>not your traditional platformers
>every game is different even within the series itself
>somehow all the games are good
How did they do it? Which was your favorite? Also is there any other games out there that are like any of the Wario Land games?

I haven't liked any of these games yet, but I'll learn to play them anyway.
don't worry, Wario Land 4 and Wario World on GCN are the only good ones, don't bother with the rest. spergs will try and tell you that the shitty monochrome GB games with ugly sprites are better or that WW is a piece of trash and they're wrong on both counts. listen to me, i have a big penis and have unprotected sex with hot chicks. i know things.
I only like the first one.
that's because you're gay
yeah
i like first game too
The first one is the best one because of the hats.
>I only have [insert buzzwords that hopefully will appeal to straight men I want to groom] so trust my zoomer nostalgia and bias
so basically, you're gay?
Stop flirting with guys, dude.
3 is great too. Once the game gets rolling it becomes very addicting
3 is great but I wish the levels were a little bigger. I went back to it recently and I was surprised at how small the levels really are.
Yeah 3 is great but some design choices it had is just puzzling. Why remove his abilities? Why did they think to break up the level design pacing for the story in the way they did? To me the game could have been so much better off if they designed it so that you have your abilities from the start like WL2 and you can get all the treasure chests in each level exactly when you want. The way they designed it the pacing feels so off to me. I mean I guess it works but it just could have been a lot better being a more simple game. Just increase the difficulty or challenge in another way than having the game be all over the place in such a weird way. Never played any other game that did this but the game is still a great game. It is very unique and I never played anything like it. Just could have been a superb game if designed better imo.
Have you never played a Metroid game? It's not unsurprising that Nintendo R&D1, which created Metroid, would want to have a Metroid-esque Wario game.
I remembered being very disappointed in Wario Land 4. Felt it was just a dumbed down, streamlined, and incredibly short. Over the years I've really warmed up to it and appreciated for what it was. It basically trims the fat and excels at everything it's trying to do with a narrowed focus. Now it's one of my favorites.
>monochrome GB games
Only one of them was monochrome. II and up have color, but they also play like completely different games.
And you clearly have a small penis and spend your days and nights on your knees sucking black dick for crack money, because those games are awesome.
The original 2 was monocrome, they rereleased it on the GBC like a year later.
and?
nah my penis is massive and veiny and hangs down to the ground and drips behind me like a trail of snail goo, meanwhile you immediately think of small african pp when feeling insecure. WL1-3 are trash. get wafflestomped nerd.
I appreciate 4's stylization but otherwise its the weakest Warioland game, the level layouts and the power ups are all weak.
There are a couple indie games out there that are trying to mimic 4, but I feel like 2 and 3 are grossly underappreciated. They were the most mechanically unique and I can't think of any other games that have done something similar
A combination of 2 and 3 that combines the best elements of both would be the best imo. 4 is still a great game in its own right and same for 1. I doubt most people played the VB one. One thing I especially like about Wario Land though that would unfortunately get lost with any newer game is the limited 2D pixel look due to being on GB. Last thing, I think the levels should have time limits. It is a good way to give more challenge since he is otherwise immortal. So dream Wario game would also have time limits for levels instead of a health bar implemented in 4.
>best game on GB
>best game on VB
>best game on GBC
>best game on GBA
simply amazing
Aside from Super Metroid, the WarioWare series, and the Rhythm Heaven series, everything this developer has done has been painfully mediocre.
WarioLand 2 & 3 suck at being Wariolands but they're great games overall.
Each game was designed to be its own thing which is a stupid but simultaneously brilliant part on the devs. Not like it mattered, they got bored of Wario for whatever reason and disbanded
>they got bored of Wario for whatever reason and disbanded
>disbanded
Actually Nintendo just merged them with some other dev team.
>"WarioLand 2 & 3 suck at being Wariolands"
>"they're great games overall."
What?
>How did that do it?
Something AAA Developers aren't willing to do anymore. Experimentation and Innovation.
3 was my personal favorite.
Im glad people like all warios games but 4 will always be GodKing.
good:
wl4
wl1
good but not fun:
wl2
wl3
If they weren't fun they wouldn't be good.
>fun but not good (only because of the console's nature itself):
VBWL
Why the hell did Nintendo never port this to 3DS? Just give it color.
Yeah, it would have been a perfect fit for the 3DS. Complete miss by Nintendo there.
I was working on a VB emulator earlier this year and tested out colorizing this game. Seems doable.
Neat
They can't face their own failure.
for me it's 4 > 2 > VB > 3 >>>>> Shake It > 1
The frick? 1 was great for what it was.
Still need to grab a copy of 3, got the rest of them and have adored the series for ages.
Side note, anyone know the correct battery for 2? Mine burned out and needs a replacement.
I didn't know there was rom hacks for these games.
Wario Land 4 is a game I don't understand the love for. I remember it being a very uninteresting platformer that I beat on a car ride and never felt inclined to touch again.
I actually liked Wario Land 1, 2 and 3 way more than 4. Especially 3 was the absolute coolest in my opinion, with all the power ups, open-world-ish level design and day-night cycle.
I think 4's decision to make him have health may play a bit in why you think its an uninteresting platformer. It made them alter how they approach everything with the game when they made it so like all other Wario games it is just a different kind of platformer altogether. You can say it feels more traditional in a lot of ways I suppose rather than unique like how 2 and 3 felt.
4 is good but it's pretty standard compared to 2 and 3. My biggest complaint is that there's only 16 levels (though they're decently long levels) and the way selecting works makes it feel less like a grand adventure. Second one feels like a dumb complaint when I say it out loud, but 1, 2, and 3 had really nice continuity with their levels.
The one on Virtual Boy was unironically really fun despite it being on a cursed platform. That and Red Alarm were only ones I enjoyed on VB. TeleroBoxing was shit was more disappointed than PrizeFighter on SegaCD
until last night, i only played 4 but really liked it
but with that and today, i did 1 and it's pretty solid too
is there a trick to the money making game though? it seems random but if there's a logic it'd cut down on my trips to level 6 by a lot
IIRC, you pause the game and hit select 16 times to access debug mode and give yourself 999 coins if you don't feel like grinding.
yeah i just did that
i might've have done it for real if i had gambled more and got lucky but i only did it when i had around 50 coins, never did it after a boss fight
Not gonna lie, was half-hoping the sign would say something like Ganker or /vr/ or just Ganker in general.
man and i thought the skull castle and UFO on mt teapot were just a coincidence but no she really is dr wily's daughter
I know Wario Land 4 has the best graphics technically of the Land games (Shake It isn't retro yet) but I like the look of WL3 more.
