Every other developer and publisher should think twice before trying to push their bullshit on us PC gamers.

Needed the government to step to even allow game refunds.

Leave a still active, long beloved game in a broken state leaving said hopelessly attached playerbase to suffer and refuse to fix it because "it's not worth bothering with".

        Popularise skinnerbox marketing tactics.

No, it’s very anti gamer. You are supporting the death of gaming with Valve Corp.

      Valve allowed helldivers to happen

Valve never offered refunds and fought it to the supreme courts

Valve Geo Lock is the same garbage nonsense as Sony

Valve censorship is willing by all employees

Valve lawsuits include American government involvement

      Valve is anti gaming

      >EA, Ubisoft, Sony, etc.
Yes you do, you should have read the rules

i mean how are you at all surprised?
Sony does this shit all the time and gets away with it.
they killed DUST514 by forcing the devs to make it a PS3 exclusive the month before the PS4 was supposed to come out, only because they didnt want DUST514 to compete with Planetside 2
Then Sony fricked up Planetside 2 by putting a purple-haired karen in charge, who fricked up the game's updates, never fixed lag/framerate issues and then they sold the game off to even worse do-nothing devs.
Last i checked PS2 had less than 500 players online

The reason Valve does nothing and wins is because they dont have 20 richgays in suits telling them to make bad business decisions so they can pump and dump their stock value.

      >people unironically preferred cd keys
This doesn't sound remotely convincing to anyone who has ever had to use cd keys. I pirated digital versions of all my old physical games just so I don't have to bother with those things again.

Then you weren't around back then and are just LARPing.

People hated Steam for the same reason they hate Origin, PSN, Epic, etc. People didn't want to register for a service (we were used to using cd keys and maybe gamespy/x-fire or something else secondarily), it was buggy and things constantly broke, ugly as shit, the "you dont actually own the game you bought hand we can take it from you" wasnt normalized yet, etc.

It gradually got better but that was years later.

How many years has PSN still sucked? Until XboxLive for 360, I cannot remember a time when console-online content was nearly as seamless. Even so, I don't think anyone other than Valve thought that putting effort into making their platform would be beneficial to the bottom line. 20 fricking years of work paid off and now the zoomers can't remember a time when it did suck.

it's true that in the beginning it sucks because it was completely different from the norm, which is buying CDs. The catalogue was lacking, the features bareboned. It's nothing more than bloat.
But overtime, Valve did something that most game launcher of this very day failed to do: they turned Steam into a big community. You can have the wackiest of Steam profile, upload your mods, write guides, share your games with friends for free, all the cool shit, for a low cost and even free.
They innovated it from a shit ass bloated storefront to a program rich of features. That's why they are winning hard against "competitions" that offered none of the features and all of the headaches.

this is not the deal breaker
the most attractive point is that as long as the steam launcher is installed and logged in on ANY DEVICE I should be able to play my games, BUT THE RAT BASTARDS WONT LET ME LOG IN ON NVIDIA'S GEFORCE NOW PC AND PLAY MY GAMES THERE CAUSE FRICK YOU THATS WHY
