Combat doesn't know if it wants to be an action RPG or DMC. Fails at both.
Story is mediocre as hell so far
Nailed it in the first post.
How to "fix" ff16
>Go full DMC party: just have multiple playable characters with unique move sets you can swap between on the fly instead of Clive having all the powers
>cut the QTEs and asura's wrath sections
>elemental damage bonus(fire can still hurt fire but ice can do more damage)
>more breasts
>option dungeons
>tighter pace for the story
>give it a more unique art style
>keep slavery shit but have the bearers be the slavers
>have it be at a constant 60 fps
That or square enix can finally give you guys what you want. A actual turn base party base ff game. How long has it been for you guys, 20 years? Not like I trust them to actually make a competent turn base action game for ff again.
Story is fine, is the writing thats a let down, characters like Jill or Barnabas are way under developed
>Story is fine
No, it isn't. The idea that humanity is draining the land of life has been done in both VII and XIV. We didn't need that again, particularly not in a Game of Thrones universe.
>Humanity is draining the land of life
You haven’t played the game.
Just stop.
Has literally anyone who says this game is bad fricking played it?
You think third-world dwelling Black folk can afford a PS5 and a $70 game? They haven’t played shit aside from toaster-tier compatible games on their dumpster-obtained PCs.
>All those posters asking "when is it on PC" to then pirate it are third worlders
Makes sense.
The blight is the land being drained of aether by the crystals/magic use. Your character literally journeys the land to destroy the crystals and create a magic-free world.
you haven't played the game
Just stop.
>The idea that humanity is draining the land of life has been done in both VII and XIV
So ?
>We didn't need that again
Who is this we ? you certainly don't speak for me.
>particularly not in a Game of Thrones universe
I don't remember the anime-esque kaiju fights in GoT.
Barry is an ass mad XV-fanboy abbo, still around but nowadays think of "barry" mostly as a sock puppet account used as larping for a couple of tribalistic FF fanboys and some what i believe to be nintendo fanboy shitposters. Just about every mainline title has their own schizo, but none have been as dedicated as this one piss baby aussie.
Half the story is ripped from Game of Thrones.
That’s a lazy criticism. A lot of these posts are typical Ganker contrarianism and homosexual consolewarring nonsense. I expect much of the same when Starfield hits.
homie almost the whole cast is underdeveloped save for Clive, Cid and Dion
Thsts what Im saying. But even some of the npcs are better written than the dominants cast, they desperately need an extra
Dion isn't great either. Gav was better than him tbh.
this
tho i haven't done all the sidequests which is where most of the character development comes from in my experience
there's a lot of quests littered around valesthia that gives depth to a the overworld and the characters that we have met
easiest example being Torgal's questline
that does not excuse Jill being a nobody tho
I swear she doesn't need to be in half of the adventures
it would make sense if she was introduced as someone with a fragile body or something but what did she do the entire game except being a motivator and a lover to Clive?
I gave up on the character the moment she just stood still while Ultima was gonna grab Clive and instead let Cid, who's fricking stabbed, to rescue Clive
like what the frick were the writers thinking?
>it would make sense if she was introduced as someone with a fragile body or something
She is. You're explicitly told so many times that she's ill from having used Shiva so often.
If we are talking about the consequence of using Eikons then Joshua should be in wheelchairs
She never even so much as coughed blood
Again, she is an extremely weak character compared to the rest
If she's not Clive's romantic interest, how much more character does she have than say, Vivian?
Like half of her character is thanks to Clive
>She never even so much as coughed blood
Why are people watching playthroughs from people that skip cutscenes?
Because people like to act like they know everything without even touching the damn game.
Cuz the shitposters here are just watching youtube walkthroughs or streamers, they are arguing in bad faith, have not played the game. Maybe they don't have money or mommy/daddy wont get them a PS5 so they have to shitpost and hate on it from afar.
Or it's the usual PC gays and tendies that hate on it cuz 'le Snoy exclusive'. Happened with FF7R too.
okay, my bad, i guess she did coughed once or twice (maybe in the beginning? and sometime later?)
but that doesn't change the fact that she is an extremely weak character
tell me, how did Jill developed as a character? Because I honestly can't tell
She's supposed to change after Drake's Breath? Tail or whatever the frick but she's basically the same character throughout
>then Joshua should be in wheelchairs
he's constantly shown as weak and coughing up blood and shit
Yea, I am talking about degree here
If Joshua is spitting and shitting blood every few cutscenes but STILL done so much to the story then what is Jill's excuse?
Now, this is very shallow comparison, of course
coughing does not make a character
but am i really crazy to think that she's a really weak character? I just don't get it, I thought they want to play with this damsel trope so that Barnabas would kill her to "awaken" Clive but she just stands behind after the second half of the game and does...nothing except getting captured.
FPBP, its a game that wants to break away from most FF traditions but simultaneously let's those traditions hold it back to not scare too many people away. Typical Yoshida and CBU3 blunder, I really wish they were true to their word but in the end I'm not surprised. Sad thing is game could've been phenomenal with some tweaks to what's already there.
>can air-juggle staggered enemies
>zones have reasons to explore them
>no levels, meaning fewer side quests and a better-tuned difficulty
>side-quests expanded to have neat cosmetics, reasons to explore, etc (not all will be winners but at least cuts the fluff that exist just for +50 xp)
>status afflictions like poison, slow, reverse controls
>can issue basic commands party members while they're present
>SECRET FRICKING BOSSES SECRET MOBS SECRET WEAPONS JUST ANYTHING HOLY SHIT WHY EVEN HAVE OPEN ZONES IF THERE'S NO REASON TO EXPLORE WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
>Leviathan, Omega, Gilgamesh
>no levels, meaning fewer side quests and a better-tuned difficulty
Normally I'd balk at a Final Fantasy game without levels but they're so pointless in this one it would actually be better if they were gone
there's not even fricking POISON in this game?
When you get by Bad Breath you just take a chunk of damage, and that's in the demo lol.
Other people on Ganker hate it so I do as well.
cultural imperialism
>says the royalist in a crystal-preserving bulletin
No Wigglers
troony Black person
I don't hate this game, I am just insisting that people recognize that it's not a final fantasy game and that final fantasy fans are in the right for being disappointed with the game.
>w-well then what makes a final fantasy game
primarily party play. At least some moderate amount of party management and control over characters aside from the main protag. There is no other mainline FF game that makes you only play one character. Even 13 had party management.
>There is no other mainline FF game that makes you only play one character
XV at the release, entirety of Lightning Returns.
Also it would useless as frick to have party control in XVI. Clive already uses the powers of all the Eikons by the end of it, you wouldn't gain anything with limiting yourself to one Eikon with controlling Jill or Cid imo.
It's a bad RPG and a bad action game.
It's funny to see dipshit takes like this because FF7R exists. It does literally everything better than XVI in terms of fusing the two gameplay styles together and making your party feel like it matters. It's like everyone forgot that other games exist when this one came out.
>FF game
>XV, XIII
>XV
describe the purpose of this screen
Came out 3 years after the release with Royal edition.
morons proving you never played XV
Dude...
Prompto, Gladio and Ignis at least always felt like they were in your party despite not always having the ability to fully control them.
>Hates game
>Turns out he doesn't know the first thing about it
Clockworkbro...
In FF15 I can see Gladio and Ignis and Prompto's HP bar, I can open a menu and use items on them, I can use the technique bar to give them an individual command that I have set and unlocked from the ascension grid, I can equip their weapons, accessories, outfit, level them up, enhance their skills, performe link attacks with them, unlock abilities and actions they perform as AI from the ascension grid to increase what they do as AI, etc
I can also see the HP bar of Aranea, Cor and Iris in addition to using items on them from a menu, performing link attacks with them and giving them a technique command from the technique bar costing meter, in addition I can view their stats and gear
In addition to all that which is all in base game I can also swap to play as Ignis or Gladio or Prompto which are all unique systens with unique meters too in addition to MP bars, and can also play as Ardyn who has Ifrit as a party member you can give commands to
In FF13 I can see Sahz or Snow or Hope's, or Vanile or Fangs HP bar, I can see their paradigm shift to know their AI movepool is, I can use items on them and I can manage their accessories and weapon equipment in addition to unlocking new commands to their move pool in the crystariam grid, and can change party leader to change who you directly input commands on
In FF12 I can see the HP bars for Ashe or Basch or Balthier or Fran or Penelo, I can see their MP and ATB meter, I can dictate commands to them and tell their AI what to do in gambits and change their weapons and equipment and level up
In FF16? Only Clive can level up, equip and be customized and have items used on, torgal is just a dog AI that either attacks as AI or heals with no resource attached while Jill or Cid are just completely seperate AI with no menus, no customising, no levelling, no equipment, no stats, cant even use items on them, NO HP BAR
And 16 has less stats than any FF in history, only attack, defense, stagger and hp
Cope Yoshi-P cultist
>In FF13
He said LR you illiterates jesus fricking christ
LR isn't mainline moron and that still has more stats than FF16
Found the Reddit Spacinf Barry
>In FF15
Stopped reading there.
>I am just insisting that people recognize that it's not a final fantasy game
What is a final fantasy game? What characterizes a final fantasy game? X and I have nothing of significance in common. Same with VIII and VI etc. etc. Final fantasy is whatever square decides to give you and you can either like or hate it based on its own individual merits.
>What is a final fantasy game?
I mention it in the very post you are replying to
>X and I have nothing of significance in common.
Except for both being turn based combat? C'mon Anon, you really could have picked a better example.
>Pretends to not know that 'Final Fantasy game' = I to X-2, XIII and XIII-2 every time it's brought up
you literally start the game playing as phoenix joshua and then actually play as him like an hour in
oh I didn't know this, could you tell me if you ever play as joshua ever again outside of the prologue sequence? I really want to know.
There's at least two more eikon fights with him in it based on trailers and leaks
>primarily party play.
But FF16 does have party play?
You have Ifrit Clive
You have Gardua Clive
You have Ramuh Clive
You have Titan Clive
etc.
