You mean Nintendo didn't value it
They alienated third parties
they gimped their hardware potential by using mini disks
and they didn't do shit with this gimmick either
>Finally all these years later I see the value of unlocking a feature in a game I had to spend more money on to link it to another game I also had to buy. >And the "value" is only apparent because this feature is excluded in the remaster on a system
I got metroid fusion on launch and bought metroid prime a fear years after it came out so I didn't really have a problem with this myself but yeah this is actually cheap as frick.
>on a system that now has both aforementioned games you need to link*
Like shit, the least they could have done was make it unlockable again by buying fusion.
Better yet, the wii version had it unlocked through the credit system. There is no way they couldn't have done that on the switch.
>Better yet, the wii version had it unlocked through the credit system.
I had no idea. Fricking misers.
>oh no, I had to buy two of the best games Nintendo ever made
The problem was I had to buy a Nintendie authentication cable to use a feature already on a disk. I had both games already. It's dumb formless shit like that that makes me question them the most. They let you use it because you're a patron of both games, yet they won't let you use it in the base game to you know...advertise fusion? To let new players know those games even exist? It's the that kind of sneaky shit that helps them breed the types of fanatics we all know and hate. It's what also fricked them with Wii U.
i remember thinking only absolute morons would plug a handheld console into a console when rescuing tingle in wind waker for the first time. yeah, i was a bit of a based child you could say
I was annoyed with how underutilized DS/Wii connectivity was after they pushed this, since it didn't need the accessory. But I guess they didn't need to sell the cable. Local multiplayer with MH3U on 3DS/Wii U was awesome though.
things used to be so comfy
I try not to go down these nostalgia rabbit holes too often because it causes physical pain in my chest. Not even kidding.

When I was a kid I bought one of these cables because I thought I could play GC games on my GBA.
>jirachi from pokemon collesium
>four swords zelda dungeon gimmick
what else was it used for?
The island in Animal Crossing
FF Chrystal Chronicles
4 swords online remake would be the shit. Shocked it hasn't happened yet.
In MMXCM, it serves as a radar screen to help you find items.
Unlocking the fusion suit and being able to play Metroid 1 in Metroid Prime
Multi battles with bros every weekend for years and years
The Tingle tuner in Wind Waker, and there was a multi-player Pac-Man game too that looked pretty cool but I never got to play it
Animal Crossing
Sonic Advance Chaos
if you have the gamecube version of crash twoc you can play some minigame called "crash blast"
Did anyone else's optical disk reader frick up and often refuse to read disks? Seems common. Still wish I kept mine

Prime 1 and Fusion aren't even the best in their respective genres.
agree to disagree homosexual

>he never played four swords with his friends
Sucks to be you
Everytime people overrate the Gamecube I remember this gimmicky shit and return it to the trash where it belongs.

>when you found out you could connect the DS to the Wii to download demos
To this day I feel shame for buying those useless overpriced cables
