I downloaded it for free off an official blizzard site and used a random key I found online (not reforged obvs). There's no reason to pay for it in current year. I'm not interested in online play though. I'm just replaying the campaign and playing old custom maps alone or against AI.

wc3 is too hard for me ill admit it. Multiple active abilities on a ton of different units and items and levelling on top of that shit.
Low unit counts mean that losing units is more impactful and harder to macro out of.
I can get joy out of RTS but not at the wc3 pace.

you dont need to buy reforged to play online. as long as you have the original game on your bnet account you're fine
