Wait, so ability learn order aside, choosing the staff gives me an extra MP (with magic being the most useful power in the game) and the shield unlocks a slot for gear that I couldn't get anywhere else... and the sword just gives me more attack?
Why would anyone informed pick the sword, then?
CRIME Shirt $21.68 |
Nothing Ever Happens Shirt $21.68 |
CRIME Shirt $21.68 |
Anyone informed also knows the game is easy enough that you do not need the extra crap. You already have like 10 MP at the end and 5 elixir slots... If you need more than that you need to start dodging more
>abuse superarmor
>"mom, i dodged sephiroths dm!!"
That's not super armor, that's 666 iframes
"The game is easy" is relative. "There are no Magic Boosts nor Slot Boosts here so you will lose a MP or a slot if you pick sword, which only gives you something you can replace with farmeable Power Boosts" is absolute and even a newbie gets the difference.
>minmaxxing in an RPG about disney characters
KH has items to raise your attack, defense, magic and ability points. But the first one doesn't have the item for magic.
>sword = more attack
>staff = more magic
>shield = more slots
You can always get more attack later, but not more magic nor item slots, so sword is a moronic pick.
Kh1 isn't a 200 hour game, so your build isn't that critical
>it doesn't matter!
>It's factually worse.
>ok but I don't care!
Conformist b***hes, just say you do a half assed job while playing
>>It's factually worse.
It factually isn't. The fact of the matter is that nerds and homosexuals who pick wand and shield need to grind for more attack. Meanwhile us pure attack chads already have more attack than you, and by the time you're finally ready to beat the game, we've already beaten the game 8 times consecutively because you're too scared to fight the final boss without capped out stats and gear.
>has to go all in on strawmen to even pretend he has a point
It's fine to pick Sword, but it is the worst choice as nothing it gives you is exclusive to it.
Also
>if you pick Staff you have to grind for attack
>when its entire purpose is being so absurdly strong it breaks the game in half
Try to pretend you've played the game
>but it is the worst choice as nothing it gives you is exclusive to it
It is the only choice the immediately gives you more damage.
>b-but wand gives you more MP
So? You still need to refill that bar. More MP only becomes a factor for gays who are overlevelled and overfarmed with tons of ethers, when ideally you beat the game with frickall resources to spare because you're not a gay who grinds for 200 hours in a 12 hour game.
>Use Thundaga
>Things die
No need to grind and the two MP rages you get make sure you get back your MP with barely any effort.
Play the game
>>Use Thundaga
How long did it take you to reach that point homosexual
Sorry, by then I've already beaten the game.
>n-no, I beat it faster than you
Nah, you were too busy grinding 500 attack boosters and 200 shield enhancers to max out your virgin stat so you're ready to face ansem without shitting your nerd diaper
>this is your brain on picking sword
You know that even without Thunder Staff isn't lacking in damage, right? You get Ripple Drive extremely early on which scales off magic as a combo finisher and for the Ansem fight where you have to fly and as such don't have access to it not only is it endgame so you already have all of your tools but you also have Aero, which is both a shield and deals damage.
Even if you don't want to do the Hades Cup for Thundaga Thundara is mandatory and more than does the job.
>b-but this extremely specific meta that
I don't care. I took the sword and I beat the game faster than the nerd who spent 250 hours grinding 999 magic boosters.
>b-but the sword is inefficient! you-
I beat the game before you with less effort, and I didn't need to waste my time looking up guides for secret item locations and farming strats. Clearly my way is more efficient
>this extremely specific meta
Dude, it's basic crap everyone gets as they progress through the game, it's mandatory. How the frick is that some extremely specific meta? I know you're too braindead to do anything beyond mash attack but at least try to keep up.
>it's basic crap everyone gets as they progress through the game
No. Magic does not refill itself easily. It's an annoyance you have to constantly manage. You need to autistically minmax your orb gains and pack ethers at every turn, all while not actually participating in the combat because you're too busy running away and casting spells outside of the enemy's attack range.
But the attack button always works. And more attack is always better. You don't need ethers for attack. Just hit and don't get hit. An engaging experience to the end.
>inb4 "bro just grind to level 74 and magic finally pops off bro it's good I swear"
But it does. Once you get thundaomegachadga and activate super keyblade ken keyblade god keyblade heart form 4 keyblade wielder 7, you can spam thundaalphachadga (the super keyblade ken keyblade god keyblade heart form 4 keyblade wielder 7 version of thundaomegachadga), you can kill any boss full to zero easily.
Just make sure you grind out at least 517 magic boosters, 203 defense boosters, 3051 attack boosters, unlocked the sephiroth keyblade, and equipped goofy + donald with nothing but ethers so they can sustain your MP. Also make sure you don't accidentally whiff spells by casting during a boss' iframe, or else you won't have the mana needed to kill them and will have to reload because melee combat is scary.
Yes, that does mean doing ariel's singing minigame is mandatory, as well as grinding all the romance routes with simba in the pride world.
>as well as grinding all the romance routes with simba in the pride world.
>that scene at the hill at night
I still don't get how they got away with it
>use super powerd up magic for annoying things I dont feel like hitting
>when they get nuked they inevitably drop orbs
>pick those up
>just use basic attacks for the little enemys that die in three hits
Its not that complicated. Your acting as if you can either only use magic or only use melee when you have the option to do both
>you get MP from hitting shit and MP Rage gives you MP for getting hit
I just googled your nerd shit
>Sora learns MP Rage at levels 33 and 51 with the Dream Rod
So you get your core ability by the time the game's already half over. Amazing.