There's arguably more characters in FF16 than any other final fantasy game ever
That isn't a party and those offer even less than a single weapon in ffxv offers
>I don't hate this man, I am just insisting that people recognize that he's not a TRUE Scotsman and that Scottish people are in the right for being disappointed with him.
Sour grapes. The smear campaign has been obvious and frankly weird.
Bad story. Barry won.
It's shit and the worst FF, which Is impressive since XV exists.
Story is boring. Characters are shit. MUH GORE AND VIOLENCE WOOOAH. Literally one button combat.
>One button combat
>Square for attack
>Triangle for ranged attack
>R2+button for special attacks
>X for combination stomps
>Circle for Eikon special abilities
>R3 + L3 for limit break
>Square+triangle for dash attack
>R1 for dodge
>One button combat
This guy plays with the easy mode accessories LMAO
for first 15 hours of the game you are using square 80% of the time. There is no point doing anything else then just mash square and rotate eikon skills on cd.
You CAN juggle with Torgal and continue mid-air combo with Garuda and then warp with Phoenix to the next target while up.
But why
Because it’s fun
That's literally less than FFXV has
Funny enough there is no gore and violence just cutscenes of censored decapitations its just mire violent than troony mmo by showing more blood in cutscenes
you see a dude's hands get cut off and his bloody stumps are focused on. Half the time Clive and co have blood splatters on their faces from the fight you just did a few seconds ago.
That dude then gets punched out of existence before some troony or gay jap gonna have ptsd of 3d non anime gore and he beat cluve to death with his stumps
>gore and violence just cutscenes of censored decapitations
What did anon mean by this?
Thst scene last less than 5 minutes until sleipnir removes cuckman from the screen saying nothing to see
>says the game doesn’t have gore or violence
>show picture of it having both
>says it doesn’t count because it’s too short
What did anon mean by this
Black person you dont see clive grabing a werewolf with his hands and tearing its jaw in gsmeplay like kratos in onions of war , you just get funny kicking down enemies
You're asking for a remake of Drakengard. Clive is already teetering on the edge of being a bloodthirsty psychopath but he's still not there on the same level as Caim, which it seems is what you're asking for. It's not that kind of game or setting
>Brutally destroying your enemy is being psycho
I liked how he admitted to Hugo that he was the one who killed Benedikta and he made it sound more brutal than it really was by saying that Cid didn't have the guts to put down a b***h that was a lost cause.
Yeah, personally I would have liked to see Clive talk some mind game shit more often. Then during the second encounter
>Oh, shit! He's priming!
Kek
Bravely Default is the last true final fantasy game
Speaking of Bravely Default, how's the Switch entry? I only played the first two.
It's more of the same, with worse characters, story, music and graphics
Gameplay is still good, also it's on Steam
Bravely Default 2 a straight played-safe downgrade to the first game. It's not offensively bad but the gameplay has also been changed for the worse in 2.
It's game that pretends to be mature with deep engaging gameplay, but it's just another shallow goyslop by westaboos who still don't understand why their PS1/PS2 era games were popular.
It's better than every PS2 FF game though.
It's not better than X or XII.
Not on my Nintendo toy.
It's forced Fantasy.
have a nice day
It's shit
why?
Its a boring piece of not fantasy.
This has been ongoing since FF7.
FF fanbase is one of the most autistic fanbases ever, prob rivalling the Star Wars fanbase. The latest movie/game is always 'shit', 'terrible', and an 'affront' to Final Fantasy.
FF7 = got shit on for all the FMV, what they perceived to be rushed and incomplete game, got shit on for all the techno/scifi stuff, OG fans said FF6 was better and the true FF, FF should only be about medieval shit, etc.
FF8 = got shit on for 'realistic' characters, true FF should only be chibi and anime designs, yadda yadda. Got shit on for even more FMVs and summons that take forever.
FF9 = a reactionary move to throw 'OG fans' a bone that shit on FF7/FF8. Played it relatively safe, did the least possible to offend. Didnt appeal to FF7/FF8 fans who expected cutting edge realistic graphics after FF8.
FF10 = got shit on for no airships, hallway design, and cringy voice acting (game wouldve been better off if they subbed it)
FF12 = got shit on for 'it plays itself' gambit system, Matsuno leaving early in development, obviously incomplete story, etc.
FF13 = got shit on for linear hallway design, no towns, story, too many FMVs, etc.
FF13-2/3 = not worth mentioning
FF15 = got shit on for cringy boyband cast, a Snapchat cringy blonde wigger saying dumb shit all the time, story going off the rails at the last part, obviously rushed and incomplete story, characters barely mattering and having a story arc, etc.
Now here is FF16. No different really. Every FF has been shit on relentlessly since 7.
Oh, forgot. A big part that added to the shitting on FF7 was also console warring. Nintendo fanboys added to the pile on cuz of the 'betrayal' of moving from Nintendo to Sony.
I'm gonna take a prediction and say that 30% of the shitposters behind FFXVI are tendies/xbots.
>A big part that added to the shitting on FF7 was also console warring.
The only people who think console wars are still a thing are legitimately moronic and will take any excuse to cope / handwave people not liking a game they like.
>FF fanbase is one of the most autistic fanbases ever, prob rivalling the Star Wars fanbase. The latest movie/game is always 'shit', 'terrible', and an 'affront' to Final Fantasy.
Holy fricking this. I actually like 9, 10 and 15 but the fan base is absolute cancer. You correctly make the Star Wars comparison because just like them being split on the prequels FF fans can never decide which games are good or not. I've seen dozens of die hard FF fans defend 13 and 8 like dear god have some shame. That's like a fallout fan defending 4.
>"MY LE PARTY MANAGEMENT"
Seek help.
>"I ADDED LE "le" SO IT MAKES YOUR ARGUMENT INVALID!"
grow up.
ill never post in another final fantasy thread ever again if you can bring up one mainline final fantasy game where you can't see the stats of a party member
Technically you can see the stats of a party member in FF16 because you can view Torgal's 😉
Technically you can use other members of your party in FF16 because you can command Torgal to attack (;
yeah that is a technicality and therefore even you know it doesn't count lol
This party member that doesn't have any gear, levels up when you level up, and has the same commands the entire game definitely satisfies the "party management" aspect of Final Fantasy and isn't actually just an extension of the main character
I'm new to the ff fanbase but so far what I'm seeing is a huge victim complex from many of these people.
>we don't like the game and articulate reasons why
>HOW DARE YOU NOT LIKE THE GAME, STOP ACTING LIKE VICTIMS
then they start calling you barry
this barry meme shoud die. It's the same dumb shit like da israelites.
it's not a meme
he is real
unfortunately he's become a bit of a standalone complex
sure buddy. And everyone who don't like XVI is barry or influenced by him.
you will know when barry is here. how? the mods ban him on site. you'll see about 150 posts deleted at the same time which means that poster got IP banned. him and ACK (basically the barry of Ganker and sometimes /vg/) are legitimate mentally ill Ganker posters
I will admit bringing the Barry thing up all the damn time is stupid
Even if he's real and an idiot or whatever, it just gives him power
>just saying I'm talking about the ff fanbase in general
>This guy immediately thinks I'm talking only about people who dislike the game
Well, thanks for proving my point I guess, have a nice day.
Frick yeah another shill thread, fantastic. Thanks again mods.
Did people actually want DMC combat with level ups and skill cooldowns stretched for more than 20 hours? Nothing in this game feels like it couldn’t have included elemental weaknesses or reactions. They give you a lot of tools but somehow everything feels so basic
Squaresoft's death is why I haven't bought games in 20 years.
then what the frick is a copy of 14 doing in your box, anon?
Just wish their was more gameplay and sidequests I'm actually enjoying it just wish they had more enemy encounters and let me change his outfit.i think the lack of party members kills it no idea why gav and goetz are not just tagging along for the shits.
>"frick!"
>"frick frick frick!"
>"you fricking!"
>"frick you!!!"
You don't look a day over 12,000!
did people in medieval times even use "frick" to curse?
Yes
Modern English only goes back to like the 1600s or some shit.
The haters hate DMC5, so it fits since this is DMC6 RPG
There's a vocal segment of haters that love dmcv but hate ff16. Because the story of 16 ruins the fricking pacing and bores them to death.
>I fricking kill yuuuuuuuuuuu
Even the developers know how much of a non-RPG FF16 is that the stats literally do not matter and they tried to obfuscate this by making 6 different stats which only do 2 things.
>HP
>Defense
>VIT
increases defense
>Attack
>STR
>Stagger
>WIL
increase damage
There isn't even a dedicated magic or ranged attack stat. There are no builds, there is no gear variety. Every single piece of gear increases either all your damage or all your defenses.
There are literally pieces of gear that have split stats less than 2 hours into the game
So far I haven't seen a single actual criticism in any of these threads so I assume FFXVI is a good game.
>crying about MMOs (who cares? it isn't one???)
>just saying "X is shit" with no elaboration (can be immediately ignored)
>crying about previous final fantasy games (irrelevant??)
>saying they dont like the story (literally every FF has had whiners with this complaint)
>saying they dont like the combat (personal preference, people whining since they removed turn based)
>saying that it isn't a final fantasy (um..literally in the title of the game? lmao)
I would love for someone to actually provide well thought out reasons why the game isn't good but so far all I've seen is the equivalent of a childish whine.
The game could be great. All anyone is saying is that it isn't final fantasy because there is largely no party play.
>muh party play
You tards should've realised FF was always abt doing sth different combat wise every game which can extend to having it only be one character.
There hasn't been a single valid defence of ff16
>level up doesn't do much
>you need tentacle hands to play
>No gold saucer
And nah i won't use pussy ring
Defending the gameplay is forced disingenuous shitposting
because i/we want FF with a party and RPG system and not a stupid DMC clone.
/thread
Least dragon quest has stayed traditional o wait next one is also a action game will we ever see a big AAA turn based RPG again probably not jy0h0
it has forced action
MMO devs = MMO quality = Do not Play
not an rpg
no exploration
no party
bland story
bad story
the worst sidequests in history
It's not very good
The combat is so bad and the design has no cohesiveness or soul, but I like the story. Don't get how you can think the game play is good though.
