He is right though.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE to not use a.i. to read the text for you.
They even had an official livestream with 2 lorehomosexuals from youtube, and they were both struggling to read this shit out loud for the livestream because of various reasons.
1. you could have made it optional DLC to have the a.i. read out loud for you.
2. This would vastly increase the livestream experience for people who follow that type of this.
3. it would make the game look more polished, and less like it's on some she string budget.

Take your own advice. It's funny how it literally never fails that someone using "election tourist" is the actual obvious tourist in the situation. You are fooling nobody.
You should be asking why chuds hate reading so much. I've seen these exact posts on Disco Elysium threads too, and it's one of the greatest crpgs of our age.
Honestly I skip less text than in BG3.

One of my biggest gripes with this shit, it's like they don't know where to allocate the resources to properly make you engage with some aspects of the game.
I don't mind AI in many aspects. But voice acting is one thing that AI is far, far from ever being able to do properly.
It is obvious everytime it is used, it is grating and it is souless.

Again, illiterate anon friend, I don't mind AI. My issue is that, AS IT CURRENTLY STANDS, it is simply too shitty.
Maybe in the future it will be very good and indistinguishable from a person, but that has yet to happen.
Right now it is a souless piece of shit that you can easily detect, it is grating and companies will shove this incomplete bullshit down our throats if we give an inch. I'd rather it get good before it starts getting used in my hobby.

If you flirt with her it instantly shoots her romance affection up to maximum and shunts you to the very end of her romance dialogue meaning you miss out on the entire romance altogether.
That's an accurate depiction of someone who is touch starved like Cassia, she has known nothing but a sheltered life from the moment she was born, it's only natural that when someone as influential, wealthy and handsome as the rogue trader tells her that she's cute she instantly falls to her knees for him.

I really want to play it, but i generally don't enjoy big walls of text in games. Is the writing good? %-wise how much reading is there per hour? Please convince me that it is not as bad as I imagine 🙁
I don't like walls of text either, but sometimes the story clicks and you don't mind.
I suggest give it a go and play at least the prologue. You have nothing to lose anyway.
It’s there, but you can also completely ignore it. Just look at the responses and it’s enough.
Or you can ask a a lot of questions and get thousands of sentences on lore.
One thing I give owlcat is they give the player a lot of flexibility.
Around 50% reading paragraphs of text and descriptions, 50% combat. Major scenes are voice acted but most things aren't.
The genre is not for you. I don't like platforming, I don't force myself to play platforming games.

Thanks for the different takes, frens. I'll give the game a shot.

We do need that, especially for modern games that have lots of text, you have no excuse in current year to not implementing that.

A book is an object filled with nothing but wall to wall text. This must frighten the zoomie who quails before a mere paragraph.
None of that is relevant, good a.i. narration/voice acting will make your game more popular on twitch, rather that relying on autistic necjbeards whose reading skills make everybody's grandparents cry.

literally yes
they kickstart their games, we back, we get the game we want, that's it. If some normies come up way later and buy it that's not a problem, but if they start changing the game to capture normie market then we end up with casual shit like bg3
The game is fun so far but some of the bugs are really irritating.
I'm doing the starport missions and at one point a "rebel commander" just runs into a wall and continues running into the wall for 30 seconds. He then skips his turn, but becomes unhittable and untargetable, so even when the enemy counter hits 0 he is still there and I cannot exit combat.
I tried killing him first and maybe I could with a lucky crit, but he starts far from where I do so I can only reach him with long range guns and he has been running into the wall on his first turn every time now and I've had to reset 3 times as it keeps happening.

No, your link to wayback machine, which should be accompanied with your sourced evaluation of what kind of employees those are, because not all of those are paid identically, and next to that, your calculation for their profits, with sources used for that. The problem is you literally have no other argument other than you desire your game to be unpopular and have low sales.
>low sales
Rogue Trader does not have low sales.
I guess, by the standards of your full AAA titles, it has low sales. Specifically, in comparison to Baldur's Gate 3, it has low sales. But Rogue Trader is not a AAA title and it is not Baldur's Gate 3. Rogue Trader is an independent studio, and it's budget wasn't even near AAA status or anything like Baldur's Gate 3. I would expect that, with its current sales, Owlcat has probably already made their money back.
This is one of the problems with demanding full voice acting. Getting that much voice acting done would massively increase the budget of what was not originally intended to be a AAA game and would require many, many more sales to make their money back.
>b-but muh AI
I can only imagine how asking professional voice actors to train AI to use their voices would go down, or worse doing it without their permission. We might get a fully AI voice acted game later on, but it would be with mods. I don't know which dev its going to be who is the first to open that particular can of worms, but it certainly isn't going to be Owlcat.

