In 2010 no one would care if you called a game from the year 2000 nostalgic like Deus Ex, Majora's Mask or Diablo II. Skyrim is a 10 year old game and people can be nostalgic for it, even if you think it isn't good. I remember the day it came out because I was in college at the time tbh.

      Pretty much this
I was nearly 20 when it came out, pirated and played it on a shittop at <20fps as soon as it dropped. The intro really was striking and I don't mean the wagon, but that illusion once you're out, it felt like good stuff
Hyped my friends up describing those early game experiences, just to realise shortly before they did that it's all the same

        >that illusion once you're out, it felt like good stuff
this, the game felt really great at first after opening up, but unfortunately after putting some hours you realise that there really just isn't that much interesting stuff to do, and all the dungeons ar basically copy pasted

      >I remember the day it came out because I was in college at the time tbh.
It came out on my friend's birthday and I drove to the mall to get it for him. Also I agree with your general point. Humans are bad at processing time.

it's ten years old next month. there are people posting right the frick now who "grew up" with skyrim. jesus fricking christ.

the problem is that it's the single most dumbed down entry in it's own franchise, and is exceedingly popular not in spite of that, but BECAUSE of that dumbing down. it's a shit game with no depth that spits on every preceding entry's existence, but is hard carried by normalgay's shit fricking taste and mods that pretend to make it a not-shit game. nobody cares about being nostalgic for dudesex because it's a great fricking game with significant depth. it earned it's nostalgia. there's also this shit

people are against being nostalgic for a game with three releases in a 10 year span.

I've had nostalgia for Minecraft for a while now.
Playing the game with friends back in elementary and building things we thought was cool like a big mansion, roller coaster, or just a giant hill of TNT.
Now I am in my 20s and no game can compare to my Minecraft nostalgia.

That feels bad because they just kept putting out new ports of Skyrim instead of a new game. The game is like a decade old. I was in high school when it released and tried it when visiting a friend because his younger brother had it.

Don't know the mods involved but one of my mates turned it into an extreme cold survival simulator, even then he came away saying it was fun for a bit but at its heart it's still Skyrim

not if you don't like sandbox dungeon crawling, I enjoy it because I can do it with a half naked chick of my choice, but I will always enjoy Morrowind more because of its rpg mechanics still in place

A while ago I was talking about TES with a friend and I accidentally called TES6 Skyrim 2 because everything's been Skyrim for a fricking decade. We're going to get a 20th anniversary edition of Skyrim before we get a new game.
