One time both the Black Knight Sword and Greatsword dropped from the ones in Undead Burg. Using one then moving on the other was fricking great. Never happened again.
How did this weapon even get the notoriety? I get why it'd be on a guide for just finding a secret or whatever, but why would guides tell you to use THIS instead of the claymore next to it?
I found it without a guide, I was just trying to cheese the dragon because I wondered how many souls it dropped, shot its tail with a bow abunch from below the bridge and got a sword, was kinda mad because I couldnt fully kill it with a bow anymore.
Let's be honest here. No one gets this on their first encounter with the bridge dragon unless they were looking up a guide. Maybe a few shitters who want to spend 15 minutes cheesing the dragon do, but generally no one knows about this going in blind.
Every gaming news site and forum as well as YouTube were plastered with videos and articles about the "CRAZY OVERPOWERED SECRET WEAPON IN UNDEAD BURG" back in 2011 literally a day after the game came out, including this board actually
That weapon really was just a gigantic shining symbol of "I don't know what I'm doing"
>not as good as the zweihander or half the other weapons before or after it, get mogged by even the lightning spear in sens fortress and it takes dragon shit to upgrade >black knight halberd SHITS on it and is in the OP, can just drop from a knight randomly >any elemental damage upgrade or chaos weapon will shit on it absolutely, the embers for which are pretty simple to get
Whether you rush upgrades with a detailed guide or not the drake sword drops off incredibly fast compared to a normal weapon, it was literally a reddit meme
I used the Battle Axe the moment it dropped from the first undead before the sewer walkway leading into the Perish, and I never used anything else
except the BKS+5 on a lvl 25 to twoshot the capra demon as a summon for casuals
Actual dozens, maybe a hundred at most
Most would run to the stairs and shield the whole time while dogs chomped on them, but two swings one the capra as soon as I came in would end the fight
I went into Bloodborne knowing nothing about the game and I just spinned to win my way through the first half of the game
I did not learn that the guns were for parrying until I fought one of the hunters after the Shadows of Yarnham
This is why everyone hates soulsgays >hurr durr this weapon trivializes the game hurr durr >it only has 2 attack animations >they think this is the epitome of RPG combat
lmao imagine getting dunked on by Mount and Blade combat hahahah
>The new AI makes them almost as cracked as the Capra Demon fight
Capra demon is an infamous fight because it jumps you. If you go into it with a few more levels it's a complete joke, and if you go into it knowing how it works it's also a complete joke.
"Capra demon is hard" is a meme because it's a noob trap that will one-shot you if you don't know what it's all about.
>hurr durr if I know the fight and overlevel then its not that hard >git gud
this is also why everyone hates soulsgays
It's literally nothing to do with the boss itself, it's because the boss arena is miniscule and the dogs blindside you upon entering, if you survive the first 10 seconds your chance of survival skyrockets.
>dexgays need to pray to be blessed by rng
Not really, if you're a real dexgay you just roll down to the catacombs and get the meme scythe, real dexgays don't get hit.
>kill the guy who sells this weapon for the katana, or just walk for 3 minutes and get the estoc, or walk for 5 minutes and then have a nice day to great the great scythe
the only dex weapon that isn't stupid easy to get is the falchion but thats just getting the master key and walking for like 6 minutes
they start with the scimitar even though you find the falchion next to the wanderer set. its literally the exact same weapon but slightly smaller in all ways so its pretty close but falchion is objectively better unless literally 1 extra point of weight is somehow going to ruin you
>the only dex weapon that isn't stupid easy
Black person I spend like one hour each playthrough farming the Baldur Side Sword
BSS is a cope weapon for people who think using a katana ruins the visual asthetic of dark souls even though you just hit people with the damn thing instead of doing any anime samurai shit and there are western swords that look similar like the kriegmesser
It's an aesthetic issue but I'd prefer it if the BSS actually looked like a sidesword, really all they had do to was use the same basic model as the rapier.
Don't really know about 2 or can't quite remember but it was a beast in 1 (as you could one hit hunters with it (then again it was easier to melee them from behind)).
It was brutal in MP.
As for Bioshock, this was pretty much all you needed and it is given to you at the start
