Okay one do you know how wealthy people get off for being big time drug dealers? Second the point of having them invade Mexico is to have an American ability to mobilize the whole Army somewhere relatively close and not in the Middle East or Asia. And fleeing a border Nation from an naked Act of aggression was stopped any claims of Imperial for USA and also have a heavily but party in the conflict to do cool stuff with.Along with the chance to win some crazy Americans along for the light because they wanted to fight the dictator. And decided let's go to Mexico and do it.

It's more like politicians don't letting the army go full murder spree on narcos and other dissident groups.

      >"In many forms of combat between armed groups, about four people are injured for each person killed, according to an assessment of wars since the late 1970s by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Sometimes, the number of wounded is even higher."

      >But the body count in Mexico is reversed. The Mexican Army kills eight enemies for every one it wounds."

      >For the nation’s elite marine forces, the discrepancy is even more pronounced: The data they provide says they kill roughly 30 combatants for each one they injure."

I think it says more about the actual effectiveness of "just kill anyone I don't like" in the real world

          AKA, not very

The only country dumb enough to invade Mexico today is the US. Only we would be shortsighted enough to not see the danger of invading a country with every incentive to unify and form an unending, grueling, and catastrophic guerilla war if attacked by their hegemonic neighbor

A lot of soldiers leave and become narcs themselves, that's why they're so brutal.

Theres all kinds of soldiers inside those groups, but the whole stereotype originated with Los Zetas, because the origina 20 funding members were special forces trained in the School of the Americas in the 90s. So basically top notch elements by international standards, trained in all types of skills, including torture, working for a cartel as high members after that (the Gulf Cartel under the direction of Cárdenas Guillén), and finally creating their own Cartel. They started recruiting other special forces, then army and policemen, and finally (when they were taking over all the country) everyone interested in (the start of the downfall). But yeah, at their peak, with those original members involved, it was probably one of the scariest organizations ever, makes every other mob group look like a bunch of sissies

        >It's more like politicians don't letting the army go full murder spree on narcos and other dissident groups.
Its worse than that, corruption is the source of all our problems. All the politicans are, more or less, crooked. Most of the high officials in the army are corrupt as well, let alone the police (specially outside of big cities, they are mostly "polimaña"). And even the "honest" ones, either they comply with the orders or they get "discharged". The irony is that, not even the cartel bosses are "in charge", even with all their power they are also trapped in the endless cycle of corruption that keeps the "machine" (the system) going on. So the "war" against the organized crime depends on that. So
        >Vicente Fox (2000-2006) gives power to Los Zetas
        >Felipe Calderón (2006-2012) makes a pact with the CDS to fight the Gulf and Los Zetas (so the army mostly fought people of those groups)
        >E. Peña Nieto (2012-2018) tries to fix the bloody PR campaign, by covering all the violence and asking for limited action from the army to make it look like "the violence is over" while it keeps escalating
        >AMLO (2018-2024) keeps with the "its all good" strategy while giving power to La Chapiza and the fentanyl business
        >"you are now here"

Officially Mexico withdrew from TIAR in 2004 I think so the US isn't obligated to help, but at the same time if some shit on that scale was happening in Mexico the US would most definitely step in.

On the topic of Mexico, why haven't any games used their myths and culture for some cool idea, maybe some Hades or Souls-like game, that would be nice.

Depends on US interests, might help the "dictator" as they always do (that basically sums up US interference on latinamerican affairs during the last century). Mexico has won armed conflicts against france and spain, but present day army isnt prepared for a conventional war (if anyone heard about the Ecuador issue during the last weeks, we are not even prepared to a conventional fight with that country). Our army could withstand days, maybe a week against a strong force, and then we would go in full on resistance mode, which could last for years, but thats another story.

Theres also the narco factor, they dont care about patriotism or shit like that, but if their business is in jeopardy you can bet they would do something about it. Of course they will try to negiotiate with the stronger party, so that could backfire for Mexico, but who knows.

Also, about the videogame aspect of a war in Mexico, theres only Ghost Recon's Advanced warfighter, and maybe COD2. Would love to see a game set in the Independence War, the Mexican Revolution, or some other armed conflicts like the French Interventions or the Texas Revolution (most likely one since the US won)

Because most of them always go for the aztec aesthetic, and 99% is pure superfluous imagery instead of an actual research work

Mexico could be the next state in america, puetro rico and DC are democrat controlled, while mexico and canada are mostly republican by most standards. So its realistic to annex them.

This has literally already happened, and they only got away with it because America was too busy killing each other over slavery. Once the Civil War ended they got kicked the frick out with Uncle Sam's help. America won't tolerate any foreign power in their backyard.

USA only helped in lending money to Benito Juárez, tho. They gave some threats to France which also helped, but lets not forget the Confederacy wanted the Second Mexican Empire, so it wasnt much as "the backyard" what the US was defending, but their own internal affairs
