You say that until you have to search for a new gf because she says it hurts/can't go all the way down. Most of the big dick propaganda comes from chicks being told by the 4-6 inchers they are 8 or 9 inches big. Shit sucks and the only one that didn't complain turned out to have a body count of 30 that year. IN JUNE
Nah, 16:10 (8:5) is the best middle ground.
I am not a fan of 16:9, it is not ideal for gaming, browsing and coding, we lose too much vertical space when it is needed.
I don't get the lost vertical space argument. You gain horizontal space.
The last 4:3 monitor I had was a crt with a native resolution of 1280x1024. My current monitor is native 1920x1080.
There is never enough "vertical space" for a 16:10gay. We've also reached the point where screen resolutions are big enough to warrant UI scaling so your 1440p/4K monitor is effectively back to 720p/1080p.
Whatever you have should be supported. Stretching horizontally looks worse than stretching vertically. Resident Evil 6 even looks better stretched vertically onto a 4:3 TV or TV set to 4:3.
You don't need information to the sides as much as you need information at the centre, extra information costs performance, and there typically isn't much to render vertically, or in the sky, so 4:3 wins out performance wise.
It's better to have good AA than higher resolution most of the time. Though LCD is much better to read with CRT's could have been used for longer. It would have been better for gameplay and graphics.
1:1 is probably best, circular, ready for 3D glasses. True 3D is best, two images, but 2D to 3D conversion is a lot better than nothing.
It's unironically better for some sidescrollers since it means ranged attacks have to travel less to reach onscreen enemies/player and keeps enemy placement nice and tight
Doesn't work like that. Most non competitive games nowadays allow to extend the horizontal space (actual more real state). Meanwhile if you try to use a monitor with more vertical space, you don't get more real state. The game is zoomed in to match the supported vertical space and you end up losing horizontal space.
I wonder what the aspect ratio of the area of your vision where things are clearest is? I would assume it is the golden ratio or near that which would make 16:10 the best aspect ratio due to it fitting in the full range of clear vision.

4 is less than 16 and 3 is less than 9
unless we are talking about dick size, bigger doesn't always means better

16:12 > 16:10 > 4:3 > 16:9
>16:12

16:12 is bigger than 4:3, both numbers are bigger

16:9 is the perfect example of a compromise that leaves no one happy.
if you want more vertical pixels hide your taskbar or move it to the side.
currently using an 8:5 monitor and my taskbar is hidden, what now gay
if you're a vertgay you'll have to go tate
Agreed, best aspect ratio and a huge loss for displays that they forced it out of the industry because no one gives a shit about monitors anymore

mine was 1600x1200 which is like 8% less pixels than 1080p. so the fullhd push wasnt really a massive upgrade for me.
4:3 looks like someone happy to be wearing one of those little newspaper triangle hats.

Recently got a computer with a 4:3 aspect ratio. It definitely feels more comfy.
We only liked 4:3 in the 90s and 00s when it was the standard not now
16:9 is closer to the golden ratio and therefore better.
I fell for the 21:9 meme and I want to kms
I feel like fighters, music/ rhythm, action, puzzle, racing, and party games work better here
Platformers, sports, and movies/ walking sims work better here

Even in film, sometimes it is good to have more vertical data.
None of those shots require more vertical data.
I went with 21:9 and it feels way better.
You can keep most of the data if you cut it shot by shot and adjust the frame to keep what you want.

you using a postage stamp sized screen?
Is the stamp vertical or horizontal?
human vision is roughly 2:1, 16:9 is a much more natural fit for that than 4:3
1.333333333 is in fact lower than 1.777777777