>Rogue Trader does not have low sales.
Doesn't change the fact that you morons argued in favour of and desire of low sales.
You got masterfully baited into that position because you are unable to handle criticism and have to pretend your employer can do no wrong.
>Rogue Traders shouldn't be fighting trash mobs and picking up garbage loot.
Whilst that is correct for the most part as far as the setting goes, but the TTRPG it is translating was more about that. The reason for this is Dark Heresy wasn't intended to be a combat focused game despite combat being present, so as a result TPK was frequent and common despite people wanting combat. So the follow up was Rogue Trader which allowed for more of a combat focus for the game without the associate wipes. That still wasn't enough though which is why Deathwatch was pretty much all combat.
So RT having a combat focus makes sense given the game it is adapting.
Oh shit. What do I do?
Pretty curious what the thing actually does, but I fear going heretical for a trinket that actually does nothing.
PS, has the game been nerfed yet? The warp beast thing felt pretty underwhelming.
Well, I threw it away. hopefully I didn't frick myself over.
Gotta say, it's amazing how conversation for the game seems to be dead, considering it just released.
That's the Chaos tainted blade from the prologue, toss that shit unless you want to go heretical. Keeping artifacts of Chaos on your person is a literal deal with the devil, even if you get a powerful item out of it.
It's actual binary. All it says is 'manual configuration', didn't bother translating the options, just click each one until something happens, you don't get locked out of anything.
So is Heinrix like living proof that a psyker can go through the sanctioning process on Terra and not come out of it looking completely fricked up? Like he doesn't even have the head tubes or any visible implants.
It is largely dependant upon their ability as a psyker. By default those picked out as Inquisition potential usually already have significant strength of mind. The weaker the psyker is the more supplementary crap needs to tacked onto them, sometimes as a failsafe device if they are borderline unstable.
The only reason he doesn't looked fricked up anymore is his Biomancy. Fairly sure if he's romanced he spills the beans on that front and by the time he was brought into the Inquisition he barely looked human.
biomancy >"When my family disowned me, they also removed all the Knight pilot implants from my body. They don't stand on ceremony when it comes to sorcerers, so after my vivisection, I was left with a paralysed arm and a significant chunk of my cranium missing — the hole was sealed with a plate. When the Lord Inquisitor took me out of the Guard, he had me remove the augments installed in psykers when they become sanctioned. So I lost an eye and gained some nerve damage."" >""Xavier didn't care that I was a maimed freak — he needed me for my sorcery, nothing more. But I decided I would be more useful if I could start to look more like a human again." {n}Heinrix brings his hand to his face.{/n} "Repairing my eyeball took the longest. Even the nerve connections took less effort. Years went by before I managed to eliminate all the visual aberrations and I could see as well as I had when I was a child.""
I have to say, I am really happy that they let you buy good gear with profit factor instead of making the player pawn off the crap they found to pay for their gear despite running a barony, like in the Pathfinder games.
It seems I'm building my character wrong. I made a soldier, tried focusing on agi, int and shooting powress, but I can't hit shit, and when I do I don't do much damage. The only party member worse than me is the sister of battle, ironically, which also suffers from the same fate, even though I was trying to be more focused with her. Should I have just gone all in on shooting?
need to aply some basic buffs on them.
pasqual machine code thing, voice of command, inspire from tactician and so on.
once you get more talents they'll become beasts.
Let's be honest, there's literally no sane reason not to let white goddess Argenta blow her brains out beyond the meta of knowing it's a video game and you'll be able to get a good outcome
Idira is probably one of your more useful party members. If you haven't played the game through yet, she provides good forewarnings about what's going to happen and Divination Psykers are arguably some of the most useful in the game. She clearly outshines Heinrix as your "team wizard."
Anon... wall of texts are amazing when well written and so far I would say they nailed it.
But sadly to enjoy such things, you need not to be analphabet and not have aphantasia and now we know both things are actually very common with normies.
is combined melee/ranged archmilitant feasible? it feels like i'm split between too many stats >ws, bs, agi, per, some str for power armor, some tgh so i don't explode
Possibly, there is that one perk you can pick where their weapon skill buffs their ballistic skill and vice versa, which should help keep the stats from being spread too thin. Honestly though I made Argenta and Archmillitant and still kept her purely ranged focused and it seems to be working out pretty well so far. You still up getting quite a few stacks of versatility just spamming Wildfire, and after awhile it makes her shots hit like a truck.
It's just shorthand for wound capacity. It sounds grimmer and darker than hitpoints. You take damage, you lose some of your wound capacity, when you have too many wounds, you go down.
Because that is how it worked in the TTRPG the game is based off. Wounds was how much damage you could take before you ended up with critical wounds of ever increasing severity that would really frick you up badly if not outright kill you in a horrible way.
>Play unfair >It's actually unfair (unavoidable 100 hit rates) >Bump down 1 ONE difficulty >Game becomes a cakewalk
Did they accidentally double the unfair mods again or something?
If they are using the TT rules then that sounds about right depending on what attributes or traits/skills they are adding to the enemies. It was a problem with the TT too as the game was never designed with proper scalability in mind since the original Dark Heresy TTRPG that started this all off was basically a throw away product with no considerations for future expansion.
You're supposed to precog what skills will actually be useful and necessary for that exact moment in time but also the skills you will need to buy before they become unavailable because Owlcat is allergic to build experimentation (Two games where difficulty turns off respec, one game where you can brick your game if you respec too much).
Basically, they're fricking buttholes.
Yea, and since they removed the "spend profit factor, regen it over time" mechanic because it scared and confused normalgays, we have to deal with the set limit of Reputation based resource stations and limited profit factor.
So you should only mine a planet you NEED. You should plan out your colony upgrades to prep the upgrade for another colony. Stuff like that. Or you WILL brick your demesne.

The funny thing is the UI still alludes to it (Current/Max Profit factor) but for all intents and purposes it acts just like any other resource except that it also acts like a secondary gating mechanism for the good equipment from stores. Instead of store items being balanced around a regenerating but low max resource.
That's why we have the awkward "can't buy anything" vs the "might as well take everything" dynamic. I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea.

> I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea.
I like the novelty of it.
>Space combat hard >Spawns you last in initiative surrounded by 3 chaos pirates >They nuke your shields and armor turn one
I mean I still won, but jesus.
>Spawns you last in initiative surrounded by 3 chaos pirates
Welcome to the fun world of how initiative works in the FFG 40K RPGs. Until Black Crusade they were effectively trying to balance a system that was never designed with scalability in mind. So instead of something like a simple +X initiative bonus, it is just double or triple your initiative bonus. Which gets really bad when things like Marines and Genestealers happen since not only did they generally have better stats all round, including Agility, but they usually have the double or triple bonus trait just because. Even if Owlcat used the later iterations of the rules you are still going to get fricked and out paced by anything that is meant to be speedy.
I'm talking the space combat anon. Owlcat designs their spacefights so the player gets fricked before they even make a single decision. Which would normally be fine except repairing the ship requires a finite resource. So the player is encouraged to almost never upgrade and just retry until they get a win despite being basically dead.
What sane person would actually bring that thing into their ship? I get she's a character so I should say yes, but that's dumb. This quest was dumb. I feel like I should just kill everyone to loot their bodies but that'd also be dumb.
I know that. The old man is also a navigator. The obvious choice would be number 3, but then I'd be down a party member. It's a gameplay vs common sense situation.
>What sane person would actually bring that thing into their ship?
If it makes you feel better, you can wait until the Drukhari have stolen the sun so that you don't have a choice in the matter.
Pretty sure it was said we could cure him but he refuses because he wants to go down with the station.
That's why you have the option of not taking her. The only reason anyone would take her is because they aren't playing by the Imperium's typical rules, which is pretty common amongst Rogue Traders and those living on the fringes of Imperial space in general.
See? I'm looking at this from a tabletop perspective. Do you want an experienced navigator for your new ship? Or this freak of nature that apparently can unwillingly mind control everyone around her? In what universe would her be the better choice? Only reason the player has to actively pick her over forcing the dude to be the navigator is from metagaming that you'd lose a party member if you don't pick her.
That's what bothers me.
They have the technology

