They are honestly all great games. There are aspects of each I can see people liking and disliking. I enjoyed every single one, and I want more. They bring so much charm and joy.
Swapping between both pairs gets annoying and the game is super linear. Also everyone who says this game is hard is moronic, they just bloated enemy HP in the West. Battles are just long so they encourage item spam.
>Their own greed in releasing it so early was the actual downfall
No, their downfall was too many gaps between games. AlphaDream was in debt before the first Bowser's Inside Story came out.
I enjoyed it, even with the jank that came with two pairs of Mario Bros. to deal with.
The whiplash I had when I played this immediately after finishing Superstar Saga was mind boggling for me as a child
My only real complaint overall is that you had to buy Bros. Items to use special abilities instead of Bro Points like in the first game
The weaker entry of the five honestly (yes its worse than Dream Team and Paper Jam)
Especially since Bros Items are consumables in an already broken economy so there is zero situations where you'd spend a turn to recover
Had some funny moments that still stick to mind though, like that star door prying into Mario's diet
Nah man, I replayed the game twice and even with DT's endless tutorials and PJ's mandatory minigames, they still have PiT beat, especially in combat
Bros Items were just a shit concept from the get-go, the game would have fared better if they had just expanded on the Bros Attacks from SS but now with four people instead of two
This. The bro item minigames become so boring once you've stockpiled enough and have to play them like 50 times to kill the HP sponge bosses. And being able to land your strongest moves over and over again without having to worry about any setup or resource management makes using your special attacks feel no more monumental than just landing a regular attack
Also how the hell did you make it through twice? I loved Superstar Saga, but I got so bored during the final half of PiT I just gave it to another kid
Never really saw the issue with bros attacks being items, not that different from stacking syrups.
If anything I didn't like how slow they are, almost every move goes on forever.
I disagree. I think PiS is equal to SS, it just scratches a different itch. Otherwise I agree with your ranking although I think you're being a little harsh towards Dream Team
I liked it a lot but not quite as much as Superstar Saga. Final boss busted my balls.
The final boss is one of the reasons why I love PiT. Rarely do we get an endurance test in these games.
Dream team completely made me lose interest when we had to escort obvious bad guy disguised as peach into constant layer after layer of a dream. I'd probably like it more if it wasn't for this specific event
>What if we made this childrens game for children a nightmarish cosmic horror about all the funny mushroom people being subsumed into living trees and ayy lmaos killing everyone
Very funny nintendo VERY FUNNY
>first Mario & Luigi game was Partners in Time >first Paper Mario was SPM
Holds a special place in my heart tbh. I like the darker games. PIT filtered me on my first playthrough because I didn't know you could move the thing to boost stats other than HP.
yep. overworld looses its novelty factor quickly and traversing it is boring as frick
people tend to overlook this because dude bowser lmao and the cool story/premise
better than the first, worse than inside story
So it is good.
>better than the first
It's alright, it's probably the weakest of the first three entries.
>better than the first
have a nice day
I don't think Bowser's inside story is very good at all.
>better than the first
Even having a soft spot for it, obviously not.
FPBP recognizing superstar saga is overrated
only thing better about it is having bro moves instead of items
You got that reversed, pal
idk but im playing superstar saga for the first time and its awesome
They are honestly all great games. There are aspects of each I can see people liking and disliking. I enjoyed every single one, and I want more. They bring so much charm and joy.
It wasn't as good as the first. Controlling the babies and adults was tedious and unenjoyable.
Emulate it, play with a friend. One controls both Marios and the other one controls both Luigis. Pure kino.
Swapping between both pairs gets annoying and the game is super linear. Also everyone who says this game is hard is moronic, they just bloated enemy HP in the West. Battles are just long so they encourage item spam.
They should have remade this on the 3ds and kept the inside story for the switch.
Their own greed in releasing it so early was the actual downfall
>Their own greed in releasing it so early was the actual downfall
No, their downfall was too many gaps between games. AlphaDream was in debt before the first Bowser's Inside Story came out.
Why didn't Nintendo save them?
Because it made more sense to let them die than take on their debt. They own practically everything from the series.
I think I dropped it halfway into the game.
That final boss filtered the frick out of me as a kid, what were they thinking?
SS > DT > BIS > PIT
Paper Jam bro, wtf
I enjoyed it, even with the jank that came with two pairs of Mario Bros. to deal with.
The whiplash I had when I played this immediately after finishing Superstar Saga was mind boggling for me as a child
My only real complaint overall is that you had to buy Bros. Items to use special abilities instead of Bro Points like in the first game
Nothing can top SS. DT tried to recapture the soul with the new kingdom, but it's just not the same.
It took me a second to realize the 3DS toads on the bottom aren't actually in the game, but are fanmade. Frick remakes
A real shame, since the spritework for SSDX (particularly the bosses) is great. Mario games just can't have personality anymore.
where my dream team gang at
Good for one playthrough and only ONE playthrough
Right? Who has the TIME for anything else?
=]

Nah, it's definitely better than those. It's just a good game awkwardly stuck between two great games.

I had nothing else to play at the time and I was a dumb kid
Never really saw the issue with bros attacks being items, not that different from stacking syrups.

>not that different from stacking syrups.
Because by using a syrup you use up a turn
There's a tradeoff
Bros Items do not have that
SS > PiT > BiS >>>>>>>> DT
The story was really good, so was the music and gameplay. But it doesn't top SS
I disagree. I think PiS is equal to SS, it just scratches a different itch. Otherwise I agree with your ranking although I think you're being a little harsh towards Dream Team

The proper final boss or the actual final boss?
never managed to beat the bowser/baby bowser boss
it was cute how the first level took place in a winter level with a santa toad, i love new designs in mario games like that
>What if we made this childrens game for children a nightmarish cosmic horror about all the funny mushroom people being subsumed into living trees and ayy lmaos killing everyone
Very funny nintendo VERY FUNNY
this game kicked my ass as a kid, so finding out years later that the US version massively boosted all the boss HP values was vindicating.
It's honestly my second favorite just under Superstar Saga. Bowser's Inside Story was pretty good, but everything afterwards was slop.
>first Mario & Luigi game was Partners in Time
>first Paper Mario was SPM
Holds a special place in my heart tbh. I like the darker games. PIT filtered me on my first playthrough because I didn't know you could move the thing to boost stats other than HP.
>Partners in Time and Super Paper Mario
how much childhood trauma did you accrue
For a game about time travel, the time travel seemed incredibly underutilized.
Bowser's Inside Story is overrated as frick.
yep. overworld looses its novelty factor quickly and traversing it is boring as frick
people tend to overlook this because dude bowser lmao and the cool story/premise
Here is a better question: are there more games like them?
