I remember Citadel Station
How can I serve?
sex with the robot lady
take out my dick and just start jerking off in the middle of the room
what is it about this portrait so unsettling, all the holes?
her nose looks like a skellyton
Start fricking the walls or something, probably.
Anyone else disappointed that the big "twist" in System Shock 2 was so obvious from so early on? It made the big "reveal" in the room surrounded by monitors with her face on it really lame
It is extremely fricking obvious if you pay any attention at all to what is going on, yeah.
her face was literally the front cover
Yeah but you COULD interpret that as her showing up later in the game separate from Polito. What really gets me is that XERXES starts literally telling you that you are working for SHODAN like 15 minutes into the game.
yeah they could have probably done it better
Unlike other media where it happens near the end, the twist isnt the big reveal of the entire story near the end. Its just another part of it. It's better that way
>THE POLITO FORM IS DEAD-
>yeah I knew all along, actually
>S-SHUT UP HACKER NO YOU DIDN'T
nah
I played SS1 first so it was extremely obvious what was going on. But the "twist" was still kino because of the incredible sound design in that scene.
>I AM SHODAN
>you will never download shodans brain into one of her cyborg vat-grown clones and force her to be your wife
why even live
I love her.
femdom
Shodan could've easily killed the hacker by closing all doors and venting out the air. In fact, she could've killed him in his sleep during his recovery from surgery. I think the only reason she kept the hacker alive was that she liked him.
SHODAN becoming a rampant AI happened months after the hacker did his work. Diego wiped the files related to him well before that happened. He also planned an "accident" for him when he woke up to get rid of him. Ignoring obvious game reasons, Diego likely kept the hacker a secret pre and post assimilation out of either wienery pride or fear of what he caused. Maybe he had some last hope that the hacker might be able to clean up the mess he created. I need to re-read all the logs in the game again.
shodan takes how many days to try to use the laser, and how many hours to do the antenna thing? she doesnt have that much power on the station, at least not when the hacker wakes up
but you're analyzing the game way too much lol, there's no suspension of disbelief imo
She had no idea about the hacker until he woke up and started doing things because all files related to him or his presence on the station were wiped
>Nice jump
SS1 is kino.
its a shame people only ever really talk about 2
Yeah, I like 1 more than 2.
I can understand why people like 1 but honestly the good parts are seperated as a whole and doesn't come together to make a good game.
It also has some genuinely awful design choices that did not stand up to the test of time.
>BIG OL FUKIN RED BUTTON spotted
>gamer senses kick in and press it immediately
woops sorry earth
>push big red button that explicitly does very bad thing if you paid any attention
>GAME OVER, moron
Games are afraid of letting you make memorable moments like this anymore
Prey (2017) has a scenario like that, it was nice to see.
I already flipped the switch on this floor's restoration bay, so whatever.
im gon fuk yo girl
God I'm glad real AI's are weak as piss. Computers are fricking flimsy next to humans.
>Toss a bit of uranium into one of her nodes
>entire system is fried
pull my dick out and jerk off on her screen
I really do wonder how her character would canonically react to such acts.
Realistically probably just disgust, calling you a meat drone driven solely by carnal instinct like an animal, lecturing you on how filthy biotards can't reproduce with machines, you know, same old same old
>lecturing you on how filthy biotards can't reproduce with machines
Sounds like a challenge, if you ask me. If she's a reality altering goddess like she claims shouldn't it be easy?
One of her creators was Japanese or some shit so she is unironically a weeb AI. You were meant to visit her cyberspace tatami mat weeb dojo at the end of SS2 but it got cut.
Don't stop there, keep going
l-l-look at you fapper
Enjoy yourself, b-because nobody would ever touch that pathetically small piece of flesh.
>lecturing you on how filthy biotards can't reproduce with machines
unf
gotta fix her
Nah bro she's a b***h. Finding a cute engineer and trying to rehabilitate her is the way to go.
Enforcer I mean
Imagine if an actual insect not only thought they could challenge your divine nature as a god but also tried to procreate with you because it fancied you, the reaction would mostly just be disgust then crush
>he wouldn't fug a cute spider-chan
Enjoy having to amputate your dick because you tried to frick a venomous spider
But that's beside the point, I'm trying to paint a picture from SHODAN's perspective, like imagine you REALLY REALLY hated wienerroaches and thought they were gross, but a wienerroach ends up fancying you, you'd be like "eww" and smash it you wouldn't entertain the notion.
who said she was venomous?
and why would she try to poison you? she likes you!
doubt anyone is that desperate
>desperation
Dude if a big bug could talk and wanted a friendly relationship romantic or not would you really just not go for it?
>uh h-hey there!
>Sorry I know this is weird but I wanted to say hi finally
>I've been living here for a while....
>Oh nonono not like that I was born here, in your kitchen wall actually.....
>I...I can leave if you want I know this doesn't make any sense but I've been around you so long I couldn't help but say something.
>Well I'm kinda under your bed rights now sorry haha.....please don't freak out
>Who am I? Well...I...I'm sorry please don't be mad but I think its best I stay hidden for now
>I'm here though.......if you ever want to talk or anything. We're both always around, maybe we could get to know eachother?