Pretty similar to Witcher 3 in terms of blandness.
>but I like the story
its FF Lightning Returns story.
Its Persona's story.
the big bad was really really hackneyed and not interesting at all. the ONLY reason to keep watching is to see it through the end that Clive and Joshua make it through and get a happy ending. ehh....maybe Dion too.
Its painfully average
I don't think I hate it, I'll just completely forget this game exists in a month and I think most people will too.
FF16 is going through a serious honeymoon phase. I think once people start NG+, everyone will start to realize how shallow the game really is. At least Witcher 3 can fall back on its expansive world and characters. No one will remember any character in FFXVI other than Cid.
>Honeymoon phase
>People are non-stop bashing it
>People who are saying they're enjoying it end up getting bashed by other posters
Go frick yourself.
You literally just stand around waiting for things to die. It's the most boring fricking thing I have ever played.
>hurr durr don't play on easy mode
Frick off. They changed Final Fantasy into an action game and then didn't playtest the "easy" mode to make sure that people who weren't interested in playing an action game would still at least be having fun. You can't make an entire game mode un-fun and then smugly go "oh, well you shouldn't have picked easy mode."
you shouldn't have picked easy mode. no matter what game you're playing.
all easy mode shitters always *deserve* the de facto worst experience any game has to offer and nothing more.
It's genuinely boring. Not "lmao lol kek this gaem so boring" boring, it's actually poorly paced and padded out.
If XVI had been Stranger of Paradise and only 16 hours long, it would be a 9/10.
MMO devs = MMO quality
Shut the frick up Barry we're talking about the game here.
I am not Barry and the following equation:
MMO devs = MMO quality = Do not Play
Answers all discussion about the game. It's as simple as this.
I do not feel bad for those who ignored the equation, it is only their fault, as I informed the board of this long ago.
XI and XIV are two of the best in the series. Barry-tier opinion invalidated.
XI is god tier and one of the deepest MMOs that completely filtered casuals like it was it's job.
XIV is theme park garbage with gutted stats, worthless gear outside of glamour/transmog, and a quest loop that would give Ambien a run for it's money on the sleeping pill market.
Yoshi P is a hack who slapped an FF skin on top of a WoW skeleton and you goons will drop to your knees and suck him off on the spot for it.
>it's actually poorly paced and padded out.
Like literally ever other Final Fantasy title in existence then. All these games are filled to the brim with unnecessary time-wasting bullshit.
Look at the set pieces of VII, VIII and VI versus XVI to get a feel for it.
Kill all SoPgays. Behead all SoPgays.
unplayable framerate
You can find so much wrong with the story in the early hours and I'm only 10 hours in. I shudder to think of what the frick the other 30 will bring.
Shallow combat
Weak exploration
Not an rpg
No party members
Underdeveloped characters
Some people aren't into GoT
>It's too edgy
>no black people
>it's worse than Forspoken and FFXV cuz I say so despite reviews saying otherwise
just to name a few
gay
moronic
bad
>no israelites
>no blacks
>no gay romance
Honestly just a horrible game barry was right
It's not on PC.
FFXV is the best fishing simulator I’ve ever played—not for its realism but just for the creativity and variety behind the design and locations. Does FFXVI have fishing like this?
not final fantasy, if i wanted asura's wrath i would've bought asura's wrath. Also ff is now dead (if rebirth doesnt sell more.) Seems like Nomura had very little influence on the game despite repeated "hooded man speaks with no words" appearances. If any shills in the thread have a connection to square please make sure to tell them it's not final fantasy and it also isn't high art, their westernized backwash of a game will stain the series going forward for all time as the new xiii and i will NOT buy the dlc i will NOT buy the steam superpack edition I will NOT coom to ANY of the characters. 1 MOOGLE???? 0 CACTUAR????? what a sick joke.
Mesmerize > wicked wheel > upheaval
I dropped it after I got to thr desert map and the quest to get there was mmo tier talk to 15 people before departing then talk to another 9 people before a very easy mob of enemies then talk to another 6 people.
I tried to get into ff14 and it suffered the exact same problem... Where's the fricking GAME.
I spent 40 hours in that peice of shit and nearly all of it was walk/teleport to talk to someone then go to someone else then go again to someone else.
>I spent 40 hours in that peice of shit
MMO is different. For XIV, the completion time is 500 hours. That equates the first 40 to the tutorial.
it takes you 500 hours to get to the first 40 levels? are you mentally deficient, anon?
The first 40 hours of an MMO are the tutorial.
nah I just read it wrong. my bad.
I think he meant overall. I got to the segment In between the first game and the patch that lines up the first dlc before I couldn't bare it any more.
Other things I hate about ff16 is the world isn't that large yet entirely empty. There's no reason to ever explore because you only pick up legitimately useless crafting material.
You will have 489 peices of grass or feathers or whatever the frick it is and you kill one of the 8 elkions or whatever and guess what the reward is? 10 more fricking crafting materials.
There's no one out in the world actually doing anything or any other reason to visit areas until maybe a sidequest takes you there because the enemy will only spawn if it's one of the ten enemies part of a hunting board quest.
There's no items to spend any money on except for songs for your home base that cost 40k each and I'm what 50 percent through and played the whole game with the extra gil charm and only have like 100k and haven't spent more than 20 surely.
Most side quests are laughable especially at the start of the game... I really wanted to enjoy this game. I really loved the start of ff15 until it shit the bed and got dark and linear. I also enjoyed ff7r and even crisis core reunion a fricking psp game has better combat and pacing than 16. Highly disappointed
homosexuality is a mental disorder and people who create homosexual propaganda need to be shot
don't blame the game because of your urges to blow dick, dude.
bot reply or ESL moron?
I think I understand the story but there is still something I don't know. How did the grocer know his daughter had been stealing off to the vineyard to see the lad?
Yes but it's forced hate
too many white people
>hallway simulation
>no puzzles
>no minigames
>no real sidequests
>every battle plays out the same way (dodge, stagger, hit, repeat)
>story is FFXII tier boring
>meanders around and pads things out needlessly
>few female characters
>kills off one of the best female characters early
I will always shit on pozzed games
Gayer than XV so by extension it becomes one of the worst FF titles
Anon, I think the most damning thing is a lot of people don't hate it, they just think it's mediocre.
It's not a terrible game or anything. It's not even a nearly-great game with infuriating flaws. It's just an irredeemably boring non-entity that walks the line of mediocrity from start to finish, and it doesn't understand Final Fantasy at all.
Being a boring game is a worse crime than being a bad game.
People hate the game because they are Final Fantasy fans, and the developer, Square Enix, changed what Final Fantasy is to not include the things they enjoy the series for.
It is like that time when Capcom changed Resident Evil to not be horror anymore. (only Square Enix probably won't change it back again)
i do not care for clive's default outfit. looks really homosexual. i can't believe his dad wore that unironically
>cape hoodie
>v neck into the chest
>sword scabbard is on the right shoulder even though he's right handed
>nomura belts
>le edgy black and red color scheme
>kneecap armor that stops at his crotch
WHO DESIGNED THIS
From what I seen fujos fricking love it
XVI's writing is so amateurish. These are some of the best people in the industry, what the frick are they doing?
>people
/v/irgins aren’t people and the game is selling great so who cares what the terminally online asocial schizoaffective dorks say on 4chins
What do you gain from sales?
>post yfw you're not Barry
when do the shit xiv tier side quests end? someone told me i was "baiting" because i mentioned it in another thread
https://streamable.com/cqvdpu
didn't read
That’s why you can’t find any
So that's a no then? There's exactly two decent side quests pre-timeskip and that's because they actually tell a story through the quest. The rest are like this, do some inane bullshit then sit though 5 minutes of exposition or lore dump
nice try barry
calling everyone single person you disagree with barry is how he becomes this boogeyman in every thread btw. he's obviously here somewhere but if you think me calling the terrible sidequests xiv tier is some crazy opinion you are the problem. this quest literally made me talk to 2 literal whos and then report back to the npc that gave me the quest. i quit xiv early on for this reason
i flipped a coin
They don’t hate it, it’s just nobodies playing it. It came out when Diablo 4 and TotK came out, the two strongest GotY contenders
LIRIK is a good representative of normie opinions. He likes the game, therefore it is probably being well received by other normies too.
maybe, but for the record he loved XV and his viewership is tanking during XVI streams
because his viewership does not care about one specific game. they want to see variety. if he sticks to one game his viewership always drops.
>but for the record he loved XV
despite XV being...less than favorable it still sold really well didn't it?
Wait for him to get to a 90 minute Mid quest of dogshit or when he gets to finding the missing traders pass. The big moments are inbetween pace-killing filler. You can have slow moments, just make it interesting and built apart of the story.
"hate" is a strong word
It just doesn't look appealing to me, and that's coming from someone who enjoyed FFT and Vagrant Story a lot. I was watching some playthroughs and I honestly got bored around Liquid Flame fight or so, and expecting me to drop $400-500 on PS5 and $70 on FFXVI is crazy. Then again, I've never played FF games past XII (vanilla one, game disappointed me too much to not play either of Zodiac versions) so it's not like XVI is an exception in my case.
Man it really goes from meh to bad real fast after benedikta
Benedikta's plot isn't even strung out properly.
The prologue and the Wyvern Corps setup is great.
FF fans don't even like FF. What the frick does "it's not a FF game" even mean? Isn't that a good thing?
Not gonna play your troony mmofantasy mmo-kek
Kick dirt.
>What the frick does "it's not a FF game" even mean?
>muh turn-based (ATB Active isn't turn based...)
>muh RPG systems (Only VIII and V have in-depth systems)
>muh FFX cutscenes
>muh Eyes On Me
thanks barry.
like fine wine
>muh turn-based (ATB Active isn't turn based...)
Are they or are they not still taking turns?
