Well, Last Train Home and War Hospital were disappointment, but I still hoping for at least half decent WWI game. Here's the next one:

German govt-funded jank game but looks like they're trying something different at least, mite b cool
VNs are not strategy
TrooNOsistters... How do we cope...
ahem
>troony
>Black person
>ORGY
>not TrooNOutsister
Cmon anon, you know you can do better than that...
you are not welcome in the KoDP and Suzerain threads and you are not welcome here
I hide those, because they are not strategy.
I support this if only because it means that paratrannies have to go back to /gsg/
Gaymers pre-2018: WWI is too booooring no you cannot make a gayme about it.
Gaymers now: Let's play our fifth WWI tactical rpg for the year.
8 years after BF1, which was supposed to be a breath of fresh air, Verdun still remains the best WW1 game. And this doesn't mean that Verdun is good.
>Verdun still remains the best WW1 game
Nope, that would be Battlefield 1.
oh no i'm not playing an alleged ww1 game where literally everyone is running full-auto experimental guns
>he doesn't mind though that every Entente power fights in the same trench
Realismgays...
that really is the least of the crimes, because the general feel of ww1 is not disturbed and otherwise queue times would be incredibly fricked if you had a separate one for each nation
>general feel of ww1
Oh what a wonderful feel of ww1 when soldier suffers from asthma after a second running and can't even throw a grenade farther than a meter.
You can use the nades as fricking mortars on that game, what are you talking about? Just look at the map and aim up lol. There's no friendly fire either, which makes classes with multiple grenades really good.
As opposed to verdud, where every soldier is “realistically” equipped with a semi-automatic handgun that you can snipe with
Zoomers are a riot
>Zoomers are a riot
What does he even meant by that comment?
BF1 is the best WW1 game and it's not close.
Honestly if you wanted a real ww1 gayim, you should just play post-ICO squad with mods enabled, then that garbage supression mechanic might actually have a useful purpose.
>Valiant Hearts came out in 2014
Frick gaymers, and frick their stupid fricking opinions.
Looks like yet another game where all the soldiers are sad little shits who whine 24/7. And it's German to boot so you just know it'll be filled with stupid shit like fursuits that protect from gas attacks.
Honestly? Looks gay.
Last train home was fine tbh
Don't know, it crushed and deleted my save, so I lost any desire to replay it.
Boring af my dude.
It's going to be yet another disappointment. I don't think anyone can do right by the concept, and I can sum it up in the words of the trailer
>You can't change the outcome of the war, but you can change the lives of the men fighting
This mindset is COPE. And no, I'm not asking for VGH WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN, the fact is that the outcome of a war is not an objective concept. The lives of the men fighting is the objective concept, and from that we get the outcome of the war. By saying you can't make the war better or worse, or even really win the battle you're assigned to, you're telling the player they have no agency. It'd be like XCOM where you don't get to decide if the Mars mission succeeds or fails, just who lives and dies until that happens. Pretty worthless.
Discussing FPS is fun and all, but anyone played the game yet?
yes, and it's not that good. your troop is mostly made up of family men who don't want to do it all and collapse under the slightest strain. you spend weeks and months in camp after a combat mission and they barely recover because a night watch or latrine cleaning is already too much for them. Next time i´ll surely use that elderly psychiatrist from vienna as cannon fodder ...
ui is all over the place. combat is quite terrible, animations are bad. characters, texts and dialogs are rather cheesy and partly anachronistic, combined with a typical german passive-agressive war is le bad message.
sure, it´s early access, some things will improve, others won't, because it's obvious that the developers lack knowledge about military history which is the biggest drawback for me.
>early access, some things will improve, others won't
Here's is the roadmap
>LE ROADMAP
Every single frickin game with a roadmap is not worth one second of your attention. Just wait for final release or the death of it
Sick of these morbid games that try and portray war as other than glorious, violent fun. Fhckin crybabies
>Last Train Home disappointment
Am I the only one who actually enjoyed it?
thought this one was going to be another sad sack game like this war of mine (still the best example in the genre imo) or frostpunk, but the graphics on the steam page make it seem comical
Since we are talking about ww1 games. What do you guys think about The great war western front? I got it from steam winter sale and im about to complete my first campaign as the germans. Im having a good time but the battles do start to feel a bit samey
i was getting tired of the samey battles by the end of the demo, can't imagine playing a campaign to completion
Enemy national will starts to drop pretty fast if you keep winning so my campaign hasn't taken that long but i could imagine it would turn to a slog pretty easily ( would be fitting for ww1 tough). I started from 1914 so i don't know if the later start has more technologies open from the beginning. Tanks and planes etc. Do take a while to research so any variety to gameplay takes some time.
I do like the defensive battles tough but im weird like that
Bad fundaments, bad design, not worth it.
Battles feeling samey is an issue with that game. It's fun for what it is, I'm happy the devs are enough to add mod tools on launch.
>It's fun for what it is, I'm happy the devs are enough to add mod tools on launch
tbtbh this should be the bar standard for any indie dev, no budget is not a valid excuse for not giving the playerbase modding support.
muh le war is hell RTS is terrible idea, at best you can have one such game
why can't they make a fun WW1 game?
The Great War: The Western Front came close and had potential but turned out to be a cash grab to just keep Petroglyph afloat that they abandoned after they made their money
at least we will always have Warfare 1917
Still the best WW1 strategy game.
>le war is hell
If you read Ernest Junger book "Storm of Steel", he didn't seem to mind the war. He just did his job and loved it.
Ernest Junger is a victim of extreme self delusion to protect himself and his psyche from what he saw and did.
Literally only underage high school kids who post little dark age edits don't realize this
>to protect himself and his psyche
No that's what all those insect collection books were for.
Read more war memoirs. A lot of soldiers who saw serious shit just don't care or internalized it much better. Different generation, different culture.
who ever said it was an RTS lmao, why are RTS fans always such mongoloid Black folk. stick to your containment threads
because turn-based is fricking gay
are you gay, anon?
You're right, what I meant to say that it does not look like a strategy game
>But your choices don't change the war.
Gay.
does not even look like a rts to me
I pirated it. It seems abit like a visual novel but with more gameplay. Seems pre-determined. It crashed though when I go to the level where you retreat across the creak.
If you have autism, On the Western Front is the best WW1 game in existence.
Yur. Janky but it has everything.
