>an insanely difficult arcade game
You don't even need to reach the end, 5 million points is only two checkpoints in. PC has more cars on the road, yeah, but that's about it.
>Fantasy Zone >Hard
Just buy the 1000 point engine the instant you get to the shop and then double bombs if you have anything else. Then just play it carefully and don't rush because the #1 killer in that game is enemies spawning right on the edge of the screens running into you. The two bosses it takes you to reach its point threshold are also really not that bad, and this is coming from someone who is bad at shmups.
I don't know if it was just me, but Virtual On just didn't work for me on Kiwami 2. I don't mean it was hard, I mean I could not figure out how the controls worked.
I've even played the full arcade game, so I knew the concept. I still don't know if it was me or a bad port.
yeah if you're starting now doing the entire series and plan on 100% everything, there's too much time doing the exact same minigames across the series. just not worth it. do it in K0 or 1 and then safe to ignore going forward imo.
unless you enjoy 100% shit like mahjong, racing, etc. in a million titles then go aheaad
Anyone else notice that Ganon does that tough guy Yakuza sneer in TotK? It is a very distinct thing that "tough guys" do in japanese media, but it is very hard to describe with words.
it's like sex, sometimes you gotta do what is right and fill that troonyhole even though it stinks like you opened your fridge after letting all the food inside rot for a couple of years
someone on discord helped me to learn it and now after just 6+ months iam expert 2 in majsoul and have gotten number 1 rank in the mahjong tournament in yakuza 3
its alot of learning by doing and you will grasp more and more of the game the longer you play
It’s all RNG, dominos is easy, getting five cards AND win blackjack three times was a total b***h. I suggest you stick to the vanilla rules by the Horseshoe Overlook/Chapter 2 camp or Emerald Ranch dominos tables, just match the ends of the tiles until you run out.
how do i stay cool playing ranked? i always get so upset and wish death/cancer upon my enemies if they call riichi before or after me
i also always do boxing motions like i just punched someone whenever i ron
>try to learn Mahjong >initially get the hang of it >game spits in my face and tells me I’m a stupid fricking idiot >all of what I “learned” is apparently wrong and I keep losing
WHY IS MAHJONG SO HARD TO COMPREHEND? POKER WAS EASY AS SHIT TO LEARN.
It's easy. Literally the only additional rule is get a Yaku, aka don't open your hand unless you know it's worth something. You obviously don't so don't open your hands
Yeah, most people haven't these days. But those are the western analogs. The best I can tell you is once you start playing you start picking it up quick. You just have to sort of start doing it and fail a bunch and pay attention.
How do I get good at Shogi though?
The Yakuza 0 steam community used to have a pretty good guide to basic shogi. Shogis probably harder to learn the specifics of since I don't know if it's really played outside of Japan.
I learned to play mahjong because of Yakuza thinking it would be a one off but now I have over 1000 hours in Mahjong Soul and I watched every season of Saki even though I am a white male.
In case you didn't know, you just got into a 25 minutes very important unpausable cutsecene, with a battle section against thugs for 20 minutes after than, followed by a boss with 5 health bars that will block all your attacks and will take 25 minutes to beat.
I hope you have spare time and saved before this 😉
Don't care she is pretty. I hoped she was a playable character with ichiban, it would have been extremely fun having her working as the cookie lady or in exchange of the granny (which i never liked, it's a filler character for the sake of having one).
Haruka's section of the game is funny and I like that it's just an excuse to do a bunch of random mini games. I also think it's funny that for her IF8, they didn't bother doing an animation of her getting knocked over so when she gets hit she fricking A poses.
i doubt anybody played shogi without using a bot a to win.
OP turn back now, this is coming from someone whose 100% Y0.
You may think that mahjong is the hardest aspect but its a puddle compared to the amount of bs you have to pull out your ass to complete.
the catfigths, god lord why the frick is this shit a requirement

>Oh, you chose to side with New Yevon instead of the Youth League? Haha, too fricking bad buddy, enjoy not getting your 100% save file until your next NG+ playthrough
The only one I ever 100% was Yakuza 5 and it burnt me out on the series for a good while not because it was tough to get 100% in that one, just because it takes so long. That was the ps3 version btw, anybody trying to 100% any of the PS4 versions of 3,4 or 5 is going to get fricked in the ass by the botch job they did with the pool minigame.
I regret learning mahjong, now every couple of months I get this craving to play some games even though I hate it. At least /mjg/ has friendlies I can use to sate that urge.
>I wonder if there's a strip mahjong jav out there
I recommend MTV-006. Be warned it's an actual mahjong tournament, without any sex until the last 5 minutes.