>muh RPG systems (Only VIII and V have in-depth systems)
2 has a stat leveling system, 3 has a proto-5 job system, 4 makes equipment relatively scarce and quite important, 6 has an Esper system, 7 has a materia system, 9 has you learning skills from equipment, 10 has the sphere grid, 12 has the license board (which sucked to be honest)
And they don't have to be "in depth" to not be completely shallow and pointless
I think you are being disingenuous, like almost everyone who uses a variation of this argument
Because it's really popular, and because it's getting positive reviews and coverage. So of course the sour Gankerirgins will be upset because they are desperate to drag everyone down to the gutter level where they exist. Same thing has happened to every single big video game in recent years. Zelda, GoW, TLOU etc.
>get to phoenix gate
>the ruins are actually an alien command center
at some point japan has to try something new with story telling...right?
it can't always just be "dey wuz ayyyliens the entire time'...right????
How come nobody is addressing the obvious elephant in the room with FF16; it's PS5 exclusivity really harmed it and any real discussion of it is almost impossible.
PS5 exclusivity just means no one here has played it, but that's par for the course when it comes to Ganker and people claiming to have "legitimite critcism". They find the most popular talking points that validate their precious fee-fees and parrot them on here. Some of the shitposers are honestly more fragile than the twitter crowd.
Having only watched the demo since i dont own a PS5 either, i think the game looks like a nice movie.
>heh all these legitimate criticisms dont count cause only to the fans and I have PS5s
Nice cope, its hilarious how fast you guys are going thru the Barry tier behaviors for your game.
I will let you in on a secret. Most Final Fantasy fans do not like Final Fantasy. They only like the cult like hivemind it provides.
Secret here: I like FFXVI
NOOOOO NOOOOOO
Same, it's been awesome so far
No you dont
pozzed
story is a mess
ending is shit
pacing is ass
too many QTEs
no exploration or RPG elements
the only redeemable things are the music and visuals
everything else ranges from absolute shit to average
even the visuals are questionable, it's proficient and reasonably pretty in parts but the visual design is exceptionally boring
Music is repetetive shit you dont get cool personal boss music besides titan lost and barney
FFX - First FF game. Enjoyed it
FF11 - I don't play MMOs
FF13 - Second FF game. Enjoyed it
FF14 - I don't play troony MMOs
FF15 - Liked it but the first release was pretty bad
FF16 - Like it so far and it's just getting better and better
I like video games. Simple as.
Hate? It's too bland for that.
I love it so far and i'm barely halfway through.
Because it's "Meh"
I'm about a quarter of the way in, hating this game. I just spoiled myself and confirmed I have nothing to look forward to. I'm dropping it now.
You know, I avoided Ganker the week leading up, because I was afraid of spoilers. I honestly didn't need to bother, because there's nothing to spoiler. Nothing happens in this game. There are no plot twists. There's nothing interesting or personal going on. These characters are all two dimensional and surface level.
But don't you remember "I'll fricking kill you!"?
>MAD BECAUSE BAD THING HAPPENED
is not characterization. It's not saying anything about the character. If there were actually some tension between the brothers—if Clive did resent or feel jealous of Joshua on some level—that would have been something. But it's just
>classism bad
>expansionism bad
>polluting the land bad
Starfield will crush XVI and Baldurs Gate 3 will crush both.
It’s an MMO with passable(but shallow) combat and virtually zero RPG mechanics
We have really come full circle with Final Fantasy games. Now they are not RPG’s at all. They really should have left the numbering out of the title and made this an offshoot
>passable(but shallow) combat
If you think the combat is shallow then you're shit at it.
Simple as
DOES ANYONE HAVE THAT GIF OF VERGIL TELLING BARRY IT'S PAST HIS BED TIME?
>we want an rpg!
rpgs don't sell
would you be okay buying square enix rpgs if they sold them for 100 dollars per game? you could get whatever shitty rpg you want and se wouldn't call every game a financial disaster 🙂
i don't hate it but was very disappointed by it, it reminds me of Revengeance expect with a shallower combat system and far too long for its own good, RPG elements are non existent and the exploration is worthless.
>This thread
>Most of it is people acknowledging this game is garbage
>Mfw
BASED.
Shut up. I'm not happy the game is bad. This is the biggest disappointment in two decades. I truly and honestly thought Yoshi-P was going to save this franchise. I don't know how he could have let this happen.
people like you say this about every single game
the truth is you will never be happy
do something besides b***hing about every new game that comes out
>the truth is you will never be happy
I'm happy playing XIV. It's literally the best Final Fantasy game since X, and ShB rivals any game in the franchise in terms of presentation and story.
XVI is a bad game. I suspected going in the story would be mediocre, but what I didn't expect was how stripped down the gameplay would be. It's literally just the same fights over and over again with no other content whatsoever.
>It's literally just the same fights over and over again with no other content whatsoever.
You can say that blanket statement about literally any other game.
XIV, a fricking MMO, has more variety in combat. Maybe not for mob fights, but definitely for boss battles and raids, where you have to memorize mechanics and work as a team. XVI, meanwhile, is just timing your R1, using your specials to deplete the stagger gauge, then tapping square.
>XVI, meanwhile, is just timing your R1, using your specials to deplete the stagger gauge, then tapping square.
Ah, so you didn't play the game.
Utterly disingenuous post.
You act like you don't have to learn the boss attacks in the middle of that. Or even acknowledge that there's counters and movement options in the game.
Also
>Tapping square
Literally the only reason why the game shows stagger damage at the end is so morons like you would be incentivized into making better combos.
>You act like you don't have to learn the boss attacks in the middle of that.
Because you don't. Because R1 is a catch-all for every mechanic.
>You act like you don't have to learn the boss attacks in the middle of that
Lol because you don't.
>pop a stoneskin tonic
>rush in
>use gouge
>get them down to half stagger
>use Garuda yoink
>whirlwind
>body slam
>one more attack
>STAGGERED
>Go super saiyan
>slap the frick out of them
>stagger ends
>use gouge
>yoink
>whirlwind
>etc
I barely dodged in this game because being a maniacal tank worked just fine.
>Take HRT. We MTF now
XVI literally has gayshit in it. There's nothing like that in XIV.
You were warned.
How is it the biggest disappointment in two decades? What a lying little israelite rat you are. You haven’t played it so shut the frick up. Go back to playing some pixelated indie shit on your high-end PC, cuck.
>How is it the biggest disappointment in two decades?
Because Yoshi-P made it, idiot. XIII is arguably worse, but no one expected that to be good, because XII was mediocre. But anyone who played XIV really thought that XVI would be 10/10 based on the simple fact that it was Creative Business Unit III
Uh anon, your falseflag is showing.
Seconded. XIV is so good at its high points.
XVI honestly feels like I'm playing XV again with the whole Versus XIII thing precluding it.
Todd hired bots to shitpost about FF16 and new zelda game.
>did some sidequest to help two brothers clear a bandit nest
>later stumble into an unmarked convo between these two guys talking about a pair of brothers tricking people killing bandits so they can steal the loot
cool
you can hate the game but give whoever made the fire effects/sfx a raise
DOES ANYONE HAVE THAT GIF OF VERGIL TELLING BARRY IT'S PAST HIS BED TIME?
THANK YOU
who the frick is barry
It feels like people ask this question to derail 16 threads
Australian pajeet who watches troony porn and shitposts on every single website imaginable, 16 hours a day about Final Fantasy XV.
The game suffers from a cliché story that has been overused and a disappointing ending. The characters are bland with nonsensical motivations, and the gameplay feels repetitive and shallow. There is a lack of enemy variety and the side-quests are uninteresting. Exploration is virtually non-existent, leaving big, simplistic areas devoid of activities. Boss fights drag on for too long without offering much challenge, and the reused set pieces have lost their excitement and surprise. It's a constant bombardment of fighting giant monsters and unleashing world-ending attacks, which diminishes the thrill.
>the combat is shallow
What's a game with combat that isn't shallow? I'd like to know what these people are comparing it to in order to have this opinion
kh3 (remind)
kh2fm
The combat itself isn't shallow. It's great.
When it's paired with the enemy health bars, enemy variety, level design and enemy placement it becomes a chore.
>What's a game with combat that isn't shallow?
Final Fantasy XVI
Whatever they had fun with so that automatically makes it "more complex"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHQAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHHAH
DMC3/4/5, KH2, God Hand, Dragon Dogma. the problem with FF16 is that you have a basic boring main combo and just spam skills, there is no incentive to do anything else, the stagger bar is just annoying, there is no difference whatsoever between swords besides +* damage, no elemental damage. FFXVI is not bad but after finish it once and starting final fantasy mode( which barely changes anything besides new enemy placement in a few places and enemies are bigger sponges, so I dropped it after titan), I will not touch this game again for quite a while unlike DMC3/4/5, KH2, God Hand or Dragon Dogma which I can replay once a year for the combat alone.
>DD
>not shallow
Bruh
Playing DD as assassin is very different from playing as a MK, Warrior, mage or archer, sure you don't get the many DMC combos but there is still a lot variation and depth.
FFXVI just a action game, the rpg stuff in it is worthless, which is completely fine by me if it had depth and variation not just between weapons but enemies and mechanics. You fanboys may not like this but FFXVI is a good solid 8.5/10game, but no masterpiece or GOTY contender( which i prayed would be because i don't want some glorified DLC to win), its the kind of one and done game, I just expected a lot more from it.
You didnt say anything about RPG mechanics, you were saying the combat was shallow. You were then given a reason for why saying that is stupid and your immediate response is to call people "fanboys". Try again.
>your immediate response is to call people "fanboys"
lol just like yours is to call anyone that dares to criticize FFXVI Barry.
Playing DD as a Strider isn't much different from an Assassin and you still basically have no depth. Simple additions, like simple additions to FF16, could go a long way though. Like hold square, hold triangle, triangle being a real finisher, Square+X moves. Actual launcher that you don't need to use a shield for
Variation, yes. Depth? No.
How the frick do you say
> problem with FF16 is that you have a basic boring main combo and just spam skills, there is no incentive to do anything else
but then list Dogma right before that. You have even less basic stuff in Dogma, and most skills are pretty lackluster
Not only that but even KH2 and I love every single KH game there is and their combat does not compare to XVI. It's posts like these that really make me believe there is just a hate campaign going for XVI and for what? Cause you hate Yoshi P that much or something? Also there are people that legitimately have no problem calling Nier an rpg but it's suddenly difficult for XVI? It's so dumb
> I love every single KH game there is and their combat does not compare to XVI.
