visible parts, you can use as a guide
>the tail of the traitorous lord connects the brand
Its not a metaphor. It doesnt mean walk on the stupid tail even though you can literally touch it in some maps. It doesnt mean look out for clues in layouts of maps with a tail. It doesnt mean filter the pictures with a tail and if you put all of them into a row you get a clue. It doesnt mean applying any other knowledge you gathered in the game you know like the alphabet and the other complete murals with sentences and you basically just fill in the blanks with things you learned about the character..
No, it means make screenshots, perfectly align them on an imaginary grid, even though you dont always have a direct connection because some are just diagonally connected and apply that construct to the mural. Oh its reverse btw ;p
That is some goddamn moronic bullshit and something i would never ever found in a billion years. You are basically 100% required to make screenshots unlike all the stages in the game, the letter puzzles or the field sudoku, which could be solved with pen and paper and made some kind of sense to reverse it because you could recognize some layouts or didnt find others.
The idea is kinda cool but this is just stupid. How the frick do you even find that shit? I looked at the levels and saw some could fit but thought this would be just too bullshit. And that is not even part 1.
What the frick.
Here is what i came up with. Since nearly everybody else is called some kind of sin. I thought its either Gluttony, Lust or Pride. Which def wasnt pride i learned later and so i thought i was missing crucial info.
Well guess i did after all.
yeah the broken one, the same as in
like the other anon said, the floors will map to the empty portions of the mural.
fit the floors so the tail parts connect, then fit them to the empty portions of the mural and that will show the way
Also if you just want to skip it and get the answer, here it is.
No, here it is.
also the snake tail represents empty tiles, not filled ones
Talk to the rock
Forgot to spoiler Image, am moronic
B067
The one with the bull.
Anon...
You're working with the wrong mural
Kek frick I spent over an hour trying to do this yesterday and suspected I could be wrong but wasn't able to finish to confirm it
only reeeeeee remains
Alright Ganker, I have to go on a two week work trip tomorrow and won't have a computer. I need to get the most out of one more night of Void Stranger. I just beat Mon and found Bee last night. I've been to floor 0 and gotten the better scepter and also found the carcass thing. No spoilers, but which of these leads should I focus on first if I want to make as much progress as I can in one night:
Going to where you fight Mon as Gray
Going down the stairs after beating Mon instead of falling down the hole to Bee
Trying my brand or an empty brand on floor 225
Trying to figure something out at the giant exploding head thing if you go past floor 256
>Trying my brand or an empty brand on floor 225
definitely this one
Thx dogs
3rd.
I beat the game normally, how do I get other color schemes
just go in options, they were available from the start lol
Fuug
how do i find cifs brand
Anon bls talk to the rock at the start of her domain
it said something about how its carved but doesnt know what floor, i dont want to do another 220 levels please help
check the floor numbers as you move, as long as you aren't voided, you can easily get there when you realize what I mean
Was the ONLY thing in this room, the glowing hint on the topleft? Theres no item or anything else for me here?
Does anyone have a picture or screenshots of the alphabet? I was dumb and didn't get them all.
Damn, music good
Any kind anon that knows what to do here?
whenever I try to loopback to make a bridge to the stairs it's already full of clones
Where the hell are your other items? solve the murals anon, granted it’s impressive that you made it this far without em, but they’re still good for a few floors this deep
anyways for the solution i think you can just push the statues off, afterwards you grab an unecessary tile (you need to keep moving) and place it down to make a path towards the stairs, then grab another unnecessary one and commit to getting to the stairs with the tile in your rod
Literally just push the statues into the void, then take any 2 tiles you can to bridge out to the left and enter the stairwell.
I remember I just kept trying routes until I found one that was short/long enough. But I think I might've done it the hard way and forgotten you can probably grab the second tile right before going for the stairs. But unfortunately I don't remember many details.
This is the closest I can get, but I cant loopback with the second tile because there's too many clones by then. I remember I had a similar issue when looping over the UI
frick i solved it mindlessly and forgot the loops i used
poor little white lesbo
Question for the anons that completed the game:
How do you trigger the dev room ending? I even finished the puzzle and got a crash from screenshotting it.
