There will be enough initial hype for the game to be present for some time (boosted by youtubers ofc), but it will die down quickly, because the rules are just not fun, and they never were.
There will be a constant playerbase the size of the Lord of the Rings game, so GW will provide minimal support, some new releases (re-releases of old shit to be specific) of some plastic units, and maybe a new resin hero here and there.
There will be enough players for a constant present, but rank and file games are just to specific and too complicated for the average GW player to enjoy.
Not to deep in this topic but it is true that there will be no Skaven? I would come back to the Old World but not if I have to play my Highelves I painted at 14.
There will be Skaven but not as a core faction, so you'll have to make do with a pity-pdf for rules and using OOP/AoS minis. If TOW is successful you'd imagine they'll reintroduce these "legacy" factions in the future (that could be years away though)

Almost all the skaven GW sell currently were released during 7th and 8th Ed WHFB
Skaven will get an initial rules PDF at some point and that's it. No further support but you should be able to play them in theory.
If enough of you complain about it, and GW runs out of ideas and their numbers dip, then yeah. You'll get your skaven back. How do I know this? Well, this entire thread as case in point.
If you think about it, the only armies that have been announced don't have a AoS counterpart other than Beastmen and Chaos. I take it beastmen are barely played in that setting as they're basically WFB models anyways. Chaos is to big not to be included. My guess? If Old World takes off, other armies will be introduced in a necromunda kind of way. That is, in 4 years we will have 8 books and a shitload of rules with alot if costumization options. Hell, they even posted about filler bases on WHC today. It's not your average mainline GW product, it actually has a modicum of soul, even if most of it is from nostalgia.
The unsupported factions will get a barebones, shitty "here you go now frick off" pdf that they said will never be updated or supported in the future
I found my 6th ed dwarfs while visiting my parents, basically only missing some ironbreakers from making a visually appealing army.

The launch is going to be a huge success. It's the long-term prospects I'm less sure about.
I still think there's a sizeable number of people on the design team spiteful that people prefer Fantasy to Sigmar. We'll have to see I guess.
I'm certain there are people like that on the Sigmar team. Hopefully, corporate had the sense not to put any of them on the TOW team.
