Japan has the worst tastes in some aspects. Whenever favorite character polls get run, they almost always choose the dull self insert characters or just the main protagonist.
The original is among the best games in this series and the remake is too

Diamond and pearl are torturous games, very slow, hard to level up, lack of many basic Pokemon, pretty indifferent metagame... Very overrated. Platinum is far superior in everything to the ones here. BDSPs are just a level above DPs, but Platinum doesn't beat it...

The original Diamond and Pearl are amongst the worst games in the series. I really don't understand why people fellate the Gen 4 Sinnoh games so much. Even Platinum was only a marginal upgrade over Diamond and Pearl's base experience. The best thing Platinum did was remove some of the hm gimmicks plaguing most routes, and yet it's still such a miserable experience to get through.

Because they were the babby's first Pokémon game for some younger players. More nostalgia than actual quality.
I like playing Platinum the most out of gens 1-5 except maybe FRLG. VS Seeker and the Underground just makes a huge difference. Audino grinding and 5's level scaling is shit by the way.

While Platinum is obviously better, I would have been fine with the fact they were just raw DP remakes if not for the horrific visual style they went for. The game looks way worse than even Let's Go PE

Remakes for every gen were never about that. People hate this game because its the first remake to bring absolutely nothing to the table, because GF themselves decided to shit on the team working on it.
