it wasnt world of tanks, artillery (as far as i can remember because it was a long time ago now) was well balanced and could also play to counter enemy arty and not in a moronic guessing way like wot

AW artillery managed to not be cancer. Shooting allowed enemy artillery to spot them on the map and non artillery received a warning when artillery shot at them. There were also smoke and illumination rounds to hide or spot for teammates respectively

well it used to be, it was shaping up to basically be world of tanks but actually good and fun but obsidian, that obsidian entertainment, stopped developing it and left it to some random F2P company shitheads who squandered all potential. really sad story because it was actually a possible wot-killer until, just like steam competitors, they killed themselves while the original just stands there watching.
I fricking despise war thunder with every fiber of my being, and even I know it's an infinitely better game than world of anything

That's because you're not actually meant to play at high BR, which just exists as autism containment. Besides, slaughtering hordes of CAS in a fighter to protect your team is the most fun you can have in WT.
Correct, Higher BR is such a slop I cannot go above 7.7, once you realize that the fun is at the lower br you can start to enjoy the game, also frick whoever decided the the fox was to sit a 7.0
The BR compression ruined even that BR. Suddenly everything gets access to HEAT and early ATGM who give zero fricks about your state of the art cast armor.

CAS is cancer at times ngl, but why having cas is bad but artillery is acceptable ?
there's a few reasons, as someone who's put hundreds of hours into both games:
1. CAS can easily kill you but artillery would have to get extremely lucky whilst you play a tank with no armour, or would have to spend literally half the match hitting you if you have any armour which is 85% of tanks in a match but at that point you're just asking for it and it's your fault
2. you cant hide from CAS, artillery in WOT is basically stuck into one side of the map with maybe some deviations IF the map is big enough so it's predictable but planes can obviously just fly around that hurdle. obviously there's maps with no cover and that's a problem of its own but on city maps, artillery is pretty much a wasted team slot. literally nobody would say a pe-8 on berlin is a waste of time.
3. unlike artillery, you cannot kill CAS unless you're in an SPAA, which means you're in a vehicle dedicated to killing planes and is heavily limited in terms of tank-on-tank performance, or if you have a pintle machine gun which is at least a 50 cal because anything else is typically a single 7.92mm and you're not killing shit with that, but machine guns also become useless thanks to planes with orbital laser bombs
4. design-wise CAS should have been limited by spawn points but in game, it's incredibly easy for people to just get enough points in tanks by rushing captures then J-out, grab a plane and start racking the points back up, which leads into number 5:
5. there are no limits on the number of CAS in a match, it is completely possible for both teams to be filled with people playing ARB in a fricking GRB match, the people playing tanks effectively being AI-controlled ground targets for them to farm. artillery in world of tanks is limited to 3 per team and it's now quite rare for that to happen in tiers higher than 6.
goes without saying both are bad for their games but artillery is mostly really annoying and rarely game-ruining (aside from Lefh), CAS absolutely can ruin games.
War Thunder is a plane game where the ground targets get mad at you for dabbing on them, and the sooner you come to terms with that, the better for your sanity.

I just want ONE fricking game that combines the aspects of air, tank, and ground combat into a single game that is based on modern armor and weapons. Basically non sci fi Planetside 2. It's a niche that desperately needs to be filled but nobody wants to do it because the devs that can are too busy working on battle royale trash.

I wish I had a game like Warthunder, but alt-history or science fiction, so it wasn't this bizarre yet soulless experience of random real vehicles doing battle for no reason. There could be fun vehicles then, or even have a part list instead of a vehicle tree.

I do not know about the others, but I would suggest staying away from WOT. most of the games are 15/1 3 minute battles, armor is irrelevant since everyone spams gold and the company delivers more lootboxes rather than actual useful features/balance. I think most of people still playing it because they invested a lot of money in the past and just can't give up because of this. unfortunately im one of those too.

you can meet tanks like pershing which you can trade some shots at least, but when meeting BZ, it is nearly impossible to do anything. you are just free damage for it. The tank is totally broken and this will not change because it is a paid tank.
All the tank nuts I know have moved on to War Thunder. Make of that what you will.

I remember when the Type 59 first was introduced in WoT and it got matched, among others, with tanks that could not pen it from any angle.

WoT streamlines the gameplay by making the maps smaller so you can get shot faster and adding bullshit camo mechanics so the invisible tank shooting you can be just 50 meters away.
