If your weapon requires you to manage a mini game while hunting the monster it's a garbage weapon and doesn't belong in MH.
If they didn't, morons like you would complain about how all the weapons feel the same.
weapons feel samey when you have over a dozen weapons that do a few things vs a few weapons that do a lot of things. charge blade/switch axe/insect glaive are just "we want the god eater audience" which is a game where you spend more time fighting your own weapon then the enemies but instead of being able to customize your attacks you just spam the same shit over and over
GS, SnS, Lance and Hammer play nothing alike.
cool, what happens when you try to have more than 4 weapons you moron
Hunting Horn is based
I also hate complicated weapons but it's one of my mains because it isn't complicated it's frick-easy and they still ruined it in Rise because people are just that stupid
hunting horn mains are typically the most insane motherfrickers you'll meet from my experience. the actual mains that are up in the monsters face 98% of the time, not the dumb cornerhorn c**ts that contribute nothing.
give it a try some time its easier than it looks. the insanely fast walk speed is something else
zinogre was the my favourite bully target, his head is perfectly placed for horns high swings, its divine.
is there a reason to attempt playing HH if you only ever hunt solo
old horns move set its the absolute peaks of monhun weapon design, the fast walk speed makes it pretty comfy to use. weapon aesthetics are also the peak
getting a couple free armour skills through buffs is a bonus
yeah, it's fun.
>you enjoyed playing the video game? what an idiot
I am one such person you would call an insane motherfricker. I cannot even fathom being a "cornerhorn," and I've been lucky enough never to encounter one in all my hunts.
man, you just charge the blade
hunting horn is unironically harder if your goal is to do anything but cornerhorn
>Can't cut
>Mediocre reach
>Has dumb maintenance buffs just like CB (not as bad as CB especially world CB, but still)
>Features incredibly jank moveset to differentiate it from Hammer including moves that require you to stop attacking and turn 180deg before swinging
>Moves are hard to even input namely pre-SB horn's four-direction input moves and the phantom inputs
>High-commitment attacks
>Damage is not good
>Low-tier defensive moveset
>weapon requires capcom to implement the Gun Sword from Lost Planet 2 as a new weapon class to use
keep it going you magnificent bastard
Hunting Horn is harder and it's not even close
or just use it as an overpowered sword and shield that will never bounce
Just watch a YouTube tutorial. Are you a dumb or something?
SnS expert here
Why not try a nice SnS?
triangle + triangle + triangle+circle
^ You spam this infinitely
R2 to shield attacks (very good, how do you even play without a shield?)
This is optimal SnS gameplay. It's basically Dark Souls and you can focus on the gameplay rather than bullshit Tekken combos.
if you arent shin shoryukening the shit out of monsters you are doing it wrong. i hope they at least keep that from rise.
The worst part about Charge Blade is how weak its shield component is. And you can't slot evade extenders either given other more crucial upgrades. So you are really vulnerable to getting fricked.
guard points are probably the single worst dedicated defensive mechanic in the entire game
Yes they're risky as frick for relatively little gain. That's absolutely the weakest aspect of Charge Blade. I played CB throughout most of World and Iceborne. I then switched to Lance and my kills were faster, with less carts and I was sweating nowhere as hard.
They were nerfed post 4/4U where the weapon was introduced
In 4U guard points were incredibly strong and the main point of the weapon
Chargeblade main here
Get good
The worst part about charge blade is it's not switch axe.
Yep.
>duh its complicated cuz it has the biggest movelist
you don't use 95% of it and have no reason to because that last 5% does everything. fricking dual blades is unironically more complicated to play efficently now that you cant just chug dash juice to become invincible because you have to actually pay attention to the monster sometimes to overcome poor range or moves that cant be dash canceled being your big hit
I hate how they changed dash juice mechanic with DB, stupid capcom. If they want to change it, it would've been from the start of 3rd gen.. or in the 1st gen when they introduced DB in G ps2. or in Frontier. Either an oversight for not realizing how it worked well with DB's shit or they just thought "frick it!".
what did they change about DB?
>DB demon mode dodge is extremely good because it not only costs a big chunk of stamina but requires you to be in a mode that constantly drains it
>there is an item called dash juice that makes it so you have effectively infinite stamina because all your moves that would lower it now don't
>and there's a mega version that lasted 5 minutes
so db users (and a few other weapons like bow) just got to have all of the perks with none of the weaknesses as long as they drank this item every 5 minutes, and because db is a weapon a lot of babies use they got mad that in world even though DB got a ton of buffs they also changed how dash juice works so it's just a reduction in how much stamina stuff does, even though they also made it way easier to get a bunch of stamina skills on your gear without costing damage in world so it actually does the exact same shit you just have to put in a bit more work instead of chugging an item and being invincible because you can demon dash forever
for me, it's adept CB
>Put the monster juice into the shield to make the boom booms go
Real complex weapon you've got there. Most people I see play it like a fricking caveman.
