I'm not the race who shoots each other in record number, but what do I know. I guess being black is SO great you have to commit crimes about it. Seethe at our superiority pavement ape.

when I was a kid I beat it in an hour and couldn't get through the shadow or spirit temple. as an adult it took me a bit longer, but I couldn't get through the forest temple without a guide.

I never got the hate for this temple, not even the "you spend so much time pausing and un-pausing" argument. Maybe it's because I never minded it, since N64 Zelda menus were fast (and soulful), or maybe it's because I liked the aesthetic of the temple and the Dark Link fight. I don't know.

If anything, it's the Fire Temple that filtered me, because it was my least favorite one. I never remember much about it whenever I play the game, even though every other temple stands out to me.

Exactly. The game's menu is an instant thing so taking the boots on and off was never really a chore, and you're not doing it for times shit. And dark link fights are always good. The hate made no sense.

Played the game the day it came out on N64. Didn't get filtered, but sure as hell have no desire to go through that again without a guide.

yeah but its not a just legal thing. unsanctioned coming can lead to nitrogen gas inflating your testes and they have to send a guy out to let the air out of your balls.

no, I never minded the water temple as a whole. the only part I ever got stuck on was I always would forget to go under the platform in the central pillar after raising the water level, but that part has been burned into my mind forever now.

Beat it as a kid i was kinda proud when i figured out that hidden chest below the infamous floating platform

Nah. Forest Temple scared kid me though, had to get my older brother to do it. Odd considering I've always loved the Shadow Temple.

Didn't have a problem as a kid in the 90's, don't have a problem with it now as an adult. Easy dungeon.

I honestly liked it an enjoyed it so seeing memes decades later about how much people hated it just doesn't make sense. Same with the "hey listen". That never seemed to be something she said too much and I never thought it was annoying.

Honestly these memes always felt like the pineapple on pizza joke feels. Like the hate is overblown just to be dramatic and funny, but a lot of bandwagoning idiots latch onto it and repeat it to fit in despite not having an opinion on it previously.

The only thing that filtered me was the boss of the shadow temple. My moronic 10 year old brain at the time couldn't put two and two together that you needed the special item you got for that area to beat the boss of that area. So I needed a strategy guide I borrowed from a kid at school to learn that you used the lens of truth to see it.

But the water temple? I wandered it but it never felt long or complicated.

No raising the water levels repeatedly and needing them at specific heights fricking sucks when you're key searching on a blind play through

It didnt filter anyone it was just bogged down by a dungeon gimmick that sounded good in theory but turned out to be bad game design in practice

      Anonymous

that sounds like bullshit. The only key is the boss key and the order of things means you're not raising it up and down multiple times, more just once or twice per floor. You get the map, then the compass, neither are hard, then you know where the boss key is.

I think the reason people got mad at this level was just that they were missing obvious shit in front of them or overthinking it so they're make the water go up and down and up and down searching the same corners instead of opening their damn map to see where they'd been.

the small key in the central pillar that wasnt in a chest was easy to miss. checking rooms for things you missed was a pain in the ass because of the water level thing, and to a lesser extent the iron boots menuing

Yeah I mean it’s not complex
