>haha won't it be interesting if there's a 50/50 shot we assrape every important story beat?
No, that's not interesting or exciting. Only morons just want to see characters they recognize on screen regardless of what's happening in the story. There's a reason everything after the first "remake" will sell like shit.
I don't want to see a copy paste of a story I've seen and played over 10 times since the original game released. I wanted a sequel to Advent Children, and FF7R isn't perfect, but its the closest I'll get.
>I don't want FF7 >I want Advent Children
Then you're a homosexual with shit taste and Nomura and Kitase's new trashfire compilation games are right up your alley.
A good remake takes the original story and spirit of the game and gives it a facelift as well as new mechanics that couldn't be done before due to budget and technological constraints. Only moronic homosexuals think a remake is supposed to be fanfic-tier rewrites to a story.
>A good remake takes the original story and spirit of the game and gives it a facelift as well as new mechanics that couldn't be done before due to budget and technological constraints. Only moronic homosexuals think a remake is supposed to be fanfic-tier rewrites to a story.
a good remake is re1 remake a bad remake is re2remake one is the same game with more the other is a new game wearing a classic games skin.
Are you not familiar with the concept of a remake? I have a hard time think of a remake that is just a 1:1 recreation of the original, because that would be a fricking waste of everyone’s time. You basically want the Vince Vaughn version of Psycho, which was a lazy shot-for-shot recreation of the original, and everyone rightly mocked it for that.
Rebirth is actually really fun, the remake limited itself by just being the shifty tutorial area the entire game. All the fun stuff in the original was on disc 2, which is what rebirth is. They shouldn't of made a 30 hour game solely in midgar
The OG had qtes lmao and its more like mini games for long cut scenes. The open world is fine, le barren world will always be said about every game with open world. Then if it doesn't its a hallway Sim.
>empty open world still manages to handhold you
I'd beleive this actually. It seems the norm now to do empty open worlds and have normgays be amazed at how great the emptiness is but all the fun it holds!
i like the game but you are just lying now every region has the same chore list for you to do and they get progressively more annoying like the entirety of gongaga, frick those mushrooms.

>gongaga
I hope they don't let whoever designed that map work on the third game or any other game ever
If thats the case why couldn't they just make the remakes like mass effect where you can make choices that affect the storyline, so you can get the original story or maybe another timeline
This isn't new. Barret being calm, regretful, and introspective are featured during Corel Prison. If anything this is just redundant, and spoils the impact of the Corel sequence as it features in Rebirth, assuming it plays out in a similar fashion.
Corel prison takes place before this. The dyne fight had a resident evil moment, which was weird and only added for a surprise factor I guess? Also kino jumping off the cliff was removed which was lame, but might have to do with japanese norms around that now
God forbid they hire somebody to develop some competent gameplay so it's, you know, the GAME keeping player's interest.
Instead it's just breasts, modeled and animated worse than amateur blender artists. Small independent studio, pls understand. Square has never developed a good game.
No, it’s because it would have come and gone in maybe a month if it was just a cosmetic upgrade to the original game, playing Rebirth right now, I’m glad as hell that they didn’t listen to the “I just want the same thing that’s been available for 30 years, just prettier” gays. The lore and worldbuilding expansions are fricking great, like what the world was like before Shinra took over.
It never went beyond some internal talks but it could have come out in 2005. For comparison that's a longer gap than the one between RE1 and its remake
Meaningless unless we see digital sales. As has been mentioned fifteen goddamn times, PSN Store was offering Rebirth and Remake for the price of one game.
I feel once it hits PC the only worth of the game will be mods because everyone would pirate it.