What weapon should I try if I only ever played LS (tried db and sns but they're both ass and insect glaive looks gay and I won't play HH cause i play solo and don't get me started with the meme of it being good solo so no need to recommend those)
You seem moronic, go with GS.
SA
I agree with this one. SA needs about the same amount of braincells to be effective.
t. SA main
Biggest LSgay I know is too dumb to figure out SA. And not for lack of trying. I call it a win for grugs everywhere.
>glaive looks gay
says the disgusting LS. Glaive is based because you don't care about muh dmg you just dodge everything with no effort and dive cut the monsters tail
Stick with LS. It's perfect for whiny gays like you.
>weapon requires high school degree to use
coming from rise how do you play savage axe in world? i'm so used to being carried with ready stance that not having it in world fricked me over.
fatalis now fricks me and apparently savage is needed for him.
Guard points.
The axe morph slash GP (aka the roundslash GP) is the most utilitarian defense option if you're actually in the middle of USING the axe. And since savage axe drains your phials in real time, this also gives you a chance to top them up before you do a morph-to-axe (with option to GP as well, for added safety) to transform back.
Your other option is to route through an Amped Elemental Discharge and use Savage Axe Slash again, so that's a lot of risk of resource waste if anything goes wrong.
Unironically, the placement of guard points incentivizes switching back and forth better than any of the weapon's actual gimmicks.
Yeah I did notice that when I started playing Savage CB "right" i was getting more random unintended guardpoints just because i was utilizing the switchups more during combos.
Doing a combo wherein your guard points line up with attacks as they come in is fricking heavenly.
figured it'd be guard points...i just stacked evade window and rolled everywhere
the saed guard point is fricking epic too pull off but yeah too risky. wish that shit was in rise, it's too cool and good.
>spoiler
With how many skills the weapon borderline requires (Artillery, Capacity Boost, Focus/Power Prolonger) that must've been tough on your slots, but I can see it working. good luck figuring out the timing.
>wish that shit was in rise, it's too cool and good.
rise's changes to the chargeblade are baffling overall, it's not like it was overwhelmingly broken or anything in world
>that must've been tough on your slots, but I can see it working.
i made a talisman otherwise and just made the armor set have everything else.
got carried by some players and managed to get 4 fatalis pieces but i'm still stuck with lightbreak cb and yeah. it's the "inbetween" build if you will.
I wanna do fatalis solo but he's too much of a b***h to do it and he one shots you easily.
I got proficient with every weapon in the game. have killed everything multiple times with every weapon type. Charge blade is fun. sorry for your room temp iq.
calling another guy dumb when you spent 4 years grinding mats
>https://mhchargeblade.net/mhw/guide/
>I have this tab open so I can look shit up and keep learning
>weapon requires masters degree to use
>despite this, weapons playerbase has the lowest average IQ
>weapons playerbase has the lowest average IQ
that would be longsword
yeah probably but you dont notice is much from LSgays because of how hard the weapon carries
Charge Blade is the quintessential "I want to feel smart without actually being smart" weapon. There's nothing remotely hard about using it yet morons will continously say how overwhelming it is. Really fun though
The morons who say that are the ones that don't use it, hence this thread
honestly I feel like switch axe is a more complicated weapon.
hunting horn if you're a true chad.
this has literally always been the greatsword lmao
>despite this, weapons playerbase has the lowest average IQ
he posted charge blade, not longsword.
that's greatsword
no weapon is hard
the series was never hard
the fact people got filtered by pre-world games is fricking astounding
I really enjoyed when Demon's Souls came out and everyone was all like, "this is the hardest game ever!" and when I finally played it at a friend's house, it was just easier Monster Hunter.
Believe it or not, there's actually a correct weapon choice. And it's hammer.
If hammer could cut tails, I'd play nothing else. I only play solo 🙁
I played literally nothing but hammer for ~1200 hours in mhp2ndg
truly the most based weapon type.
