When he died from being fat, it turned out he was the only one working on it. I think he died right before or right after the reboot was announced, don't really remember.
This is why I'm spitting on their grave. They released a sterile 80s sitcom version of Saints Row, which used to be similar to GTA San Andreas in its focus on gangs, territory, low-level organized crime that increases in scale over the game. The game is marked by moronic Joss Whedon tier humor, and it isn't really about the ghetto. It was shit on by most fans immediately, and the twitter hambeast told fans to just get over it. They were going in a new direction, and they didn't need the older fans, just the Fortnite crowd. Then the game fricking bombed and destroyed the entire studio.
Because a lotta shit that succeeded didn't succeed based on the merit of its value as a game, it succeeded based on being part of already established series with dedicated or starved fanbases. Like communism, it can only survive when it has something strong to leech off of, until it takes too much blood and the host dies. Baldur's gate is the most recent example of this, core franchise with dedicated fanbase that hasn't seen a release in a long time. People aren't buying it because they like the wokeshit, those that like it are a very vocal minority that are being shoved in peoples faces to "represent the majority" when they're not. SR1 and SR2 are both great games but after that they went full moron mode and completely lost what made Saints Row good in the first place. The conversation gat has with boss in jail pretty much summed up the change entirely and I refuse to believe that coincidence having Gat call out the group for selling out and boss defending it as good for sales of product which Gat retorts "is that all that matters?" and him being the only one to die. They knew the change would forever change the series for the worst for a short lived success going over the top with their last two games and rebooting after knowing they couldn't push the original series any further.
Don't forget they actually thought Jane Austen, an author only bored housewives give a frick about, was a worthy inclusion to the series played predominantly by men 18 to 45. They even had Zinyak read P&P in a fricking audiobook. Like, who the frick were they thinking would like that shit?

So they tried to make a woke movie, failed, and stumbled into success. Also lot's of women and girls went to see it just because it's Barbie, and had no idea what the movie was even about.
Baldur's Gate seems to cast a broad enough net without being too preachy or stereotypically woke, and gives people enough freedom to do whatever they want or associate with whatever character.