>it's the same engine
but it isn't?
0 and kiwami 1 are the ps3 engine, 6, kiwami 2, and everything after that are the dragon engine which is dogshit and the only game it even looked good in was 6
>Its the same fricking engine
They aren't.
1 and 2 are the PS2 engine.
Kenzan, 3, 4, and Dead Souls are the first PS3 engine.
5, Ishin, 0, K1, and FotNS are the second, reworked PS3 engine.
6, K2, Judgment, 7, and Lost Judgment are the Dragon Engine.
Ishin Kiwami is on the Unreal Engine.
Black Panthers 1 and 2 are on whatever engine Def Jam ran on to my understanding.
Online is Unity I think?
Technically 6, K2, and Judgment are the "first" iteration of the Dragon Engine while Judgment Remastered, 7, and Lost Judgment are the "second" iteration of the Dragon Engine because it has optimizations and reworked lighting the first three games did not have.
Lost Judgment runs considerably better than Judgment, this isn't even something that needs to be debated. Judgment was mid 20s on a base PS4 and even had framerate drops on a PS4 Pro while LJ was pretty much a solid 30 even on base platforms.
PC performance is a whole other beast in and unto itself but it absolutely was optimized. We also know 6 to K2 was heavily optimized because it got rid of the screen tearing completely and stayed more or less close to 30 as much as possible compared to 6 which even post-patch occasionally screen tears and drops to the 20s on a base PS4.
u gotta play it yourself moron if anything they only explain a few things about it in the first episode not like youll understand anything about it if you keep watching
when you corrected with akagi i thought you meant yakuza and not kaiji
kaiji has a mahjong arc too so its reasonable to assume you watched akagi beforehand to understand kaijis mahjong arc
homosexual
I can't get out of bronze in mahjong soul because these Black person cats keep doing shitty 1-2han hands until the last round where they'll inexplicably have a sanbaiman waiting on a single tile in their hand
I'm so fricking sick of the chinese
change your hand then and learn about tile efficiency
if you want we can play together and i can give you some tips on what and what not to discard
t. expert 2 player
I farmed 20(or 30?) instawin items for Mahjong in Judgment 2 instead of learning Mahjong to 100% it lol
Matter of fact every time I tried to "learn" Mahjong I started playing worse than when I was just putting down tiles randomly
If you just want the completion list requirements then just Youtube the name of you game and "Challenge 1" then repeat it five times. This works for everything but LJ because it requires you to win actual matches. There is a cheat item you can buy that plays it for you in LJ though, otherwise you can just make the AI play against a grandmaster AI using something like Shogidokoro with the Spear Shogi AI.
If you want to learn the actual game? Good luck, it's the hard version of chess. If you know chess you know generally how to play, but it's got different pieces and you can use pieces you captured and place them wherever on the board.
>want to save ALL survivors and complete all side-missions the the game has to offer >"hahah here's this annoying poker minigame where you can't save the survivors until you beat them at poker. also the opponents are cheating and the rules are poorly explained in-game so frick you if you've never played poker before. also you gotta do this minigame two times and you better pray to the RNG gods that the opponents fold soon because otherwise you'll spend an entire in-game day playing it and you'll fail to solve the main campaign which is on a timer. also the first time you play you need to have 100.000 in cash for some reason. have fun and frick you"
Yes I'm still mad all this time later and no I still don't know how to play fricking poker. I still never saved those annoying 3 poker shits.
I played the switch version on emulator a couple tiles
it's pretty good and there's a ridiculous number of rule variations but it's all in japanese so I don't know what they are
the graphics are pretty bad though which is impressive considering how low the bar is
I didn't have the latest version so I never got the see the UM characters either
Mahjong is pretty easy to learn. Japanese mahjong has a bunch of additional rules that make it a joyless slog to learn and play. It’s like those homosexuals that play monopoly with a million house rules because a million different needless additional rules totally makes it better bro.
