We're in this problem because population growth slowed down significantly. Capitalism as it is now requires growth year over year, and if the workforce isn't growing at the rate it used to they need to raise prices to give the returns shareholders expect.

So? From the point of view of the game (or whatever) it's checking feature support and it's getting something written to the directx spec. >it's not perfect >it might never be
No shit. Putting dxvk in the same league as wined3d or something that maps dx7/glide/whatever to dx11 and calling everything under the sun a wrapper is still moronic. Is every emulator a wrapper? Are they still wrappers when they still wrappers when they're full out emulating the native hardware on the cpu? There are some things that vkd3d dxvk or zink (ogl on vulkan) will never be able to support because of hardware or vulkan limitations, but there are also things they can support by getting new directx-like extensions upstreamed by khronos. You may as well say that amd are wrapping raytracing today because they're doing it with compute shaders instead of rt fpgas.

>Putting dxvk in the same league as wined3d or something that maps dx7/glide/whatever to dx11 and calling everything under the sun a wrapper is still moronic
Glide wrappers are great, I use them all the time to play old games. WineD3D isn't bad either, I used it back in the day to play WoW. Stop being so easily offended, DXVK and VKD3D are great and I didn't say otherwise. >Is every emulator a wrapper?
No, if you're translating API calls then you're a wrapper. If you're translating hardware commands then you're an emulator. Example: Wine is a wrapper and Box86 is an emulator. >You may as well say that amd are wrapping raytracing today because they're doing it with compute shaders instead of rt fpgas
AMD has native RT units on RDNA 2 and 3. On RDNA 3 they accelerate as much as NVIDIA and Intel does with their units, there are no compute shaders involved.

>Stop being so easily offended, DXVK and VKD3D are great and I didn't say otherwise.
Never said you did, but they're in a different league. Vulkan is low level (relative to ogl) and (for now) easily extensible which allows dxvk or vkd3d or zink or even MS (their vulkan->dx12 thing) to map directx calls 1:1 to vulkan and implement feature sets in a performant and effectively native way or submit a draft extension to khronos to support that. You simply can't provide full dx9-11 support on opengl in a performant way or extend it to support notorious edge cases like sims 2, whose textures and shadows will never work properly on wined3d/opengl. Simple wrappers like glide->dx9 mostly work but when you get to something like dx8->dx9 you get e.g. missing lighting effects in hitman 2 and contracts. >if you're translating API calls then you're a wrapper. If you're translating hardware commands then you're an emulator
7th gen emulators are doing both. In fact they're doing it on the cpu and gpu , since avx512 includes some cell and xenon instructions. It's only going to get less clear with 8th gen emulation since they're seemingly going to run as hypervisors. Then you have projects like waydroid that run android arm apks through a translation layer but the graphics calls don't do (cross api) translation at all. >AMD has native RT units on RDNA 2 and 3
And before that?
Maybe at launch, but nowadays the A750 goes for pretty cheap. The only limiting factor is the 8gb of VRAM for movie games like Alan Wake 2, but for games like Cyberpunk/Dying Light/Metro Exodus/Like a Dragon Gaiden its more than enough.
And if you need more the 16gb of the A770 is more than enough for movie games like Alan Wake 2. The main issue besides 1st gen-era drivers is that they need at least 10-12gb for mid-range GPUs as a middle ground, Nvidia seems to have compression techniques to help with VRAM that AMD/Intel just dont seem to have.
All I'm hearing is you're happy to pay more for less
Smaller bus, less VRAM, glorified refurbs

I thought gpu reclocking was impossible because linux-libre stripped out the amdgpu firmware loading mechanism. Do they not do that anymore?
At this point its just best to wait for a 4070 Super no? Won't that have 16 gigs of VRAM and be on par with the Ti for less? I play at 1440p anyway and would be upgrading from a 1070 after all this time
Incorrect. The RTX 4070 Super will be $100 cheaper than the 4070 Ti for the same performance. The 4070 Ti Super 16GB will replace the 4070 Ti at it's current price($799)but offers 4080 level performance.
In your dreams maybe. No way the 4070 ti super(lol) is equal to a 4080 or cheap. Nvidia says 4080 performance is the 4080 price tag so if it can do that then it will be priced to match.
The prices can and have changed up to the day of announcements. This leak is meaningless. Remember Nvidia started this gen calling the 4070 ti, the 4080 12gb, and made board partners spend millions reprinting boxes and redoing their logos on the cards.
You mean like how the 3060 is on par with the 2060 Super? moron.

