Will have fun laughing at metal diaper, baby faced man.
It's a Star Ocean, it will be mediocre at best and a trainwreck at worst, hopefully there will be enough space kushana porn to at least salvage it in case it's the latter.
Akiman's kinda wasted on this much like the previous games
at least post the trailer if you're gonna make a thread
This is about the news we'll get in a couple days, who cares about a year old trailer?
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time both was the peak of the series and the death of it. Anything you put out after that doesn't make sense.
I loved SO3 but still hate the twist and think it was wrong to pull that shit in the middle of an established series.
Really hoping the unrevealed characters are ayys. Won't feel right without at least one beast person.
Does a Robot Samurai count?
I hate all 3 of these. Please let the joke be this is a PSO2 screenshot or something.
I legit thought they were building up to a reveal that MC had PTSD from watching all his loved ones die in front of him
Instead we got...what we got
we haven't had a good Star Ocean game in a long, long time. I expect the game to be shit.
I'm probably one of like 3 Star Ocean fans on this board. It's my favorite jrpg series and I love all the games, even the bad ones (2 is the best btw)
What I've seen looks alright but there really isn't much to go on. I think the 2 protagonists thing is a good idea and will make replays more bearable. I hope the events change enough to make a second replay required though.
The faces are hideous though and I hope they look better on release though I doubt it.
I'm thinking of trying 4 on Steam, is it worth playing? The combat looks fun
the gameplay is pretty fun but holy shit are the story dialogue and character bad.
Really wish they'd put 1 2 and 3 on Steam
yeah but it has skimpily dressed e-girl catgirls
UOOOOOOOOOH SEEEEGGGGGGGGS
How come Fayt, a normie even if he was a lab rat, was more seious and less childish than the military brat?
What with claude? Its cause being a military brat when your dad is a big dick military legend is an easy recipe for rebelling against his legacy in an attempt to find self-worth
Also because his mom never actually loved his dad
I mean Edge, bro.
My bad for not saying which military brat tho, sorry.
Because the PS2 generation came before otaku culture and anime pandering had completely settled in and Japanese companies were allowed to make things that don't hit the share holders' checklists of archetypes and tropes that sell dakimuras and statues.
>the gameplay is pretty fun but holy shit are the story dialogue and character bad.
that's every game in the series.
1 and 2 don't have good gameplay
My expectations are dewey from malcolm in the middle tier, but if i have one hope its FOR THE FRICKING TIMELINE TO MOVE FORWARD PAST THE SO3 TWIST
They confirmed 6's place in the timeline at announcement last year. It's about 50 years after 5 and nearly 200 years before 3. They will never move past 3.

Nice to have a date. Hopefully there's a release date.
4 have a bad dungeon design, some annoying boss in late game and the last dungeon was boring as frick.
The good thing was the battle system , Star Ocean was meant to be a hacknslashy since 3.
Still, I don't have hope because Tri ace can't make decent dungeons, I even have more optimism for Valkyrie Elyseum because is made by Ninja Gaiden 1-2 guys
I still don't understand what went so wrong with SO5. Goddamn, what a step down in every way. Was it just budget?
It really wasn't that bad, they were probably trying to do a SO1 reboot with how little sci fi we got tho.
Considering the big space battle the player never gets to see but are assured is happening right outside the ship I'm going to say budget was a concern for sure.
This seems way more ambitious than 5 so my hopes are up on the basis that the team actually gives a shit. We'll see later I guess
I hope it's fantastical and sci-fiey with great exploration and areas. I want fun combat, and I don't want party members that are too animefied, but instead feel more realistic with an anime art style. I want to be excited to level up, and get rewarded nicely when I do. I want good voice acting, and a thrilling space/fantasy narrative. I want side quests that don't feel like a waste of time. I want an open world that doesn't feel exhausting. I don't want it cluttered with too much shit. I want everything to matter and have significance.
I seem to be the only Star Ocean fan that loved all 5 games.
And I am excited to get another sequel.
And I hope someday to see Star Ocean 2 get a modern remake.
I think you might be the only Star Ocean fan.
Nah, I'm one too. I love all 5 games for different reasons and I always want more of it. They scratch a very particular itch.
FRICK square enix for now giving these games proper budgets
These games got better budget than most of Square's IPs for some reason, they were anything but low budget, Tri-Ace is just incompetent.
Nah, Star Ocean 5 was low budget compared to the previous two entries
>Nah
Yes, look at things like Mana, SaGa, NieR etc., SO4/SO5 got bigger budget than any of those, don't even try to pretend otherwise, let's not defend Tri-Ace's glaring incompetence in handling this franchise and put the blame on their publisher.
Besides, budget is the least of the issues SO5 has, the gameplay's badly designed all around, the music is just background noise and the overall narrative is terrible.
I could care less about the shitty cutscenes where everyone has seizures when they talk, I could care less about not seeing the space battles, I totally care about shitty battle systems, or the horrible writing, it's the same problem as all the SO where they frontloaded all the production values for pretty graphics and voice acting without thinking about making the game good to play.
Trials of Mana was made with a fraction of the budget of SO4/5 and yet it was a much better ARPG by far, the issue isn't the budget, the issue is that Tri-Ace is filled with hacks.
Tri-Ace's only actual good games are VP1 and Silmeria.
I just recently remembered infinite undiscovery existed. How was that one?
It's fantastic. My favorite game they ever made. The voice work is fricking trash tho.
DINNER DINNER DINNER!
radiata stories is good
It is alright. Play it again after VP2 and you can see how it is just a tech demo for the game - it has the same 2.5d side scrolling environments, the party movement systems (link in Radiata and whatever it was called in Silmeria) are very similar. I honestly might replay it after I finish up Minstrel Song.
I tried VP1 and just couldn't get into it. I thought it was boring as hell. Also, Nordic mythology gets overused in gaming.
this game looks like it's going to mog tales of arise but i'm not going to get my hopes up because there hasn't been a single good star ocean game yet
>Any other Star Ocean fans here?
I've only played 3 since I went pc only after my PS2 died.
Are the psp remakes worth playing or should I emulate the ps1 originals?
I haven't liked any of the Star Ocean games I've tried but maybe this one will be better
Only passable Star Ocean was the first and second ones.
The others have all sucked dick, so why in the frick would anyone be excited for this?
Scratch that, why the frick do they keep making these games while they let vastly superior series rot?
Probably some old farts from Tri Ace who have pull so they can develop these.
But yeah SO is Squeeze's cheapest series.
They are about to. Star Ocean 6.
I kind of hope they expand on SO3's twist
After the big shock of it, it's kind of surface level with the way they approached it.
If they go in on it they could really home in on the Star Trek influence
The achievements are up, 3 months early, for whatever reason.
They spoil pretty much the entire story flow of the game, as well as there being three more party members, secret bosses and paired endings for the protagonists with party members and each other.
Look at your own risk:

Frick it's looking great <33333!!
just started playing the original snes game and the combat is confusing me. how the frick do I use items and shit? the only option seems to be to do a normal attack.
M8. There are only so many buttons on the controller. Just press them until you finds the menu button. A baby could figure this out. A dead baby!