I donno man there are some stuff that barely comes up but shit like furiten and riichi are super important additions
It can be a slog to learn but more because people recommend guides that show everything at once which isn't a good way to learn anything
this arcade ones are the most difficult
also frick golf in yakuza 3 and karaoke ones in kiwami 2
Gotta be honest I thought golf was pretty fun
well I did the substory for it fine anyway, the completion requirement is pretty tough though I did do it for Y4
I remember being a kid before the internet was like this thinking I was the most autistic person in the world. But in reality I'm not even autistic enough to entertain the idea of 100%ing a Yakuza game, there are whole layers of autism beyond where I am
Yakuza 100% are so fricking annoying because it starts out easy bit ALWAYS creeps upon you
>eat at every restaurant >do every sidequest >do a whole bunch of minigames >after 50 hours find one minigame that’s extremely time consuming, has gambling bullshit or something else
I wouldnt even mind difficulty, but I am not gonna savesuck some chicken race on ps4 that takes 5 minutes to load
Or even worse when it’s something missable like in Yakuza 0 you picked the small box from Michael Jackson, oops you missed out on the enemy radar and now cannot grind money fast! Better start a clean savefile or grind money 100 times slower!!!
I got the enemy radar despite not checking the right box and got it with Majima as well so I know there's another way to get it
can't remember how though
Majima has it guaranteed from a substory but he can't transfer it to Kiryu.
Kiryu's is permanently missable for the playthrough if you choose the wrong box.
For pre-DE baseball I don't think I'd ever be able to do baseball on console but mouse controls make it very easy, for timing you just realise you wait for the character's animation to change
For DE baseball it's just practice and in judgment onward there are ways to make it easier
Majima has it guaranteed from a substory but he can't transfer it to Kiryu.
Kiryu's is permanently missable for the playthrough if you choose the wrong box.
damnit I SWEAR I chose the wrong box but got it as Kiryu anyway
Can't really prove it unfortunately
okay looking at it I think I realise where I'm mistaken about this
I am misremembering where I got a bad item from the first miracle johnson substory and thought that one had an encounter finder
it doesn't and only the second one has it and I chose right for that one by complete luck
Baseball is a joke unless you're talking about the Black Panthers or 1. If you're talking about the Black Panthers then I understand and if you're talking about 1 I understand because of the much stricter hit timing.
Pre-DE baseball you just pay attention either to your character or your bat and then when the character flinches/tenses up you swing. If you need to aim on a controller use your left hand's pointer finger and thumb and grip it like you're punching for a much easier time.
For the expert matches load up an easier game, tear up a small piece of paper and tape the top half of it to where the crosshair is, use something like a fine tip permanent marker or a pen and another piece of paper under the paper (So you don't mark up your TV/monitor) to mark where the center of the crosshair is, and then tape it down fully on the bottom half.
Post-DE baseball is a complete joke and no person on the planet should have trouble with it. You have like three times the lenience on home runs to the point that a ball can fly past your bat and count as a home run, there's only around six throw locations you ever need to learn in any game, and every single throw is predetermined so if you jot that down or look up a list you'll have everything you need for it.
FotNS Death Batting is only hard because of how finicky the home run point is and how you have to charge for it to count as a home run. Once you get the charge time down then it's just a matter of writing down or memorizing locations because they're also predetermined, and then muscle memorying where you aim for that hit. You have to get eight out of ten bikes as home runs for 100% as well.
Golf sucks, has always sucked, and will always suck. It's a garbage sport and gives us even worse minigames. Mini golf is best.
For pre-DE baseball I don't think I'd ever be able to do baseball on console but mouse controls make it very easy, for timing you just realise you wait for the character's animation to change
For DE baseball it's just practice and in judgment onward there are ways to make it easier