Go through it, then go back to the first floor and grab the rod
You mean going through the dev room again? Grabbing the rod seemed to change nothing
Yeah go through it again, including jumping in the hole and reaching the planet room, then it'll lead you to a Spicy Staircase that takes you back to the first floor
Nothing happened. The steps I took were going into the dev room, falling into noway, dying resulting into crash, boot next to spicy staircase, pick staff, go again into dev room, going down to the spicy staircase room again, pick staff. Am I missing something?
If you fall into NOWAY you break the trigger entirely. You'll need to rest back to the title screen where you can draw brands.
Does changing the color palettes affect anything?
Just finished my second run (first one with void, second one with infinity brand) do I really need to go through the game a third time but harder now
yup
have a nice day and refuse the fruit to get your items back
nope
Will I miss anything if I use skips/locusts?
There's a few NPCs you can miss.
There's also one I saw others get but I didn't see myself, I think because I died and didn't rest at all the trees after I started over.
Does it matter if I go void with lillie
What's the solution to the b089 mural? I feel like I should have been able to bruteforce it by now
Welp, turns out I had the right pattern, just that apparently you NEED to have the exit on you for it to work.
That's a bit dumb, the game never makes it clear that the exit tile doesn't "count" as a regular one
The game does communicate this to you
The mural puzzle in the very first zone is solved already when you enter the room, all you need to do is remove the staircase and you can get your reward
it's not exactly spelled out but the very first brand room has all the squares right except for the stairs
that's presumably your clue that the stairs have to go
Well that's the problem, every square is in the right spot except the exit, so when you remove the exit you don't think "oh that worked because the exit doesn't count"
You think "Oh that works because now the pattern is right"
Gor (the giant head) hints at it if you get her quest
I want to start collecting/compiling data from this game, but I think having it be public would be best. What would be the best way to do this? A Google sheet/document that's editable? Making a Wiki? I can't for the life of me think of the best way to compile floor screenshots, potential itemless solutions, how and where memory shards are, shortcuts, the murals and brands, the things the rocks say...
I might not have the forward momentum to do it all on my own but I at least wanna start, yaknow?
I think Steam guides are perfect for that. The game isn't really big enough for a wiki since it'd probably only have like 5 actually written articles and a bunch of stubs.
On steam you'll probably reach the biggest audience too.
Thanks Anon, I didn't realize how good the editing tools for Steam Guides were. Wish me luck.
So this was was about suffering lesbians all along? I hope some lore autist collects and compiles everything later on because I'm pretty sure I missed like half of the stuff in the game.
Help, I do not see how this is possible.
You need to stop the rightmost bull from charging.
But how? I can break the glass and cut it off but without the rod I cannot make it to the exit.
my guess is use the other bull for cover?
Thanks, figured it out!
No, you don't need to cut it off. You need to make it not charge at all. What in this level would make it not try to charge at you even as you're on the same line as it?
...It's when something's blocking its line of sight
What's with b000? Is it supposed to be just a creepy room?
super-endgame content
Well frick, guess it's going to be a while, I've just started NG+
weird, the guy who uploaded the OST's channel is back, and the uploads are back too
Neat, I hope they eventually release an official OST since it has a lot of good music and I want to support the devs a bit more.
the official uploads-in-progress by eebrozgi say "It will be available on Bandcamp & Steam later this year.", hopefully it's not too far off
The worst part about me having to look up the snake brand solution is that I was so close to getting it on my own. I had all my own screenshots lined up and merged but I didn't think to arrange them in the right order to create the tile formation.
I think the looking at the incomplete mural should give you a decent idea on what to do, but yeah it’s one of the most la-maluna tier puzzle in the game so I don’t blame you for looking
I did try brute forcing it once before and didn't get it. Didn't try moving any of the normal tiles back then because I was already taking total shots in the dark and didn't want to bother trying another 100 more possible solutions
>figured out the majority of Grimrock 2's puzzles like the balance shrine, pyramid or Bog secret chest almost immediately
>get stumped on the majority of NG+'s second area because FRICK THE BULLS AND THE PRESSURE BUTTONS
Am I just fricking moronic? I don't want to use any skips just in case anything changes in terms of NPCs or items.
