        Religion is a cope.
They need something to cling to in a hostile, ever changing world and they dont have the mental strength and purity to justify their own beliefs. They need external validation and of course the omnipresent need to feel like "jesus is coming" or equivalent, all their suffering is validated, their works or lack thereof made irrelevant, all their enemies punished and eternal reward awaiting. As always religion is the refuge of the weak and those who would exploit them.

there are two things you don't know:

in 2019, when Paris Notre-Dame burned, rabbies said that this was a good thing and rejoiced, because St Louis burned there the talmud, a millenary before.

the statue in OP is the statue of St Louis, Sacré-Coeur, Paris.

      >Religion is a cope.
      Correct.
      >They need something to cling to in a hostile, ever changing world and they dont have the mental strength and purity to justify their own beliefs.
That's not it. Religion, more specifically the promise of an afterlife, is the reason people use to justify not just killing themselves the moment they're capable. When nothing you do, good or bad, matters and in the end you're just worm food, why would you put up with the pain in the ass that is daily living? Wouldn't you just rather have a nice day and not have to deal with the hassle of maintaining your body by constantly needing to eat, sleep, shit, or piss? Or deal with the man made hassles like forming social connections or having a job or paying bills and taxes?
There's a reason why a lot of religions don't say that killing yourself = good end.

What's there to answer moron? A family isn't some magical happily ever after wonderland.
Your wife? She's her own person, with her own thoughts, beliefs, ideas. You two will fight. You two will argue. You two will reconcile. That is just life. That these squalls happen in your "journey" disprove it being "calm".
Your kids? Their lack of agency in their infancy is a boulder to navigate around in that journey too. On top of that, as they grow up, in spite of your best intentions they WILL do things you do not want them to. They WILL rebel. That rebellious teen phase is part of the human experience, and is never a calming thing for a parent.
Only a moron romanticizes the things they don't have. Those that have can see and call it for what it is as they live with and learn to accept things as they come.

How exactly is "hey dumbass it's not all sunshine and rainbows" against families? It's a realistic notice to not be a moron idealizing everything.

                >A family isn't some magical happily ever after wonderland.
it isn't the nightmare you focused on in your posts either, i.e. a wife that nags and a kid that shits. there are ups and downs as with everything, but isnt that obvious? you're being daft on purpose

I never said it's a nightmare, moron. I said it's not some magic calm journey. That's why the whole thing of arguing with a wife I put at what I believe to be a reasonable 30% of the relationship experience, and the pains with children focused on their formative and teenage years.
All a family is, is a journey. It has its ups, it has its downs. It's neither calm nor hellish. It just IS.

Always has been, innit? The faith argument is that people of religious belief do the things they do because they believe that what they do here has some merit in a life after death. People that don't believe in an afterlife ponder that, if we're a bunch of electric impulses, electricity is matter, and matter can neither be created nor destroyed, just altered from one state to another, then what state does it transfer to once the body is dead.

                >16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

not "magic" but a sentient creator. reading a few pages of any anatomy or physiology book makes it bafflingly clear this level of complexity is impossible to achieve through what is basically dice rolls

So if one theory is wrong, Christianity is automatically correct? There are more than two possible explainations, proving one wrong doesn't prove the other right.

I can't tell if you're baiting now, there are so many things wrong with biology that if someone all powerful were able to design life, they'd never choose to what is present in life. I doubt you're educated, and even if you are, you have extremely poor critical thinking skills

It has nothing at all to do with an afterlife
