Anon, you may have Downs. And by "may" I mean you do have it. Because you're a fricking moron.

Nostalgia is a hell of a disease. The OG was mediocre, all it had going for was Wonka (who is nothing like the book) and the Imagination song. Everything else is a step down from the Tim Burton movie.
I will say I liked the songs in Tim Burton's movie, but I much preferred the more whimsical nature of the OG.
I feel like as well the mid 2000s CG hampered a lot of the experience of Burton's as well as the set pieces being too sterile. From what I remember, it was shot pretty well so there's that too.
If it were made now, I think I would enjoy it a lot more, but as it is, I can't stand looking at it, which is a shame because I really do like Burton's films.
The OG does feel more whimsical even when in retrospect looks very cheap.

Said that, the new Wonka movie did the best oompa loompa and is overall a better movie than the two predecessors. But the songs are the weakest point of the movie.
Having physical sets instead of an endless series of gigantic, looming cgi demo screens gives a pretty major edge to the original. Also the "different genre for each song" thing didn't land.
>also the "different genre for each song" thing didn't land.
It did, it has the best songs from all the three movies. You know what doesn't land? Have the Oompa loompas sing the same shitty song 4 times in a movie.

was that supposed to be a gotcha because I posted a meme?
Burton's captures the book far better (which is the only reason the Dahl estate even allowed him to make it in the first place), but far more people only ever experienced the original movie, so of course their nostalgia for that outweighs anything else. I don't particularly hate the Gene Wilder version, but he came across like an butthole adult instead of the whimsical, porcelain doll like man who never really grew up from the book. I'll also never understand why they omitted that Grandpa Joe used to work at the factory.

Which pisses me off because people keep shitting on Burton's movie just because isn't like the flop they grew up with, the OG didn't even do well in theaters or critically, Dahl dishonored the movie, he hated Gene's Wonka and vowed to never adapt his works again.
it survived because of TV reruns.
The first one was great though.
And the cartoon was surprisingly better than any of the sequels, though mainly because it actually respected the first movie (For one the veternatian was one of the main characters) while also doing it's own things.

came here to post this. I believe even a few of the songs are word for word from the book. still, it's funny how the book so succinctly describes Wonka and not a single adaptation can get him right.
>it's funny how the book so succinctly describes Wonka and not a single adaptation can get him right.
The Burton film is extremely faithful to the source material and it's shit because the source material is shit.

The book version was an butthole and Dahl specifically said he didn't like Wilder's performance because he made Wonka seem more like a parental figure.
No. The old filming on live sets like Wonka or Wizard of Oz gives the films a nature that cannot be recreated today. Frick cgi. Also og twilight zone is better than any sci fi movie released since like fricking Alien.

Everything about the sets of the OG is cheap.

Dahl wrote the Great Glass Elevator and it was awful so I really wouldn't worry too much about respecting his "vision" for the story or characters.
The original was turned into a glorified candy commercial. Dahl basically had no control over the film and ended up disowning it. It flopped in theaters but gained a following through tv re-runs. Burton hated the of film and got a bunch of people who hated it too and made their own faithful film with hookers and blackjack and the backing of the Dahl estate.
The Wonka candy line was the bottom of the barrel gimmicky candies to kids. The brand died out a decade ago due to lack of interest and the few successful candies like Nerds got rebranded

there's something funny and a little scary about a bunch of people having to follow orders from a schizo ai script
not a single actor questioned any of this until it was too late?
By the time they were getting into it it was already too late. They didn’t show up until the day before to see everything and rehearse. By then they knew it was going to be a shitshow and they wouldn’t get paid, but since there were children coming they should at least do the best they could for their sake.

The director behind can't do wrong, he has a midas touch.
Watch the Paddington movies if you can, it's way better than the Wonka movie.
sally hawkins sexo
How can someone with no israeli blood look so fricking israeli
It happens.
True.
italians and anglos
The 1971 movie has a better Willy Wonka.
The 2005 movie has better everything else.
Yeah man that dentist daddy subplot sure was fulfilling…
Wait, what?
There is ANOTHER Willy Wonka reboot?
And it has the bad version of Paul Atreides as the titular Mr Wonka?
What the frick?
There was never a "Willy Wonka reboot", moron.
The three movies are based on a book from 1964.
Well then a re-adaptation, you Black personious pedantic c**t, whatever.
There is nothing pedantic about it, you moronic Black person. It's akin to saying Peter Jackson's trilogy is a remake of this rotoscoped mess.
Words have meaning, like (You) = huge homosexual.
>There is nothing pedantic about it, you moronic Black person. It's akin to saying Peter Jackson's trilogy is a remake of this rotoscoped mess.
>Words have meaning, like (You) = huge homosexual.
>this rotoscoped mess
I liked it though.
It has a different tone and feel to the Jackson trilogy, they shouldn't really be compared.
I really like how Smaug looked in the Rankin-Bass hobbit films. Fat cat dragon. Dragons should always have beards.
Can anyone tell me how many film adaptations there are for Dune? There's the bad one (2021), the old one (forgot the director), and some kind mini-series I think? Does anyone remember the director of the mini-series?
>Its been long enough since Burton's shit Wonka adaptation that revisionists are now trying to convince people its better than the original
Time can stop flowing now, thank you.
>0 arguments
Nostalgia.
You mean the only reason you prefer that ugly travesty?
>nothing again
I made my point
yes, your point is shit
your momma is shit.
G4YN4
How does it respect the source material?
no one cares about respecting the source material 1:1 adaptations are generally awful
>adds a Black person to your medieval fantasy
:^)
>you will NOT eat from the chocolate river
Why does Wonka and the chocolate factory keep getting movies, where's the Wizard of Oz remakes
It's the favorite of rich pedophiles.
The 1971 movie has a better Willy Wonka.
The 2005 movie has better girls.
Would.
Same.
Job may have sucked, but good on her for still trying for the kids.
>the back wall
my God, it's even worse than a meth lab. it's a MATH LAB
>If only you knew how bad things were
>heckdrivers
How underage is the person who made this?
I'm a demilich.
>Babylons fall
Good image, I had a laugh.
Neither Wilder or Depp felt like the book version. Fact.
>tfw cambrian gamer
These were fricking great and I was genuinely disappointed when I found out that they were discontinued.
Can you believe we were deprived of Wonka Jackson kino?
they look like they run a "free candy" van
Shouldn’t this be more like
New school
>palworld

Old school

>deep rock galactic
>the last of us 2
>sea of thieves
Ancient

I'm The Unknown.
Don't play games
Actually I hate games.
I just enjoy video game pornography.
why is TotK in New School when its older than half the shit in Old School?
When the frick did they remake will wonka for a second time. Gene Wilde is the Goat and I do remember dep playing the character like 20 years ago. But another remake? Hollywood really is worse than games with remakes.
I still play video games from 20 years ago or older.
Where's Heroes 3?
Ban all phone posters
This meme format is still making me laugh after all these years
there's something funny and a little scary about a bunch of people having to follow orders from a schizo ai script
not a single actor questioned any of this until it was too late?
By the time they were getting into it it was already too late. They didn’t show up until the day before to see everything and rehearse. By then they knew it was going to be a shitshow and they wouldn’t get paid, but since there were children coming they should at least do the best they could for their sake.
small time actors, they just want to pay the rent
Reminder that he still got away with it.
>entire event cost ~$5k total to set up
>got away without having to pay the actors
>2k kids showed up, which means if 20% of event goers don't demand a refund the guy still gets $14k in revenue
And now it's too late for an angry mob to lynch him and get away with it.
I strictly play SuperTuxKart and CSS Jailbreak servers. What am I?