I HATE THE BULLS I HATE THE BULLS
IMO much of NG+ isn't really that hard, but that area was a significant chunk of the difficult puzzles all concentrated into one area. after I got through it, progress became much faster.
worst imo was the doppelgangers
there's ONE puzzle I gave up and skipped after days of trying, and it's one of those
>"slay the leech, maggot, and eye"
>slay them
>nothing happens, staircase still has the black statue
What am I missing? It doesn't say to slay the bull so I didn't, but nothing happens when I do either
the order matters
how
make the sides symmetric enough to use and fix the bridge between them.
Afterward I moved the staircase to opposite where I put the button. You get one tile of leniency here since you move before the enemy does.
making each side workable without killing the shadow mimic is very hard though
focus on keeping it off itsafe while you replace the glass on your side
also I remember I started with putting the button on the left bridge. although maybe that made it harder. But in the end it was surprisingly easy to put down the stairs opposite it
whoops
>make it all the way through DIS without VOIDing
>die to the first attack of Cif
I guess it doesn't make a difference, right?
you mean Bee, right? she eats all your locusts at the start of the fight so yeah you're pretty much voidbait
the good news is you're right, it doesn't matter
>he didn't die to Bee after losing all your locusts
impressif
Thanks, just figured out a trick/pattern early.
But this Cif fight man. I'm still stuck.
I noticed the larva is glowing but I can't get to it without being blasted. Is there some trick I'm missing? Feel like I missed an obvious exploit. Or do I have to find a way to dodge its close range atrack?
Never mind, I finally figured it out
>Never mind, I finally figured it out
please send a tip my way, I'm stuck on that fight too
protip: to defeat the cyberdemon, hit it until it dies
I don't even know why they gate a whole ending behind an entirely different game. I've solved all your silly Sokoban puzzles, why tf are you suddenly testing reaction ability
because they're not
they're still just testing your puzzle abilities
O-Oh. That was.. easier than expected
It's still a puzzle, the game's testing you to see if you'll figure it out or if you'll brute force it
collide
Supposedly according to the dataminer if you VOID during the final final sequence of the game you get new dialogue from the bat, haven't seen anyone prove that though
It's really funny that this game conceptually has everything to be a new "Youtube milking" game (hot girls, mysterious story told in convoluted manner, spooky/secret things to put in thumbnails, 4th wall breaking stuff to appeal to the Undertale-esque indie RPG consoomers), I can literally see the
>"WHAT DO THE FAILED VOID LORDS MEAN"
>"GAME THEORY: GOR IS LILY"
>"THIS GAME IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS || VOID STRANGER PART 1"
videos in my brain. But it manages to filter those kinds of people by... actually being a puzzle game instead of doing le subverting expectations.
tempt not fate, all it takes is one streamer
a game being difficult or unfun to play just means they'll watch someone else do it, if it means the opportunity to get in on what looks like the Next Big Thing
fuggin pop culture locusts
we had/are having a good run in these threads, just enjoy it while it lasts
I'm glad it hasn't become that, but I do hope that it at least manages to be a financial success, I'm not seeing mentions of this game *anywhere*. Was ZeroRanger like this? I know I saw good, if limited, press for that one.
>Was ZeroRanger like this?
ZeroRanger found the audience it was aimed at: shmup players. Shmup YouTubers average like sub 1k views, but they all know about it and talked about ZR. Modern classic and all that. More importantly, shmups.system11.org didn't hate it, which is quite an accomplishment for something non-japanese.
ZeroRanger got a pretty big signal boost by being mentioned in dunkey's "best of 2018" video. So, outside of shmup enthusiasts seeking the game out, a lot of its popularity is owed to one youtuber guy.
It'll probably happen eventually. Releasing so close to Baldur's Gate and Starfield definitely kept this game flying under the radar as hard as it has so far.
Would you like me to email Markiplier or Kaif or whoever the frick is the big horror youtuber right now and tell him about the game?
You could even email manlybadasshero, indie horror is his shit. I know atleast one game that got huge after he released a video on it.
Actually wait, I should email them about the game, but preface the email with "hey Black person". That way they'll never play it and it'll remain obscure.
