>Was Ancient Egypt really this nice to live in back in the day?
Ancient Egypt spans over more than 3500 years, anon. That's like saying "Was France/Germany/North America/Whatever a nice place to live, back in the days ranging from 1000 BC to today"? Guess what, anon? There's probably time where it would have sucked balls, and other time where it was pretty nice. I don't mind living in Western Europe today, but I probably have liked it all that much during the Feudal Era.
>It had the fricking roman empire dude...
Which would be the late era the of Ancient Egypt , still. "Ancient Egypt" also include the Late Period, the Ptolemaic Period and the Roman Period, which is generally accepted as the final years of Ancient Egypt. So Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt overlapped quite a bit. Ptolemaic Period dealt was contemporary with Roman Republic and Roman Period was indeed contemporary with the Roman Empire.
>Absolutely not, the Ptolemaic period is a clear new phase in Egyptian history, ancient Egypt ended with the fall of the new kingdom dynasties
While I do agree with you on that, you have to realize that layman's term and historical definitions often have discrepancies. Stricto sensu, I also agree that Ptolemaic period is such a fracture it should be rightfully considered as a new phase, and that the Late Period (hence the name) should be regarded as the last one. However, for your average folk, Ancient Egypt definitely cover Ptolemaic and Roman period. Most people view Cleopatra as part of Ancient Egypt because it's engraved in the popular imagery (thanks to movie, comics and shit). For instance, type "Ancient Egypt" on google, open the related Wikipedia's page and you'll find list both Ptolemaic and Roman Period listed in the Table of Content. Sure, there's a few disclaimer in the text, but they are bundled together in the popular opinion. And I doubt OP was asking its question with the Historical definition in mind.
Native Egyptian culture and religion remained largely intact until the Christian period, so I don't think the Ptolemaic period was as dramatic a break as it's often thought to be. The upper classes partially assimilated to wider Mediterranean culture in contrast to the isolationism that had defined Egypt in the dynastic period, but the native priesthood was still there along with their gods, the commoners still lived as they always had, the language spoken by the average person was a direct continuation of the native language, etc. There was a lot of continuity.
Probably not. Most places were shitholes prior to the 70s if you wanted to be a free individual who didn't follow society's arbitrary rules. Imagine just being black in some shithole germanic tribe, wearing a purple garment in shithole rome, refusing to be a slave in shithole egypt, or being white in some shithole bantu tribe.
The ones I'm referring to are. They all exist to protect the egos of either the elite of the tribe or the colony insects of the tribe. Both are abominations.
If I want to wear purple then it's my God-given right. I will personally hunt down purple flowers, make my cloak, and then convince barbarians and egyptians to pincer attack you if you ever try to stop me.
No it's called collectivist maximalism, you subversive frick. Society needs traditions and order in order to function, creativity and expression is codeword for subversion and degeneracy.
Colony insect slave. Society has no reason to exist if the individual is stifled. have a nice day or go to north korea.
Either I wear my purple or you get killdozer'd.
frick no
the majority of the population worked in shithole conditions on the massive plantations
you'd be far far better off in a more backwards territory that wasn't nearly as hyper-focused on efficiency
If you think the lack of modern medical procedures, drugs and dogmatic religious worship of an authoritarian head of state is nice - sure. You will love it if you have the time next to your spartanic life and hard peasant work.
their games can be shit but their maps are always top tier no matter the game
its nice that they've been including a tour mode because I do not want to actually play their games just wander around and see things
Origins is. Odyssey is... Okay. It's about twice as long as it should be though. And Valhalla is just more Odyssey. Both of which aren't even pretending to be grounded anymore. You have straight up magic Isu powers. Origins is easily one of the best AC games though. And the other two are fun to play just not exactly good.
Did you know that most of the "knowledge" of this history comes from the academia who have invented this shit in order to fit it in to their narrative? Bit like the religions but now it's the "science".
No, Nebuchadnezzar is unironically terrible.
The original Sierra games are better, this one is just a poorly done copycat with many new obtuse features that ruin what was already perfect.
most people on here are contrarian dumbasses, fanboys, and trolls. there is a core of reasonable people on here but its impossible to ever know their opinions from the mass of worthless garbage. maybe that's you, maybe not, but again, lol at taking anyone's opinion on here seriously.