This seems laughable to me, so let me ask you: why?
Because other than the data battles where it's just memorizing when to block. You are mostly just hitting attack over and over with the occasional badass command. Magic is limited to like four shots at most. You are no where near as limited in XVI
Thanks for elaborating. Hitting stuff with KH's combo strings is much more engaging for me than FF16's puny and ineffective sword swipes. And I'd much rather have limited MP than deal with obnoxious cooldowns.
FF16 combat does have some cool shit in it but it's too easy, streamlined and damage-spongy to make the leap from tedious to fun. Too heavily based on stagger and MMO-like rotations.
The only cooldowns that feel slow are the last abilities for each eikon which I guess serves as their sort of super move. All the other abilities seem to charge up fast especially when you have to cycle through 3 eikons. But that isn't everything to the combat. You can topple enemies once they're half staggered with deadly embrace which isn't a cool down move. And it's better to use magic bursts after every melee hit. And using stinger to parry. Idk I just feel like it gives me a lot of satisfying options before I need to get into the meat of the combat which are the cool down moves
You could've shortened down all that to " prefer my FF not play as an arpg"
I would be very interested in an XVI where the cast are essentially 4 very well developed pawns from DD. You could have them casting the Eikonic Abilities on a hotkey as well. AFAIK after playing the game it seems the skills don't even need to come from Clive.
The incentive to do things other than your basic combo is
>get higher score/combo damage
>looks cool
>enemies die faster
FF16 has a low skill floor, it's fine if you don't like that but it also doesn't mean the combat is shallow. It's as easy as you want it to be. If you would rather intentionally make the combat slow, boring and easy then that's of course your perogative, but why complain about it? I really, really don't understand this mindset. It's the same as the people who equip the cheat rings and then whine about combat being too easy.
Honestly all it really needs is better rewards. Find armor and weapons in chests type of shit. Music is perfect, landscapes are gorgeous, the women are cute or hot, story is mostly good, side quests start off simple and get better. Like I said all it needs is better rewards for exploring
The relentless amounts of shitposting and falseflagging in every thread should tell you that it's a must-play game.
>let me just strawman so I have an argument
>y-you're just like Barry
I can't think of a worse type of poster on this website
>I can't think of a worse type of poster on this website
The ones who scream Barry at evey bit of criticism and completely killing any genuine discussion because the game in question is their entire personality just like XV is Barry's personality. Thats the worst kind of poster.
There is no genuine criticism or discussion, it’s all shitposting envious homosexuals that are upset they can’t play the game.
Genuinely dishonest post
But that doesn't happen, looking up 10 posts above yours there's already a few bits of genuine criticism being discussed without someone screeching Barry. Maybe if people stopped being so disingenious all the time threads on this website wouldnt be so shit, but what do I know.
>Game turns into Asura's Wrath after the halfway point
Game is kino now
Not to be a prude but the amount of swearing in this game is very Reddit-core. How many times can we fit frick into a sentence since we're an 18+ game now?!?
there was nothing to do except swear all day back in the middle ages
It's tacky.
People will argue back that that sort of stance it prudish, but the problem is you can't draw a line on its use.
For example.
>I'LL FRICKING KILL YOU YOU MOTHERFRICKING c**t I'LL RIP YOUR c**t EYES FROM YOUR FRICKING HEAD YOU MOTHERLESS FRICK
>I'LL FRICKING KILL YOU YOU MOTHERFRICKING c**t I'LL RIP YOUR c**t EYES FROM YOUR FRICKING HEAD YOU MOTHERLESS FRICK
When is this line used in the game
It's hit and miss, some scenes handles it very well. Other times it feels like they put it in there just because they could, rather than opting for a more natural response. For example people making fun of the
>frick frick frick frick frick frick
scene by Biast never made sense to me, since it sounds natural and it works for what's happening. It's just very disingenous and hard to filter the shitposting from people who are actually wanting to have a normal discussion about it.
The only time it's felt that way is when cid saves Clive from those iron blood dudes and all he says is frick, frick and then benedikta immediately follows with calling cid a fricking snake. Every other usage has been normal
This.
I really hate how American games always have so much SWEARING. same with Forespoken. Stop FRICKING swearing, please. It doesn't make you an adult. it makes you look very childish.
>inb4 it's japanese game
Square Enix is no longer Japanese.
Story and characters are close to being good but the game keeps trying to have big, impactful character moments and story beats without putting in the legwork to make me give a shit. Essentially what's missing are the smaller character moments that get you attached to anyone, I basically only give a shit about Cid.
This but the problem is specifically the Dominants. Its weird that NPCs like Gav or Uncle Rosfield are better written than Barnabas
>This but the problem is specifically the Dominants
What even are the dominants how do they get their power? How do they pass it on? What ceremonial lore happens during either?
Frick me, this fricking game. Oh I guess Ifrit punches everyone so it's fine.
>how do they get their power?
They're born with it. It's why they make a huge deal in the prologue out of Joshua being the Phoenix unlike Clive who, despite being the firstborn, isn't.
>How do they pass it on
It's probably random since I would assume it could skip entire generations, etc. like how it was implied that Joshua was the first Phoenix in a long time since both Clive and his Dad didn't have it.
Clive's dad didn't get it because his own father was the previous Phoenix. The Rosfields apparently being the only ones to keep their Eikon within the family is something I don't understand about the world, because the other Dominants seem to be just random people. If these things can be passed down through blood, why haven't other families held on to that kind of power?
We aren’t told. What about Jill? Every Eikon is just played off.
It might skip generations. Dion's father only became emperor after Dion awoke as Bahamut, and his mother was a prostitute. So his father could have been like third for the throne but catapulted to the top because of this. Far enough down, it might be hard to keep it in the bloodline when a random prostitutes son becomes a dominant but is apart of some other family who now can just become nobles
It's not just about keeping it within a specific bloodline, but keeping track of who can potentially awaken as the next one. Seems weird that nobody is paying attention to that.
Its all very underexplained but I think its fine. I wouldn't be surprised if there was gaps between dominants awakening. Like when Cid dies, is after the 5 year time skip getting us a 5 year old Ramuh running around?
I took it to be the case that anyone who has blood ties to a previous dominant has the potential to awake as one, so it could be a Genghis Khan situation where the other dominants spread their proverbial seed too much and it became impossible to control.
Maybe the eikons have a will of their own or something and the phoenix just kinda chooses to be with that family.
I feel like the marketing should not have focused so much on them because the majority of them are hardly relevant. There should have been more about the slavery and eco terrorist storylines since they're actually what the game is about moment to moment, and you get to know the characters in the hideaway much better.
Exsctly, if anything the eikons are relevant. If you dont shove in ny face the dominants all the time, whatwver you show me about them will be a nice surprise. But if you keep acting as if they are all the main focus of the plot, I expect more
>I basically only give a shit about Cid
He's the only character with any characterization and witty dialogue.
Jill isn't playful, she doesn't play off Clive.
Clive just grunts.
Joshua does the same.
Hugo is an oaf.
Benedikta says frick.
Barnabas is European.
I hope hackers find a way to extract contents from this game
I would like those nude models...and Clive's weapons.
What eikon abillities do you like to use?
>Lightning rod down
>wisps
>Ignition into the rod+enemy who body blocks me
Just procs the rod nonstop. Cleans out stagger and also does good health damage if it persists. Taunt to get enemies near the rod if they somehow frick off
Ignition seems like its overtuned. Does insane damage to regular mobs, vacuums them around, movement skill built in
my guy
Counter ones
Thunderstorm
Charged attacks + Sic + Phoenix shifting all over the place, basic but satisfying
I still have to try Shiva, Bahamut and Odin
Zantetsuken is pure kino
Pheonix is Rising Flames and Magic Counter. Rising is simply fast with decent damage and a short CD and when upgraded has extra damage ticks for multiplier stacking, Magic Counter has great ranged AoE that hits way more shit than it should and when you actually do get to counter magic it's 11/10 damage and stagger with a short CD.
Garuda is upgraded (faster) Gouge for multiplier stacking and sometimes stagger stacking for hard to stagger frickers after a half stagger + garuda pull. I used to use the physical garuda counter but have since mastered the Titan counter ability and slotted that into Garuda instead. It's objectively better in my eyes and it too has a shortened CD (not as fast as Garudas I think) when you actually counter shit. It's also good damage when you can't counter stuff too.
Titan, uhhhh whatever that charge attack on the left is called and the bottom super. I really liked Ramuh's single target super but Titan's seems to deal comparable damage (and is cheaper so you can upgrade it too) while also being frickhuge AoE.
Mastered the Charged attacks so you can dash, release square, wait, release triangle, then dash for a high juggled enemy then slap 2 times before drop slashing them into the ground because it deals more damage if it's "connected" and dragging them down as opposed to finishing an aerial combo then drop slashing, if you hold square while going downward you can immediately charged attack then dash for a mortal blow on the ground. It's generally my opener for everything smallish.
I've effectively slaughtered every single zone's enemies when I first arrived and once NMs start spawning exploring any new area while slaughtering everything will usually lead you to 1-2 NM encounters. Better than having to frick about with the moogle, which you will have to do for like the first 8+ because they're all in "old" areas.
There's really only 2 camps, the people who love the gameplay and annhilate everything and the MSQ route only nerds.
>Mastered the Charged attacks so you can dash, release square, wait, release triangle, then dash for a high juggled enemy then slap 2 times before drop slashing them into the ground
Or Garuda's embrace/stomp then release another charged magic attack then Torgal's Sic to make them go even higher, then another dash and then you go downwards
Who is the best character and why is it Byron? I wish there were more scenes like this.
>the fight vs shadow clive
HOLY
KINO
>caer norvent all the way till Garuda's eikon fight
>phoenix gate and shadow Clive
>Drake's head and Typhon
Im really enjoying the "dungeons" and the boss fights
Why are FFXIV and XVI fans so hostile to criticism?