Gee anon, I wonder if there's anything special about Tail. Beyond the obvious two.
In NG+ why does every chest have its item missing, yet my items didn't carry over from NG. This shit is tedious.
Die and reject the bat, you can get them back
Wait. I already did this on NG when I didn't know what it would do and then found out. Will doing this let me remain on NG+?
Once you start NG+ you unlock a Lillie brand that puts you back on NG+ when you use it
you'll get a thing that will let you, yes
hmm, Im on floor 80ish on ng+ with no items, but voided. I wonder if just reset or try to push. Probably not worth pushing since I'm voided. I'll just restart.
I opened up a spot, but I don't recognize anything like this. Is this one of the next things I need to figure out or way in the future?
That's a ≥ sign
The top part is just cypher text that you automatically translate if you have the cube and even if you can't its not terribly important. The bottom half is pretty useful for speeding up future runs.
Just got to this rock earlier today. I haven't been so dissapointed in a long while.
Lol, same. It's kinda hilarious given the room's puzzle
my head frickin hurts
Now that I'm done with cryptic puzzle bullshit, it's now time to move on to cryptic plot bullshit What was Cif's disguise? The more I thought about it, the more I think that the whole long and short hair, then removal of eyeglasses combo was a misdirection. That can't have been it. I think Cif pretended to be human for a while and watched over Gray and Lillie. It's either Gray's best friend, or (since she's in a devil costume) Lillie's best friend.
I found a secret gem on B217. I'm not sure if a Picross puzzle mentions it, but man if not good luck finding it. I'm just tearing each floor apart at random hoping I find something.
what was hitting that statue in tails room 23 times supposed to do? it went away, but i dont see anything to do now?
Double check what it said about the idol when it told you to hit it
something about how the first seal will be broken but was what i was talking to the first seal?
It said something about the idol specifically
this is all it says and it doesnt really give me an idea of where to check, please dont be mysterious because im very stupid
>"guarding their weakness"
How many items do you have? It should make more sense if you have the sword
i do have it, i tried to find a place to maybe slash her butt but didnt see anything, she was like "come talk to my face" and i couldnt find anywhere to swing it at her
The very tip of her tail behind her
Is this one of those games with meta narratives like Inscyption?
Also why is a sokoban game so popular here, is the story that good? Sell me on it
Nope.
Kinda, but also because it's not as ball-bustingly aggravating as the original Sokobon. Baba is You was also super popular here.
Notice how the thread is nothing but black bars? The game isn't quite to the La-Mulana level of secrets but it's up there. Every time you uncover something three new rabbit holes open up for you to explore
>datamined dialogue
>reveals the true nature of DIS
>why Erasure was there
>Cif feels sorry about what happened to the traitors, further cementing her as the most sympathetic void lord
Why would they cut this shit from the game, the hell.
>ng b62
I must be fricking moronic because I know what I have to do but I can't do it.
FRICKING FINALLY
To anyone struggling with the same level, the final step is removing the block in between the two buttons. Work backwards from there.
Tunic, and I guess Oddworld: Abe's Oddssey would count?
on the topic of similar-ish games. any other games that have stuff like this and Outer Wilds with their amazing "this was always here you just didn't know about it" moments?
hard pressed to call it really similar but i feel like rain world is a little bit like that
doesn't explain much and knowledge is by far your greatest powerup
areas that took you hours to get through the first time will be a joke the second time around
starts off simply but expands rapidly in scope as you find things out
Final "boss" spoiler question
is there any gimmick to look out for in the shmup boss? I can shmup well enough but don't want to be blindsided by a "lol touch this to to win" or "touch this and your save is wiped lol"
It's pretty easy until the last section, in which you either die and the game ends, or you win, the game plays an extra 2 minute segment, then it ends
no save wipe, but there is one thing to look out for. During the final phase, dying will skip you to the final cutscene. If you don't die during the final phase and go up to the boss' heart and press Z you get an extra tiny lil area/scene.
I immediately flew into the heart because that is what you did in the tlb of zeroranger. So you're saying I should not have done that. Come the frick on.
Kino at least, for sure.
