>we need to make games that require 1000W power supplies and $1500+ rigs because... we just have to, okay!!!!
when can we finally say the graphics are good enough and actually start focusing on the gameplay? minecraft is the best selling game of all time and has dogshit graphics, clearly they dont matter.

Wrong board
it's much easier to do impressive graphics than impressive gameplay. The latter requires some originality and creativity
But we actually don't, we make games for base hardware consoles and the 1# spot hardware on Steam survey. The biggest market segment.
Modded Skyrim will look and run better than the left image lmao
>run better
Definitely not.
hard to tell unreal is well made and runs well and gamebro or whatever dogshit the morons at bethesda rp as game engine devs use runs like shit but isn't demanding.
If we're talking about ENB, ReShade or their likes (the stuff that imparts the biggest graphical difference), then the game will run pretty poorly. That's where Unreal has the upper hand.
Bite me
last I heard that game was still a buggy mess 2 years after release
> Blurry background
> Static water texture with some moving water that spazzes in and out of existence
> Ground/Grass looks nothing like it should look
I'm sorry, but that looks awful.
minecraft sucks. It's fun for a week and then it's boring. We should always be pushing the boundaries of tech like we always have
>gameplay deficiencies have to be fixed by muh graphics
the absolute state of "gamers"
>we must always cuck ourselves out of new technology because of nostalgia glasses
>illiterate homosexual cannot even comprehend the simplest of sentences
take your meds, you're being delirious
Is that a based quote of a based guy on a based image used by a based guy like yourself (based)?
>Associate professor of culture and technology
>stony brook
lmao
i fricking hate minecraft i remember when it was shilled on Ganker for free
There's something seriously wrong with graphics development. Anyone else feels this way?
>he plays games for the graphics and not the gameplay
imagine being a AAA drone
>when can we finally say the graphics are good enough and actually start focusing on the gameplay?
When normies will finally understand that they shouldn't trust corporations, which push for maximum technical fidelity, while dumbing down everything else, because "muh casual/FIFA/CoD/gamejourno/whatever crowd"
Very nice... Now show the characters moving 🙂
minecraft does not have dogshit graphics.
cybertroony does
Stop being poor and upgrade already. And my rig draws only about 700w at full load.
>rig
kek, i used to say this too when i hade a plexi glass case
>minecraft
Is ridiculously demanding game. It freezes and stutters even on the most powerful rigs. At least without Sodium or OptiFine.
its not tho its just a lot of the game work is single threaded and poorly optimized
Damn, it's amazing how much better Unreal5 engine looks.
i half agree
backgrounds, buildings, scenery don't mean shit
but the PEOPLE, the HUMANS, we're kinda there but there's room for improvement
Because an entire generation, hell several generations, were raised believing that muh grafix is the most important thing ever. This way game designers don't need to worry about gameplay or story or art direction or sound mixing and score or any of the other parts that make up a game. They just need to shit out more polygons and particle effects and their garbage will sell.
Except graphics obsession was more common from the 90s-mid 2000s, where games coming out just years apart felt like they belonged in a different dimension. Basically the uplift from a 2022 title, and something that came out on the 360 with decent art direction and optimization is marginal, imo less than the PS2-360 jump was.
Nobody cares about graphics anymore, titles slip years and they still look current.