I'm inclined to agree. If I were a polgay everything would make me mad too. What a sad existence.
next game will be set in Abbasid Baghdad and the surrounding countryside so we will definitely see the ruins of cities like Babylon
but I definitely want a game set in ancient empires like Sumer and Akkad, or even just Persia
>it's okay if it's happening to them
Fricking moron. If your consciousness magically reincarnated to back then you would be of a random race. You could easily be a slave.
jews weren't egyptian slaves, they were a group of inland hill tribes which moved into Israel after the Egyptians left due to the bronze age collapse then interbred heavily with the Philistines which were one of the few groups of identified sea peoples
basically israelites are the mix of people who collapsed society and those who profited off of it, then created an elaborate slavery myth to justify it
I always assumed the akkadians were the proto israelites >literally the first semites >didn’t form their own empire, just subverted sumerian cities >civilization collapsed within a few generations of their rule
Also the bronze age collapse was likely preceded by environmental disaster leading to several years of bad crops, and iron working putting hard weapons in the hands of civilizations that didn’t have the organization and power to import tin from as far west as wales and as far east as pakistan.
Egypt was one of the first big developed black cities in history
In all likelihood the nubians weren’t even subsaharans and the pharaohs had blonde hair.
collapsed within a few generations of their rule
the fate of every empire on earth, they do not live long

It's not stupid at all. We already have it and have had it since ww1 ended. Freedom lovers beat slave brains and enforce freedom worldwide.

we have decentralized unification, huge difference. got a story about 10 thousand greek mercenaries fighting some persian war, pre xerxes btw
so, persians capture their commanders and eladers and tell them to give up, waht greeks do? elect new commanders and frick off from that war telling persians to fight their own wars
legend says that's how Crimea colony was founded, Pheodosia
then few hundred years alter what happens? Alexander the great happens, conquers the hell out of everyone and world goes to shit after.
>pharaohs had blonde hair
are you referring to the red-headed mummies? anon, don't tell me you don't know the reason why corpses with hair intact are red-haired.
It had suffered it's first major defeat, and made peace with intermarriage in to a foreign empire.
It still lasted centuries, and that isn't including it's time as a Roman protectorate.
it was alright, slavery was more like serfdom unlike rome or greece
beer, wheat and construction, laws weren't that terrible either
world gone to hell when Greek took control of it
>Builders of Egypt supposed to come out 2 years ago already >still isn't out >company behind it seems shady >played the sierra game to death and want something that can actually carry on its legacy
yeah all the israelites left
pol "humor"
they really never got over the edgy teenager phase of thinking acting borderline evil for the lols is cool

That's still set in "ancient" times, autist.
yeah it wasn't that bad when i was there back in the day

Nice try, Shlomo.
Or being muslim in israel. You're not gonna weasel your way out of this, fascist. You're part of the anti-freedom menace that controlled the world.
Nice try, Homo.
Rules aren’t arbitrary.

very nice yes

I think it looked better when I was a kid
sigh

what's the hieroglyph for SOUL?
Egyptian Hieroglyph D053
that's the soulless remaster
compared to other places, probably.
compared to modern day? frick no
Ptolemaic Egypt was shit compared to most other places for the majority of the population

Don't bother, that game is terrible.

yea, you could buy slaves and age of consent was anything you wanted it to be.
You could also be a slave
do I look israelite to you?

They can't be proto-jews if israelites already existed.
Also pretty much every empire "subverted" other cities, and every other empire collapsed.
>pharaohs had blonde hair
are you referring to the red-headed mummies? anon, don't tell me you don't know the reason why corpses with hair intact are red-haired.
Yea my grandpa lived in ancient Egypt. He loved it and talked about it every Easter.
Life is always better when the sweat of your brow doesn't go directly to lazy Black folk who would kill you for your shoes
Even before the pyramids there was 1-2 million people living in the area and it was probably somewhat comparable to modern urban living
Egypt was one of the first big developed black cities in history
>Egypt was one of the first big developed black cities in history
I'm not surprised why it had such an downfall then
They had a good 6 thousand years run, our civilization didn't last even thousand years if we want to be pedantic about it.
Well it's no secret that egypte only started having black pharaos during the decline.
It had suffered it's first major defeat, and made peace with intermarriage in to a foreign empire.
It still lasted centuries, and that isn't including it's time as a Roman protectorate.
literally white people came and conquered everything and fricked their women.
I imagine it was mostly a sprawling slum
It was much greener than how it's portrayed. It was an agrarian society so obviously they didn't build cities on sand.
it was alright, slavery was more like serfdom unlike rome or greece
beer, wheat and construction, laws weren't that terrible either
world gone to hell when Greek took control of it
