1: Tails and Eggman are the only two inventors in the world.
The devs were going to have various quests where Tails helped various other inventors and scientists, SEGA told them to cut it.
2: Sonic's world does not use currency in any form. Rings cannot be used as currency. Do not even hint at or mention currency in any way.
Again, was sprung on them out of nowhere and you'll note is in direct contradiction to previous and future games.