Dead Cells has a few weapons like this. Nutcracker is one of the weapons unlocked from the start and it remains one of the best survival weapons. Some of the crossover weapons are incredibly good, and you're guaranteed to get one of them in the starting zone until they're all unlocked, and they don't require cells to unlock, you just have to find them, so things like Starfury and Pure Nail.
I think there's some other guaranteed drops from enemies and bosses that are good, but can't remember them off the top of my head.
>tfw both black knight sword and black night halberd dropped for me from the burg and basin knights respectively on my first playthrough
I went in totally blind and had no idea what I was doing so thank god they did.
Yes, but its nowhere near as good as a unique base weapon until you upgrade it to +10 minimum. You'd need to Capra skip (or fight Capra like a goon) and find somewhere to buy up the LTS (or farm them, like a goon).
>Yes, but its nowhere near as good as a unique base weapon until you upgrade it to +10 minimum.
Bullshit. The weapon has such high base damage that even at +0 you can comfortably explore the catacombs and even upper new londo if you have real balls. At +5, it will cut through the gargoyles like they're made of fricking toilet paper, and let you trivialize quelaag without even needing ascend it to tier 2. It can stagger or pancake anything less tanky thank a black knight (including snake men, silver knights, gargoyles, crystal golems, even fricking skeleton dogs), and it scales really well, if you feel like doing EVEN MORE damage than the lightning or fire versions, which hit like freight train for extremely little stat investment. If it weren't for the sheer power and speed of the black knight halberd, the zwei would not only be the best crutch weapon in dark souls 1, but probably the best in the entire FRANCHISE, due to how fricking hard it carries from the moment you pick it up through the end of the game.
You must be getting confused with pvp damage ratings or something, zwei is insane either +5 or with fire/chaos/magic/lightning/divine or whatever you put on it the thing is crazy good in PVE
Yes, you just do a suicide run into the graveyard, although you do need to know where to look, unless you're really lucky you're not going to pick it up blind.
Yeah but you can't use it for a long time unless you only level strength and even then its still not good till you upgrade it enough so its not really all that great until the later half of the game anyway.
It's 10 dex and 16 strength. The bandit can equip it using the souls he gets from the asylum demon. Anyone else can easily meet those stat requirements by the time they're through upper undead burg (or using consumable soul items gathered on the valley of the drakes/darkroot garden path if you took the thief key). Even at minimum stats and +0, the weapon shits out damage, and at +5, it trivializes anything up to sen's. It scales great if you want to keep it pure, or has incredibly strong elemental infusions. It has huge range, frick loads of poise damage, on demand hard knockdowns of most enemies with the R2, and it's not even all that slow, especially considering if you're hitting anything smaller than a bus, you're going to flinch it (and in dark souls 1, that means stun locking it as long as you have stamina)
Gutsword in Elden Ring. Just get Torrent, head to Caelid, loot the chest down the road and you have a weapon that can wreck any gay in Limgrave unupgraded. Also, getting Lion's Claw will get the better skill you can have for it
i had a good time with a partizan. you get it in undead village. it's a bit short for a spear but has nice moveset and got me through pve with no trouble.
>the weapons are balanced enough where almost every weapon is usable. Some might be better than the starting weapon, but it's still decent in its own right and carrying your game
Good design >the starting weapon is literally better than anything else, to the extent nobody bothers with the other weapons other than as a vague curiousity. Why did they even put them in?
Bad design.
how many five minute resets did you need for it to finally drop?
Dude just be lucky, easy. Imagine being a lucklet, couldn't be me.
One time both the Black Knight Sword and Greatsword dropped from the ones in Undead Burg. Using one then moving on the other was fricking great. Never happened again.
Found it by accident in my first playthrough, it was pretty wild.
>weapon you can find 1 hour into the game will completely ruin your experience
It stops pulling its weight pretty early on so people who keep using it past its usefulness are actually hurting themselves in the long run.
You got my point, congratulations
How did this weapon even get the notoriety? I get why it'd be on a guide for just finding a secret or whatever, but why would guides tell you to use THIS instead of the claymore next to it?