I'm not the moron complaining he can't upgrade every gen like you are. No one in their right minds would go from a 3060->4060/3060 Ti 4060 Ti or a 2080->3080.
>actually it's only a downgrade it's some games!
LOL holy shit you're saying this like it's perfectly normal for a new generation to ever be a downgrade in any fricking game
I bought a 4070 and I'm pleased with it, especially the thermals, power draw and noise levels. Never seen it go above 60c. Has some pretty bad coil whine but I wear headphones so doesn't bother me. After experiencing the difference between DLSS and FSR I don't think I can buy a AMD GPU again.
The point of 3060 vs 2060 Super was the 3060 cost less on the time of its release, and had better CUDA/RT performance. There were no obvious downgrades.
Except no one who had a 2060/2060 Super would upgrade to the 3060. That would be moronic, because the 3060 offers the smallest performance leap for xx60 cards.(1060->2060 50%, 2060->3060 19%, 3060->4060 22% 960->1060 45%)
Electricity is stupid expensive in my country so I got the 4070
Still using AMD CPUs
Make your GPUs consume less power than a small city and I will consider them
>pairing GPU with APU
Enjoy PCIE 3.0. Meanwhile intel UHD chads are enjoying improved video encoding performance when paired with a GPU over the non iGPU models.
Based, gaming is a cheap hobby after all if you are a smart spender. Especially if you mainly only spend on hardware and don't buy new AAA slop for full price.
I used to work for a company that did prrebuilds
Their margins come from PSUs and mobos because their target group is moms whose 12 year old asked for i7txradenon6759X to play Fortnite on ultra
So unless you go for really high end prebuilds and pay 2x the parts price, you'll be stuck with a brick unupgradable motherboard, terrible airflow and a PSU that will spontaneously combust
The smart choice is to buy a used custom PC from someone who is selling it as one piece, because they're quitting gaming/moving away
My brother bought a prebuilt and I wanted to sell him my old card for an upgrade but it has such a terrible PSU that it wasn't an option. It's a shame really, most prebuilts these days have very acceptable GPU/CPU combos but everything else is shit so there is no value to be had.
>most prebuilts these days have very acceptable GPU/CPU combos but everything else is shit
The GPU/CPU combos are their selling point because they're the only thing aveage consumers see, that and "gamer" aesthetics ie. shitty RGB and ugly plastic cases
They can't use the other parts for marketing so they pick bare minimum chinkshit to undercut the competition in price
nope lol. 3 days a week i work 4 hours, and 2 days a week its average 6 hours. i understand im likely an outlier, but i actually like it. i shitball customers all day
i wanna elaborate on this. the prebuilt thing only came to me during the mad gpu shitseclation era. i was looking to build a rig, and i was just checking what the pre-built gays were doing for reference, and noticed that one particular company was still selling prebuilts with 3080s at prebuilt prices. i could of got a prebuilt, gutted the gpu, and sold it for the price of the entire rig on the spot, so i sent it.
then it arrived and instead of gutting it i just used it straight away to play rollercoaster tycoon 2
Rebuilds are an absolute waste of money, they are all universally overpriced and sloppily built.
Do yourself a favor and look up highly rated stores with a good reputation that assemble their own computers for sale or will assemble a computer with the parts you want for a reasonable fee.
Rebuilds are an absolute waste of money, they are all universally overpriced and sloppily built.

