Leaving Midgar felt like a fricking achievement, and it was just the beginning of a grand adventure with even higher highs and lower lows.

Persona is in no way comparable to a traditional jrpg. It's a multi genre game with a ton of stuff obscuring the main combat loop. I've only played p4 but it doesn't feel at all like playing a ff game. There's tons of stuff to break up the monotony of random encounters and having hot datable waifus is never a handicap.

You see, some, when saying that, will refer to a game that is like FFVIIR but with the exact same script as the OG, of which you will then have different opinions on whether there should be any changes to the battle system, be it the battle itself, and/or whether there should be random encounters or a different way to start non-story-scripted battle-encounters.
Then you have the even tighter crowd who will absolutely and utterly despite any of those ideas and demand the graphics not to become full 3D but rather to maintain the same "charm" as the OG via using pre-rendered backgrounds, and they'll not take "no" for an answer.
Then you also have other issues like minor changes and whether retcons and/or additions to fit into the compilation lore should be allowed or not, and if yes, should they be for all of them or just for certain ones?
And then there's also the crowd that would refuse any of those because the complete lack of additions of content or at least too small scale of changes, or possibly the lack of upgraded graphics (if SE listened to the pre-rendered background purists, for example), because they'd feel cheated to pay full price for what is essentially the same game from over 20 years ago just with prettied up graphics. It's not like they can just take it at half price, considering no matter what, the costs in time and money for reproducing the OG with modern graphics in full with every single OG feature included would be astronomically higher than the OG.
So how the frick would you go about satisfying all of these groups, or at least the majority, and still make a profit? I guess the most realistic course would be to just toss the high-graphix crowd out the window and go with a stylistic remake that would be able to run on the switch. But that would make the whole point of the remake in "new graphics" kinda moot.

Just got past the temple of the ancients and I'm having a grand time with it. The graphics are crude but the gameplay is fun and the story is charming. What more do you need?

This is how I feel about the RE2 remake. It's a good enough game but I wanted the same treatment that the first REmake on GameCube got. But people overall got tired of tank controls and pre-rendered graphics/static cameras even by the time the REmake came out so it was never gonna happen. Basically the FF7 remake and the RE2 remake are not for us, they're for people that want to play these games with updated controls and modern gameplay mechanics. You just gotta get over it.

I know the intention and it doesn't automatically make it good or intelligent.nomura is a moron. Final Fantasy 7 was his only good work and he wants to one up it with ridiculous plot twists and BS because he's a pretentious snob.

And then you would have the "but what's the point! We wanted a remake with real modern 3D graphics! What a load of garbage, and to think they demanded full price for... THIS?" crowd, among which would be especially a lot of young folks. So much for getting a "new young generation" interested. That kind of remake would 100% be a nostalgia-appealing game aimed purely at old fans with only minimal expectations for anyone else.