But I am. It's a dishonest choice, since it's really asking if I want to cuck myself out of content or not. It should've been presented in a different way, at least give us a reason to want to pick her besides the obvious. Maybe we meet her before the choice to have an actual bond, or the old man isn't a navigator, and the choice is between dangerous fish girl or traitorous other guy on the lobby. At least that way there's an actual reason to not want to pick either choice, making it a real choice.

Bro it's a roleplaying game, if you can't imagine a reason for you to risk taking a mind controlling three eyed mutant to guide your ship through hell, that's a you issue. For me, my in-character reason for taking her over the dude is literally because she's inexperienced, she can be molded to my purposes where an older and more experienced navigator could not.

That's why you have the option of not taking her. The only reason anyone would take her is because they aren't playing by the Imperium's typical rules, which is pretty common amongst Rogue Traders and those living on the fringes of Imperial space in general.
Eh, that entire dialog still felt weird to me. She went from mad to happy to mad again between two dialog choices.
"Oh I'm so happy with these books!" "Oh frick you for asking me how I am" "Oh but this place has so many wonders I had never seen!" "Oh but everyone left because they hate me"
I can't tell if it's buggy or if she's just having a woman moment,
Normal CRPG buggy. Better than both Wrath and KM. So far nothing's come up that's game breaking.
Though the usual weirdness and definitely a lot of people reporting some talents don't even work.
Basically you can buy it now and do a run on normal/daring for the story and characters. If you want to go at this in unfair and do crazy builds, wait a year.