Frick that noise.
I pirated remake and couldn't finish it. When i got to the corneo sewers again, i said frick it and uninstalled.
No mod could possibly fix that horrendous padding.
Show me the digital sales figures. Until then, talk of how well it did or didn’t sell is pointless, and no amount of you saying “nuh-uh” is going to change that.
I’m not going to try and evangelize the game to you, but I will say that Rebirth addresses most of the issues with Remake. That one kind of felt like a practice run, but the original Midgar segment was also really constrained and linear too, and by the time this is all out, it’s probably going to proportionally be about the same percentage of the story as the original too. I just ticked over the time in Rebirth that it took me to play the entirety of Remake (including all side quests), and according to my PS5, I’m only at around the halfway point of Rebirth.
Again, you do you, but I think it’s a big upgrade.
>but I will say that Rebirth addresses most of the issues with Remake
Does the story stop being fanfic shit? Is Sephiroth no longer a gay rapist chasing Cloud around? Does the game do away with "epic" Kingdom Hearts style fights where during climaxes we'll all teleport to some random in between dimensions place where rules (and also therefor stakes) do not apply and whatever the director's want to happen can happen in a vacuum? Is all the shitty padding gone? Does air combat not suck? Does party AI not suck? Does the game stop being so fricking gay instead of treating gays like a quick one off joke like the original?
If by “fanfic shit”, you mean expanding the worldbuilding and lore to go into things like the history of the world republic that existed before Shinra took over, the mythology of the summons, and the history of each region, then no.
I’m a little over 40 hours in, and while I can’t say that they never show up, I haven’t seen a single time janny ghost. Likewise, I haven’t seen any “Kingdom Hearts shit”, aside from some new guy in a black cloak occasionally showing up to talk to Rufus who kind of looks like an Organization XIII guy.
As far as “padding” goes, Corel Prison is the only part where I’ve really felt it. It’s the same setup, where a “man with a gun for an arm” shoots up some Shinra soldiers, and Barret gets accused, and you get sent down below to find the real shooter, and clear his name. But then, a gang of wasteland thugs somehow get the drop on the party and held prisoner overnight (and all the girls somehow avoid getting gang-raped in that time), and then the leader makes Cloud buy their freedom by winning a chocobo race, which in itself made me say “can we just move the plot along?”, but then there’s also a sub-objective where you have to perform a certain number of odd jobs to get greens to feed the chocobo so you can race. Then, after you do all that, the gang’s leader takes the prize money, more or less calls Cloud his b***h, and sends the party on their way. It’s not even narratively satisfying, because the gang just kind of gets away with it.
It seems like air combat has been improved, and Cloud can pretty much stay in the air in perpetuity if you want him to.
The other party member AI can be set to auto-cast spells, weapon abilities, stuff like that, but you have to get materia to do it.
Does the game stop being gay? Between Dio, Andrea, and Roche having a kind of “zesty” energy, that’s probably going to be a no, but frick it, the original had muscular dudes in speedos running around too.

They already said everyone involved in remake was bored of the original FFVII. It isn’t about keeping the audience interested and everything about keeping the moronic “creators” interested.
So then they should have stayed the frick away from the original plan outside of minor advisory roles instead of stepping in and scrapping it. The audience wanted the same thing but with graphics that matched the concept art. If they wanted to make multiverse time janitors they could have still fricked off and made that game. The remake wasn’t about them.
>The audience wanted the same thing but with graphics that matched the concept art.
Pretty much this.
The audience wanted an expansion of the relationships between the characters and environment, some more lore behind whats happened or happening in the world "like coming across the tanks and getting the story of Junon vs Shinra"

they missed the mark with temple of the ancients. in the original it was a weird place with strange vibes but in rebirth it's just depressing and uninteresting
No, but Remake/Rebirth do a lot of the original better through expansion. Doesn't apply across the board, but:
Dyne's death was particularly well done (Akira fist arm boss fight aside) compared to the original where he just an heros off the cliff.
Escape from Shinra HQ was awesome, integrating Motor Ball into the chase game itself.
Junon segment expanded the marching minigame in a very fun way. Collecting all the troops who are all doing various in-universe things was full of flavor.
Gold Saucer is also very well done and it's nice to see put together instead of the very segmented look the original had with the connecting tubes.
>Dyne's death was particularly well done
No it wasn't, it robbed him of his agency. In the original Dyne served as a reminder to Barret about what could happen to him if he let his hatred consume him.