most noobs dont really know how to upgrade their weapons and drake sword is stronger than the usual unupgraded weapon
thats literally it
Let's be honest here. No one gets this on their first encounter with the bridge dragon unless they were looking up a guide. Maybe a few shitters who want to spend 15 minutes cheesing the dragon do, but generally no one knows about this going in blind.

phenomenal weapon for burg/parish but please drop it for a bk weapon after that

Frick the claymore flags
All my homies hate the claymore gays
the ZH is where the "you didn't beat the game" meme comes from
>5 minutes in
my brother in christ not even the WR speedrun could get a black knight halberd in 5 minutes
BKS is so fricking sweet but I can also settle for the battle axe until I find something sweeter like a man-serpent greatsword
claymore is literally the number 1 redditgay weapon
I used the Battle Axe the moment it dropped from the first undead before the sewer walkway leading into the Perish, and I never used anything else
except the BKS+5 on a lvl 25 to twoshot the capra demon as a summon for casuals
>summoning on Capra
The fight's already decided by the time the summon walks through the gate, how many people did you actually manage to help?
Actual dozens, maybe a hundred at most
Most would run to the stairs and shield the whole time while dogs chomped on them, but two swings one the capra as soon as I came in would end the fight
So who else played Dark Souls 1 for the first time and went straight to the Catacombs first because...
>Frick it guess I'll go this way
That's nothing, I actually made it down to the bonfire in the catacombs.
And got stuck and decided it was easier to restart than escape.
Literal starting weapon that you can run through the game ez with.
Hunter’s axe is even better and cheesier with the charged R2 transformed.
I went into Bloodborne knowing nothing about the game and I just spinned to win my way through the first half of the game
I did not learn that the guns were for parrying until I fought one of the hunters after the Shadows of Yarnham
threaded cane is the only starting weapon that you need a good amount of skill to use
Saw cleaver makes my dicks so hard
>can't even use it without leveling up like 10 times
lmao
This is why everyone hates soulsgays
>hurr durr this weapon trivializes the game hurr durr
>it only has 2 attack animations

lmao imagine getting dunked on by Mount and Blade combat hahahah
I love M&B but no M&B game has been as challenging as the FROM roster.
The two fill completely different rosters.
have you tried the newest patch Bannerlord tournaments? The new AI makes them almost as cracked as the Capra Demon fight
>The new AI makes them almost as cracked as the Capra Demon fight

I thought it was funny how they referenced this fight in Elden Ring at the albinauric village
>dexgays need to pray to be blessed by rng
>strgods can just buy the best weapon in the game from the first merchant

the default Knight straight sword in DS3 could easily take you through the entire game

Isn't the Zweihander like thirty seconds away from the camp?
Yes, but its nowhere near as good as a unique base weapon until you upgrade it to +10 minimum. You'd need to Capra skip (or fight Capra like a goon) and find somewhere to buy up the LTS (or farm them, like a goon).

even if zwei doesn't have the raw stats of other picks it has big range and stunlocks 9/10 enemy types in the game

Halo Pistol
Plasma Cutter
Hades starter weapon easy
Technically true, but the zag sword sucks. One of the worst weapons in the game.
For me, it's the Great Scythe
Gutsword in Elden Ring. Just get Torrent, head to Caelid, loot the chest down the road and you have a weapon that can wreck any gay in Limgrave unupgraded. Also, getting Lion's Claw will get the better skill you can have for it
i had a good time with a partizan. you get it in undead village. it's a bit short for a spear but has nice moveset and got me through pve with no trouble.
Alright everyone, make room for the CORRECT answer.
>using the ladle
You probably play spin the ladle on hanukkah don't you, israelite
is this better or worse than bare fists with no vanquisher's seal
Its better than most weapons period.
I'm a casual, and this is my favorite weapon. I just think it's neat.
I went dual caestus the second time I played DS1.
Felt like I was Iron Tarkus levels of badass as I got gud.
In Elden Ring.
Uchigatana or farm the Dismounter.