>BG3 >The game where there somehow is two super special party members with bombs in their chest
Gale alone makes me want to vomit. He might not be a Gary Stu but his background is definitely the "that guy" at the table.
Fricking bullshit first space fight you get is 3 pirates all launching torpedoes, multiple attacks from the same gun per turn, hit through your shields, and you have no upgrades
>gays
The cold trader chick swings both ways but you can blow her head off after her very first quest
The female Eldar can be woo'd by either gender but no direct sex because she's an alien you pervert, and you can blow her head off the moment you meet her
The male Eldar is a hardcore sadomasochist for either gender and you are actively encouraged to blow his head off >minorities
First chick already mentioned is some ambiguous shade of brown
The rogue psyker is full black but once again her whole thing is "how many times can I frick up before the player blows my head off"
If you haven't picked up on it by now, you can kill like 90% of the cast
I just started the game and tried to make a badass pirate captain. Why do all the dialogue lines make me sound like a dumb ass b***h who doesn't know anything? Is the whole game like this or just the prologue?
Okay big noox
this is how I felt playing persona
at least you can romance argenta
The developers wanted street credit with all the youtuber warhammer lore channel autists.
So they made their new game TLDR, and it's boring as frick for the average video gamer.
So true, it's boring as FRICK
then go back to Balls Hurt Gay, you mutt.
Fun as frick. Never played Warhammer, normally hate owlcat autism but I’m having a blast. There best game by far.
Why do gays love walls of text games so much?
stick to fortnight sar
Stick your boyfriends rectum queer
That was broken English, ESL sar.
If by gay you mean heterosexual liberal who does pretty good because he’s educated rich and shares the same values as the breasts flopping over him than yes.
It’s literally paragraphs, even if you never went to college how is that filtering you?
By gay I mean moronic toy painting queer hating vidya and lovin walls of text
I see words are tough for you buddy, don’t worry champ. You’ll always have Sekiro, I’m sure that’s much more your speed…
Didnt read im not interested in men sry
>can barely read
ftfy
Vidya is not a gay book club, in the era of AI there is no reason to waste the players time with walls of text.
>t. Illiterate Anon
You are defending incompetent, lazy developers.
Stick to subhuman games since reading is painful for your peabrain
Stick to your book club
I love this is now a insult, kek. Looks like Trump did win.
>liberal
Go back, homosexual. Even if you're """"""""""""straight"""""""""" as a liberal you immediately default to a filthy grimy troony enabling homosexual. Kys.
You will never belong here election tourist, go back
Take your own advice.
Yea because disco final cut has zero reading and had such a cool narrator unlike your boring book simulator
>enters a thread full of text to complain about text
>5 posting
bad sign, means it's dumbed down moron shit for 40kids
time for bed grandpa
>niche crpg studio makes another niche crpg
Wow who would have thought
Frick off normalgay
Honestly I skip less text than in BG3.
Dialogues have more exposition but you get to know the characters better. Random lore scrolls are shorter than Lariians filler.
You can feel the ESL oozing but I didn't mind
I get annoyed anytime I hear or read Geller, it's a Gellar field. Gellar. They got it wrong in the text AND the voiceover.
Stick to Fortnite
>this scares the zoomer
>shitty combat
>shitty walls of text
>can't beat player numbers of Wrath of the Righteous
It is over, Owlcat bros.
You cant read?
its a crpg, why did you get it if you dont like crpgs?
>Aurora (fake) has a voice gimmick where she changes her voice tone in creepy ways
>It's not voiced
>Random ass civilian with no name does have a voice for some reason
One of my biggest gripes with this shit, it's like they don't know where to allocate the resources to properly make you engage with some aspects of the game.
True! Also with AI they couldve voiced everything for cheap.
>AI voice acting
go fricking die in a fire and get out of my hobby
>seething about the future
pearl clutchers ahahaha
I don't mind AI in many aspects. But voice acting is one thing that AI is far, far from ever being able to do properly.
It is obvious everytime it is used, it is grating and it is souless.
And if you give a single inch, companies will start shoving it down your throat even as unfinished as it currently is
it is coming anon, you can't stop the march of technology
Again, illiterate anon friend, I don't mind AI. My issue is that, AS IT CURRENTLY STANDS, it is simply too shitty.
Maybe in the future it will be very good and indistinguishable from a person, but that has yet to happen.
Right now it is a souless piece of shit that you can easily detect, it is grating and companies will shove this incomplete bullshit down our throats if we give an inch. I'd rather it get good before it starts getting used in my hobby.
no one cares sperg, what you feel means nothing. you can keep yelling at clouds.
Imagine enjoying corporate wiener this much that you would rather put up with an inferior product just so companies could save a few shekels by using technology that isn't ready.
Still better than walls of text in a VIDEO game my fellow gay poster
>cRPG game thread
>complaining about text
just frick off dude, jesus christ
You've been filtered and you want to feel like you're not stupid, like it's the game that's wrong not you. But it is you. You are too stupid, and will stay like that until you die.
Just like GTA, Fallout, TES, CoD and every franchise that ever became mainstream we normal people will get our way. This reading fest will not stand the test of time. See you in 5 years when this type of """game""" does not exist anymore.
CRPGs have been declared "dead" about a dozen times for the past 20 years, and every year they keep coming back.
They came back with voice acting sister
Name 10 CRPGs with full voice acting and I'll name 100 without it.
All 110 games ought to have a.i. reading the text for you as an optional thing.
>non sequitur
And we're done, you lost.
I wasn't even that guy, I 'm just pointing out how moronic you are for defending lazy developers.
Read the fricking reply chain you colossal moron.
>"CRPGs will die without voice acting"
>actually CRPGs were called dead plenty of times before and they're still popular today
>"t-that's only because they now have voice acting!"
>go on, name them then
>"o-okay they don't but they should've!"
>that makes no sense
>"that wasn't me!"
Holy coperino.
>"CRPGs will die without voice acting"
I never said this, I said people will rightfully criticise your shit developers because they are lazy.
There is a whole niche of livestreaming that could benefit from a reading out loud feature, and audio narration makes the difference between engaging livestream vs a stream nobody gives a frick about.
So the developers you are defending are only shooting their own foot.
>There is a whole niche of livestreaming that could benefit from a reading out loud feature, and audio narration makes the difference between engaging livestream vs a stream nobody gives a frick about.
Not video games, have a nice day.
Twitch is free advertisement of your game. You are legitimately moronic for rejecting this solution.
That just makes CRPGs the same as other RPGs. It doesn't become more profitable, you shift the focus of the product entirely, thus losing out on that niche market that let CRPGs survive for decades so far.
>That just makes CRPGs the same as other RPGs
Otherwise they would be worse. It appears you like your game to be worse.
see
I'm happy with my small game for a niche audience, thank you very much.
>development time and budget wasted
According to Owlcat shills, Owlcat should