>reddit screencap
Because right now 99% of the criticism is falseflagging shitposters like yourself just trying to cause drama.
Got em
I wonder if they do even realise how obvious their false flag is.
>99% of the criticism is falseflagging shitposters like yourself just trying to cause drama
This just screams "Dont diss my game". The reality is just like XIV the community here, which is made primarily of XIV players, is allergic to criticism to the point that a thread could have 80 IPs and several instances of proper critique and it would all be met with "BARRY THREAD" or "Way to make yourself obvious Barry". You morons never wanted genuine discussions, you just wanted constant praise. I mean jesus christ look at the response to SkillUp now that his praise of the demo turned into slight disappointment upon the game's release. All this schizo shit that he's out to get Yoshi because of a review they didn't like. And this isnt new, this is like the 4th or 5th instance of this behavior.
>I mean jesus christ look at the response to SkillUp
Watch it! They don't like to be called out, they'll deny it like what they did to Scottzone!
Don't forget Limit Break Radio, WorktoGame and LazyPeon.
>XIV critique on Ganker
>Lol mmo bad
Notice how they don’t shit in XI, which is just as good as XIV.
>Notice how they don’t shit in XI
A dead MMO? The one that even its own players say to either play Private or look elsewhere? Also who cares about what people think about XI if the topic is another game. That's like entering a Zelda thread and going "but what about Spiderman huh?"
Marketers also have to keep the barry schizo shit up to hit their KPIs. It's honestly fricking sad
There deserves to be backlash about SE marketing this game in a very underhanded way too. Like Yoshida saying "It isn't open world, but it isn't linear either" while showing semi open areas in trailers. Turns out it's linear and you warp around the map, and there's no interesting items to find in the world so no point exploring. Another one was "yeah we really wanted to cut an Eikon but it was too much work" to muddy the waters about Leviathan instead of admitting he was cut. Oh and the joke of "we'll reveal more RPG elements soon at our next panel" LOL. All smoke and mirrors
>Lets make yet another strawman
YOU are the homosexual who never tries having a genuine discussion. YOU want people to validate your shitty opinion and if they don't it's a "cult" or "trannies" or whatever other buzzword you've come up with. Frick off you disingeious, lying homosexual.
>and if they don't it's a "cult" or "trannies" or whatever other buzzword you've come up with
Projecting much?
Yes, your entire post was projecting.
>dont call out bad behaviors
>y-you just want to use buzzwords
Youre the only one using them friend
Are we actually going to pretend what he said isnt true? I guess its back to calling everyone Bazzy.
There are plenty of posts IN THIS VERY THREAD that proves the opposite of what he said. Your insistence to always single out a few shitposts and claim that's representative of the people you're debating is why you will never, ever have an unbiased discussion.
There is a very sad contingent on this board that can never tolerate any critcism of what they like, and so always have to paint the people giving said criticism as dishonest trolls or screaming manbabies, and I just can't help wondering, why the frick are you so incapable of hearing anything slightly negative without losing your shit? Get a grip, dude.
You can still like something even if other people don't. Unless the problem is that you don't really like it, you just successfully delude yourself into thinking you like it until someone points out a flaw you can't ignore. In which case you might as well just stay away from discussion altogether instead of shitting up the place whenever someone posts something that isn't unconditional praise.
The Ramuh sword looks like shit.
The mobs with a stagger meter are very fun to fight. Weaker mobs are too but those are really just about using your cool downs to erase 90% of their hp. With mobs that have a stagger meter it feels like you use everything at your disposal. Also adamantoise shells are hard and bounce off your sword. There you have your shitty rpg mechanics that you wanted
It feels like DmC: Devil May Cry all over again, what with their pandering to the west and claiming to be more 'mature'
western devs have a marketing budget and they need to keep spending it on superfluous shit or budgeting starts noticing that their AAA turd doesn't sell better beyond a certain set marketing "cap"
corporate control is less about being a team and more about climbing the ladder over everyone else until you're rich
This is also why creativity is specifically disallowed by execs who refuse to be held responsible for potential flops despite the company having the capital to absorb it, another company has to come up with the formula to follow first
Ganker hates new things
normies hate the lack of Black folk
Do people?
I don't see anyone even talking about it...
I'm not interested anyway. FF went to shit after 10.
Who wrote XVIs story?
>Who wrote XVIs story?
The guy responsible for The Last Remnant.
Takai is the director, not writer
Maehiro Kazutoyo, the guy who wrote ARR and base HW
>Reach Dhalmek village
>Walking by a bread shop that has an X inspect
>it's a sign that says "Once you go flat..."
Scandalous. Noice.
I watched Don't Look Up recently. I think that explains everything.
>reach the Oratory
>hear the music
Alright give me this but as a Castlevania, eikon abilities even reminded me a little of demon souls in Dawn of Sorrow, etc
It's the first final fantasy game I will play since FF10.
I got so tired of the generic weeb shit.
>I got so tired of the generic weeb shit.
Boy do I have news for you
The Barrylegions are rising up
literally every modern aaa game gets review bombed
>720 30 fps
Why would they lie about it?
>final fantasy fan
>hasn’t played the games in 20+ years after 10
the last one is complaining that he can't play the game
Yea just buy the console, no idea why these fake gamers only have one gaming platform
>xbox and starfield will destroy everything
Ominous
>narrative that game has failed
>8.8
?
Anything less than 100 is a fail to Barry-kun and his followers.
Barry, shills, schizos aside, here's how it goes.
>FFXVI is a good game
>best since XII
>however that's not a high bar
>CBU3's goal was to make a FF that could hang with VI, VII, IX, X, the ones generally agreed to be top 5
>instead, XVI is the best of the FF's declining era, not convincing others that FF is back and worth looking at
Taking on XVI was certainly not an envious task and it sucks to see it end up like this after years of hype and promises.
Damn you yoshida....giving us Fgays hope....
I won't lie, I had high expectations because I figured if they were trimming a lot from classic FF then it would make room for an ARPG but they kinds just didn't do much to fill in those gaps. They weren't as bold as they claimed to be.
Pretty much. There was some good steps in the right direction, but there was also so many damn missteps that come back to pacing and characters.
The game actually went too dark because there is no point where the characters can step back and take a break.
have a nice day Barry. XV lost.
If a game doesn’t make 90~94 it failed but it it makes more than 94 then it has paid reviews
isn't it weird how Cidolfus never tells you about his child and the she suddenly pops up for a boring ass fetching quest? hahah o crazyweee
That guy probably has a bunch of kids with several women.
You get a letter about it but no one reads that shit
Yes, its even an obvious one because the npc makes a lot of fuzz about "a letter for Cid is missing!... Oh, and food for the hideaway as well"
main girl is so irrelevant that she could be switched out for a dog and still, 50% of those scenes would not be affected
Turn based tards are too moronic to play KEK I knew it would happen. Action chads are eating once you can drop the KEKOLD ramuh for titan.
>get to the gay kiss
>its a 3 second kiss zoomed all the way the frick out
Why the frick did it get shitposted this much
I am convinced the only audience left for these games is late 30s autistics with brain injuries who bust a fat nut whenever they see a chocobo or Bahamut for the 5000th time as a pavlovian response.
idk.... something is missing. it's not as good of an action game as the action game mainstays like bayo or dmc or kh2. it doesn't even have as good a story as the latter two. at least the boss fights are 10/10, that's what the game stakes the entirety of its worth on and yeah, it kind of does prove itself there. the boss fights carry so much weight it's insane.
never had i thought we would see a game so carried by its boss fights but here it is.
I'll be replaying them multiple times in hard mode (arcade)
i usually see people saying good things
game's great just wish i could turn off motion blur
When the reviews came out and everyone said the stolen combat system was the highlight of the game and the story was mixed I knew it was going to be trash.
Dion should have had a hotter boyfriend.
Don't worry, the fujos will draw him choking on Barnabas dick
Terence is cute! It's hard to see them as a couple though. He has no discernible personality and Dion is way out of his league.
It'd be nice to know why Dion is into Terence, because now it just looks like Terence is a huge fanboy who is fiercely loyal to his prince, and Dion just takes advantage of that loyalty to get some bussy.
Not different of joshua romance and clive
What they showed of the relationship was kind of weird and unromantic even while it's trying to be tender. Maybe the lord-vassal dynamic just skeeves me out too much.
>It's not FF
>It's not DMC
>Over half of the main game is cutscene
>Walk 5 feet
>Cutscene
>Kill a single mob
>Cutscene
>Walk up to a door
>Hold R2 for 3 minutes to open it
This game was made for women
i don't understand what's the point of being put in a cutscene, it ends, then you can control your character and walk like 20 yards, just to be placed in another cutscene
like what's the point?
It's so they can tell you a story. Idk why they made a game though they should have just made a tv show or something.
>Walk 5 feet
>Cutscene
>Kill a single mob
>Cutscene
>Walk up to a door
>Hold R2 for 3 minutes to open it
>Get a cutscene
>Talk to someone
>Get a cutscene
>Scene fades to black
>Another cutscene happens after that one
You don't need to post it twice
I simply added onto it.
I'm up to the desert inn town, how much more of the game is there? I'm getting kind of burned out, the story right now feels like its spinning its wheels with this sidequest-tier stuff and I feel like I got cucked twice when there was no Ifrit section at Drake's Breath or Rosalith.
you're very close to an ifrit section
> Marketers and shills have to argue now with Barry's schizo rants about XV instead of innocent FF friends
Shills and marketers will be clearing Ganker in a matter of moments.
Why?
Pic related.
Bye shills.
it's all digital, ffxvi sold 9.3 billion copies
I’m sure all those chinks that scalped PS5s in their basement are downloading the digital copy as we speak
>Comparing physical copies from 10 years ago
Why doesn't he compare it to remake instead?
FF7Remake sold less in the UK than FFXV.
The number would be worse.