>ending spoilers
Without giving everything away, I thought I'd unlock the shmup minigame or devroom? Can anyone just hint at where these are located in the game? I am not crazy about going through DIS again but I assume I have to.
keep watching the credits for at least one of those
This? It said "We'll meet when you're done!"
You still don't know how to use mural brands anon?
ohhhh lol, I got you. I honestly would not have thought of that.
I really just want the shmup minigame...
Where else can you enter brands?
I'm flat out stuck in B129, what the frick do I do to kill the larva?
create a list of things that could potentially kill it
oh my fricking god seriously, that just outed me as fricking dumb.
Thanks.
Not that anon, but pic related was me for about a half hour spent in that room
I was stuck in that room for 2 days, granted I'm not going all in because I do take the advice of taking breaks, but jesus christ do I feel moronic now.
I had never heard of this game until last night. I like puzzles up until a certain point. Does it eventually get very difficult for dumb-dumbs and people who get frustrated easily?
i'd probably fall into the latter category but i still made it through (with a little help from here)
there's always the try before you buy option but i feel like this is a pretty good game in terms of sucking you in
except for a couple puzzles it's very fair
It's got built in dumb-dumb handicaps that I thoroughly used but I did have to ask for help a couple of times.
>jazz music stops
use your wings 🙂
I already figured that was it but it's still a funny room to walk into
What's behind the statue?
I've been had...
but then what do I do with the seal then
I don't understand the first seal thing
I go to the snake room, hit the statue 23 times, I wait, the statue explode... then I go back to the first seal and nothing changes, it still wants me to do those things, what do?
im literally in the same boat, i went back there and its broken but no idea how to progress
what is her name again?
i killed her already but dunno what to do next.. her name is Tail?
She goes by Tail, but I don't thnk that is her real name
It gets hard at times. I think the hardest part of the game is learning the strategies. Once you go through many floors you start getting a knack for strategies to tackle floors. Sometimes there are BS rooms or especially hard floors, so that is usually when we ask for help. There are certain rooms that commonly filter people.
I do not remember
B000 have anything on it? I didnt bring the sword should i come here with lil or nah
Yeah, fully deck out Gray or Lil and solve it and any missing mural brands.
I need help badly on this, there's just too many directions to take this one
right right right down down left right slash right right right down left left left left figure it out and desync him up top
thanks, also sorry for not spoiling it
implying that's not the first thing I thought of when I started the level
moron, next time just keep your mouth shut
I saw a Twitch streamer trying to fight that "boss" for hours and hours and hours
Ohhh you need the sword to cut the tail for the first seal. That makes sense. Wish I had known that before hand, I went back to that room like 3 times to destroy the statue thinking I was doing something wrong
Does the instakill tile have some property I don't know about?
I feel like the rock saying "I'll wait for you to figure it out" means I should be able to beat it without pushing the rock by going around the top. And since the memory crystal is on a regular white tile I assume that should be the only thing I have to pick up / place
Forgot pic
Welcome to the most BS room in the game.
You should check your memories...
What the frick did I even do, it just turned on the stairs
I saw a post a few days ago about checking memories for something bullshit, how does it actually work?
Every time you pause the game the statue moves up 1 tile.
It's a really stupid room and I hope they fix the hint or remove it.
God damn
Having never done this one before, it looks pretty fricking simple to me. Does the rock's dialog change if you move it or something?
Cause if not, it's a super simple solution of bringing 1 tile with you, placing it below the instakill and then flying to safety.
>Spoiler didn't work
Weird.
The statue sits on an (activated) one-use tile.
Ah.
Brain's melting tonight and i'm not seeing how to tackle this particular DIS one . Any tips?
You might not have noticed, but the rod-use counter statues are also on pre-activated falling tiles.
Got it. Brain's definetly done for today so i didn't check the tiles the statues are on . Thank you
there's an extremely specific opener you need to do
protip: the frick you don't use your staff statues are sitting on top of activated tiles
I think this might be the first room where you need to drop all Lew statues on the same tick after lighting some. Otherwise just follow the egg's instructions.
You have to kill the leech before it gets fried by lightning.
I got the cube! What does it do?
You should check the chest again.
And if you need another tip, there's someone else to talk to in the room.