Non gamers are being prevalent in gaming nowadays just by lurking the comments or posts on social media a.k.a "the game needs an easy mode", "games dont have to be so hard" ect.
Story changes didn't turn people off.
It's the prolonged development that did. And it's being a trilogy that you have to play previous one plus OG plus compilation to understand. FF7 remake project was dead from the beginning, SE just overrated ff7 pull.
Compare to Resident evil, in which each game is a standalone game. It's easier for normies to pick up from any platform which helps in the long run.
>"We are able to give fans the excitement of wondering which ones of their nostalgic memories we will completely ruin and shit on, haha"
People who like remakes are truly the shit tier of people.
>america: you think you do, but you don't
:l >japan: you think you do, but you don't
:O
They completely rewrote the fricking universe. You can still make a true 1:1 story while adding more side events and character building that the original lacked. Japanese boomers should commit seppuku and stop trying to insert their egos into video games.
>You can still make a true 1:1 story while adding more side events and character building that the original lacked.
The sad thing is they did, and gave it a more fun combat system, and gave it fully realized 3D versions of a beloved setting you could previously only explore through jpegs. They did all this and then put moronic time ghosts and Sephiroth in your face every hour. They took something that could've been wonderful and just shit all over it for no reason. Absolute blustering unnecessary fricking incompetence.
I started Remake again yesterday, trying to just enjoy it as its own reimagining instead of seeing it as a disappointing remake. The time jannies are still so fricking shit though, it's incredibly in your face about how different it is and constantly draws attention to it. If they wanted to make it a little different, they could've done it without fricking ghosts flying into the camera.
Also, everything from Rebirth makes it seem worse as a remake than Remake. At least Remake actually nailed the remade parts. Rebirth seems to sand off literally all the original's grittiness and double down on making everything a bombastic action setpiece. The ending is also atrocious of course.
They intentionally fricked with it because they thought nobody wanted a faithful 1:1 remake.
Looking at the sales number for part 2 it seems people were not impressed with the time jannies and premature Sephiroth encounter. Or all the padding.
Subversiongays have been a massive blight on entertainment in the past decade or so. They have no idea why subversions in old stories tended to work much better. Somehow the problem even includes people who worked on old stories (with FF7R outright being led by people who worked on the original FF7). It's not a personnel-specific problem, it's a zeitgeist problem.
No, they fricked with it because THEY didn’t want a 1:1 remake. There comes a point where the artist has to step back and realize the thing they created had a life of its own after release. George Lucas was the poster child for this. The second version of A New Hope, aside from Greedo, was the easiest to swallow for this kind of shit where at least the Jaba scene brought back something that was left on the cutting room floor. Jedi is where you really see dementia stepping in with the stupid song destroying the pacing. By the time we get to the bluray release you have shit like Vader screaming “NO” because old man Lucas has lost touch entirely. Same goes for Spielberg with ET walkie talkies instead of guns. I try and leave Crystal Skull alone because they made a sequel, but it could be argued both of them as old men were fighting their younger selves in that movie. The tone is so different that it made Temple of Doom belong when that was considered the black sheep for 24 years. Time again we see this with original creators coming back to something 15-30 years later either in remake or sequel and it never turns out. The older one cannot understand what younger was doing and it always turns into Captain Hook hunting Peter Pan. The result is a shittier product than if they would have just done something else entirely. There is another side to this with the suits not getting it either and making sequels anyway, but that is a whole other rant.
TLDR, maybe we should just preserve the past and make new things.
holy shit its ok to change a story, but just fricking change it then. Don't fricking add time travel/alternate reality/fricking MYSTER homieS. It's fricking stupid.
I'm still on the fence as to whether they're just making this shit up as they go along or if it was all locked in years ago and now they're stuck with it and can't easily change course.
I'm still on the fence as to whether they're just making this shit up as they go along or if it was all locked in years ago and now they're stuck with it and can't easily change course.
I agree with the article despite wishing they had kept it more 1:1
Not knowing whether Aerith dies or how Zack's weird timeline fits in might be stupid anime bullshit but it does keep me engaged and paying close attention. Despite the lousy writing of characters, the expansion of the world lore is actually pretty good. I'm happy to see information about a Republic before the rise of ShinRa, I like the ongoing Wutai conflict, I like how Rufus is cunning in different goals. The nostalgia draws me in but its the little changes that keep me hooked.
Its also one of those things where I dont think modern Square could tell the same story twice as effectively.
That’s not what the article is saying, ESL
Damn if only FF7 was available on Steam or something so you could easily play the original story
No, they just don't care about it. It doesn't matter to them, only the message they are paid to promote.
>haha won't it be interesting if there's a 50/50 shot we assrape every important story beat?
No, that's not interesting or exciting. Only morons just want to see characters they recognize on screen regardless of what's happening in the story. There's a reason everything after the first "remake" will sell like shit.