-never ever improve their games, because muh reasons, it's just better to have lower sales!!!
-keep hiring expensive voice actors who cost so much they can only afford a few voiced lines
That's a downgrade, not an improvement. You're too stupid for crpgs.
Nope, I have seen livestreams where Neckbeards attempt to read out loud.
A.i. can only be an upgrade.
Looks like the gatekeeping is working.
Take a hike, fricking tourist.
Ideally only main chars should be professionally voice acted, what's the problem with all minor chars getting AI VO?
It gets a bit wonky with fantasy/scifi settings because the AI won't be able to pronounce the words properly. Not enough to train it on.
I'm not that far into the game but it was obvious as frick from the prologue who was going to do based on who wasn't voice acted, which was annoying. But I get it that voice acting is expensive and BG3 kinda spoiled me.
going to die**
>Go to RT's bug channel on owlcat's discord
>One gorillion posts talking about Cassia's bugged face
>One (1) post talking about her bugged romance (it got no replies)
Do these idiots even realize she's bugged?
how is her romance bugged?
He's going to say your romance her too fast
You romance her too slowly
If you flirt with her it instantly shoots her romance affection up to maximum and shunts you to the very end of her romance dialogue meaning you miss out on the entire romance altogether.
That's an accurate depiction of someone who is touch starved like Cassia, she has known nothing but a sheltered life from the moment she was born, it's only natural that when someone as influential, wealthy and handsome as the rogue trader tells her that she's cute she instantly falls to her knees for him.
>influential, wealthy and handsome
Even if I'm a death world psyker who routinely sets himself on fire?
She prefers fortress world criminal scum actually
Nothing a lot of augments can't fix.
>hot tempered, brutish guy who prefers to solve problems with copious amounts of violence and literally explodes into a fit of anger
>shy, cute girl who still has enough fortitude to reel him on a battlefield and help him control his anger issues
A perfect duo
Based take.
But only if your crime lord/death world soldier still tries to act like a gentleman for her.
so can anyone post the conversations here? I'm not reloading a save 5 hours ago
sounds like bg3
ie intended behavior
It's not bugged. You just an inordinate amount of friendship points by saving her servants, which causes the act 1 scene to trigger much earlier than I believe was intended. The rest of her romance has been working correctly, I think, so far.
There are no points, Owlcat dropped that in WotR
even if you murder her servants the cutscene triggers, it is a bug.
how is her face bugged
I assumed that was normal because she's a fricking mutant and also how would they not catch that
How do you even get it to look like that.
It doesn't in my model.
I thought it was the Beatles easter egg.
she's a navigator. Having an inbred habsburg chin should be canon
They know about the bug and already said that it's priority for the patch coming this week.
Release incomplete game, fix later.
It's all so tiresome.
she gushes a waterfall then is finished with you immediately the first moment you are nice to her
its funny
Even if it was...now constantly repeated joke become moronic
too moronic to read, your brain is as rotted as your soul
A new Rogue Trader thread?
Abelard introduce me
Ahem... Attention Black folk, you have the honor of addressing Anon van Valancias, inheritor of the title of Rogue Trader by right and possessor of the Warrant of Trade. If you are honest shitposters of the Imperium, some accord can be reached. But if you are a heretic, troon, Lariangay, or some other foul denizen of the Gankerarp, then prepare to meet a fiery yet righteous end.
kek, nice one
Come here so you can avoid the moronic shitposting
Why do gamers hate reading so much?
If anything there isn't enough text. So much combat holy shit
CRPGs are fun. Anyone who takes issue with them is an Adderall-munching zoomer with no patience.
That's like complaining about the amount of shooting in an FPS. What did you think you were gonna get into moron lol.
you're the troony
I don't know, why are you like this?
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960683526/posthistory/
why is your bait so shit?
What bait queer?
The same tired ass polshit that's been the same bait everyone uses since 2014.
Abelard, please put this rabble in its place by informing him that i fricked his mom.
I really want to play it, but i generally don't enjoy big walls of text in games. Is the writing good? %-wise how much reading is there per hour? Please convince me that it is not as bad as I imagine 🙁
If you don't like reading then this isn't the game for you. I'm not trying to be hostile, but that's just how it is.
Thanks for the different takes, frens. I'll give the game a shot.
Hope I wont kill another studio by doing so
I don't like walls of text either, but sometimes the story clicks and you don't mind.
You guys trying to force your way into the genre gave us the simplified ARPG craze and the death of bioware so please leave.
No we will impose AI voice acting on all future CRPGs by spaming steam forums twitter and plebbit that we have better things to do than spend 80% of playtime reading
frick voice acting, it's useless shit for zoomers
by the time the actors finishes reading the line i'm done reading the text twice
frick zoomers
I find the voice acting in crpgs annoying because I've usually finished reading the text myself before the voice over is halfway done
why even bother responding to an obvious troll. no one that's actually a fan of crpgs wants ai voice acting and ai written bullslop
Hey guys.
Just wanted to pop in to point out that human blood would make for a bad red paint because the hemoglobin in your blood, which makes it red, turns into methaemoglobin as it dries, turning it into a rusty brown.
: Torment contains 1.2 million words
Nobody from future generations are ever going to be playing this game. You're fine with that, and you're not interested in additional sales for that game, I'm fine with that.
So what are you whiinging about?
Do modern schools no longer require zoomies and alphies to read? Did your schools not have libraries?
A book is an object filled with nothing but wall to wall text. This must frighten the zoomie who quails before a mere paragraph.
>WAH WAH I NEED SOMEONE TO READ TEXT FOR ME
Get out of my hobby, moron. Go eat glue somewhere else.
We do need that, especially for modern games that have lots of text, you have no excuse in current year to not implementing that.
None of that is relevant, good a.i. narration/voice acting will make your game more popular on twitch, rather that relying on autistic necjbeards whose reading skills make everybody's grandparents cry.
Nobody wants it to be popular with drooling twitch morons like you. It's not for you.
>I'm sure Owlcat isn't interested in sales and exposure.
Owlcat need to stop hiring morons like these.
If it appeals to dumb shits like you it loses appeal with genre fans like me, and eventually dies like Bioware and Bethesda.
Optional DLC, moron. You can keep the main game with 0 voicing if you would like.
How about a revolutionary idea.
A.I voice acting as an option in the options menu.
Without it being a DLC sold separately.
Wrong quote. I'm not opposing any of this, the other guy is the one opposing you. Reserve your snarky for him.
That's development time and budget wasted on building a crutch for stupids to get past the first barrier of entry. Then they'll get stuck at the next barrier, skills/talents numbers, and demand that be simplified too. Then you end up with 'mash A to see particle effects' trash like inquisition.
Just walk away.
mandalore review within a month
He said it was going to be at least a year until he makes a video on it.
Why play it now when you could wait a while and enjoy it when it isn't a buggy mess?
