Despite what some gays may tell you, aoe4 is a good game and is about to get a lot better. Anons, now its a good time to start playing with a huge expansion on the horizon.

what expansion?
"Sultans Ascend"
>Explore new territories, lead armies, and immerse in the rich history of the Middle East.
yeah, pass
Looks like there might be a Crusades scenario
I don't play French, anyone see anything new here?
Were German knights always black armored? Are they doing some Age3 stuff about more unique imperial skins?
no they are changing their skins I think to make them more readable. currently it's easy to mix them with other European civs
that's the French wonder, also new king like unit in mid
The siege of Jerusalem most likely, screen shot also has templar knights bottom right as well as some golden helmed special Knight which could be Baldwin from 1099.
Paid skins, baby!
>Paid skins
Does that mean the game will go (semi)free-to-play like they did with AoE3?
> Unit reach Imperial Age upgrade
> Just give them a golden armor like those in Saint Seiya!!
Holy shit golden armor and weapons is so garbage and ugly
It's HRE, so it's supposed to evoke a classic piece of Gothic armor. I see what they were going for, it's just that the general artstyle of AoE4 is so bad.
So are the Golden bois supposed to be apart of the Teutonic Order?
So it's just more civs and map styles? Regardless if you find that it's a good game as-is, it needs way more than that to gain the general audience's attention.
So, another reskin?
so Japan is confirmed as a faction, wonder if we'll be getting another one as well, also bet the faction will be free and the campaign will cost money.
can't wait to get some more content
BYZANTINES FRICKING WHEN
pure distilled cope
>themed off crusades
>adds japs
I mean japs are my fav but still.
That picture hurts to look at as a history gay.
Every single time I look at it, I notice something even more wrong.
Porn games pay more attention to details and chronology than this thing.
Those rice storage houses on stilts are from ~100AD while the guys on the horses to the left are ~1650AD.
Those peasants are wearing the clothes of royalty, even if living in actually decently accurate medieval Japanese houses.
The dudes with naginatas in the lower right are ~1000AD to fill in the picture.
And I could go on until post-limit with all the things that are wrong in it.
Many historic strategy games do this. It's for glamour.
How's Eiyuu Senki compared to Sengoku Rance?
Why do the spears look like that?
Unit readability.
soulless art direction obviously focused on mobile target audience, for some god forsaken reason.
>sell the expansion as focused on the crusades
>oh btw here's Japan.
This thing smells so desperate. It's clear they are adding fan favorites back in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. They could have done an entire asian expansion like AOE3 did but instead they are shoe horning japs in an expansion based off the desert.
Maybe Japan is a free civ which is not part of the Crusader DLC?
That's e en worse then cause it means we don't get a campaign.
These games need to take hint from COH2 and total war shogun.
End the rock-paper-scissors gameplay.
PS AGE of empires 2 is peak soul.
At least style it up like dishonoured 2 and tf2
Etc
Age Of Empires also has to take hint from Stronghold.
God putting archers on walls feels divine
AOE4 has archers on walls.
>the game looks fine only when there are no terrible fricking UI on the screen
>the game looks fine
The UI is gaudier than the gaudiest of noveau riche's Roccoco. But the game itself looks like barf as well.
stop making up words
It is a goos game.
But when I played back at release I found it painfuly generic. Specially the UI and the design of the units. The gameplay was at least interesting. There is basically no reason to play it over AoE II.
I'm not a big fan of the Chinese style walls instead of stone and wood style that their keeps have
Those are not at all how Chinese walls look like.
And for that matter, Japanese literally did not even make city walls at all. So whatever they make will inevitably be bullshit.
>Their keeps.
Are stone-reinforced inclines, not walls. an even deeper irony is that Chinese used that technique to build walls (in the south, north has better soil and kept the walls naked soil) before they started using redbricks for it in the Early Modern period.
>Showing off Ninjas for Japanese.
I have a feeling they are going to turn Japanese in to a hit and run race instead of how they ususally are of being a general all rounder.