>b06? on ng+
>three bulls, three buttons, bullshit galore
>accidentally kill some of the bulls
>try to throw myself into a hole
>it's in front of a locus statue
>warp to B11?
>shadowclone shit, dragon statues and Tan statues
>no locusts
>no idea what to fricking do
I just want the FRICKING PLOT
Use special brands, and any shortcuts/warps you want/can discover.
that's a shit room and i understand your frustration but i think you fricked yourself harder than necessary by doing that
The worst thing is that I didn't even do it on purpose. It was 5 AM, I was hungry as shit and I can't sleep because surgery pain so I thought I'd knock out a few NG+ floors until it's breakfast time.
Now I'm just sitting here fuming like a tard because I'll probably have to Simple Memory this shit and I didn't take down any notes on my NG+ solutions. Frick.
Hopefully you are unvoided and can restart to get back to where you were. Honestly, if you just want the plot just skip from tree to tree like I did.
oh god, help me...
The bottom left one is the last to kill, you kill a bunch on the right by pushing statues
to be a bit more specific, make sure the snake statue is next to middle statue blocking the entrance so your safe from the above and right statue when entering the stairs
you literally have this? push the snek left and up to the stairs row
kill the right hand
kill the left corner hand
go down stairs
ah frick i'm moronic, disregard that i suck wieners
So for B000, do I need to revisit each seal room individually or if something's implicitly broken it's going to burn the seal anyways? As in say I killed the snake and used the sword brand, should I go back to the snake mural room and the sword mural room for the seals to count?
Nah, if you break the thing the seal's linked to, the seal's broken without having to revisit the room the seal's in.
Kills count. No need to double check.
So we all agree this is the worst enemy type in the game right
That's not a mimic.
Give me a thousand mimics before you give me one bull
>Time to find Bee!
>Didn't find Bee
You tell me
I guess I missed something.
Should I?
You definitely missed something super obvious. Maybe stop using shortcuts.
I didn't use a single shortcut
Then you are blind.
Did you see the footsteps? Follow them as long as possible, they take a detour
Ah, I noticed them, but I guess I didn't focus enough to see if they were deviating from the path. Anyway, I found this. Good or bad?
be careful, it can do a full wipe of your save
Noted.
How? I got there a couple times and couldn't get it to do anything
Same as Egg and Memory chest, 6 and 6, it makes the same sound too.
Very bad, leave at once.
Or don't and just say yes.
Yep. Time to succumb to your own spicy staircase. Did you talk to Tail? She gives a hint on where you should be paying more attention.
what does your simple memory tell you?
>I can now literally see the moves in my head and what happens when I try to give hints to anons posting rooms
What the frick. Are all puzzle games like this
going through the bullshit that is mon's and dis' rooms really made me able to do that, so many of them require meticulous planning
So, just to confirm for NG+, You can't actually find your items again naturally? You have to use the brands to get them again, correct?
You can, if you didn't use them on Gray's run.
you could die and start over and then get them after inputting lillie's brand
I'm at an area with fake rocks and tiles that appear in front of you. Will it just keep generating more levels with no end?
No, but at the end of it you get your save completely wiped.
that's incorrect
If you see every variation of those rooms you get to see something interesting
There is a set of levels for that area.
It randomly picks ones you haven't completed since you got there.
Once you complete all of them in one run you reach the end.
Better hurry.
also the guy saying your save *will* be wiped is wrong, you have to specifically agree to delete your save file, so simply do not do that
>enter DIS
>game turns from a sokoban to a roided super lolo
please help...
It only gets easier from there and by easier I mean much harder
Wait. That isn't Dis. That's the funhouse
Is it? I just followed the footsteps
yeah that's the fun house of happy fun times
you'll know when you hit ***
You'll know DIS when you see it. That's just the funhouse.
That's super easy anon...
Kill the idiot on the top left immediately
thanks lads, gonna wrap it up here
This one's a lot easier than it seems, thankfully.
Step 1: Crush the top left guy.
Step 2: Smash the remaining together.
Step 3: Actually Step 1.5, lol, get in the lower left.
>room wants you to kill the enemies to get the chest
>you need one statue to open the exit
>all statue explodes when all the enemies die
is the game moronic?
