It's really good. One of the best, if not the best RPG i've played in years but modding for it was light which is bad for an RPG. Underrail had the same issue, it's so perfect for modding but the devs did some moron shit with their code and said it would be way too complicated for them to make it mod friendly.
It's alright but that's just it, alright. Also is a bit too easy even on the highest difficulty while feeling somewhat imbalanced. I don't think you had particularly amazing build variety, either.
I entered this area too early and didn't have the skill to unlock the commie killing car by 1 point and missed, fricking stupid. still seething 2 years later
It's a fun game and no you can and should skip wasteland 2. Wasteland 2 is good but 3 cut out the fat and used the best aspects of 2 throughout the entire game. If you end up loving 3 then go back and play 2.
I uninstalled it after 8 hours because it never got good, shitty combat that requires zero thinking even though I picked the hardest mode
Cringe dialogues and plot, probably written by teenagers for teenagers
I want 8 hours of my life back
Seconding Troubleshooter. It's like an anime tactics game turned up to 11. The builds in that game are crazy. Pic related, it's an infinite reset build with 100% crit and cooldown reduction per kill.
What's crazy about this game is that this is a standard endgame build. It's not broken at all since there are so many enemies with so many bullshit defensive abilities (impulse fields, invincibility) that an infinite reset build is not as strong as it might sound.
As a fan of both xcom and wasteland I can say that that dumbass weeb shit does not appeal to me in the slightest and my friends that like dumbass weeb shit do not like xcom or wasteland so I think youre just a freak
The wasteland games dont inspire me to replay them like most other games. I think its the shitty writing. Nothing makes me feel invested in their world.
you could argue that it's just the natue of single player games, but W3 discussion completely died out, even compared to other crpgs. We have the ocassional BG/BG2 and pathfinder threads, and even the rare pillars of eternity thread every once in a while, but pretty much zero Wasteland discussion.
I've used several pretty busted weapon builds, though I think every weapon is viable with the right build. My favorites are: >Explosives pistol build with the HE pistol >SMG weird science build with a pivot to SMG explosives when you get the endgame SMG >High int sniper build >Shotgun explosives build using the Grenade Launcher with a hilariously wide ult arc (something close to 180 degrees)
In general, I found you need at least one good melee character/tank and one glass cannon. Your glass cannon should try to stack as much AP as possible through stuff like Vengeful Bond and your tank should wear all the armor and act as a CC bot/target dummy.
It wasn't. I'm playing through it now, despite never hearing about it when it released. I only played it since it was discussed here. I'm not sure if I would rate it as high as Divinity:OS2 but it's close.
Much like Fallout 2 and Wasteland 2, the early hours filter people hard but then it is fricking great once you get the hang of it.
If anything CRPGS like this do need a JRPG like tutorial mission where you start with a fully leveled up party that shows you what your character and party could look like and have you use every common skill (lockpicking, stealth, combat, big guns etc etc) and then that party lose to the Big Bad to setup the game, that would boost interest.
I think melee becomes insanely strong mid/late game. The only struggle is getting there. Secondary skill should be shotguns. Shotgun/melee is considered the strongest build for your main character.
Fist build is underwhelming for damage output but is crazy for CC. You can also dish out respectable damage with Shaolin Surprise, since your punches are 1 AP and stack to 5 within a single turn.
I’m pretty moronic at any build autism but it annoyed me how charisma boosted the special ability build rate, my guys with points invested in it carried me I think it was scotchmo with a shotgun and a custom smg guy
because it was a big step backwards from 2, which was a solid, massive crpg. Wasteland 3 felt like a consolified, casualized, sjw-curated reddit cashgrab. I'm glad i played through 2 before checking out 3, because if I hadn't, I would probably never have checked it out after playing through this trash heap
Battle for Steeltown is a thinly veiled commentary on Amazon. It's okay. The weapons from that dlc are pretty cool though, like the fireball rifle. Worth it if you're doing a fire build.
I saw you can use a classic Colt revolver. Is it something I can stick with for the entire game or will I be forced to switch to some dinky retro-future tech weapons?
I'm extremely surprised at the lack of screeching from polygon and kotaku in regards to this game. You can side with a Patrick Buchanan analogue, the Patriarch, if you want to.
yeah my build kinda sucks becuase I was being kind of moronic mid run and I'm more unexperienced with crpgs, but yeah I have my OC and vulture's cry and they do pretty good when I get to hit people but those sharpshooters and marksmen are just too far from their reach and the majority of attempts I do at closing in just a little bit ends badly
I want to play it
Why
It wasn't bad enough to be unforgiven.
Go ahead. There are some obvious parts of the map undeveloped but the story's there.
I dunno name a game that isn't forgotten a month after launch
skyrim

