Warhammer The Old World Cancels new armies as it scales down scope

>Kislev army and models scrapped
>Cathay army and models scrapped
>Future updates for all PDF only armies scrapped
>Narrative event books up in the air on happening or not
>Current released product could be all that will release and already be going out of print

So how badly did the initial release underperform sales wise? The very first reveals were concepts for Kislev and announcing Cathay. Now both are confirmed indefinitely shelved and we are left with scuffed WHFB were half the armies only have cut down rules and some don't exist at all.

This was the greybeards "AoS Killer" and now its looking like its going the way of Areonautica and getting no more original releases. Talk about a flash in the pan.

This is a bait thread, but for anyone who isn't keeping up with the details: Kislev and Cathay are coming, but they are not being released until some time after the 9 starting factions have all been released. OP is trying to stir shit up.

The pdfs themselves tell you they will not be updated (not "we have no plans to update", full-stop "will not be updated").

Which should be your hint that OP is making shit up when he says there were plans that got scrapped.

      >Fans of Warhammer: The Old World should note that there aren’t any current plans to bring Kislev or Grand Cathay to the tabletop for the foreseeable future.
This is compared to previous announcements such as https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/05/11/old-world-update-bearsgw-homepage-post-4/. The Legends PDFs we already knew about. No idea on the narrative books or release cycle though.

That is just the more polite corporate jargon way to say "it is never happening".
GW can't just 100% up and say kislev, cathay and whatever else are effectively squatted and never coming back because they want to retain people like you, who hold out false hope and buy some other WHF shit in the mean while.

If you thought this was new, you haven't been following the game at all. We knew before the release that Kislev and Cathay weren't part of the first set of factions. The earliest we'll get them is next year, and it may be 2026 or even 2027 depending on how fast things move.

How could it underperform when virtually all the Old World minis are sold out?

Kislev and Cathay were shitcanned years ago, we have literally heard nothing more about them since the initial announcements in 2020. If they were still planning to do them they would have announced something when the game launched, it's not an indicator of sales performance.

It's got nothing to do with sales.

Instead, take a look at what GW has already done to itself to modernise and appeal to the token corporate woke agenda. For years, we have seen the company gradually introduce long taboo tropes such as same sex relationships, female/ androgynous gendered troops (new Chaos Warriors, Stormcast and now Bretonnian Knights).

The woke agenda does not stop solely at gender politics but also instead beyond to maintaining the status quo and international political powers that be. Cathay and Kislev are analogous of the Western Worlds too biggest boogeyman, China and Russia. To normalise these two rogue nations through allowing them to enter as mainstream protagonists in the GW fantasy mythos carries significant political implications to GW in appeasing the powers that be. Including these races provides yet another attack vector for the woke left to attack the company for being the playground of racist mysogynists.

They will continue to quietly remove these races as well as other potentially problematic analogues (no surprise Vampires and Skaven are on the chopping block) as well continue the progressive woke agenda.

You need to stop using social media and listening to grifters on youtube and completely clean your brain out. You are talking like a guy that sits in his pickup on his drive in a hate and glasses crying that hot sauce has gone woke on tiktok. This is a one way ticket to early onset dementia.

No one wants to play meme secondary factions though, and announcements made years ago re: those 2 factions were a very, very clear ploy to hype up excitement for secondaries. I'm glad they've been binned and hope they never come back.