>that assemble their own computers for sale or will assemble a computer with the parts you want for a reasonable fee.
This is also a very good idea, although the issue with most prebuild customers is that they don't know, or don't want to learn how to pick parts
My answer is that unless you're a giga richgay and can't go to alienware or something and buy a premade spaceship because you don't give a frick about price gouging, you're a pleb like us and a "value" prebuild will be a brick within a year or so
Learn how to pick parts or ask someone (NOT a salesman) to help, there's no excuse to be ignorant when you can look everything up online
Goddamn I'm so strapped for cash right now, couldn't afford a new PC or new parts even if I wanted to get them. Realistically all I need is a better GPU, but my CPU and overall other parts are fine. I recently moved into a new apartment and that process was a set-back for me with the payments I had to make, plus getting internet set up and paying the electricity. It was just a bunch of money I had to drop all at once, and you feel that in your bank account when you suddenly have to drop $1,000+ in one day.
they tried this already, the iphones with the substandard colored frames. the colored 5cs. turns out, your all poor broke c**ts. dont blame them for not wanting to frick with them, it was hell on those small local phone repair places. yeah your baby was just born and you cant afford rent, shouldnt of smashed the screen smoking the crack pipe, not my problem

>live in the tropics >all AMD cards run hot >never had this problem with Nvidia

>relatively similar performance
True, it beats the 4070 is raster performance >it is cheaper
Depends, they were the same price when I was shopping around >produces less heat
Wrong >uses less power
EXTREMELY wrong >AMD have better software
Debatable, they've gotten better recently
An extra 100$ is worth not having to think about compatibility.
NVIDIA just works. Literally all my games work on it.
Even old ass games i imagined would not work on widows 10.
Does Nvidia have anything like MPT? MSI Afterburner is Russian spyware. Other OC tools are fricking baby tier that only lets you control power limit and that's it.
I can play games at 60 fps on a 1440p monitor with a 4060ti which was like 300 dollars. Why do people need to overspend on graphics cards when CPUs are way more important these days?
>AMD has native RT units on RDNA 2 and 3
And before that?
>zink
meant to say ogl to vulkan for them.
Offered the lowest 16GB VRAM GPU and the A750's a massive value winner for $200
Maybe at launch, but nowadays the A750 goes for pretty cheap.
Battlemage when?
I fricking hate pajeets so god damn much and they're only becoming more common as more of them get internet and western visas.
>AMD
>2024
I thought we were past this.
>you will pay the nvidia tax for a bunch of poorly implemented features and backend crutches to bandaid lazy DX12 gamedev
No thank you
>You will pay 90% of nvidia tax for a featureless poop card that has shitty drivers and will play every game like shit day one
>decade old smear campaign flashcards
okay, rajesh
AMD is literally India
>t-things are different this d-decade I swear
No. Nothing has changed. Same old trash Lisa has defecated for a decade.
All I'm hearing is you're happy to pay more for less
Smaller bus, less VRAM, glorified refurbs
I'm paying for better drivers, son.
This is cope btw.
t. 3070 owner, zero issues on previous RX590
>muh better drivers
Nvidia drivers are also fricking shit, only difference is when they frick it up, which is often, they put up the fix a bit faster, that's it, so stop lying about muh israelitevidia drivers being good you homosexual.
AMD cards are fully unironically the ONLY ones I have ever had fail on me and I've been using video cards since 3DFX's first voodoo. Frick AMD.
User error lol
Then enjoy minority of users, gays
>t. Midwit
>12GB VRAM
>for $600
Scam
>$600
The 4070 is $549 thanks to the upcoming RTX 4070 Super coming in two weeks
RT is dogshit on the 4070.
? The RTX 4070 is the first time a xx70 class card can turn on Raytracing comfortably and still get good frames, what are you on?
Goyvidia really isn't sending their best today huh
b***h looks like he's giving multiples handjobs.
>AMD shillboxed
AMD because I can use it in a fully free OS like Parabola without requiring proprietary drivers.
>AMD
>fully free OS
I thought gpu reclocking was impossible because linux-libre stripped out the amdgpu firmware loading mechanism. Do they not do that anymore?
you can put fake frame techs in many games now sir
Still not buying anything AMD
Still not buying anything sony
>support nvidia
>a company who financially supports groups like feminist frequency
>chad
???
i like this guy
but he's no gamers nexus