I always come back for the soundtrack
The WKRP in Cincinnati caught me way off guard
It's alright but that's just it, alright. Also is a bit too easy even on the highest difficulty while feeling somewhat imbalanced. I don't think you had particularly amazing build variety, either.
Some rpgs give you ending slides based on the choices you've made. Wasteland 3 gives you a BALLAD.
>tfw you die in the car room and get a special ending ballad saying how embarrassing it is that you died
That's actually really cool. Definitely peaked my interest in playing this game.
>peaked my interest
with all dude respect, you idiots are a diamond dozen
You're making a mountain out of a mole hole.
I entered this area too early and didn't have the skill to unlock the commie killing car by 1 point and missed, fricking stupid. still seething 2 years later
is the game fun? do i need to play wasteland 2 first or something?
not really but the directors cut of 2 is good
It's a fun game and no you can and should skip wasteland 2. Wasteland 2 is good but 3 cut out the fat and used the best aspects of 2 throughout the entire game. If you end up loving 3 then go back and play 2.
Who else here was Team Patriarch? Angela Deth was a crazy psycho b***h.
Everyone, as it's the only correct path.
Shadowrun but only some are good.
I love the turn based with guns and hiding behind objects gameplay of these games, what else can I play? I already played xcom2 to death
Othercide, it's a hidden gem, it's brutal as frick but is mostly melee-oriented.
>t. played a lot of xcom and shadowrun games
Really? The reviews says that it's quite boring with 3 classes.
Troubleshooter. Blows nu-XCOMs out of the water
Braindead Korean game that tries to bring Korean MMO aspects to singleplayer
Good pick if you're a nolifer with too much free time though
Compared to Wasteland 3 and XCOM2 it's still a masterpiece.
Can frick a goat in Wasteland 3, can't in troubleshooter.
I uninstalled it after 8 hours because it never got good, shitty combat that requires zero thinking even though I picked the hardest mode
Cringe dialogues and plot, probably written by teenagers for teenagers
I want 8 hours of my life back
sounds like you got filtered by the timers

dunno about gameplay, but I wouldn't be recommending people who like XCOM and Wasteland weebshit. guess it's nice that format is expanding?
I like all three games. Maybe not everyone is anti-weeb like you?
wow how inciteful, it never really occurred to me that people might actually like weebshit on a malaysian raft crafting forum.
As a fan of both xcom and wasteland I can say that that dumbass weeb shit does not appeal to me in the slightest and my friends that like dumbass weeb shit do not like xcom or wasteland so I think youre just a freak
Anime weebsite
thinking of pulling the trigger and checking this out
Gears of War Tactics is actually really good. I definitely recommend it. It's better than the TPS entries
Valkyria Chronicles 4.
The wasteland games dont inspire me to replay them like most other games. I think its the shitty writing. Nothing makes me feel invested in their world.
I dont think there's much to say. It was pretty fun but short. Great soundtrack too.
you could argue that it's just the natue of single player games, but W3 discussion completely died out, even compared to other crpgs. We have the ocassional BG/BG2 and pathfinder threads, and even the rare pillars of eternity thread every once in a while, but pretty much zero Wasteland discussion.
Not much to discuss, it feels like a half baked game.
elaborate
Not on the Switch.
Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
I remember dropping it halfway, give me a fun weapon skill to go with this time.
Assault rifle seems to be the best, from what I've seen.
shotguns get moronic by the end
Only liked the first half of the game everything after that got progressively worse especially the dlcs
Minigun + rocket launcher

I have never touched melee/brawl in a wasteland game how are they? It's either that or heavy/explosives.
I think melee becomes insanely strong mid/late game. The only struggle is getting there. Secondary skill should be shotguns. Shotgun/melee is considered the strongest build for your main character.

Are the dlc worth it? It's like 2 yuro coins difference for the bundle.
Battle for Steeltown is a thinly veiled commentary on Amazon. It's okay. The weapons from that dlc are pretty cool though, like the fireball rifle. Worth it if you're doing a fire build.
It wasn't very good
boring characters, boring setting, boring world, boring gameplay
these rpg's continually fail at keeping me invested all the way through them
I saw you can use a classic Colt revolver. Is it something I can stick with for the entire game or will I be forced to switch to some dinky retro-future tech weapons?
You will be forced to switch as the higher tier pistols do considerably more damage Rattler pistol is the only exception
Did they ever do anything with the coma lady?
>RPG mechanics got simplified
>DLCs are fricking horrible
>Level scaling
>Filled with SJW
>Bugs bugs bugs
Idk. I pirated it after someone showed me you can basically make goblins in it.
I'm extremely surprised at the lack of screeching from polygon and kotaku in regards to this game. You can side with a Patrick Buchanan analogue, the Patriarch, if you want to.
W/CRPG's are relentlessly and aggressively dull.
Imagine marrying liberty and having the patriarch as your father in law.
>marrying liberty
She's a cute
I'm too cheap to get into the newer isometric rpgs. All my past buys were under 5 and these blood suckers almost never drop that low.
THE FINAL COCHISE BOSS IN WASTELAND 2 IS FRICKING BULLSHIT WITH HIS STUPID OVERPOWERED SYNTH MARKSMEN
Literally just get gud anon. Pistol crit build with all the range attachments/skills or sniper headshots take them down in 2-3 shots at most.
yeah my build kinda sucks becuase I was being kind of moronic mid run and I'm more unexperienced with crpgs, but yeah I have my OC and vulture's cry and they do pretty good when I get to hit people but those sharpshooters and marksmen are just too far from their reach and the majority of attempts I do at closing in just a little bit ends badly
I will give it to the devs, I thought it would be much woker than it was... not that I would recommend or pay for it ofc.
Because normies don't like isometric RPGs.
Are you even in the realm to talk about this when you say this is an isometric rpg
no clue, I happened to really enjoy it