Owlcat community managers are assblasted because this is legitimate constructive criticism that can be implemented in future patches.
But they are doubling down on full denial mode and don't accept any for of constructive criticism.
>your game is shit if I have to read!
Yeah, very constructive criticism, and I'm sure it's only aimed at Owlcat and not thousands of other games too.
>Yeah, very constructive criticism
It is though. Livestream platforms are free advertisement and exposure of your game. And you deliberately choose to handycap yourself in that aspect, it means you are literally moronic.
funny how there are so many posts opposing the people who complain about walls of text
yet nobody is actually discussing the content of these walls of text
Everyone talking about the game is in the other thread, moron shitposter.
This is your containment zone.
I'm taking the bait on purpose to amuse myself. There's a real thread up elsewhere.
>Everyone says BG3 is the best CRPG ever and gameplay is good
>Every anon saying Rogue Trader is trash and the gameplay is awful
I'm now seeing a correlation between genuine people and actual shills.
lmao this pretty much describes owlcat from the beginning. The entire franchise has been lined with morons screeching for more dumbed down combat and everything being voiced because apparently reading is extremely hard.
>apparently reading is extremely hard.
Yeah keep criticising your customers instead of improving yourself. That will show them!
You're not a customer, filtered moron sama.
>When in doubt, Deny! that will show them!
I'd prefer the budget went to things other than voice acting.
I want a game, not a movie.
>I'd prefer the budget went to things other than voice acting.
All the more reason to implement a.i. Thank's for defeating your own argument.
Voice actors are the expensive option in the long run. A.i. is a 1 time cost.
>Thank's
>A.i.
>1 time
You really are a dumb moron. Thank god you've been filtered.
>Gets butthurt over spelling errors on the internet
Sometimes 'stupid' is an insult, sometimes it's just a sad fact.
You're the actual moronic one for thinking people don't know the spelling of simple words.
Whatever man, you're the one who has to spend the rest of your life with your shit tier brain.
That's not an argument, you were legitimately moronic.
I'm not making an argument. This is your lot in life, there's nothing to be done.
It was neither a valid argument nor a valid reply, you were moronic.
See, there it is: you say 'were' moronic. You only see the word as an insult, not as a permanent state of being. RIP.
Hours later, this moron is still butthurt
Fifty years from now you'll still have a hard time reading and writing.
The butthurt owlcuck pretends any of that even matters in current year, let alone in 50 years
Has any game developer implemented AI voice acting? I can fully understand a smallish studio like owlcat not wanting to lead the charge on this.
The alternative would be to borrow someone else's voice acting a.i.
Just feed it your walls of text, and store the audio files.
The finals has all AI voice acting, and no one is happy about it
You are talking about a game which sold many times better than rogue trader.
I don't think implementing AI voice acting would help rogue trader sell more copies.
Realistically It could definitely prevent refunds. And make the livestreams of those games more popular.
Frick off with your Livestreams
No frick you loser, you ran out of argument s a long time ago.
Your mother ran out of oxygen while you were in the womb you homosexual zoomer.
That's right Owlcuck keep insulting your customers.
L2Read moron.
I refuse. You just keep paying for those voice actors like the cuck you are.
You're not a customer.
You very obviously hate the game anyways, you have shown nothing but contempt for the dev and their fans.
>this guy wants to help sales of the game
>THIS IS OBVIOUSLY CONTEMPT
I am sweaty, I am mad and I'm not even ashamed to admit I only could do this with a bizzaro exploit that skips his first turn.To say that my own build was filtered into sewers is an understatement.
Why can't conservatives read?
these games being less accessible is what keeps them good, they're pleasing the kickstart backers instead of normie zoomers
>Low sales GOOD
>High sales bADD
Sales to morons who can't read are bad.
Yeah let's hope Owlcucks go bankrupt.
>>Low sales GOOD
>>High sales bADD
literally yes
they kickstart their games, we back, we get the game we want, that's it. If some normies come up way later and buy it that's not a problem, but if they start changing the game to capture normie market then we end up with casual shit like bg3
I agree brother. The day Owlvat is out of business, we all win.
That will teach the Normies!
warhammer doomed to never have a good game lmao...
This anon doomed to live out the only life he will ever have as an idiot.
okay fine, Return of Reckoning was kinda fun
>This makes zoomie Gankerirgins shit and piss themselves.
Black Library are actually clever and provide audio books as an option.
Unlike you moronic Owlcuck shills.
>Amerigoblins when they see a text longer than a twitter post
People used to joke about average modern consumers of media only ever reading one book (Harry Potter), but apparently even those are extreme outliers in the general population of homosexual americanus.
The problem is you literally have no other argument other than you desire your game to be unpopular and have low sales.
If general sales were the only focus of something, then there would have been no products with any individuality moron, just a conveyor of perfect solutions for marketing problem for selling A Game, which all look like each other and appeal to no one in particular. Unfortunately too many literal brain damaged morons still can't get it that niche sales can be consistently successful business strategy. Problem is when said brain damaged morons get into decision making centers, this never ends good for sales.
>>If general sales were the only focus of something
Nobody asked them to be, moron.
Post that I was replying to literally did lmao. This game is perfectly suitable for niche of people who completed their school education and for whom reading text is not a grueling feat of endurance. I know, hard to conceive it can be like this.
>>Post that I was replying to literally did lmao
No it didn't moron. It only called you out for being moronic for thinking low sales is a virtue.
You're coping hard because you have been forced into the position of favouring low sales and bankruptcy.
Last time I checked that studio was doing great. There are lots of literate people capable of reading in the 1st world, it's a solid market. Again, I understand that it's hard to believe for 3rd world brown American.
>>Last time I checked that studio was doing great.
They doubled their employee expenses, but failed to raise the bar the sales. that means less profits.
>raise the bar the sales
Stupid is forever
I Don't care, you're still moronic.
citation needed
It's on their website, way back machine documented various points in time when they said the were 60 and eventually 120.
No, your link to wayback machine, which should be accompanied with your sourced evaluation of what kind of employees those are, because not all of those are paid identically, and next to that, your calculation for their profits, with sources used for that. You're making pretty big statements here for a moronic amerimongrel who gets intimidated by a paragraph of text, such big statements need to be sourced accordingly for anyone who isn't an animal like you to take them seriously and not as something you have just made up.
Yes homosexual, you'll be writing a fricking paper here, and that is entirely on you, because you are the one making statement that you expect other people who don't know you to believe. That's how it works among literate humans who can read.
>>No, your link to wayback machine,