I use IG primarily now
requires masters degree to use
the only people that think CB is difficult are people that never spent more than 10min to learn it and people who play it badly and think that they are an elite gamer for using it.
the hardest thing about CB, if you are not a CB main, is your mindset that you don't have to dodge attacks and can just GP them.
i really wish that axe mode didn't exist and that the CB was more focused on doing some interesting things with the shield spike and close range phial explosions, something like sticking ticking time bombs in mons or having a shield sword explosion unsheath attack like sam in MGRR
holy frick are you me? id rather it was a stake/pile driver to be honest, steal that shit from gunlance
you can take the stakes for Wilds if I get to keep my blast dash
the shield spike attack could've been so much cooler than it is and even that little strike is to me more satisfying than both of the ele discharges
>drop the axe
>have the shield use the phials for spinning saw attacks, spike thrusts, close range phial shotgun blasts, stick your sword in the shield and use phial explosions for unsheath discharge attack etc.
this would've given it more of an identity than just being an SnS SA hybrid
CB doesn't really work like SA very much at all and I hate hearing this gay homosexual take
Aside from that yeah an alternative playstyle like that would be cool, I always thought a way they could expand on styles/switch skills and giving more gameplay options is just straight up giving the weapons an alternative fighting style, instead of bloating the roster with more weapon types
what i meant with the SA comment is how the axe in SA is similar to the axe in CB, looking at the moveset and general feel of it. same with the sword mode being similar to SnS
everything about the CB feels like a hybrid mix of mechanics that didn't make it into other weapons final moveset during their designe, at least the IG has an identity of its own
i agree, i wish there was no axe mode. i just like my big shields
I'm a freedom boomer and I still refuse to recognize Swaxe, cblade, or glaive as real weapons.
I'm a 4Ubab and you're lucky your lesser weapons are tolerated
charge blade was literally only fun in 4U, as soon as they overcomplicated/nerfed it I couldn't touch it in XX, world, or rise.
>armor requires a masters degree to use
>watching Charge Blade speedrun
>only SAED is the literal last hit of the hunt
just do the funny electric stun smash, bro
>HH
>hard
The absolute state of Ganker
Hunting Horn was "hard" before Rise if you were playing solo, but that's only because the entire weapon is balanced around buffing a group of hunter
You end up taking longer to kill/capture monsters which leaves more opportunity for you to fail a hunter
It can be pretty difficult if the monster is spazzy enough to never give you a good window to do a recital mid-fight
CB in rise is the first since 4u where I don't feel gimped using it
>Faster recovery across the board, esp for the Axe AED II attack
>Morphing advance beening one of the legitimately best additions to the weapon, giving it much needed movement just for positioning
>CPP allowing CB to not 100% rely on guardpoints which are still weaker than 4u's
>CSS being on the charge phials followup means it's very viable to use it for quick Axe moves while using UAED for big openings
Switch skills are obviously not perfectly balanced but I'm not going to be a moron and ignore how much they honestly help CB not fall off with how sluggish it can feel versus the more modern faster monsters
I also like firing pin being a legitimate reason to bother charging your sword and attack in sns mode besides building phials, that should really become a standard for the weapon
CB in rise felt way worse then it did in World, the SAEDs feel like wet farts with smaller hitboxes.
I'm guessing you only played base Rise? SAED hitbox was fixed in Sunbreak. In general Sunbreak made the weapon way more fun
What if I use bowgun?
I always thought guns were gay till I tried them. I love the feeling of carrying an entire fricking siege engine to battle. Making flying monsters less shit is fine too.
CB is really easy to use once you get the basics down, it has a very simple gameplan.
>glaive looks gay
it has to be one of the most comfy weapons in nu monhuns
I want tonfa 🙁
It's just powercrept DB
What if they tone it down and make it identical to db except it can stud instead of cut tails? I just like Nioh.
At that point they should just make individual weapons cutting or blunt and the weapons class just dictates controls. That way Hammergays don't need to switch to their secondarys to get tails. And snsboys could be on concussion duty.
What's a good weapon for a beginner? Looking for something that's easy to pick up and has good survivability.
SnS is peak beginner weapon, also depending on the game it can be a powerhouse
but generally no other weapon can make you feel as safe as the SnS when going against monsters you never fought
Classic CB was so fun.
Gonna teach you guys da secret SA move.
Wild Swing -> Morph Sweep
You've done it. The monster is probably staggered and everything else around you IS dead. Enjoy your staggered monster and your weapon now in sword mode (it rarely is deflected and uses phials).
>Another YOUR WEAPON SUCKS, MY WEAPON GOOD monster hunter thread
Imagine the world where people would just play the weapon they like and not critic other weapons. Impossible.
I want a fist or knuckle weapon so I can beat monsters down like a martial artist.
Look for dual blades that look like claws like the gore ones and settle for that. There's also the seltas drill ones.
No. I will not settle. I'm not gonna be as adamant as Mr Lost Planet Gun Sword but Knuckles or another Fist Type weapons with Punches, Kicks, and like, bullshit Karate moves. Exploding punches and shit.
Switch axe.
They call it the switch axe because you switch back after trying it.
>play GU
>get told that 20 element resistance prevents blight
>eat to get 20 dragon resistance
>deviljho and valstrax still gives me dragonblight and fricks my damage
What gives? Was I lied to?
