Whether it was Oak showing up for Shaymin and granting access to an entirely new area, or the Hall Of Origin being the most interesting unknown in early-years Diamond and Pearl, accessible only by the "Mystery Zone", or the Sinjoh Ruins where Cynthia shows up and we get to witness a literal creation god bringing life to a legendary. And now an "event" is, what? Here's 5 battles with literal whos and reused characters doing a moronic dance, in an area we've already seen everything in.
Make events meaningful again. Make them actually interesting.

Eh, this is just "here's a small map, a Sinnoh cameo, npcs lore dumping on you, and a free Sinnoh box legend, locked behind having your own Mythical from your Gamestop code". It's a bit different from the Pecharunt event, which was more about having your base game and DLC friends hang out than about dropping Deep Lore on you.
As opposed to this event which is NPCs lore dumping on you but with 50x the text and then 5 shitty boring mindless battles with no challenge

This one kickstarts with an item given through mystery gift, the legendary gets his own sidequest with a short plot thats all about showcasing its powers.
Its way more than these events used to be, only difference is you dont need to go to cross the country to go to sone store to get the item.
Old events were just

plus it's 2d vs 3d, 2d pixel shit is way faster to throw together an event yet they still made it lazier than this thing's event. Of all the things to complain about SV people pick this?
3D is actually easier to work with since you reuse many assets and it's more flexible.
animating full models is always going to be harder than making sprites, the hell you on? they had to make a unique animation for the moronic dance, which yes they got to reuse a few times but even Arven and Penny's moron dance are slightly different animations
as opposed to most 2d events which ALSO reuse assets up the ass with maybe one or two unique sprites that take maybe 10 minutes to bust out. The closest comparison was the unreleased Aceus event and the sinjoh ruins or whatever the frick they're called, and that also used reused assets and just random fricking images they took from elsewhere.
2d is harder Game Freak just makes it look lazier because of how lazy they are in general.

I don't see how you can have the opinion that this was a bad event. The event distributions before Gen 6 were honestly pretty lacking in how much you do. You literally show up to a place and then bam get yourself a special Pokemon. I liked them for at least having something in-game to do, but saying this isn't on the same level or higher of the good events is genuinely delusional.

As much of a dumpster fire as Gen 9 was, I feel like the mythical event was its only saving grace. A legitimate quest involved to get the Pokemon and even getting to fight and catch it yourself IS going back to the old ways. The last time a mythical had this level of effort put in was Victini in BW.

Instead of going to a tiny location with nothing but the Mythical in in, you got an entire map for the new Pokemon, along with four Legendaries, new outfits/hairstyles, and TWO exclusive questlines - one for the Legendaries and one specifically for the Mythical. What more do you want?

What's the problem exactly? I'm pretty sure this is the first actual mythical event where you actually do some event in the game since gen 5. Everything after has just been receiving the mythical and being done. The only ones with actual events since were remakes.

The Pecharunt story is objectively the largest and most interesting in-game mythical event release by far, and intentionally ties into the main and DLC story in minor ways while also serving as a send off for the characters.