damnit I SWEAR I chose the wrong box but got it as Kiryu anyway

You can't choose the wrong box and get it as Kiryu, in the second substory you either get the Encounter Finder (Black) or one of the shirts you can buy from Don Quijote (White).
okay looking at it I think I realise where I'm mistaken about this
I am misremembering where I got a bad item from the first miracle johnson substory and thought that one had an encounter finder
it doesn't and only the second one has it and I chose right for that one by complete luck
Just learn it, don't be a fricking pussy.
Actually it's more like:
>looks like you'll have to master OutRun, an insanely difficult arcade game, but now the controls are super slippery and you'll crash into everything
I couldn't even get to the first checkpoint. Gave up on getting the girls, same with space harrier
I fricking hate the arcade games, that one in particular
Just change gear when you hear the noise
Sounds like a skill issue tbhfamalam

annoying, not hard
Outrun is quite reasonable, Fantasy Zone though, on the other hand...
Both are easy. Is yakuza 0 the only one you tried to complete?
I don't know if it was just me, but Virtual On just didn't work for me on Kiwami 2. I don't mean it was hard, I mean I could not figure out how the controls worked.

Nah.
>main story
>substories
That’s all the content I give a frick about Yakuza. Until Y5 and the remakes where the side questlines are also pretty good.
yeah if you're starting now doing the entire series and plan on 100% everything, there's too much time doing the exact same minigames across the series. just not worth it. do it in K0 or 1 and then safe to ignore going forward imo.
unless you enjoy 100% shit like mahjong, racing, etc. in a million titles then go aheaad
Anyone else notice that Ganon does that tough guy Yakuza sneer in TotK? It is a very distinct thing that "tough guys" do in japanese media, but it is very hard to describe with words.
as it happens, Kiryu never does it.
only the bad guys do it
Ichiban does it
there is an example of it in the trailer for the new Yakuza game.. The kid who is the boss does it.
It's the "Korra omaera"
>racing is required for 100%
>devs were on meth making driving controls
It's fun.
>its another turn 1 ron episode
AAIIIIEEE
Turn back while you can
Check your image moron you posted the edit that says poker
mahjong is a glorified poker, dipshit
I still piss and cum everytime I think of the time I got a green penis hand on like the 5th turn
What kind of homosexual would want to 100% a game for any reason other than being happy to play 100% of it's content?
it's like sex, sometimes you gotta do what is right and fill that troonyhole even though it stinks like you opened your fridge after letting all the food inside rot for a couple of years
stop overcomplicating things. the fact of the matter is that most gamers have a form of OCD that compels them.
No you do not, I don't know how trannies made you believe you owe them sex
owe? we're talking about the completionist mindset here
dude what
What the frick
Mahjong is the ultimate filter, good luck.
someone on discord helped me to learn it and now after just 6+ months iam expert 2 in majsoul and have gotten number 1 rank in the mahjong tournament in yakuza 3
its alot of learning by doing and you will grasp more and more of the game the longer you play
why waste so much energy learning a stupid game
its fun i even showed it to some irl friends and were playing majsoul together now
Does the average player really look like that?
Had this exact same experience in RDR2 when you have to learn dominoes to get all the gambler challenges

Mahjong doesn't give me much issue. Absolutely can't wrap my head around Shogi though.

It's not like poker is the reason. It's in the family of Bridge or Gin.

Many such cases.
You don't need to learn shit because throughout the game you get special items to cheat.
Based on this thread, I'm starting to think the Yakuza games are just an elaborate way to infect the world with Mahjong.
tbh id much rather just play majsoul friendlies with people from /vg/ than any other game at this point
dont know if i love or hate it
No, that would be FKMT manga
Those tiles are fricking huge
thanks for the input cyclops
In case you didn't know, you just got into a 25 minutes very important unpausable cutsecene, with a battle section against thugs for 20 minutes after than, followed by a boss with 5 health bars that will block all your attacks and will take 25 minutes to beat.
I hope you have spare time and saved before this 😉
>esc to stop cutscene or game
>put pc on suspension
>go to sleep
is not that hard
I had Baka Mitai stuck in my head when I saw this thread
Anyway Mahjong is a lot of fun, I'd recommend it
>He didn't learn mahjong playing Disney's Mulan the videogame for PS1
Lmao hahahahahhahahhhah
thats solitaire mahjong and not riichi mahjong
completly different
There are way worse minigames honestly.
i love playing yakuza 5 and walking as haruka to look at her hips
Yeah she was too sexy in 5 too bad they diched her. I hope she will come back in a future yakuza.
She's used goods now
don't give a frick you virgin
Don't care she is pretty. I hoped she was a playable character with ichiban, it would have been extremely fun having her working as the cookie lady or in exchange of the granny (which i never liked, it's a filler character for the sake of having one).
mee too
Haruka's section of the game is funny and I like that it's just an excuse to do a bunch of random mini games. I also think it's funny that for her IF8, they didn't bother doing an animation of her getting knocked over so when she gets hit she fricking A poses.
>those Running Girl segments
Mahjong is the easy one. It's fricking shogi that's tediously hard and the obscure ancient card games no one has heard of that make no sense
You do not need to 100% any game. It is a tedious waste of time.
It's part of the yakuza games. I can't not fill the cute list. total list rape.
Is Yakuza 0 the best Yakuza game ever?
Mahjong is piss easy. It's just poker with even bigger RNG.
Now Shogi can frick off.
i doubt anybody played shogi without using a bot a to win.
the catfigths, god lord why the frick is this shit a requirement
should I play yakuza 1 undub or kiwami 1 for first time?
Just play both, they both succeed in entirely different ways. It ends up being two widely different games held together by the same story.
Play the undub, then years later come back and play Kiwami and realize that it's garbage
K1 is a sequel to 0, it is not 1.
You either play 1 first or 0 first, K1 is not a 1:1 remake and you're not intended to play it like it is.
OP turn back now, this is coming from someone whose 100% Y0.
You may think that mahjong is the hardest aspect but its a puddle compared to the amount of bs you have to pull out your ass to complete.
Learn mahjong.
Yakuza 7 like a dragon mario kart was so fun i played nonstop till i did 100% in everything
>want to 100% a game
>99.8% complete
>no fricking clue what I missed
Pretty sure you’re not supposed to skip cutscenes. To unlock the final ending cutscene in the game.
>Oh, you chose to side with New Yevon instead of the Youth League? Haha, too fricking bad buddy, enjoy not getting your 100% save file until your next NG+ playthrough
The 100% ending is the worse ending anyway.
Frick mahjong and shogi. I'm doing a new game + in 5 and did all of the taxi missions and races. Gonna go and do everything from every character.
The only one I ever 100% was Yakuza 5 and it burnt me out on the series for a good while not because it was tough to get 100% in that one, just because it takes so long. I was playing Yakuza 0 and I hit a part of the game where I was doing fetch quests and just talking to random people and just burnt out
There is not ever a point in yakuza where you have to do substories.
And just doing the main story is pretty fast and has good pacing.
just learn it, it's fun
I would say shogi is way worse but almost every game lets you cheat it in some way
the first Judgment actually does have some mandatory side cases if you think that counts