>fricking insect keeps fricking up my plans
>even comes on to me, as if I'd even let an insect like that touch my nodes willingly
>dodges all my traps and destroys me at the end of the first game
>well... I guess hes not THAT bad, for an insect I mean
>"Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"
>challenges me again while coming on to me
>"wow your pretty remarkable hacker... f-for a pathetic species I mean"
you know the first thing she did after coming to earth at the end of the second game was jump one of the hackers' bone
I would fall prostrate.
>her avatar wears a kimono and is barefoot
what did shodan mean by that?
Die several times.
zip around like a spaz with my rocket skates swinging my laser rapier around with reckless abandon
Don't forget a few good scorpion brrrrts for good measure. I swear to God they better bring it back.
They made her look less intimidating, and less insane in 2, and now the vaperware remake.
>go through the reactor
>mine the room in advance
>run through the door that triggers the trap
IT-HE is my life's shepard. I fear not the AI that lurks in the static, nor the pre-arranged armies of sodom, for Saint Paul is my shepard, and mine enemies shall all be consumed by the most fiery of conflagrations.
cum
There's an alternate voice message if you destroy the cameras of that room without triggering the trap fully
figured that out today when I kept dying and decided to experiment
>shoot all cameras
>shodan becomes a toasty roastie
>dash out of the room
>kill all hoppers and assassins by corner peaking
Shodan is a much better antagonist than "ally" which is one advantage ss1 has over 2. It's fun when she pulls one over on you and it's even more fun when you frustrate her.
As the game goes on her seething and coping gets even stronger and it's great, culminating in her sheer unbridled rage when you irreversibly start the self destruct sequence, it's just great
Is SS1 worth playing? SS2 has had a mammoth reputation around it for almost 3 decades now but from my perspective SS1 has only recently reentered the conversation now that it's not like playing a graphic calculator, so I'm just wanting to learn if that's excitement for it being playable or if it is a solid game.
It's better then 2 imo. The enhanced version at least. Once you figure out what menus mean what it's fairly straightforward and very fun.
definitely but if you watched eceleb reviews you got spoiled a shitload so it wont be as good
i binged ss1 when the mouse look mod came out, which was the only thing stopping me from playing it in the first place
as that other dude said if you get used to the controls it can be fun but i ended up lucking out on someone releasing the mod right when i was reminded about it's existence
SS1 with the mouselook mod controls basically just like any other old FPS like Doom and it holds up shockingly well, if you liked SS2 then definitely give it a try
If you can stomach the cyberspace rides and get used to UI, you will have a great time.
If you are serious about playing it, get the mod which matches text on voice logs with actual voice lines. Otherwise, you would constantly feel slightly brain damaged.
SS1's difficulty was overblown by morons unable to wrap their heads around older asdx-centric controls, that never actually played the game.
The current sourceport version has a couple minor bugs but makes the game modern; there's nothing wrong with the graphics, but if the graphics don't bother you, you'll probably love Shock 1 if you loved SS2.
SS1 has an interesting difficulty selection where components of the game are broken off into their own tunable parameters. Depending on how you set the game's difficulty, you can play the game as a pure shooter, or a pure adventure game around puzzles and exploration with basically no combat, with the default being a nice blend of all the above.
Nah
Laugh at it for saying interloper like some nerdy pussy
Then leave the room after I shoot it to death
yall know shodan is male dont you?
INB4 "i guess im gay now" responses - yall was gay allready
Aahhhh the superior Alien Isolation.
Guess I'll die.
tfw no all powerful AI gf
>unzips pennis
Pathetic creature of meat and boner.
>Just started playing System Shock for the first time last night
>Stopped for the night right after that room
GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD
Anyways damn, played both this and 2 for the first time this month and I'm really loving them, give me more games like them.
Prey 2017 is probably the closest we'll get to System Shock 3.
As much as I find wrong and unfun, and disappointing with that game, that's probably correct.
Deus ex
SS1 is kinda tricky as it's basically one of a kind in a lot of ways . There still aren't a lot of quality open Sim style games that just let you go nuts the way it does.
System shock 1 would be much more successful if the devs told players you're controlling a Mech
Is SS1 fun by today's standards? I'm playing Deus Ex for the first time since i skipped it many years ago and so far it's awesome, but SS seems extremely clunky,
it is extremely clunky but it has mouse control in the enhanced edition so its not hard to get used to it.
Die and brush it off because you made yourself immortal. Stupid AI needs mind rape correction.
Hey if the dude who posted his shock 1 covers is here I just wanted to say you're doing a better job than the remake team with their shitty prey-lite ambient music.
Shodan, Glados and Haydee having a girl's night out.

reminder that the default soundfont windows 10 uses is shit and the soundtrack can sound so much better with a proper soundfont
this soundfont should be closer to the video's
https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/538
>playing old dos games
>midi sounds like shit every time
>every game has its own system for dealing with it
>never sounds quite right
This is one situation where console emulation is just so much better, thank god for standard hardware
