out of touch gen x idiot
He was a dick head and mocked fans of the previous games several times, so I always thought he was the main problem behind D3. Also most likely his inexperience and entusiasm with the genre.
there was no saving diablo 3, he was just first in line of for the revolving door of game director's trying to steer a sinking ship.
Mosquiera did a good job given what he had to work with.
>or was he actually moronic?
He made some of the best RTS of all time, Diablo 3 wasn't his ffault
>Game under his direction for four years ends up with no goals and constantly getting redesigned every few months throwing out mountains of work, ends up being pretty bad
>Co-worker on the only good game he ever touched takes over, makes the game significantly better in just two years
He's just stupid.
Depends, who was behind baby making hips Diablo?
Me
PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP
>BREED me Imperius, I assumed this dummy thicc form to PLEASE YOUR wiener
>IMPREGNATE ME with your ANGELIC SEED so I can give birth to a new lineage of nephalem
This is when I stopped playing the game.
Do those extra mouths also work or are they just decoration?
They represent Femphisto and Gaal.
But can they suck dick?
It was Metzens idea believe it or not, there was major infighting over this but Metzen came up with it
>It was Metzens idea believe it or not
Metzen came up with space angel Kerrigan too, I can see that being true.
Waifus are a recurring theme in his work.
Diablo's vessel was Leah a woman
I know that's Metzens justification, and I refuse to accept it because it's fricking moronic.
"Diablo's form is based on whose body he inhabits" makes more sense than "The Warrior was Leoric's secret other son all along!!!"
"Metzen has a fetish" makes more sense than "Diablo's form is based on whose body he inhabits."
Both statements can be true.
watch the d3 documentary by indigo gaming and you'll see how incompetent this fricker was during development
legendary gear drop rate was tied to rmah, it was over before it began.
This dumb motherfricker unironically had QA and playtesters try out a D3 launch build for several months and they constantly tuned things to make everything feel good. And then right at the end, he made the decision to double everything, but NOT do ANY kind of testing afterwards. Double damage, double HP, double resistances, etc. on all mobs and bosses in the entire game for Inferno.
That, in combination with the RMAH and how abysmal the drop rates were, created a game where something like 80% of the playerbase were unironically running around farming for gold, to purchase gear on RMAH, to attempt to progress on Inferno.
How do you know that, did you follow that or how?
He said it himself in a dev interview right before the game launched. It was what spawned the infamous "AND THEN WE DOUBLED IT" meme that everyone repeated in D3 at launch because the balancing was non-existent for Inferno.
I vaguely remember a lot of people cheering when he said that at blizzcon.
Little did they know.
I was excited for it when I first heard it too, I must admit. It sounded like it was gonna be a really hardcore game. Unfortunately the reality was that it was just extreme artificial difficulty.
>0% of the playerbase were unironically running around farming for gold
Bullshit. People were botting to sell shit on the RMAH for actual money. Multiple weeks with 24 hour botting and I still haven't been banned.
>Bullshit
It's not bullshit. It was literally THE meta build to equip as much gold find gear as you could, have as much mobility as possible, and then run routes to break pots to get gold. It was 10x easier to just buy items from the RMAH than it was to actually find them yourself.
>It was 10x easier to just buy items
Nobody said it wasn't. But it was even cheaper to just buy a bot and leave it running.
DiabloBuddy was like 5 bucks for a week-long key.
I was too late to the party and only made like 20 GPB
bots were always a minority in the hayday of D3 moron. Most who joined were laymen who had no clue how to do it so they just grinded the gold to buy the gear
>"Frick that loser."
And,
>"Then we doubled it."
Is all you need to know about this hack. Now that D4 is out the truth is, Diablo was always a Condor property not Blizzard's and they keep missing the mark.
The fact that Diablo 3 ended up good in the end by going in the exact opposite direction of what he was going for says it all.
Frick those guys.
>and then we made it harder
>or was he actually moronic
This. The more you know about the development team back then, the more you know about bad decision after bad decision.
>Makes the best feeling combat in any ARPG or isometric game ever
>Creates a skill system with the highest number of unique skills ever seen in a videogame, let alone an ARPG
>Ganker hates him
Can we just agree that Ganker hates videogames?
>Yes the game was shit, but clicking FELT so good!
looking at his face I think this guy is very dysgenic
but also conceited. It seems to me that him and his followers resulted in D3 being a complete clusterfrick of design.