Are you?
The room isn't hard, I get that the puzzle is to make it so the enemies don't die so you can push the statue on the button
BUT a normal player will see the chest behind the statue and think he has to kill the enemies, only realizing after they're dead that it was a cheap trap, it's bad design
What the hell do you mean?
You can push the rightmost statue and get the chest...
And by the time you do that, the enemies will have killed themselves, thus requiring you to suicide, going for the chest AT ALL is a trap that will result in you needed to restart.
>And by the time you do that, the enemies will have killed themselves
Yes, hence why first you deal with that, then you push the statue. Jesus, you're so fricking stupid.
Again, you're missing my point.
The first time you see this room, the first time you enter it, with no prior knowledge, you have no idea that the enemies will kill themselves after some time, blocking your progress, so naturally most player will try to get the chest FIRST. Of course it's easy once you know that it's a trap, but you don't know that when you FIRST enter the room.
>the first time you see something it's going to surprise you
Incredible...
I just think surprising you with a death isn't the most fair thing in the world
then again you can pretty much get infinite lives so it really doesn't matter much
>aiieeeee a trap oh no i have lost a single locust as penance for my inability to think ahead
come
on
boy
You can just sit there and think. It's not timed...
If you're already crying about this room just wait till what comes later... Maybe you should just put the game down and go play hello kitty island adventure.
Also, you have prior knowledge. This room comes after the ones teaching you about enemy crashing, these statues, and these buttons.
It's the first time the statues being destroyed is a bad thing, but you have all the information required to realize it can be. It just requires that you stop and think rather than immediately running around carelessly.
Anon, the most obvious solution fricking you over is a puzzle staple and expected. I seriously doubt anyone making it floor 133 hasn't already internalized that.
>place block in front of snake
>remove block between snake and maggot
You now have infinite turns to think about how to get the chest
>make bad assumption
>see that the game contradicts this assumption
>"wtf man this game is broken"
>aiiieeee how could i be tricked into thinking a thing this is devilishly impossible design
come on boy
I don't think it's too bad. By the time they reach 133, even a normal player shouldn't give a frick about chests and locusts. Besides, a reset of the room is just one button press away. There's one terribly designed room that's bullshit and it's not that one.
If only there was some way to give the leech a longer path.
>Failing the IQ check
Anon...
Anon, turn off the wings. They're turning off your brain.
It really helps to recognize when it's completely impossible for you to do something. For instance here there is absolutely no way that you can complete the level after killing all enemies. As such, it MUST be possible to get the chest without exploding the statues, and your assumption that you need to explode the statues must be wrong.
Finally, I can play muh shmup
though I feel like I should try for a DIS run with Lillie just because of story text reasons. Though getting through the stages even with warps is a pain in the ass with her.
How come the thief didn't spawn again? Other npcs did
npcs only respawn if you die and refuse the fruit, or get an ending that puts you back at the brand entry screen.
The thief still doesn't respawn when all the other NPCs do. I assume they don't spawn if you already have items or something
I assume she doesn't spawn if you have wings and/or sword since it might break the chase.
I actually have never had the thief spawn in any of my runs, I am pretty confused about it.
actually now that I think about it, what you
said about items probably makes sense anon.
could i get a hint im getting brainchecked on this
and i know im not even at the hard stuff
IM GONNA LOOP!!!
choo choo
im still not getting it
nevermind just got it. got the button and the clone up into the corner
you can relocate 4 tiles
Tempted to do the same myself. It seems kinda a big deal storywise.
So the golem in the spooky black area doesn't seem to spawn if you just stay still. I kind of wanted to get a screenshot.
"Nothing but a straight road, take a fall before your reflection" Am i wrong here?
Oops, wrong pic
Yup.
>take the fall before your reflection
Ive fallen every single area around here. Which space is it?
You're wrong.
Think of what else can count as "your reflection"
Hint 2: It's another enemy
>Nothing but a straight road
>Clearly has more than just a straight road in it.
Wrong floor. I spent a while here too trying to figure it out because I forgot that I had already found the real shortcut on accident
God I absolutely fricking hate the B058 music and I hate it twice as much now that I'm in NG+.