Yeah I want more stories in the FF7verse, I want to see the franchise continue. The worst parts of FF7R is when it copy and pastes the old game.
If I want FF7, I can play FF7. You obviously can't since you're too busy sucking wiener.

I don't even remember a turk battle there in the og. There's already been so many turk fights already.
Also reds voice change is jarring and annoying
in the original, Turks battle were: Sector 7 pillar, gongaga, rocket Town, return to midgar, sunken plane. I think that's it.
They already said everyone involved in remake was bored of the original FFVII. It isn’t about keeping the audience interested and everything about keeping the moronic “creators” interested.

90% of the world loved Advent Children. The other 10% is you. 10% because you're a fat motherfricker.
>90% of the world loved Advent Children
The emo Cloud stuff has been shit on relentlessly since AC came out. Only dumb teenagers like it.
But enough about you.
>consistently 90 to 100 scores on IMDB
LMAO
>Purists can't stop thinking about wienersucking
Average Nomura wienersucker
Nomura and Lucas are the only people who's wieners I'd suck. Unlike you who consistently goes to your local gloryhole.
t. the kind of homosexual who'd defend turning their favorite series into a chinese mobile clone game because NU & CORPORATE = GOOD. Probably seethed about people mocking Blizzard for it.
Fricking have a nice day.
you can "LMAO" all you want but you're a low IQ minority (both irl and in this case) that slopped up Squeenix cum

FF7R2 is a flop, as everyone with a brain knew it would be
>only 165 morons
>vs. 200+ people of varying opinions
ROFLMAO
you lost, nice thread btw
nah you are
he is?
100%
lmao no even back then people only liked the Sepiroth fight scene and that's old hat now.
Non gamers are being prevalent in gaming nowadays just by lurking the comments or posts on social media a.k.a "the game needs an easy mode", "games dont have to be so hard" ect.
Are you really that illiterate or are you pretending to be stupid?
Story changes didn't turn people off.
It's the prolonged development that did. And it's being a trilogy that you have to play previous one plus OG plus compilation to understand. FF7 remake project was dead from the beginning, SE just overrated ff7 pull.
Compare to Resident evil, in which each game is a standalone game. It's easier for normies to pick up from any platform which helps in the long run.
I love FFVII on the psx!
>"We are able to give fans the excitement of wondering which ones of their nostalgic memories we will completely ruin and shit on, haha"
People who like remakes are truly the shit tier of people.
>the forced slow walking and time jannies were necessary to keep interest
>america: you think you do, but you don't
:l
>japan: you think you do, but you don't
Absolute blustering unnecessary fricking incompetence.
>more fun combat system
opinion discarded
Play a video game that's not a spreadsheet.
Stay out of genres that aren’t made for you
This. Everyone knows the gameplay of every video game ever made is objectively terrible.
Show me one remake that wasn't dogshit.
No, but it's been told already.
Spoken like someone with 0 vision.
holy shit its ok to change a story, but just fricking change it then. Don't fricking add time travel/alternate reality/fricking MYSTER homieS. It's fricking stupid.
I'm still on the fence as to whether they're just making this shit up as they go along or if it was all locked in years ago and now they're stuck with it and can't easily change course.
By the sons of it they making it up as they go and taking the audience's reaction to the previous into account
Wait wrong image lol