>your core ability
You're so invested in being belligerently wrong it's almost endearing.
Ackshually, most people play on the casualized remix remaster, which has that skill earned at an even later level. So it's even worse than that, they get mp rage at levels 42 and 75
>before it was belts and zippers
>now it will be belts and pockets
it's kinda funny how kinda-accurate that picture is for kh4 sora
you don't even have to visit atlantica
>you need to farm one item if you want our extra attack!
And you literally won't ever have our extra MP or item, no matter what.
You lose an item slot AND a MP you will never recover, we only lose one of those because your precious extra attack is there for us to take.
>You lose an item slot AND a MP you will never recover
What part of "I beat the game long before I begin to care about what my stats will be at level 99 with 200 extra hours spent farming permanent stat boosting items" don't you understand
For a nerd you're pretty frickign stupid
>it's factually worse
It's factually having either one fewer options for slots or having factually one less MP, in exchange for having factually more attack. If having less options is worse for you than having a better-focused other option then it is worse for you, subjectively.
And why does that matter?
As far as I care, more attack is the only thing that matters. There is no reason to grind each of your stats to the highest value they can be, just beat the fricking game.
you didn't beat sephiroth.
>Not PM level 1
Cringe.
Yes. It's designed to filter brainlets.
Anon don't post shit I actually think would be fun for kingdom hearts
?
>and the shield unlocks a slot for gear
Stop saying this. It's not a gear slot, it's an item slot. For potions, elixirs and such.
I picked the sword :DDD
You always pick the sword, because you aren't a b***h. Bring it. (You forgot to mention sword reducing your dps, because every move before the ender is undesirable.)
Staff gives you 2 extra MP, BTW. It's just that the second one is given to you fairly late. Around level 50 I think?
>You forgot to mention sword reducing your dps
You can just disable combo plus abilities, though. And besides, Sword gives you very early access to Slapshot, which really speeds up your combo and Sliding Dash, both helping take away the clunkiness and making melee a more enjoyable experience. It's worth considering if you don't care for a completionist playthrough
>And besides, Sword gives you very early access to Slapshot, which really speeds up your combo and Sliding Dash, both helping take away the clunkiness and making melee a more enjoyable experience.
isn't this only on 1.5? I don't think you get those in the original PS2 game
It's from Final Mix, so technically PS2 still but yes, not vanilla. Only skills 1.5 added to my knowledge are Combo Master and Zero XP. Combo Master is great, though.
>Why would anyone informed pick the sword, then?
More attack. It's not rocket science
>more attack
Power boost
I don't know what that autistic nerd shit is and I've beaten kingdom hearts 1 & 2 at least twice each. Whatever it is, I didn't need it because I already had more attack damage.
Items are for b***hes who get hit
Magic is for b***hed who are afraid of getting hit
Attack is for people who hit and don't get hit
If "dodge more" is all your game comes down to, it's a shit game.
>Wait, so easy mode is easier than hard mode, so why would you ever pick hard mode
The game has easy mode and it has nothing to do with the choices at the station of awakening.
It's okay if you want to play on easy dude. No shame in admitting that.
>game has dificulty options before picking a class
>"you are playing in Expert mode, the highest one, but you didn't pick the objectively worst class, so it's easy mode" *snif snif*
Sorry you love playing like a moron for no reason
>Playing expert on easy mode means it isn't on easy mode
Dude, there's nothing wrong with you playing on easy mode. You don't have to get so mad.
I pick the sword cause it's cool, drop the shield cause it's for gays
I always picked sword and dropped magic as a kid cause I didn't know what they did anyway and I was mostly mashing square
+Sword
-Shield
Proud Mode
The only way to enjoy KH1(FM). You're forced to learn each encounter, to use magic sparingly and at the best moment, to know when to dodge and when to attack. Ideally your aim should be to beat all the super bosses and the final boss before learning Leaf Bracer (level 69), but if you do actually grind that far, just don't use Leaf Bracer and Second Chance together or there is no actual gameplay left, just a perpetual loop of safety.
best world
The one that doesnt have gay mickey ears
But all of them have a Mickey symbol
The shield description is mistranslated.
Notice how the other two have a positive and negative attribute?
X spammers pick sword.
speedrunners and smart people choose staff
no one cares about item slots or defense. except level 1 runs.
ability unlock order is the only thing that matters unless you're doing a level 1 run then you better pick Staff
Tbh why would you do a Lv1 run of KH1? The game isn't built for it as IIRC the only skill you get from story progression is Dodge Roll. You do get your spells for progression at least so yeah, pretty much Staff only
it's not nearly as fun as KH2 level 1 but i still had fun doing it
or you made the wrong choice and handicapped yourself
>or you made the wrong choice
How is it the wrong choice?
>handicapped yourself
Debatable. Without foreknowledge of the game's mechanics and future content, magic is arguably worse than sword/shield.
ability unlock order does not apply to level 1
neither do your stats matter because the hidden EXP zero stats kick in
the extra MP is a big benefit
Oh you were talking about level 1 runs, my bad.
yessir, staff is the objective answer for level 1
for regular runs it's irrelevant and you should pick based on the preferred ability unlock order
>Without foreknowledge of the game's mechanics and future content, magic is arguably worse than sword/shield.
How so?
>then you better pick Staff
Or else what?
The sword because there isn't a gay mouse symbol on it.
You sure?
That symbol isn't gay homosexual
It's the same symbol, you've been wielding a gay sword this whole time and never even realized lmao
Shield is best because it's the earliest access to increased synthesis drops from enemies. On my last playthrough I didn't grind for anything until Ultima Weapon and even that only took a few encounters.
