Brotato -- doubles down on the bullet-hell aspect, with a small, cramped area of play that makes movement and dodging important. Lovely cast of characters and weapons that brings some great variety to each run.
Soulstone Survivors -- brings in Diablo-esque classes and skills, allowing one character to specialize in multiple different "builds" over the course of each run.
Brotato's been my fav lately, though. Great little game to fire up for a quick run here and there.
My Girlfriends loves to play this game, she even have it on her phone. I think I'll upgrade my current Steam Deck and give it to her, i'll get myself the OLED one, even bought her the vampire survivor SD startup animation. So cute.

Not really. Even Vampire Survivor itself has better character variety because it has characters have passive abilities that make them more suitable for certain builds. In Holocure you just slap the same weapons and passives on fricking everyone because they don't specialise in anything.
Are we even talking about the same game?
As far as I know, VS characters don't have passive abilities unless they added that in after the 1.0 update since I stopped playing after they released more paid DLCs, unless you're talking about different base stats and starting weapon, that every character can pick up once you unlock them.
In Holocure every character actually has a unique main weapon, passive skills and supers, and their main weapon and passives pretty much dictates which secondary weapons and items you should aim for for better synergy, like for example some character do better if you pick up multi hit and crit related weapon and items since their passive boost their crit rate and damage, while some do better if you pick up defensive items that shields you because they gain special effects at max HP or another one that activates special effects when they heal their HP so you pick up life steal and heal over time items.
Maybe it's a new thing but now every character has a passive ability that makes them specialize in certain areas. Characters might have something like "every level gain 1% area" or "every 20 levels add an extra projectile to weapons" or stuff like that so what character you're using changes what weapons and passive you'd be best off bringing which makes different characters a lot more interesting than in Holocure where although the main weapons and ultimate moves are interesting, what you pick when you level up never changes.
I don't get how to unlock everything in this game, half the challenges in the unlock screen don't actually make sense and tell me nothing about what I need to do to unlock them.
