>Neo Geo
It had many great games and few duds, but being an arcade repackaged as a console limited its library to the genres you find in arcades. No RPG, no strategy, no adventure.
None of them. Shovelware is a constant and a console should be judged not by its abundance or shortage of shovelware, but by the greatness that slips through instead.
I got a N64 in 1996. By 1997 I regretted not asking for a playstation instead. In 2023, I regret it even more. N64's 10 great games weren't worth missing out on playstation.
Obviously, the SNES was a more developed system for what was already the NES. The 64 jumpstarted 3D gaming but it wasn't perfect.
I love 64 and it's games but SNES was definitely better
People forget that back then kids didn't have many games, and considering that nearly all games were good on the N64 even having just 15 N64 games were huge. And the chances of having a good N64 game was a lot higher than a good ps1 game
Yeah. SNES was peak 2d gaming. N64 games have aged terribly in comparison, save for f-zero X and waverace 64.
I think saturn is a better console than the megadrive though.
Emulation is more popular and accessible than ever. The games speak for themselves, you don't need first-hand experience with the console to know if it was good or not, unless its controls can't easily be mapped to whatever controller you're using.
N64 has like 5 games that nintendo fans dickride for the rest of eternity and all of them are first parties
Ogre Battle 64 exists, so you are wrong.
That's because N64 barely had any games compared to SNES or PS1, but the top 5 selling games it did have had like a 30% attach rate.
Mischief Makers was not first party.
N64 is a nogames machine
I don't think that's a controversial opinion.
true when i finally got my N64 i just played the 2 zelda games and moved on to playstation cause it had final fantasy on it
thats the most room-temp take imaginable, only people who literally were 6 when they N64 came out think its better
N64 was only for multiplayer and mario 64
wooooah such an unpopular opinion you might get executed in public for that
the most tepid take i've ever seen
>pic
am I going insane or there was an episode where krabappel gave bart the bedroom eyes or some shit like that?
you should lay off that palcomix
>palcomix
>Palcomix
Ah another old man like myself.
>palcomix
you may be confusing it with the one where Bart posed as a gentleman writing her romantic letter as a prank
You tell me.
Ms. Krabappel is pump a dump territory.
Krabappel? I've been calling her Crandall!
>Simpsons Persona game
>be Bartman in Palace
>Herman Hermann weapon shop
>Krabappel romance option
imagine
It is. Damn shame you wouldn't know it from NSO and their damn shovelware, but it's true.
I can't argue with the truth. The SNES is the best console of all times. It has everything.
This, the SNES and Genesis era was peak gaming only matched by the PS2/GC/Xbox era.
I don't care also you're gay
Which system had the greater concentration of good games, though?
ps1
Meh, the list of good games exclusive to PS1 is Bushido Blade 1 and Bushido Blade 2. Early textured 3D era was kind of shit across the board.
Patrician taste, Bushido Blade 1 and 2 are true classics.
Neo Geo

you want a beating right?
didn't specify what gen i am the winner
None of them. Shovelware is a constant and a console should be judged not by its abundance or shortage of shovelware, but by the greatness that slips through instead.
Shovelware just means the console was popular.
Consoles with the most shovelware were the ps2/wii/etc
The SNES.
PS3
0/0 = infinity
>0/0 = infinity
DS line is fricking nothing but good games. Seriousely, DS is fricking peak gaming.
Saturn. The gem to coal ratio of its library is absurdly high.
Only someone of a very specific age would argue with this point.
Not a controversial opinion
Mario started to suck as soon at it went 3d.
I'm pretty sure that was already the evaluation back then
TRUE
N64 excelled at collectathons and party games and literally nothing else. Playstation just picked up where the genesis and snes left off.
>he thinks N64 BAD threads are a unique topic on Ganker
On average? Probably. Though N64's pinnacle (OoT) is better than anything on SNES. Yes, even LttP.
have a nice day troony LttP was the peak
Nope, it's ugly as shit and progression is annoying thanks to the dark world... thought it has a handful of neat secrets.
>ugly as shit
Are you blind, or is your homosexualry blinding you?
Octopus trees, 8-ball rocks, pink Link, its art is just really unappealing and weird.
Link to the Past is the best Zelda game in the franchise.
Link to the Past's sword play and dungeons sucked. The gameboy games were way better.
Finally, someone talking sense. GB Zeldas are great.
the Oracle's are the pinnacle and they weren't even really made by Nintendo
Mega Man X is better than LttP and OOT
I might actually agree with that.
64/Cube fricking sucked and I'm tired of Nintendo youtubers and scrimblo tendies dickriding those gens
Agreed
I love the N64 but I agree with this, SNES is just too good.
I got a N64 in 1996. By 1997 I regretted not asking for a playstation instead. In 2023, I regret it even more. N64's 10 great games weren't worth missing out on playstation.
Basic b***h gen x take.
I'd rather play sm64 or out than any snes game
As a Millennial I disagree with you sir.
Who the frick would even argue this? The SNES is peak Nintendo.
Well, yes.
How is this controversial? SNES was a God tier console only surpassed by the Xbox One.
I never played either. They were before my time.
Well?
Learn English moron.

Nah
wow....what a controversial take.
I'm sure some 45 year old anon reading this got so offended they almost forgot about their backpain
The N64 had a really weak Library. The Saturn of all consoles had more games total and more good games total
People forget that back then kids didn't have many games, and considering that nearly all games were good on the N64 even having just 15 N64 games were huge. And the chances of having a good N64 game was a lot higher than a good ps1 game
I think the only major console with a smaller library than the N64 is the WiiU. Maybe not even that if you leave in the eShop shovelware.
Wii U has more. Here's what the first couple Google results say.

That's not what the shirt originally said.
Thems fighten words, son.
>he didn't pick, married, and raise a good family with an ACTUAL Japanese Krabappel
WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?
>Ganker throwing a temper tanty about the N64
>in multiple threads no less
must be a day ending in "y".
Yeah. SNES was peak 2d gaming. N64 games have aged terribly in comparison, save for f-zero X and waverace 64.

>Poor man's opinion
N64 could play NES, Gameboy and Super NES without emulation.
Only thing that rivaled the snes by being a banger console is the PS2
True
He's so cute, haha