But the number would make more sense since the games are like 3 years apart from each other, XV is from a complete different era
If XVI sold around the same number of physical copies as remake did then you could say that the sales numbers are unusually low
It's comparison between the former mainline and the one just before it. Altough i agree, not really a fair comparison when XV was released last gen to 50+ million PS4s and the Xbox One and the PC 2 years later.
XV was multiplat tho so the numbers aren't really comparable
yeah man i bet the xbox version of FFXV made up for 75% of the sales in the UK
Why the frick would anyone buy a final fantasy games on Xbox
>Xbox doesn't matter
That argument only works in japan morons
I think that just cause 15 is actually the last mainline game. 7R is a remake of course
I can not fricking believe Barry won.
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/uk-charts-final-fantasy-vii-remake-is-no-1-as-boxed-market-grows-again
Sold even less than 7remake. And that game had the 'rona lockdown hampering physical distribution.
Because they say:
>T-there is no party!
Wade
Tyler
Murdoch
Torgal
Cid
Jill
Gav
Wade again
Byron
Theodore
Joshua
Dion (I think, about to do final endgame thing)
Then they say:
>B-but that doesn't count!
That's basically it.
Can you change and upgrade their equipment, have them learn abilities, command or control them in battles?
The combat is dope, but providing the added depth that'd come from being expected to manage multiple party members would add much more to its complexity.
>Can you change and upgrade their equipment, have them learn abilities, command or control them in battles?
No. They're basically the "Guest" characters from FFXII
Torgal gets upgrades the more you do hunts and story quests with him
i played the game, after reading this thread i feel like 90% of critic are from people who didn't play the game.
Does it constantly feed you cutscenes every 10 feet throughout the game or is that just for the first two hours?
Nah that the whole game. the 4 main problem the game have is
-pacing
-the final antagonist
-secondary characters are underdeveloped
-game is too ez
Still a fine game, way better than the garbage that 13 and 15 were.
It's a PS5 exclusive. 99% of their exposure to the game has been through youtube
Pretty much, I'm at the end myself.
Gotta love how the endgame of Xenoblade 3 was a massive ark in the center of the map called Origin and the endgame of this is a massive crystal in the center of the map called Origin also. Ha, Japan.
It's funny how both Ultima and Z are anti-will, old men, who are clearly allegories to people that want to ignore any realistic plan to deal with Global Warming and would rather use humanity as fuel to try and cease it's existence (blight/Annihilation Events). They also both happened to be voiced by Harry Lloyd.
Clive is Logos, and the MC of 3 gets Logos' power at the end too.
Also coincidentally, the endgame of both games fricking sucks and shits the bed hard.
>he thinks it's about le Global Warming and not the technological imperative/rape of the biosphere/Mammon
kek
>ps5 exclusive
This has been a really good thread to read, but I hope you homosexuals don’t flip your opinion and then call this game good once the “Royal Edition” comes out on Steam
>There's people ITT who unironically consider X-2, XIII-2 and LR main line games.
>These same people don't mention revenant wings, the after years or the FF7 compendium because it ruins their argument.
Lmao
Shame that there aren't extra weapons for you to use in xvi. I do think it's a missed opportunity not to have clive use a dragoon spear, cid's swords, and maybe a fists+boots weapon for punchy kicky stuff. Would've been fun to have those extra weapons function as the more traditional action game styled weapons with input related moves.
>that fight against 3 assassin dudes before Hugo
holy shit that was aids, worst fight in the entire game so far and I've been doing all the sidequests
I like it a lot. I like that side quests offer more characterization. I like the hunts providing more challenge. I wish there was a mini game or something like the one from ff8 though, how much more effort would that have taken. Frick takai, terrible choice for director
can you sales homosexual just die already, why on Ganker of all places. if you want to talk about that go on twitter.
It has really high highs that last about 30 minutes followed by really low lows that last about 2 to 3 hours even if you button mash your way through the pointless dislogue. For example
>Titan Lost boss fight
>10/10 kino edge of your seat action
Followed immediately by...
>Go to Hideaway
>tell 3 random NPCs that Hugo is dead
>literally have to walk back and forth just to tell these inert MMO stand-ins inconsequential bullshit
>now talk to Mid
>Cid's daughter btw, no mention of her beforehand, just randomly introduced as his kid
>now go talk to more NPCs
>now have to collect parts for her ship
>go to world map
>travel
>talk to more NPCs
>"let's buy some fricking biscuits!"
>go to 2 merchants
>buy biscuits
>run back to another NPC
>talk some more
It just goes on and on and on and the motherfrick on. It's awful. And while the combat is flashy, because all attacks effectively achieve the same thing there's no need to strategize or mix things up. Once you've developed a working combo, that combo WILL work for the entire game. You end up repeating the same moves for asiatics and bosses alike, trudging along until you get to the next part of the actual story or at the very least blessed with scenes from a kino characters like Uncle Byron or Dion.
There's a 10/10 game in here that lasts about 25 hours. There is 1/10 dogshit content that's thrown on top for no reason to make it 50 hours long.
>Cid's daughter btw, no mention of her beforehand
t. didn't play the game
Beat the game, homosexual, seethe all you like. It is thoroughly mediocre.
It's a sidequest in pre-timeskip that reveals it. The one with the courier who lost letters, where you find the letter for Cid (a dog in Lostwing has it). The courier tells you he has a daughter.
So again, you didn't play the game.
I still don't understand why seemingly important details are hidden in side quests. Clive's survival is more heavily hinted at because of side quests.
>I still don't understand why seemingly important details are hidden in side quests.
Taking cues from FFVIII
I did a side quests with a baker making a new bread and it got so popular that later on it showed up in the hideaway
it's not really an important detail though, knowing he has a daughter at that point in the game affects nothing. all it does it invalidate morons who act like its some sort of plot hole otherwise
>Beat the game
>Call it shit
>Oh yeah? But did you do one of these random shitty sidequests?
I had no idea an important character to the narrative would be revealed via sidequest. My bad, since I skipped those. I'll just add that to the pile of shit game design.
you mean the video you watched skipped it
>this delusion
Is this the XIV fanbase I hear so much about?
Next time, watch a youtube playthrough that actually includes gameplay.
> I had no idea an important character to the narrative would be revealed via sidequest. My bad, since I skipped those
Why play a game if you have no interest in exploring its contents? Unless you're just watching your le hecking favorite eceleb/streamer play this game cuz you're too poor to have a PS5 and are intend on spoiling yourself on the game
>Why play a game if you have no interest in exploring its contents?
Playing the story is exploring its content, dunce. With side content being present for if I want to explore more of it. Lo and behold, XVI has shitty content, and apparently keeps important information locked behind a sidequest. No thanks.
Not him, but maybe the content should actually be worth exploring? The side quests are excruciating.
I can tell you've never even played FF7 Remake or FFXV if you think these sidequests are 'shit'.
they're shit there as well
They are just as bad but xvi edges out only because the npcs don’t look as terrible
FFXV has unique optional dungeons at least, XVI's sidequests take place in the same shitty flat maps you have to traverse for the main quest.
Both have shit stories, but at least one offers unique dungeon crawling that you don't get in the main story. The best dungeons in XV are all optional. What is your favorite optional dungeon in XVI?
Bruh, FFXV had TWO TOWNS. TWO. With asset flip NPCs that walked around with no lore to tell or anything.
And your only 'sidequests' were ppl with their car broken at the side of the road. And let's not forget the riveting gas stations.
Yes, FFXV can be a 'comfy' game, and some of the dungeons are nice. But pls don't start this revisionist shit where you're going to pretend the game is 'good'. You're NOT going to do that. It's the worst FF game of all time bar none, and FFXVI shits on it in nearly every aspect. Your irrational hatred of DMC combat does not give you the right to pretend that these games even belong in the same universe as far as quality is concerned. You are objectively wrong.
XV >>>>> XVI
cope mmoBlack person
I didn't say any of the things you're attributing to me, zero, none. Now answer the actual point instead of your strawman.
More than one game can have excruciating side content
But no I haven't played FF7R yet
Gave up on FFXV early because of aforementioned shitness
Which youtube playthrough did you watch?
She's mentioned in a random side quest where all you do is go pick up shit some courrier dropped on the side of the road. You cannot blame anyone for missing
>It has really high highs that last about 30 minutes followed by really low lows that last about 2 to 3 hours
So FFXIV's story where most of the story sucks but you have your "That I cannot deny" moments that overshadow all that and become the whole story for people.
I haven't played XIV but yes, that's how I would describe it. When it's good, it's fantastic. But THOSE moments take so much monotonous legwork to get to that they don't justify the wait to achieve them. Just my opinion of course. I beat the game. I did like it. But the flaws aren't just annoying, they're mind numbingly boring. "Kill 5 Rats then talk to 10 NPCs" ad nauseum in spirit. I'd give the game a 7/10, 8 if I'm being a generous. With some 10/10 moments.
That every JRPG ever...why is FFXVI mentioned specificity when it come to this is surprising to me.
>Cid's daughter btw, no mention of her beforehand, just randomly introduced as his kid
?
ye, homosexuals go 'all sidequests are shit and trash, so I skip all of them', then they b***h when they miss crucial story beats or important details.
Just don't play the fricking game if you don't want to consume its contents, you fricking gays.
Yea some of the sidequests are great, sure some of them are meh but to say they are all bad is horrible.
https://streamable.com/lxfx7w
A ton of these sidequests indeed flesh out the NPCs. It seems these 'real FF fans' care for none of that and don't seem to give a shit about it. Which is weird since they talk so much about what constitutes a 'real RPG'. If I think back why I liked FF7 or Xenogears when they came out, it was talking to random NPCs in towns, figuring out they all had tidbits of lore you could explore, and getting rewarded for going on these sidequests.
Do 'real FF fans' really think that the turnbased combat was anything to write home about ? Frankly back in the day mostly everyone thought the combat was horrible and that it should be a 'real videogame', ppl just put up with it. Or at a certain point they just started escaping random encounters cuz it got so boring and you were overlevelled anyway. There was no strategy at all involved in ATB turn based FF.
I would like to point out that you can flesh out NPCs with side content without having that side content be MMO tier
Bruh don't play JRPGs then. They ALL have sidequests exactly like this.