Nope, it's up to you if you don't care about verifying my claim. You lost the argument, loser.
Their pricing is moronic, especially when they already have season pass bullshit. The price alone is probably putting a lot of people off the game which would otherwise sell significantly better.
>Rogue Trader does not have low sales.
Doesn't change the fact that you morons argued in favour of and desire of low sales.
You got masterfully baited into that position because you are unable to handle criticism and have to pretend your employer can do no wrong.
Wall of text is kino, cuckolding is not
>Trying here because people are having autistic lore discussion in the other thread
lmao
I think they failed at translating the Rogue Trader setting to gameplay.
It's just another boring dungeon crawler with lame writing.
Rogue Traders shouldn't be fighting trash mobs and picking up garbage loot.
It doesn't.
The game is basically just a dungeon crawler like all fricking gay ass squad-based crpgs.
Rogue Trader is about being an enigmatic larger-than-life figure.
If they just wanted lots of combat they should've done Only War.
Hated Pathfinder games, loved BG3, will I like this?
I also enjoyed PoE, Tyranny, DOS
owlkeks had 2 choices:
-implement argenta romance
-implement voice acting
They chose lower sales.
Poor babbies that need their stories to be read to them. Getting filtered by a third grade reading level, imagine outing yourself like this.
Told you
>Game is overall worse, buggier, and less fun than it was in beta
how does Owlcat manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory EVERY time?
costs too much for a digital only game. ill wait for the inevitable drop or crack, not paying $70 dollarydoos for the priviledge of downloading files.
Torrents are already up for it. They were out on the day of release.
>Is that a... PARAGRAPH?! AAAAAAAAAA NOOOOOOOOOOO I'M GOING INSANE, HELP ME ADDERALL
Is this actual binary to be translated or just gibberish? Either way, I don't feel like figuring this out. It's dumb.
It's actual binary. All it says is 'manual configuration', didn't bother translating the options, just click each one until something happens, you don't get locked out of anything.
Friend zoning Cassia for the elf.
Impregnate her. Platonically of course.
So is Heinrix like living proof that a psyker can go through the sanctioning process on Terra and not come out of it looking completely fricked up? Like he doesn't even have the head tubes or any visible implants.
Inquisitors are packing better implants and bionics in general. It's the difference between a 2001 Nokia and a 2023 smartphone.
Fairly sure if he's romanced he spills the beans on that front and by the time he was brought into the Inquisition he barely looked human.
biomancy
>"When my family disowned me, they also removed all the Knight pilot implants from my body. So I lost an eye and gained some nerve damage.""
>""Xavier didn't care that I was a maimed freak — he needed me for my sorcery, nothing more.
Why didn't Heinrix's family just kill him?
I doubt there's many laws protecting psykers.
It's a wonder the black ships have anyone to collect at all.
psykers are necessary, Big E gotta eat, astropaths have to be constantly replaced, need to buff up the IG.
Obviously. But every planet could just kill all their psykers as soon as they're discovered with no punishment.
They have to secure psykers to tithe them to a black ship, unless they're causing havoc and are killed in self defense.
I have to say, I am really happy that they let you buy good gear with profit factor instead of making the player pawn off the crap they found to pay for their gear despite running a barony, like in the Pathfinder games.
can you play as a space chud?
It seems I'm building my character wrong. I made a soldier, tried focusing on agi, int and shooting powress, but I can't hit shit, and when I do I don't do much damage. The only party member worse than me is the sister of battle, ironically, which also suffers from the same fate, even though I was trying to be more focused with her. Should I have just gone all in on shooting?
Is Idira shit? All of her skills seem to rely on int but she has base 30.
Also, please, please, please respond
I would build Idira as a psyker rather than as an operative
need to aply some basic buffs on them.
pasqual machine code thing, voice of command, inspire from tactician and so on.
once you get more talents they'll become beasts.
where do I get extractums, none of the factions are selling them anymore
ok give me one (1) good reason to not shoot her
Let's be honest, there's literally no sane reason not to let white goddess Argenta blow her brains out beyond the meta of knowing it's a video game and you'll be able to get a good outcome
Operator buffs are handy.
Already have Pasqal for that
too late
Letting the Sister of Battle have her fun, based Anon. The Emperor protects.
She has a nice "redemption" story has a nice moment later on with the RT
Honestly?
Idira is probably one of your more useful party members. If you haven't played the game through yet, she provides good forewarnings about what's going to happen and Divination Psykers are arguably some of the most useful in the game. She clearly outshines Heinrix as your "team wizard."
Heinrix makes a decent vanguard with his self heals
Anon... wall of texts are amazing when well written and so far I would say they nailed it.
But sadly to enjoy such things, you need not to be analphabet and not have aphantasia and now we know both things are actually very common with normies.
is combined melee/ranged archmilitant feasible? it feels like i'm split between too many stats
>ws, bs, agi, per, some str for power armor, some tgh so i don't explode
Possibly, there is that one perk you can pick where their weapon skill buffs their ballistic skill and vice versa, which should help keep the stats from being spread too thin. Honestly though I made Argenta and Archmillitant and still kept her purely ranged focused and it seems to be working out pretty well so far. You still up getting quite a few stacks of versatility just spamming Wildfire, and after awhile it makes her shots hit like a truck.
>have to alt-tab to google a word I don't know
Please be patient, I'm moronic.
Are the evil routes the easy one in this game? Is that why the evil options are the most popular?
why is it called wounds and not just hp? isn't having a lot of wounds supposed to be a bad thing?
Because thats gw vernacular.
Is there anything to do with this thing beyond making the antidot? I was hoping for something a bit more meaningful.
There's two sets of consumables you can make, and another set of useless reagents. That's it really.
Is there more ingredients later on the tower then? I feel like I tried most combinations already.
Later? no it's all there
>Play unfair
>It's actually unfair (unavoidable 100 hit rates)
>Bump down 1 ONE difficulty
>Game becomes a cakewalk
Did they accidentally double the unfair mods again or something?
If they are using the TT rules then that sounds about right depending on what attributes or traits/skills they are adding to the enemies. It was a problem with the TT too as the game was never designed with proper scalability in mind since the original Dark Heresy TTRPG that started this all off was basically a throw away product with no considerations for future expansion.
I saw 80% more health and didn't even bother looking towards unfair. No sponges for me, thank you.
You can always adjust it yourself. I run it on daring but with the 10% boost to skill rolls from normal.
but cheevos.
Jesus the fishes romance is cute.
She reads a book on courtship then just keeps acting coy
Made Pasqal a bounty hunter. Fricking all of these talents rely on perception, which he doesnt have
You're supposed to precog what skills will actually be useful and necessary for that exact moment in time but also the skills you will need to buy before they become unavailable because Owlcat is allergic to build experimentation (Two games where difficulty turns off respec, one game where you can brick your game if you respec too much).
