It's funny because 2/3 of the Paldean two-stage dog lines could easily have been new type combinations, with Hountstone being Ghost/Rock and Dachsbun being Fairy/Fire, and yet they decided to make them monotypes for no reason
Cursola’s coral is too brittle for it to be a Rock type. Houndstone isn’t Rock because its skull just mimics a gravestone while it burrows underground, much like how Greavard isn’t Fire because its candle is fake.

gamefreak is really weird with type combos. Like, in their first creature-collecting game alone they make multiple bug/poison and grass/poison mons, but it takes them over 20 YEARS to come up with a grass/fire design, which would spark anyone's creativity from the start with all sorts of crazy creatures to collect and use. Then they give us TWO grass/fire mons right next to each other in the dex, and they refuse to make a ghost/rock for some reason.
Their grass/fire design is kind of bad too, I would've rather just had mega sunflora
Runerigus is made of clay, not stone, so it is Ground the same reason Claydol and Golurk are.
AZ's Floette should get a Mega that makes it Fire/Fairy.