If you know chess you know generally how to play, but it's got different pieces and you can use pieces you captured and place them wherever on the board.
>want to save ALL survivors and complete all side-missions the the game has to offer
>"hahah here's this annoying poker minigame where you can't save the survivors until you beat them at poker. also the opponents are cheating and the rules are poorly explained in-game so frick you if you've never played poker before. also you gotta do this minigame two times and you better pray to the RNG gods that the opponents fold soon because otherwise you'll spend an entire in-game day playing it and you'll fail to solve the main campaign which is on a timer. also the first time you play you need to have 100.000 in cash for some reason. have fun and frick you"
Yes I'm still mad all this time later and no I still don't know how to play fricking poker. I still never saved those annoying 3 poker shits.
>play through all yakuza games and not touch mahjong
>see this announced few days ago
guess im learning it
I played the switch version on emulator a couple tiles
it's pretty good and there's a ridiculous number of rule variations but it's all in japanese so I don't know what they are
the graphics are pretty bad though which is impressive considering how low the bar is
I didn't have the latest version so I never got the see the UM characters either
>120 characters
neat, though it costing money means people won't play it, sad
however it being touhou and on steam means people will just because of the franchise
Gotta be honest I thought golf was pretty fun
well I did the substory for it fine anyway, the completion requirement is pretty tough though I did do it for Y4
I remember being a kid before the internet was like this thinking I was the most autistic person in the world. But in reality I'm not even autistic enough to entertain the idea of 100%ing a Yakuza game, there are whole layers of autism beyond where I am
also frick icecream substory in yakuza3 I only get the easy one.
best substories ghosts ones. in yakuza 3 at least or the ones with the kids were pretty kino.
Mahjong is easy. I refuse to learn japanese necromancer simulator so I used a bot for shogi.
Mahjong was easy, but frick these fighting game cheevos, I just cheesed them all.
>frick these fighting game cheevos
those were as hard it seems, you have to get used to.
Best hand I ever had.
I'd be seething playing against that
Yakuza 100% are so fricking annoying because it starts out easy bit ALWAYS creeps upon you
>eat at every restaurant
>do every sidequest
>do a whole bunch of minigames
>after 50 hours find one minigame that’s extremely time consuming, has gambling bullshit or something else
Kiryu's is permanently missable for the playthrough if you choose the wrong box.
>noone has complained about the baseball or golf minigames yet
Fricking impossible...
>baseball
I just use those GameFAQ guides that tell you which square the ball will come in for each pitch
You can't choose the wrong box and get it as Kiryu, in the second substory you either get the Encounter Finder (Black) or one of the shirts you can buy from Don Quijote (White).
yeah see
>punching
Pinching. Grip it like you're pinching.
