It's not their fault. Xbox was a killer product and their library was better. Their mistake was trying to break snoy conditioning. It's snoy fanboy's faults for not dropping their dogshit console and supporting the ones actually making quality vidya.

I haven't bought a single Xbox games for 12 years until HiFi Rush came out. And I got that on PC instead of Xbox. You couldn't hope to tell me a "killer product" Microsoft has made that I believe is such.

every cross platform game runs better on playstation than on xbox. even hifi rush runs better on playstation. the people of xbox even said no, we will not make better videogames. xbox is like an abusive husband, and xbox players the 95lb woman getting battered, while pc gays are the friend telling them to stay with him. Nintendo is just some random person who is oblivious to it all.

      Nope, it's 100% their fault.
Gal Gun Returns for Xbone was cancelled because MS wanted it censored and the devs wouldn't bend the knee.

Despite being located in Japan and having Japanese people working for them, they employ a lot of westerners and only make games geared towards westerners. I wouldn't really consider them a game company for the Japanese market.

Hi-Fi Rush probably would've done better if it had a more authentic anime style too instead of a western faux anime style.

Sort of, but Capcom still occasionally makes stuff tailored to the Japanese market though.

MS just kind of proofed that original good games dont sell.
Sad state, but I think its time to just stop keeping up with modern games.
If even rich frick MS cant keep a passion dev in the air, no one can.

Time to stick to PS2 emulation and indies.

Except they do sell. It was just Microsofts fault it didn't. Since they shadow dropped it onto a platform people could pay $1 to access.
A vast majority of the million+ people who played Hi Fi Rush. Did so through gamepass when you could effectively rip off Microsoft for a dollar. The game was popular enough to get ported to playstation and switch.

          >And it didn't get any sales despite having months of advertising
Of course. Because for first two months the game was out it was effectively free. It's a single player game anon. People play it and beat it and move on. So people played it for effectively free then stopped. Didn't buy it when it changed systems except for a stark few snoys who were b***hing for it to be on their console forever.
Didn't help that this game was the reason Microsoft abolished the $1 gamepass deal.

Hifi Rush was already a niche game, and it was following in the steps of 2 AAA games that's bombed. It was never going to sell big, but I at least thought MS would keep the studio around for good PR. I guess the money saved is better than good PR.

It's documented to have a few million players and an pretty low budget. If it wasn't effectively given away for free it would have profited for Microsoft.

                >It's documented to have a few million players and an pretty low budget.
Yes, because people got it with their gamepass sub. If it wasn't on Gamepass, even fewer people would have played it. Bayonetta 3 is an established IP, on the Switch, had like 6 years of hype, and that probably sold less than 2m. This game had none of that and managed to get at least 3m players. The game was never meant to be a huge seller.

                Anonymous

Few people would have played it. But it would have made considerably more money and covered it's production costs at the very least.
Instead of making nothing even though it had a few million people playing it.

Well liked and profitable are not the same. Since it was released on 1$ gamepass with no advertisement. Most people played it for free so Microsoft got next to no money out of it. Even though it was quite popular.
Just the Austin studio. The one that made Redfall and Prey. But not dogshit dishonored dlc or deathloop.
Sad because Prey was pretty damn good and Redfall was shit because the studio wanted to scrap the damn thing multiple times over but Microsoft wouldn't let them.

While it's understandable it was a mistake to put it on gamepass, now that they got a cult following they' could've attempted to milk the cow with a new game first? Like HiFi generated enough buzz that people would keep an eye on their newest game. They just had to not repeat the same mistake with gamepass. I feel like they pulled the cord too soon on them. Although there would've been enough meddling to end up with terrible modern practices so maybe it's for the best.
