You don't have to interact with the code to make games in Unity. People train heavily on skills that only really "work" in that engine.

Not in this particular case though.
So many things you do in Unity are engine specific. C# is even hard to recognize after over a decade.

There's a lot more to an engine than just the programming language. People know Unity's innards, all the components, addons, libraries, etc. inside out and it would take a lot of commitment and relearning to switch. Moving past that, porting projects is also a cost. Most Unity users will accept the apology despite israelites who caused this whole debacle still running the company unpunished.

Those infest ALL communities. None are safe, especially Unreal and Unity. Godot is not an example of a failed engine due to degenerate subhumans.

But the Ravioli shills tho. Fricking hell, the shills will be quick to remind you about travesties, such as:
        1. Performance of 2k+ real time physics bodies that no one will ever use. Unreal or custom engine users alike.
        2. 5 year old issues that were solved.
        3. Juan being a weirdo, but ultimately fixing his shit. Like it's a bad thing.
        4. Godot not being ready for Bethesda style AAA GRAPHEXXX. Meaning no 70k+ polys per simple cube, multiple PBR 16k textures, outsourcing to changs and pajeets.
        5. Free space to post your examples.

Unity fricked up bad. No amount of shilling will fix it. The license matters. And the MIT one seems better than the CCP shit from Unreal, or the "We're sorry you caught us fricking up" one from Unity.

Godot reigns supreme, until proven otherwise.

          >Juan being a weirdo, but ultimately fixing his shit
I've been waiting 3+ for a stable collision detection routine. Godot physics absolutely suck if you're aiming for stability. I am the point where i've just figured out how to retrieve CORRECT collision surfaces myself so my character controller doesn't fricking wiggle and jiggle everytime it touches a sharp edge or corner. Somehow 4.1 has made things even more janky in terms of physics.
Shaders and node heirachy is good though.

No one wanted this, but it's pretty much the only option they get if they want to put food on the table if they are years deep into development. I expect after the next batch of Unity releases in 2024, most people will switch to Unreal, or to Godot now that it is recieving a massive amount of support and will probably start building it's own asset store and beginner friendly templates. Because let's not lie, the reason Unity is so popular while other engines languish is because you can just buy "horror game template" and make one in a week.

Unless your company is so financially massive that you can lawyer up if Unity tries shit like this again, you're looking elsewhere for stability.

Yeah, people who think its fine because it only applies to 2024 onwards lack any long term thinking.
If you're a serious developer you're likely going to export to consoles at some point, which if the switch 2 comes out next year you'll have to upgrade to 2024. Then when the ps6/xbox two come out you're going to have to upgrade to 2026 or something, and who knows what the next israeli trick will be by then.

Less games coming out is a bad thing regardless of how much money it makes Schlomo Ratdov, which is the real name of a real person whom I'm supposed to care about the financial status of over what kind of games come out.

Still worse than what they had. regardless of how you sugar coat it, no one would have accepted these terms prior to this shitshow. they're only accepting of it now because they were threatened with way worse terms for anyone who isn't already an established publisher.

Unity's strength was that you didn't NEED a publisher to make games. It was simple, fast, had tons of assets on its store, and no one needed a third party to license any assets or pat any backs to use the engine. This change was an attempt to kill that and you can't be so disingenuous enough to see how that's a bad thing.

Aside from the shills and fanboys, trust to Unity is permanently gone.
Solely, the only way for Unity to restore trust is if their board fires the CEO and the other guy that dumped his stock portfolio, and guarantees for their consumers a legally binding 10 year contract of simplified and fixed rates.
They already lost 10% of their share values and it's only going to get worse when the corporations see greener pastures in Unreal and finally cut Unity off in their projects.

I'm just gonna say this, anyone that still trusts Unity after this deserves EVERYTHING that happens to them? Riccitiello and his cronies are still in charge of the whole operation and morons are just gonna take their word for it that they promise to do no more bad things. You can't help people like that. The only way they'll learn is to suffer.

Ban these words from corporate vernacular, and they'll have nothing to say
    >community
    >dedicated
    >committed
    >support
    >diversity
    >inclusion/inclusive
    >toxic

Sounds like a lot of astroturfing to me.