That's a good thing. GN is a fricking whiny moron.
For me? It's the $799 RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB AKA the next GTX 1080 Ti.
Stop you're turning me on
I guarantee those things are gonna sell like hotcakes, hope I can get one close to MSRP
I'm currently on a 1080ti and I'm thinking of retiring it for one of those. At only 800 burgertickets it's very tempting.
4070 TI 16GB offers 4080 like performance(5% slower) but it costs $799. This GPU will be godly.
A new card? I just run everything on my old midrange card maxed out with AMD's high fidelity. These fools are thinking I'm buying a new one.
At this point its just best to wait for a 4070 Super no? Won't that have 16 gigs of VRAM and be on par with the Ti for less? I play at 1440p anyway and would be upgrading from a 1070 after all this time
>Ti for less
Lol. It will be the same price as current Ti and bump the old ones down in price or more expensive.
?si=fob8SByIyYfW8xaV
The prices can and have changed up to the day of announcements. This leak is meaningless. Remember Nvidia started this gen calling the 4070 ti, the 4080 12gb, and made board partners spend millions reprinting boxes and redoing their logos on the cards.
> Won't that have 16 gigs of VRAM and be on par with the Ti for less?
LOL
you'll be lucky if it's not a downgrade from a 3070
Shut the frick up moron. The 4070 is faster than the 3060 by 35%.
>xx70 card is faster than an older generation xx60 card
>this is supposed to be impressive
call me when a 4060 isn't a downgrade from a 3060
>call me when a 4060 isn't a downgrade from a 3060
Like I said moron, shut the frick up
?si=fxi8VoH6WFZ8YgL7
>slower than 3060 ti
Ack ACK ACK
You mean like how the 3060 is on par with the 2060 Super? moron.
>bro just wait 10 years for a real upgrade
yes keep sucking that cok oh yes suck it real good
I'm not the moron complaining he can't upgrade every gen like you are. No one in their right minds would go from a 3060->4060/3060 Ti 4060 Ti or a 2080->3080.
>actually it's only a downgrade it's some games!
LOL holy shit you're saying this like it's perfectly normal for a new generation to ever be a downgrade in any fricking game
>4060 is worse than a fricking 3060 Ti
Absolutely fricking embarrassing, the frick were Nvidia thinking
You'll buy it like a good goy because the last 10 years of sales data proves it.
>cherrypicked results
LMAO
I bought a 4070 and I'm pleased with it, especially the thermals, power draw and noise levels. Never seen it go above 60c. Has some pretty bad coil whine but I wear headphones so doesn't bother me. After experiencing the difference between DLSS and FSR I don't think I can buy a AMD GPU again.
coil whine should be unacceptable, send that shit in.
>I bought a 4070 and I'm pleased with it
Of course you are. The question is, will you be pleased with it 2 years from now on?
Why wouldn't I be?
What are you expectations regarding the card, do you think its VRAM/bandwidth will be good enough for the next 'n' years?
That dlls 4.0 and all that tech will only be accessible for 5000 series otnly
3060 bros.... we're barely better than the 2060Super... it's over
The point of 3060 vs 2060 Super was the 3060 cost less on the time of its release, and had better CUDA/RT performance.
Make your GPUs consume less power than a small city and I will consider them
>posting Hardware Unboxed
Careful or you'll summon the njudea shills.
>pairing GPU with APU
Enjoy PCIE 3.0. Meanwhile intel UHD chads are enjoying improved video encoding performance when paired with a GPU over the non iGPU models.
>PCIE 3.0
Turn off your APU bro. Unnecessary watt/heat generation on the CPU die having it sit active but unused.
lll probaby get some prebuilt. i make 15 grand a year, but it only costs me like 3 grand a year to live, so itll be fine.
Yup, often it takes real detective work to even work out the exact specs of the other components since they aren't listed properly.
>15 grand per year
Please tell me you at least don't work 9 to 5 6 days a week.
nope lol. 3 days a week i work 4 hours, and 2 days a week its average 6 hours. i understand im likely an outlier, but i actually like it. i shitball customers all day
I work full time and make 10k in my country
i wanna elaborate on this. the prebuilt thing only came to me during the mad gpu shitseclation era. i was looking to build a rig, and i was just checking what the pre-built gays were doing for reference, and noticed that one particular company was still selling prebuilts with 3080s at prebuilt prices. i could of got a prebuilt, gutted the gpu, and sold it for the price of the entire rig on the spot, so i sent it.
then it arrived and instead of gutting it i just used it straight away to play rollercoaster tycoon 2
Rebuilds are an absolute waste of money, they are all universally overpriced and sloppily built.