Basically, they're fricking buttholes.
>one game where you can brick your game if you respec too much
What?
Respeccing in RT costs you profit factor. There are a limited numbers of way to raise profit factor.
What? did they make that the ONLY thing that COSTS profit factor?
You can also lose profit factor from poor decision making. For the most part, yes respeccing will be one of the biggest things lowering profit factor
>oh btw we prebuilt these characters for you.
th-thanks.
>Yea, and since they removed the "spend profit factor, regen it over time" mechanic because it scared and confused normalgays, we have to deal with the set limit of Reputation based resource stations and limited profit factor.
Wait, PF worked that way in beta
Why they frick didn't they keep it! That makes far more sense!
I haven't even been told about profit factor. Does that mean I'm safe as long as the mechanic hasn't been introduced?
SO THAT'S WHAT LOWERED IT
Fricking I didn't notice it!
I mean just go read some book instead of reading this slop
>Planescape: Torment contains 1.2 million words
Which is a fairly average number for crpgs. BG3's dialogue script has 2 million words.
>Space combat hard
>Spawns you last in initiative surrounded by 3 chaos pirates
>They nuke your shields and armor turn one
I mean I still won, but jesus.
Space combat just makes me wish I was playing Gothic Armada.
Especially when the frickers NEVER let me ram them.
Talking on higher difficulties, of course.
Reading ? In my CRPG? THIS IS MADNESS
The level of social moronation is staggering nowadays
What sane person would actually bring that thing into their ship? I get she's a character so I should say yes, but that's dumb. This quest was dumb. I feel like I should just kill everyone to loot their bodies but that'd also be dumb.
You're not paying attention.
You cannot travel to other star systems without a navigator. The previous one died in the prologue.
I know that. The old man is also a navigator. The obvious choice would be number 3, but then I'd be down a party member. It's a gameplay vs common sense situation.
huh?
>I know that. The old man is also a navigator
He's already nearly dead by the time you find him.
Pretty sure it was said we could cure him but he refuses because he wants to go down with the station.
40k's cringe bro.
You're telling me that what bothers you about this situation is that you're NOT being railroaded into a choice?
I did read that, I know they were doing experiments and other nasty shit.
>One is a dying old man
>One is a young yet possibly dangerous
If you actually read what you found you would learn Cassia was only one of many causes of death.
>In what universe would her be the better choice?
In 40k.
Her entire kin are all freaks of nature and irreplaceable. Aming the 3 options in game she is the best because:
- not dying
- not sinister backstabber.
>What sane person would actually bring that thing into their ship?
If it makes you feel better, you can wait until the Drukhari have stolen the sun so that you don't have a choice in the matter.
Lore Question: How are the Dark Eldar able to steal stars?
They have the technology
homie play the game you dumb homie. read homiem open a book and your eyes homie, Stop relying on welfare and your moron-disability checks homie. Get a job homie.
It's ancient eldar tech that the dark eldar still know how to use. Commoragh is powered by a stolen sun.
>How are the Dark Eldar able to steal stars?
Darkies are able to steal anything
That's why you have the option of not taking her. The only reason anyone would take her is because they aren't playing by the Imperium's typical rules, which is pretty common amongst Rogue Traders and those living on the fringes of Imperial space in general.
>training wheels are off now in act 2
>can't use Abelard in to auto win
Frick, it's off to the respec mines for me.
wat?
Is this bugged? I don't think she's replaying to what I said.
She thinks the only possible reason you'd be asked her that is that other people have communicated she's dangerous.
Eh, that entire dialog still felt weird to me. She went from mad to happy to mad again between two dialog choices.
"Oh I'm so happy with these books!" "Oh frick you for asking me how I am" "Oh but this place has so many wonders I had never seen!" "Oh but everyone left because they hate me"
I can't tell if it's buggy or if she's just having a woman moment,
Woman moment.
You’re not asking her how she is. That’s Line 1. Line 2 is “I hope you’ve had enough time to get your shit under control”
She's a woman AND a psyker AND a mutant.
the line is very abrasive, it's fine.
Reading in crpgs is so outdated thing , no one would've played bg3 or disco Elysium final cut if they don't have fully voice narration
AHEM
Abelard, please introduce my entry in this thread
How buggy is it? Normal CRPG buggy but playable or wait a year?
Wait a year for full voice narration
have a nice day.
Thanks.
So is the game/writing good?
I liked WotR in general but I don't know anything about warhammer
I haven't played wotr but from 40k persepective it's perfect
Sounds good, i'll give it a try
Its mid at best go play bg3
I think at this point I'm just adding that word to my filter list. I've never seen a single valuable post incorporate that word into a sentence
>BG3
>The game where there somehow is two super special party members with bombs in their chest
Gale alone makes me want to vomit. He might not be a Gary Stu but his background is definitely the "that guy" at the table.
So how buggy is it compared to release WOTR? That game was borderline unplayable
you wouldn't get it
Fricking bullshit first space fight you get is 3 pirates all launching torpedoes, multiple attacks from the same gun per turn, hit through your shields, and you have no upgrades
How do I trigger Tide of Excellence
>I have to... READ? AAAAIIIIIEEEEE TIKTOKMAN SAVE ME!!!
The franchise has like a million books. Why out yourself as illiterate?
Why would anyone spend their limited amount of time on this earth reading this slop when you can read a book?
How many gays and minorities are in it?
80% of the characters
All the people that bought it are part of the lgbtq community.
>gays
The cold trader chick swings both ways but you can blow her head off after her very first quest
The female Eldar can be woo'd by either gender but no direct sex because she's an alien you pervert, and you can blow her head off the moment you meet her
The male Eldar is a hardcore sadomasochist for either gender and you are actively encouraged to blow his head off
>minorities
First chick already mentioned is some ambiguous shade of brown
The rogue psyker is full black but once again her whole thing is "how many times can I frick up before the player blows my head off"
If you haven't picked up on it by now, you can kill like 90% of the cast
The game? 1
This thread? All 2 of the discord raiders
Ganker shilling this game hard, its just another boring reading crpg
Test
40k warhammer looks mighty gay.
So does homeworld choice have any reactivity in dialogue? Went for forge world hoping that I'll get extra fluff with Pasqal, AdMech NPCs etc etc.
I just started the game and tried to make a badass pirate captain. Why do all the dialogue lines make me sound like a dumb ass b***h who doesn't know anything? Is the whole game like this or just the prologue?
pretty much just the prologue and even then by the end of it you have your try-hard moments.
Why the frick game with 2000s graphics makes my PC roar like a tractor engine and why loading times are so long?
Are russians mining buttcoins with my cogitator?
am i missing "return to voidship" button somewhere
do i really have to walk through 4 maps and 5 loading screens to get to the ship
I'll give you a (you) seen as (you) are so desperate.
Complaining about text in a crpg is like complaining about guns in Call of Duty.