Whether it's FF7R, Tales of Arise, Xenoblade, FFXV, you name it, this is usually the level of quality you're going to get. Stop misusing the term 'MMO', the proper three word acronym you're looking for is 'JRPG'. These are JRPG ass sidequests. I dunno how you can claim to be a fan of' traditional FF games' if these kinds of sidequests is what bothers you.
>Bruh
>Doesn't know anything about JRPG side quests
KEK
Those games were all "inspired" by MMORPGs which is why their sidequests suck shit like those do. Actual JRPG sidequests don't have fricking quest markers that spoonfeed you every little thing and they have sizable unique content.
Like?
The side content was directly ported over from FFXIV starting zones, where it exists to add a bit of flavor to a level grind, it's not actually compelling or meaningfully rewarding in any way and older FF games and older JRPGs in general did it way better
Trying to acquit FF16 by comparing it to other modern JRPGs isn't going to help, a lot of those suck too
XIV troony confirmed.
Fun fact, FFXV does not even have 1/10th the kind of lore on NPCs that this game does. In the TWO towns the game has, you maybe have a handful of 5 NPCs that actually 'exist' and have a name and some lore. In this game, nearly every town has some specific characters of interest and doing their sidequests fleshes them out as characters/individuals.
I don't see that talked about at all.
There's also a nice attention to detail where you can see some doing menial tasks and it's not like most JRPGs where it's just some NPC walking back and forth, some are carrying plywood, others are scrubbing the laundry, etc. It's pretty polished all around which you definitely didnt see to this extent in either FF7R or FFXV. But it seems most don't give a shit about it or don't even mention it, or just take it for granted. Weird.
I honestly can’t think of any npcs I would care about like I would for Otto or Quinten in FFXV
Decent worldbuilding in a bland world. wrapped up in bad writing and bad gameplay
>crucial story beats
>in side quests
Nice game design, is XIV this shitty too?
I still dont know who the frick is the mom
the worst part is that there's nothing exciting about getting the air ship since you just teleport across the map anyway
>there's no need to strategize or mix things up
there's a teensy eensy bit of strategy around making the most of staggers, like saving your good shit so it's not on cool down when a stagger starts, using fast attacks to build the multiplier and then ending with your strongest stuff to make the most of the multiplier. the problem is that the enemies are such damage sponges that optimal play just barely makes a fight go by slightly faster than if you didn't pay attention to any of this shit and just mashed
Oh I agree with you there, I mean strategize on the fly. You're right about timing cool downs, especially Garuda's, but once you figure that out it's essentially the same tactic that works from start to finish. This is my post right here and I beat the game doing exactly this on repeat
yeah definitely, the only difference between fights is length and whether they have QTEs, shit is mind numbing
I keep hearing about these "kino titan battles" or some shit. Can someone tell me, are these just "press x to awesome" spectacles, or actual good gameplay?
Average gameplay elevated by amazing spectacle and often times good music.
Depends, did you like Asuras Wrath ?
Yup its basically impossible to do some of the fights in the way they are depicted with actual gameplay.
A small amount of decent gameplay, then "press x to awesome" spectacles with really weird shit like damage numbers flying off the enemy during what is basically a way-too-long cutscene with repetitive and awkward choreography
>slams enemy into the ground
>enemy slides a bit
>5000 5000 5000 5000 5000
This sounds kinda lame...why are people hyping it as the best part of the game? Ive never played a ff game because it always looked like all style and no substance. This one unfortunately doesnt look any different
I haven't finished it yet, maybe it gets better. And admittedly I have a high bar for cutscene spectacle, it's really easy for it to just feel forced and over the top (in a boring way) to me.
But so far it's very awkward and, indeed, kinda lame
WAY too many white people and that is NOT. ALLOWED.
To the gay that said this was a dumbed down DMC with no real combo possibilities, I present to you this
Why don't you gays just STFU if you don't know what you're talking about eh?
you tell'em sis
not a single enemy that can be juggled would even survive half of this cooldown ability spam
On NG run maybe. Final Fantasy/Ultimania mode prob it will be very useful.
The game could have really benefited from being way fricking harder on a NG run. It is asking a fricking lot of ppl to run through a 30/40 hour epic a second time with remixed enemy encounters and buffed up difficulty skill. It's like Nier Automata's 'play the game 3 times' except without any new story parts.
Admittedly every DMC/Bayonetta game is like this where your first run is the 'tutorial' but there's a difference with doing that with a 10 hour game at best and this 30/40 hour long epic.
apologize to barry
I've been playing this for what feels like 20 hours now. Does the game actually grade your performance when just playing the game normally or is that strictly for the arcade mode?
>"we need the normie action audience" game overshadowed by remake of old as frick turn based square RPG
oh the irony, another win for turn BASED chads
It's Mario for manchild babies, you can sell anything to these nostalgia driven sad wastes of sperm. They shell out $70 for a 6 year in the making DLC and pretend it's the best game ever along with all the paid journo shills
The Culex fight is going to be so Ironic
>leveling only affects how much damage you take, barely affects how quickly you can kill damage sponge enemies
>damage sponge enemies mean you are constantly exhausting your entire arsenal of magic and combos making every single fight feel exactly the same
>overuse of magic is fatal in the story so it makes even less sense that you have to summon a tornado and 15 lightning bolts just to kill some random deer or chocobo
>god awful side quests
>main quest is very uneven, always doing either garbage filler or other the top boss fights with very little in between (meaning no good build up to the actual "epic" moments)
>for example you pretty much just walk up to the mother crystals after a short distance of walking and a couple fights even though these should be incredibly well guarded areas
>bearers being oppressed is moronic and shoved in your face to an insane degree in the first third of the game
i actually like the game but there is PLENTY to b***h about
>bearers being oppressed is moronic
people who can use magic should logically be the elites. them being turned into slaves who use magic to dry laundry and light campfires is hilarious to the point of parody. and then the fact that even their family voluntarily gives them up to be slaves is insane too.
it would be one thing if magic was shunned and they were treated as evil witches, but normal people use magic all the time, they just need crystals. not needing a crystal to do the same magic means that a mother would instantly hate and reject its newborn child is stupid to the point of feeling like parody
using magic is not impressive when any shmuck can do the exact same thing with a crystal that fits in their pocket. Only dominants have actual power worth a damn.
>people who can use magic should logically be the elites. them being turned into slaves who use magic to dry laundry and light campfires is hilarious to the point of parody. and then the fact that even their family voluntarily gives them up to be slaves is insane too.
It actually kind of makes sense to me. I think they needed the Bearers for actually important magic shit, but had to find a way to deal with the guilt over the damage it was doing to them, and the easiest way to do that was to gradually dehumanize them until they're little more than disposable objects
>bearers should be elites because they just should
It's like you ignored all the fleshing out of the society because it didn't fit your preconceived notions. Bearers aren't exceptional.
>didn't even read the rest of my post
moron. also the crystal shortages completely invalidate your point anyway
The "crystal shortages" are the kingdoms clutching onto the finite resource which creates a stronger incentive to enslave bearers.
persona 5 had 80 hours of text/cutscenes and 22 hours of gameplay.
Wy do you keep posting this youtuber hack that admitted to hating DMC5 and Bayonetta and called it 'button mashing weeb trash'? The most sophisticated and deepest combat systems ever in mankind and this moronic goblin that thinks Zelda is prob 'deep combat' thinks it's 'button mashy'. I bet this gay can't even pull off a 9 hit combo in DMC or get an S rank.
Frick off with your ecelebs. They are a cancer on gaming and do everything for clicks and money
>expect something like HW or even ARR
>get constant miseryporn with almost no build up for anything positive in the game, be it ebin anime fights or actual downtime
It's like they took the complaints about ARR and applied them to the wrong fricking game mid development. Why does Benedicta even show up in later cutscenes if they were just going to kill her off in less than 5 hours?
They wanted to be GoT. They even said as much, didn't they? So they just imitated its surface elements without really understanding it, and added some Attack on Titan elements without understanding that either
Also xenoblade unironically with the whoke ultima and platon shit of mythos and logos
It's a sony exclusive so pedos and PC fats hate it
Unironically my favorite series since forever. Seeing this flop would be very depressing.
FF players only want what has already been created in final fantasy with no new mechanics or people. Any attempt to create anything new results in frothing at the mouth pants shitting autism even if it's, like this game, a 10/10 execution.
The common themes ive seen so far are:
-No controllable party even though you can directly control Torgals actions.
-No customization even though there is an entire ability usage customizable skill tree.
-Flat characters even though this is the best VA'd most interesting characters that have ever been in any FF.
Anyone who brings up any of this stuff I immediately write off as being a moron and ignore them.
I'm the opposite. I did not like the game much because it is too similar to what Final Fantasy has always been. The story, more specifically. I'm so fricking tired of this story being told every single time.
It's indeed 100% autism by a fanbase as autistic and mentally stunted as Sonic and Star Wars fans.
Most of em really want nothing more out of FF fans than their coombait anime waifus like Tifa, Yuffie and Aerith and their fujo Sephiroth 'le epic villain' shit. Mentally arrested 8 year old losers that if it ain't anime, it's not Final Fantasy.
>branching dialog options means no two playthroughs are the same
It had no bearing at all on the story progression or what happened. False illusion of choice.
As was the entire game quite frankly. Open world with nothing to do in it and Unity store quality NPCs wandering about.
Ignoring all the FF talk for a bit I genuinely hate the "branching paths" meme. The only games where it worked are the very old CRPGs because the devs had time and resources to put most of it in to the story. These days it's always a dumb meme a la ME3 where your 'meaningful choices' resulted in 3 different colour variations of the same cutscene.
>thrilling titan fight that puts all the eikon battles to shame
I’ve beaten over half of the numbered ff entries and never played 14 and I like it a lot. Plot keeps escalating into ridiculous, slows down in between major beats to flesh out the world more, combat is fun and a good mix between dragons dogma and dmc, boss fights are best in the series. I’m honestly tired of jrpg “rpg” mechanics. Just needless menu scrolling that wastes my time.