Do yourself a favor and look up highly rated stores with a good reputation that assemble their own computers for sale or will assemble a computer with the parts you want for a reasonable fee.
>that assemble their own computers for sale or will assemble a computer with the parts you want for a reasonable fee.
I went with the 6800xt, it's good enough to keep stable 60fps in EDF 4.1 and 5.
Can they make a 3060ti specs nvidia card but with 12gb ram and have it be for similar price as the former?
They can but they wont
they tried this already, the iphones with the substandard colored frames. the colored 5cs. turns out, your all poor broke c**ts. dont blame them for not wanting to frick with them, it was hell on those small local phone repair places. yeah your baby was just born and you cant afford rent, shouldnt of smashed the screen smoking the crack pipe, not my problem
I'm still on a 3060Ti but I'm jumping straight to a 16GB card next since 8GB aged so poorly.
Curious but what kind of game/resolution you run that you feel like 8gb is holding you back
Yeah no shit
I have a 4gb card and nothing really holds me back
Is 4070 good if I only use 1080p?
yeah sure. of the three devices for the three screens i run, it only chokes sometimes, but usually i look at weird sfm porn on the big one. but if its just Ganker, it works well
>live in the tropics
>all AMD cards run hot
>never had this problem with Nvidia
What's a good upgrade from the RX580? I want to switch to Nvidia but they're so expensive.
If you're on 580 8GB then you want the 6700xt 12GB to really feel that huge leap of an upgrade.
RX6600 is an upgrade but the jump isnt as big.
Nothing is wrong with a 580 imho
Exposed (once again just like many times before) how mentally ill nvidia cultists are.
Bro how much longer is my 2070 Super supposed to last me
I'm worried
4070 Ti
7800xt because despite the relatively similar performance, it is cheaper, produces less heat, and uses less power, and AMD have better software. The only reason I'd ever consider getting nvidia is for blender cycles, but even that issue is being alleviated by the replacement of opengl with vulkan.
>relatively similar performance
True, it beats the 4070 is raster performance
>it is cheaper
Depends, they were the same price when I was shopping around
>produces less heat
Wrong
>uses less power
EXTREMELY wrong
>AMD have better software
Debatable, they've gotten better recently
less heat
>Wrong
>>uses less power
>EXTREMELY wrong
you should look at actual use case benchmarks and not just what's in the spec sheet.
okay, i was wrong about power, the 7800xt does use more, i was comparing it to the 4070ti. but the 7800xt does produce less heat than the 4070.
If it uses more power then it makes more heat. Running at lower temp for the same power use just means it has a better cooler on it.
no it doesn't, i bought a 4070 cause i didn't feel like buying a new psu
moron
?
Why are you blatantly lying? On behalf of AMD users I will assume this is just false flagging
Literally everything you said is wrong, so I guess the 4070 then?
Literally everything you said is wrong
Only nvidia graphics cards are decent. They are worth any money, sirs.
Time wasting question thread
Demoralization thread
Ragebait thread
An extra 100$ is worth not having to think about compatibility.
NVIDIA just works. Literally all my games work on it.
Even old ass games i imagined would not work on widows 10.
So does 7800xt. Stop sucking nvidia's wiener.
AMD also just works. Not sure what you're babbling about.
Does Nvidia have anything like MPT? MSI Afterburner is Russian spyware. Other OC tools are fricking baby tier that only lets you control power limit and that's it.
If not then still staying with AMD forever.
>MSI Afterburner is Russian spyware
>my processing power is donated for missile guidance

I have a 4090 and I am not buying until it's the 8090

4070 ti super(tm)(c)
I love nvidia so much it's unreal
How do people manage to watch this slop? This shit is unbearable
i paid 1650 for my 4090. its up to 2000 a few months later. poorgays will never learn
I paid 150 for my titan and I play everything.
I can play games at 60 fps on a 1440p monitor with a 4060ti which was like 300 dollars. Why do people need to overspend on graphics cards when CPUs are way more important these days? You're going to be playing games and sims that are CPU intensive, graphics plateaud ages ago and unless you're driving the latest VR or a 4k monitor you shouldn't give a shit. 4k is a meme btw, 1440p@27 inches@170hz is the goldilocks zone, get an m27q and save your money
4k isn't enough
4090 is a better card
well duh, bigger better number bigger and 2000 shekels is number bigger better than 970 shekels. remember the more you buy the more you save
